THE BREAKDOWN: If you are into watches and you’re an outdoors person this watch is almost everything you could want and then some. This watch came packaged in a small cube and had a charger cable, product manual and the watchband was already attached. Mine actually 80% battery life already when I first turned it on. Setting up the watch was pretty easy. You just download the Coros app and follow the instructions and add the watch to your Coros account or create one if you do not already have one. After that you just wait a few minutes for the watch to update itself to the latest version of the software. Also, the phone application had plenty of faces to choose from and the data and how you wanted it to look and collect. You will just have to go through them all and experiment for yourself. The watch itself is very rugged. It has a sapphire touch screen that is 1.3 “with a grade 5 titanium alloy bezel and it even has a glove-compatible lard digital dial. This watch is very temperature resistant and water resistant. It can operate in temperatures from -20C to 50C and water resistant to 5 ATM. I do really enjoy the dial and find it easy to use to navigate through the menus. The battery life is really amazing with 66 hours of full GPS or 24 days of daily use. I only own one other watch that has better battery life than the COROS APEX PRO 2 and that is the Garmin Enduro 2. The GPS is amazing on the watch and doesn’t take long to lock on either. It has the GNSS chipset and receives signals from all five major satellite systems and has dual frequency support. Some of the safety features of the watch are storm alerts, altitude mode, nutrition alert, sun movements and night mode. The optical sensors seems to do a good job tracking heart rate. It also monitors sleep quality, deep, light and REM. It gives heart rate variability. You can also check your blood oxygen levels. Music storage is still limited to Mp3 which is very surprising with today’s plethora of streaming music. The map navigation is still limited to GPX route and does not give turn-by-turn. There is no ANT+ and Bluetooth is the only way you can connect external sensors. I did several short and long runs using this watch and it performed amazingly. The tracking via GPS and heart rate were right on target with my other watches that I used simultaneously. PRO’s: - Excellent battery life - Sleek design - Accurate GPS and heart rate monitor - Easy to use Coros app CON’s: - No ANT+ - Scroll wheel requires lock - No streaming music - No turn by turn navigation SUMMARY: Overall, this product worked as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they are in the market for an outdoor watch.

The Coros Apex 2 Pro is a great outdoor/sports watch but it does have a few quirks. The Apex 2 Pro has a plethora of choices when it comes to exercises and the choices you have for third party software. If you are a serious athlete or outdoors person that can benefit from dual satellite chip technology this watch could be great for you. The biggest thing that bothers me is the screen. Coming from another big-name smartwatch with an AMOLED screen the screen on the Coros along with the lack of brightness leaves a lot to be desired. However, one thing I do like which correlates with the dimmer screen is the long battery life. If I am out camping for a few days I would much rather have this watch because the battery last a long time and the satellite dual chips are great for the outdoors. It is kind of a catch-22 situation I just wish Coros would let us decide how bright we want the screen. The Apex 2 Pro has a lot of settings as well so it can take a while to learn the interface. Once you do though its great in that aspect and I love all of the different choices for everything on this watch. I am actually still mastering the interface and phone app. Another thing I really like is the build of this watch and the appearance. It is also very comfortable and while I did not think I would like the band I really love it. Still can not believe how comfortable it is. Another thing I feel like could be improved is the navigation interface of the watch and the app software but mostly the watch. I feel like the bottom button should always be the back button to exit out of thing but with some things I have to push the main button and the top one only does screen brightening momentarily. I have also not seen any adjustments for how long the screen stays brighter. I really do see where this watch fits in for me because it is different than my other watch. I just wish there were more watch faces and the ability to adjust the brightness mainly. They could do some polishing on it and give us a little more flexibility with the screen and I think people would be happier with it.

We’re smart watch junkies and have collected a few of them over the last few years, when I saw Coros had a new “rugged” Apex 2 Pro out and I had to give it a try. Unboxing, first impression and Setup: The watch comes in a nicely logoed cubicle “watch” styled box and inside was the watch, charging cable, nylon strap “already attached” user guide and that’s pretty much it. The watch itself is around the same size as the Galaxy Watch6 Classic, it weighs a good bit less but is also a good bit thicker too. The watch has Titanium “black with this one” bezel and back with a plastic “glass filled” body. The buttons and crown are metal and the whole watch has a pretty substantial build feel to it. The nylon band that comes with it is our favorite band type and we’ve found to be the most comfortable of them all, “for us”. We have 3 other smart / sport watches we are comparing it to, the Galaxy Watch6 Classic, Galaxy Watch6 44mm, and a Garmin Venue 3. The Garmin wins the weight prize coming in at 37.5g, with the GW6 44 next at 44.6g then comes tithe Apex 2 Pro at 52.6 and the GW6 Classic at a whopping 84.5g. The weight difference isn’t as noticeable as it is with the GW6C but the thickness of the watch is as easily snags on clothing when trying to get into a pocket. I like the Sapphire crystal as that super hard compared to the glass options on the others “besides the GW6C”, but the PVD coating on the black titanium bezel is not very tough and it was easily damaged by just barely scuffing it against a tile surface so it’s going to show wear really fast. Setting up was easy enough as you just download the Coros app and follow the instruction to add the watch and setup your Coros account “if you don’t have one already”, and let the watch do its updates “ours had one and it took awhile to finish it”, after that you are up and running and ready to start recording stats. The charging cable is more like how Garmin does it and has a “snap” in 3 pin proprietary connector “don’t lose your cable” and the watch charges up in just under an hour if fully depleted. The phone app has plenty of options on how you want the watch to look, from watch faces to how everything behaves and frequency of data collected, there’s really a lot of stuff to tweak if you want the best performance. You can also adjust all the setting through the watch but it’s so much easier to do it on the app, “you can also do most from your computer using the Coros Windows app and connecting it to the PC with the charging cable”. Using: The Apex 2 can definitely record a ton of data, if you want and you can really fine tune it down into very fine points. I’m using this during my 3x weekly 1-2mile hikes, weight training and indoor exercise equipment. So far, all the data has been within just a few single digit percentage points except for my hike where I know the distance is exactly 1.24miles in one spot, the Apex keeps showing 1.17miles, the other watches I have all show 1.2 to 1.25 miles, with the Garmin maybe being the most accurate. Heart rate and O2 levels are with one point of each other and that could just be from refresh rate or having the watches on different wrists when testing “yes I wore 4 of them for some tests”. The screen itself is our biggest issue, it’s nowhere near as clear and vibrant as any of the other watches but we do understand that they use this type of screen to reduce power and give a lot better battery life “which it definitely does” and I see this as more of a data collection device that can run days with using the screen to view anything as secondary. I do have it set up to show notifications for emails, txts and calls, but you cannot make or receive calls on it at all “which I rarely do on the others anyway” mostly to tell the time and check weather and other stats. Now out in bright sunlight the screen is a different story, it’s more like liquid paper type screens and looks better the brighter the outside lighting is where the others do wash out more and are not as easy to see even at full brightness. At night using the backlight is “ok” it’s just enough to read the screen and see what you need “I don’t like looking through messages on it”. It's really nice that you can download offline maps and the watch can be a fully functioning GPS unit and outdoors the maps look pretty good “not as good as on a phone but very usable”, accuracy is good especially if you turn up the accuracy but that does impact battery life but still it’s a lot better than any of the others if you use all their functions too. I also like how you can adjust what you see on screen for each activity and you can really tweak the layout of each and every one, plus you can create your own activity if there isn’t already a premade one there. We’re a little confused as how the ECG works as even after running the health check and going through everything to see the ECG being taken, we cannot figure out where to view that item. The software on the watch “and app” are a little clunky if you compare them to the others but that’s an easy fix with updates and hopefully Coros will polish up the interface a bit. I’ve also been trying sleep tracking, and there’s a difference between all three brands that’s for sure, and really none of the numbers “or sleep type, deep, rem, etc.”, match up very well between them. So for that I’d stick to one and just do your averages over time as trying to mix it up between them for sleep tracking would “at least for us” give some wild out of sync numbers. Conclusion: The new Coros Apex 2 Pro is sort of a tossup for us, if you want a super rugged smart watch that can handle a lot of rugged outdoor activities, has phenomenal battery life and can record very detailed information about your workout then this may be the watch you are looking for. If you are wanting more of a smart watch that you will be reading the screen a lot, want to receive calls on and do more App based things then you may want to check with the other brands. This is really an excellent data collection device and has plenty of battery life where you can easily go camping for a few days and not have to worry about charging it. The battery life is nowhere near as good on any of the other watches we have “not even close comparing the Samsungs”. So, if you are really into outdoor activities, and want a rugged smart watch we think this new watch from Corso will be right up your alley.

The COROS APEX 2 Pro GPS Watch is a great option for anyone who loves spending time outdoors and needs a watch that can keep up. Whether you're a hiker, a trail runner, swimmer, or a climber, the APEX 2 Pro has the features and durability you need to take your adventures to the next level. With its rugged construction, long battery life, and comprehensive list of training and tracking tools, the APEX 2 Pro is a true all-in-one watch for outdoor enthusiasts. First off, I wanted to mention that the watch is comfortable wear, even for extended periods. The Velcro wrist band makes the watch adjustable to fit pretty much any size wrist. The features a large backlit display 1.3 touch screen display that is easy to read and even when its bright out. The watch is extremely durable boasting a scratch-resistant sapphire glass screen and a titanium alloy bezel and being water and temperature resistant, so you can take this anywhere and everywhere on your adventures. I have owned many smart watches but one of the APEX 2 Pros’ biggest strengths is its battery life. The watch boasts a whopping 75 hours of full GPS use and 30 days of standard usage. After full 48 hours of normal usage, I had lost about 5 percent battery life, which was amazing. The APEX 2 Pro also utilizes multiple global navigation satellite systems for GPS tracking, ensuring you stay on course and know where you are always. With a built-in barometer, compass, accelerometer, Gyro sensor, and Optical heart rate sensor you'll have all the tools you need right on your wrist. I have taken the APEX on my runs and my swims and its features like heart rate monitoring, pace tracking, recovery time estimation, and training load analysis, helped me gain insight into my performance and areas of improvement. I plan on taking this on my next hiking trip to see how well it performs. Overall, the COROS APEX 2 Pro is a great choice for anyone looking for fitness watch that is feature-rich, rugged, and boasts a long battery life for their adventures. I did not encounter any issues or run into anything that I did not like about the APEX and therefore would highly recommend that is in the market for check out this watch.

A beast of a rugged watch with long battery life!

Quick Overview ================================= Though they look similar, these dedicated fitness watches are much different than smartwatches. They're typically more rugged, have larger batteries, and may lose some "smart" features to prioritize fitness-related features. This Coros 2 Apex Pro is a great example of a rugged fitness watch with key features for runners, hikers and other athletes while including some basic "smart" features that can help you get through a modern workday. Overall build ================================= This isn't at all like a FitBit-style fitness band - this is a substantial piece of hardware! Opening the box, I was worried that the 47mm (1.3") screen would be too big for my smallish wrists, but I thought it was a surprisingly good fit and size. It has a titanium alloy bezel and a sapphire glass screen which should protect it from all but the worst abuse. It's waterproof to 50m with 5 ATM of water resistance. Though it's a fabric strap with velcro, I never felt that it would slip or open. It's got multiple velcro strips that hang on tightly and I like how easy that made it to adjust it or take it off when needed. Large buttons on the top and bottom are easy to reach for the light and "back" feature while the crown works perfectly. I would have loved a bit of a racheting/detent-style motion, but I'm sure a lot of people like the smoothly-scrolling dial. Either way, it works well and the controls are intuitive. Unlike a true smartwatch, the touchscreen is only active when you set it (maps, etc.) and "unlocking" it requires pushing in the crown for 3 seconds (shown on the screen) to defend against unintended swipes and changes. I'm actually OK with it though I didn't think I would be, initially. Initial setup ================================= The box included a proprietary charging cable which connects under the watch. I left it to get a full charge and came back when it was at 100%. Sure, people are used to magnetic, quick-disconnect, or wireless charging, but with a battery life of up to 24 days of regular use and 66 hours of full GPS usage, charging it won't be a big hassle. While it was charging, I downloaded the Coros app for Android, installed it, and used it to add my Coros Apex 2 Pro. The default watch face was fine, but a bit busy and the data points were too small so I dug into the app's menu to check out some alternatives. There were tons! I quickly chose one that showed a lot of info at a readable size and then continued to check out the other settings. There are tons of customization options to add or even edit the order of. For example, you can change what a long-press of the Light button does (Stopwatch, Maps, etc.), left or right hand usage, and what side of the watch face your dial is on. You can edit or remove the exercises you'd like listed so you can quickly select what activity you're going to use it for. There are almost too many options to adjust so I checked them out but left them there for now. There's a Wi-Fi sync option you can set up as well which gives you connectivity while you're home and possibly away from your phone. Performance ================================= For those that might be used to a smartwatch, the screen may seem dim in comparison, but with the light on when needed I thought it was fine for regular usage. The display is nice and large with enough watch faces to fit what you need functionally and stylistically. After nearly a week of usage, I'm still at 60% battery with a few training sessions, so the battery life claims seem to hold up. It's definitely better than my FitBit Charge 5! I took the device for a few activities including a stationary bike, tennis, running, and 2 short hikes. The first thing you'll want to do before starting an activity is selecting it via spinning the dial, holding still while the GPS syncs up, then getting started! Running and tennis are just tracked with cardio data like heart rate, distance, etc. The watch doesn't actually know I'm playing tennis, which is fine - I think that's too tough to distinguish. Just remember to stop the activity when you're done. For the hike, this was more interesting! I started at the bottom of the trail and started the hiking activity on the watch. When I finished the first pass, I saw that it mapped out my path and noticed the elevation changes as well! Of course, it was tracking my heart rate and pace throughout. Note - during the day, it checks your heart rate once every 10 minutes by default (probably for that long battery life) but it will do it constantly during your activities. Opening up the app to check the hike's data, I was pleased with the data including the compass, temperature, the trail, the distance, my speed, and training load. It did a much better job than I expected, especially compared to my old smartwatches that didn't have a GPS (relies on the phone's connection). Coros claims this has a redesigned GPS antenna and dual-frequency GNSS support. Their free offline maps for navigation will help if you're ever hiking out of reliable cellular range. For serious runners there's integration with Strava and others. I think the app is pretty powerful with data and training aids for keeping detailed track of your workouts including weightlifting. The Training Hub (PC and Mac) is a powerful piece of software that can help you keep tabs on your larger screen. Dashboards and data are all present and look great. They are modern and I love the calendar view to keep track of all the days that I did and didn't workout! Nothing keeps you going like some accountability! Comparing the results and tracking to my FitBit Charge 5 is interesting and confirms what I suspected: the FitBit counts way too many steps! I had 2 previous smartwatches before switching over to a fitness band and I always thought the step count was inflated. I've seen the Coros track from 15-50%(!) less steps than the FitBit. On lower-activity days, I think it's clearly more accurate. Remember when I said this wasn't a smartwatch? Yes, it does have sleep tracking, SpO2, HRV, etc., but don't expect to play or control Spotify on here. What you can do is load MP3s (remember those?) onto the watch - the Pro has 32GB of memory which is plenty for a lot of music, but you will need your own music library for that. Conclusion ================================= I didn't think I was ready for a large fitness-focused watch, but this really changed my opinion of this rugged category of watches. When I had a smartwatch, I felt I was underutilizing it since I really just wanted some pulse/sleep stats along with my notifications for important emails. I rarely used it for music or other functions. I didn't expect to like this Coros Apex 2 Pro so much, but I think I'm going to use this as motivation to keep better track of my workouts and activities to stay (get?) healthier. If you're shopping Garmin and Suunto, definitely check out Coros as well!

The COROS Apex 2 Pro is an outdoors navigational and workout wonder. It is refreshing to see a watch that can truly communicate with GPS satellites without having to rely on your smartphone. Moreover, multiple landscape and topographical maps can be downloaded and used directly from the watch, so you’ll always find your way back to civilization. Can’t wait for the weather to get better to do some hikes and MTB rides off the beaten path. So I got the watch less than a week ago and have been wearing it ever since. I first gave it a full charge, even though it came charged to about 70%. If I had known how unbelievably great the battery life is, I would have started using it right out of the box…despite having all features, notifications, GPS, Wi-Fi and bluetooth enabled, and several outdoor workouts, it is only down to 78% after 5-days of heavy use. That beats any other smartwatch I’ve ever used. The setup was straight forward, start with installing the COROS App, then scan the QR code on the watch display to pair it with your phone. If your phone camera has a hard time focusing on the QR code, you can also use bluetooth to discover/pair it. There are no additional apps you can install on the watch itself, but it can receive notifications from many popular email and messaging apps, as well as phone call notifications, weather apps, and of course it can also integrate with a dozen or so other popular fitness apps. Love the built-in Compass App. The COROS App has a comprehensive collection of settings, customizations, a couple of dozen customizable activities and workouts that exceed any other fitness device or smart watch I’ve ever used. There are over 200 different digital and analog watch faces you can choose from and you can also create customizations. Workouts, heart rate, oxygen, stress and sleep patterns are accurately tracked. I did have some trouble with workouts being paused because the screen/buttons weren’t locked. There were a couple of very windy days with temps in the low 30s and windchill factor well into the 20s, so I had to wear a winter jacket while jogging, the sleeves and hand movement inadvertently paused the workout. The Apex 2 Pro needs a better auto-lock or even manual lock function. It’s a nice looking watch, not too bulky, titanium based durability and light weight at 53g. The velcro band was a bit itchy/scratchy at first, but it’s softened up after a few days of use and no longer leaves a fine velcro pattern on my wrist. Display is a bit dim for my preference, and despite the vivid colors of the watch faces in the App, they don’t look anywhere near as bright and colorful on the watch itself. It’s almost like a gray scale display that in certain lighting conditions you have to find the right angle to look at for best visibility that’s aided by the backlight. I have been spoiled by AMOLED displays but I would definitely sacrifice some battery life for a brighter display. Time will also tell how well the proprietary charging port will hold up against sweat and dirt that could get stuck in there or corrode the contacts. Hopefully a future version will be able to incorporate wireless charging and eliminate the need for yet another proprietary charging cable.

A Great Smartwatch for those who are Active

As an active person who likes to work out in the gym and outdoors, I like to track my workouts and I rely heavily on technology to enhance my runs. I recently got the COROS APEX 2 Pro GPS Outdoor Watch , and I've been very impressed with all the features this watch has to offer. The first thing that struck me about the APEX 2 Pro is its sleek and stylish design. The watch feels robust and durable, due to its high-quality construction and premium materials. Its rugged design ensures it can withstand the rigors of working out, outdoor running, and its water resistance up to 100 meters. The watch face is 1.3in made with Sapphire Glass, which will help stop deep scratches. The watch face is 33 mm and the LCD screen resolution comes in at 260x260, which isn't the best or brightest compared to some other smartwatches on the market but it gets the job done. The wristband is a velcro Nylon, that absorbs sweat and from the week of heavy use it has started to stink. The watchband can be removed to wash and clean and Coros makes a rubber band that you can purchase if the nylon band isn't your style. The standout feature of the APEX 2 Pro is its advanced GPS functionality. The watch utilizes multiple satellite systems, including GPS to provide accurate positioning and tracking, even in challenging environments. The APEX 2 Pro reliably tracks my location and provides detailed route information, allowing me to set my path and navigate it and track my distance accurately. Smartwatch Battery life is always a concern when it comes to watches, but the APEX 2 Pro exceeds expectations in this regard. With its ultra-low-power display and efficient power management system, the watch boasts an impressive battery life of up to 40 days in regular use and up to 100 hours in GPS mode. The extended battery life ensures that the watch remains running throughout long hikes without the need for frequent recharging, providing peace of mind during extended outdoor runs. My average battery use after 1 day was about 4-5% with a light workout, checking text messages and other stat trackings. Training and Performance Metrics: For fitness enthusiasts and athletes, the APEX 2 Pro offers a bunch of training and performance metrics. The watch tracks various activities, including running, cycling, swimming, and more, providing detailed data on distance, pace, heart rate, sleep, elevation, and blood oxygen. The information it provides is invaluable for analyzing performance, setting goals, and monitoring progress over time, helping one optimize their training and achieve their fitness objectives. That being said, the tracking can be a little off when running on a treadmill, which is kinda expected because it's super exact since it’s not using the GPS to track how far you've run. That being but it allows you to edit your distance after the run to what you ran on the treadmill. Smart Features: In addition to its advanced tracking and training capabilities, the APEX 2 Pro offers a range of smart features that enhance its versatility and convenience. These include smartphone notifications, music controls, weather forecasts, and customizable watch faces. The watch seamlessly integrates with the COROS app, allowing users to sync data, customize settings, and access additional features such as workout planning and route sharing. Then there is an app on the web page where you can download specific workout plans straight to your watch. Overall, the COROS APEX 2 Pro GPS Outdoor Watch is a standout choice for outdoor enthusiasts and athletes alike. With its great design, advanced GPS functionality, long battery life, extensive training metrics, and smart features, it offers everything one could need for successful outdoor adventures and fitness pursuits. You can't go wrong picking this watch.

    Rugged, fitness focused smart watch

I am excited to try out another “smart” watch company geared towards activity tracking. I have been a long time apple watch wearer and split time with Garmin’s Fenix branded watches when I need a more rugged adventure ready option. I am initially excited about the proposed battery life and seeing how the compromise between that and features plays out. I am also nervous about the standard watch band, I am used to having a traditional closure with a band mostly rubber. I also know one compromise is the screen, fingers crossed it works in most environments. Opening the box, set up is super straight forward and will require an app on your smartphone. The box only included the watch, proprietary charge cable, and a packet of instructions with stickers. Solid start! I charged it up fully and synced immediately with the smartphone app to start customizing my new watch. TONS OF options to dial it into exactly how you expect to use it. Watch design, while promoting “rugged” construction the watch is considerably lighting than my Garmin Fenix which is a plus for a watch that wears slightly bulky vs a standard apple watch. I do like the button navigation and the data this watch collects and displays efficiently. Coros has a solid base when it comes to technology and with the focus on constant improvements, I am excited to see how long this watch is my go to. The materials they chose to use make this watch seem indestructible while feeling less bulky, the combination of titanium and sapphire glass comes together well. I feel this watch will keep up with anything you can throw at it. Layer on their extreme athletic challenge pedigree and you have a winning combination of technology and ruggedness. This watch pairs with the most common used fitness applications and does allow action camera controls which his a super handy option when adventuring. Pair that with pretty sure industry leading battery life and you can keep that adventure lasting for as long as you want. GPS and fitness tracking were all within marginal alignments between Garmin and Apple when comparing runs and cycling activities. Heart rate, distance and altitude were all validated and check out within an average delta across the 3 companies. I also am excited to explore in more detail the training offerings through the app and downloaded the map of my home state. This watch does do it all! I will include photos comparing size to both an Apple Watch and Garmin Fenix to show scale. The band is comfortable and I have open it up all the way to almost coming open fully to put it on so be careful not to drop it when doing this. If you are searching for a durable, adventure ready watch that has the ability to also double as an outstanding fitness tracker, look no further. High Five Coros, Apex 2 Pro took the original and perfected it.

I consider the COROS APEX 2 Pro GPS Outdoor Watch to be an essential travel companion based on my own experience with it. It has been with me on for some time. I love the outdoors, so I'm constantly on the lookout for the next big adventure. Because of how well it worked, I was left with a great impression. Because of the way that the design of this watch seamlessly combines functionality and aesthetics, it is an excellent companion for both daily use and outdoor activities. Let's start by talking about the layout. Both daily living and harsh terrain may be effectively utilized with the APEX 2 Pro because to its elegant yet sturdy black design. It is hence incredibly adaptable. Because of its robust build and how well it fits my wrist, I have no doubt that this watch will be able to survive any challenge that nature may throw at it. The greatest GPS chip is what really sets this watch apart from the rest. Whether you're riding a bicycle along winding mountain paths, kayaking down a swift-moving river, or exploring dense forests, the APEX 2 Pro provides excellent GPS tracking so you can stay on top of everything. I can simply plan my future travels or go back and review my precise route logs thanks to the detailed maps it gives. Because it offers comprehensive maps, this is made possible. In contrast, battery life is no longer a concern with the APEX 2 Pro—a problem that persists even for people like myself who are always on the go. This watch lasts a very long time, even after being used for lengthy periods of time during camping excursions where there aren't many power outlets accessible. Thanks to its extensive range of sport modes, the APEX 2 Pro is capable of handling any and all activities. Because it tracks my heart rate and pace, this watch is perfect for a variety of activities. It can be used for everything from trail running to swimming laps to skiing down steep hills all day long. These are all things that it is capable of. I can customize my workouts to achieve the highest level of efficacy while lowering the risk of injury by using the heart rate monitor to provide me with valuable information into my levels of exertion. On the other hand, the APEX 2 Pro has a higher feature count. Its sleep tracking feature, which has given me detailed analyses of my sleeping habits and recommendations for improving my general relaxation and recovery, has amazed me. I heartily endorse this feature. It is comforting to know that even when I'm asleep, my watch is monitoring my health after a strenuous day of sightseeing. It also keeps track of my weight in addition to this. The watch's user interface is easy to navigate because of its user-friendly design. I may utilize fully adaptable watch faces and widgets to customize the display to my own preferences, ensuring that I will always have access to the information I need. This COROS APEX 2 Pro has completely upended my universe. Its durable yet stylish design, long list of fitness features, long battery life, and reliable GPS tracking make it the perfect accessory for any outdoor enthusiast looking to get more out of their travels. Whether you are an experienced hiker or a weekend warrior, this watch is ready to go with you on your next outdoor adventure. Follow you, please! Put on your gear, decide which road you want to take, and get ready to go out on an adventure unlike anything you have ever experienced before.

The Coros Apex 2 Pro is the perfect companion for outdoor fitness enthusiasts who are ready for anything and value data, tracking features, and a lightweight extreme build quality. The 1.3" 260x260 64-color always-on LCD touchscreen sapphire display is effective and power efficient. Included for easy customization are 22mm quick-release watch straps. This means I can use my collection of 22mm watch straps to save more money and so can you! With 32 GB of internal storage, you can store a combo of 500 hours of activity or music to listen to offline using Bluetooth. The ultra-lightweight watch comes in under 54g, including the nylon band. To shed weight, grade 5 titanium alloy on the bezel and housing makes a big difference. We can brave the elements together in temps on-wrist ranging from -4°F to 122°F or -20°C to 50°C and water resistance down to 5 ATM or 164ft. Setup is easy. Just create a Coros account and charge your watch to full before first use. Follow the prompts in the Coros mobile app and the watch will be setup. The instruction manual is organized well if you know what you are looking for, but if you want to browse and learn in sections it doesn't work well. I need a PDF to reference anytime and offline. You can only get access to the manual online. The sapphire glass protects against ANYTHING but a diamond so keep moving. Inside, the inclusion of a new dual-frequency GPS chip enhances accuracy during navigation and tracking with support for GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, Beidou, and QZSS satellites so you are covered no matter where you go. With GPS, there are a slew of sensors to include: Optical Heart Rate Monitor [May not work over tattoos], Barometric Altimeter, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, 3D Compass, Optical Pulse Oximeter, and Electrocardiogram Sensor. I recommend getting a keychain charger if you are a true outdoor's person who doesn't want look for a cord. On-the-go, you will have your keys and can charge in your vehicle or battery bank on trails. A replacement cord is $20 so consider getting one of those too because of the proprietary connector. Buy the Coros Pod 2 for the analysis of run tests/form for those really looking nuanced data capture and performance. User Interface and Training Planning. The watch interface and mobile app complement each other and have tons of usability and features. My favorite part of this experience is the Coros route planning. You just draw on the map where you want to go, and it will give you turn-by-turn directions when you actually start running somewhere you haven't been. Get an idea of your course with distance and elevation changes to plan mentally and strategize. There are also many workouts and regimens you can use and customize to your needs within the Coros ecosystem. This alone is worth the price of admission and you get a watch to track your progress, essentially. There is a treasure trove of ways to get ready for anything you need. I love there are options to use as templates in the vast library of training. You can scan the QR code in the app to load it into your watch. You can add it to your library, and it will sync with your watch in the app. The dashboard and detailed breakdowns provide a plethora of analytics to digest for training. Charts and graphs are everywhere and graphically represent trends to keep you motivated and your journey progressing. Personal records are easily displayed so you can see where you stand at any time to push yourself to beat it. Screen & Battery Life The Apex 2 Pro has impressive battery life, boasting up to 24 days with regular use. That said, you can expect extended usage on this 47mm watch so don't forget where you put your cord! You don't have to look for a charger often, and when you do, it takes less than 2 hours for the watch to go from zero to full charge, returning over 2.5 weeks - that's EFFICIENCY! In my usage I chose to go full use of all tracking and sensors for the most data capturing possible to see if battery life would be good. I must say 10 days in, I'm at 52% which is impressive based on my testing. Every other smartwatch I own needs to be charged by midday 3, tops! I love the battery life and freedom provided while capturing data and Coros chose a large screen that sips power as a result. There is no OLED or bright screen you are used to on smartwatches. Remember, this is a fitness device you can use as a watch, not a smartwatch. It is terrible in bright light, and it is completely necessary to consider the black or white background in different lighting conditions. The backlight reminds me of an old Timex light before Indiglo came out. The backlight is too bright when it's dark, and it is too dark when it's bright and is not adjustable. You are stuck with the preset on and off. Touch controls are not intuitive and actually almost pointless with the need to still press the crown to select. You can move around in menus, but that is all. This is just another friendly reminder that this is not a smartwatch. It is a fitness device. Tracking GPS is amazing on this especially when activating dual frequency GPS around tall buildings and urban areas. Running and hiking have excellent tracking data available from altitude and distance, to stride length and average pace. Coros is offering anything you need from the other big players in the running watch game, but for a better price and added value. I have reservations about the accuracy of the sleep tracking, but overall, it seems to do a good job when compared to other smartwatches with sleep tracking I own. The start time is often off up to 40 minutes using a more widely used device I've trusted over the past few years. Heart rate and other sensors seem fairly accurate within 1-3 bpm of better FDA-approved gear. The interface is very simple and intuitive, with charts and graphs you are used to seeing. In my testing, sleep stats had inconsistencies in my tests, starting sleep and entering cycles. In the first 3 nights of testing, the results were interesting, to say the least, but further use proved it is better. The first day it was within 20 minutes of my previous tracker, the second day was off by 45 minutes when I actually went to sleep, and the third day it didn't even record my sleep. This alone disqualifies it as a sleep tracker and needs to be better tweaked. The sleep algorithm seems off when starting sleep. Target for Perfection Proprietary Connector. Not ever a fan of these because chargers are exclusive to the maker. You lose it, no charging for you! Offline PDF manual needed. Everything is currently online using a website. Touch Interface. The touch interface isn't intuitively. Specifically, when navigating things and you want to tap to select, you need to press the crown? Screen Nits and Control. Needs to be improved for night operation and have brighter day operation. Sleep Tracking. Tracking needs tuning as the algorithms seem off at times. Wrist positions seemed to trick it. Since it happened once, I will keep an eye on it. Music. Just use your phone instead of trying to get MP3s and gestures to work. It's really something more of a gimmick than the feature. App playlist/music from apps. No one is going to look for MP3s or rip old CDs. Where can you download new music MP3s legally without buying individual songs @ .99/ea? Screen Controls. We need control over brightness min and higher max values. It's too dark for outside depending on face, and too bright for night. It's all about the angle of view with this currently. This is the biggest handicap of this excellent watch, and possibly a deal breaker for many. Improve ASAP! Samsung Health Integration. Samsung and Coros need to figure this out I am sure, that's all. A workaround for integrating Samsung Health is use a 3rd party app supported by both Samsung Health and Coros. Integrate skin temp sensor - not a necessity but just missing if it wants to compete with other fitness watches coming out now. NFC Payment - add NFC to make this a daily driver. Some use their watches as payment so I will not take this unless I am strictly working out, limiting data capture to planned activity. In summary, if you prioritize battery life, the Coros Apex 2 Pro could be an excellent choice for your outdoor adventures. Coming from the market leader in running watches to Coros was an easy switch and I prefer route functionality and planning in Coros to the other offerings out there. The build is right, comfortable fit, and lightweight build, making this my go-to watch for training now. I hope to see improvements in screen controls and brightness to make this the perfect sub $500 fitness watch hands down.

For those who are looking for a smart watch that has a lot of functionalities I would skip this guy. Not because it doesn’t have them. But because the main focus of this is training/sports/outdoors. Which is where the bread and butter is. If your looking into more of a generalized smartwatch something like the Apple Watch will suit you better. In my testing I compared it directly to my Apple Watch Series 9. Just because I’m familiar with that watch, it’s functions, and its accuracy. WORKOUTS: I think the Apple Watch did a better job with the amount of workouts available. My main workouts include running, indoor biking, outdoor biking, walking, and weight training. Both watches had me covered for all of them. However, one feature I liked a lot with the Coros is that it would also count my rest automatically making it easier for me instead of having to reset my timer each time (or track it in my head). Additionally, I thought the heart rate was a bit more accurate, along with burned calories, and the after action reports went way more in-depth than my Apple Watch. The GPS data during runs/bike rides was also more accurate as it can be connected to 5 satellites. The information you get back on the Apple Watch is actually pathetic in comparison. Which means I’ll be using this guy going forward for my training. Additionally, with the display it makes it easier to constantly monitor your progress. As you can constantly see your heart rate change and has little marks of which heart rate zone you are in. Making it easy to see all the needed information at a glance. Or just swipe with your finger to go to a different screen/layout. Where with the Apple Watch it is all rather static. Just giving you the basic information. This doesn’t surprise me too much. As again, this is the bread and butter of this watch and the main reason why you should be considering it. I also like how Coros tracks recovery and will say X amount of time before fully recovered. Along with giving Heart Rate Variability. And last monitoring your stress throughout the day. Which I found to be accurate. My job can be slightly stressful and notice it tracks compared to the days I have off. All things the Apple Watch could improve on. SLEEP QUALITY: Both watches will monitor your sleep. They both had similar results. But I think the Coros once again takes the lead. As my Apple Watch was saying I was getting like 5 – 9 minutes of deep sleep per night with a lot more light sleep, whereas the Coros was saying about 90 – 120 minutes of deep sleep with more accurate sleep stages from what I expect I’m actually getting. Granted these sleep results should be taken with a grain of salt. Additionally, the way you can read the information both on the watch itself and on the app is way easier on the Coros. But my biggest grip with the Coros is three- fold. 1. There is no easy way to turn off the display. Outside of going deep in the settings. So, if you’re someone who likes to turn the wrist and have the light turn on, you’ll have to go through several screens to turn that off per night. Additionally, there is no way to lock the device. The Touch Screen only works on a very limited amount of screens (which is irksome) but the side buttons are quite large. Making them easily pressed during the night. With no way to lock those I find myself constantly getting beeps from me laying on my side and pressing the buttons which is very annoying. Third, it’s a large watch. Extremely bulky. Which takes some getting used too. The Apple Watch in comparison, takes single side button press, along with a touch screen press which not only turns off the display which you can slowly make brighter to not blind yourself (which is something Coros should copy) but also locks the display. Along with being a lot more lower profile and comfortable. BATTERY LIFE: Coros easily wins this one. Apple Watch is like 18 hours. I have been using this watch for about a week and I have 69% remaining with multiple workouts in. The charger isn’t as nice. I’m not sure on charge time. Whereas the Apple Watch is like 30 ish minutes. BUILD QUALITY: This will be dependent on which Apple Watch you go with. But from the base model perspective. The Coros is much better. It comes with a 1.3” sapphire screen with grade 5 titanium bezel with PVD coating. Similar to the Apple Watch Ultra. And is a tank. The Stock Apple Watch is aluminum. I think the digital dial on the Apple Watch is leagues better. And something Coros could improve on. You can operate the dial with gloves on the Coros. But I feel like there is a lot of wasted circular motion going on and would love to see covering more ground. I think the vibration for both are solid. The Coros as -20 – 50 C rating. I’m unsure about the Apple Watch. Both watches will do fine in water. I forgot the Apple Watch exact specs but this guy supports 5 atm water resistance and pressure depth of 50 m. I get a bit sketched out because it doesn’t have a water mode like the Apple Watch does. But I think that’s just because I’m so used to activating that. CONTROLS: I hate the Coros controls. I know hate is a strong word. But it makes it feel like I’m constantly going out of my way to do literally anything. Want to start a stop watch, six screens later your there. Exited out of it. Go back through those six screens. Want to set an alarm. Six screens later. Want to open something. Scroll for ages. Need to change a setting. Again, takes forever. I’m being a bit flippant here. But seriously, the Coros is so far behind the Apple Watch that it can’t even see the corner yet. If they would activate the touch screen on the Coros to allow you to have quick actions and actually be able to use it to scroll through things it would make life a lot easier. Instead they limit it to only a few things. Which I’m sure is part of the battery life. As the screens are dramatically different between the two. With the Coros being more of a old-school digital watch with the Apple Watch being an actual screen. But this is by far the reason why I dislike this watch so much. Is it is just difficult to do anything outside of track the time, steps, heart rate, workout with. And something that they seriously need to improve on. SMART FEATURES: Again, the Apple Watch destroys the Coros here as well. While the Coros has a lot of the same features. Because they are so hard to navigate to they are essentially useless. As pulling out your phone (or relying on it) is much easier. For example, Alarms, Timers, Calculator, Notifications, Replying to messages, etc. are all very easy on the Apple Watch. On the Coros I has no calculator and you can’t reply to messages. Or open them to see more information. Or see pictures. In general, it does a poor job. Which is why I say you should avoid this watch if you are wanting a lot of smart features. This should be seen as a heath/fitness device that also tells time. Over a Smart Watch. Additionally, loading trails, GPS, etc. requires you to go through the App itself. Which then downloads to the watch. Which again is a bit cumbersome. CONCLUSION: I’m on the fence. I’m in love with the fitness/health information this watch gives me. As it appears to be more accurate, easier to digest, easier to find (once you get through all the screens), lasts a lot longer, and is made of higher quality parts. But navigating anything outside of the basics is cumbersome and frustrating. Along with it being extremely bulky. Touch screen only works occasionally, no lock screen at night, no easy access to night mode (to turn off alerts), and has very limited smart watch features. Making it so I may only use this watch for training/working out. And my Apple Watch for day to day activities. But if you are a workout enthusiast. Or are wanting to take your training to the next level and are looking for a watch. Look no further. As this guy has got you.

In today’s world, there are so many smartwatch and sport watch options available it can be a bit overwhelming trying to decide what to buy. I’ve used a smartwatch from one of the well-known manufacturers for years and have been OK with the training and tracking capabilities. Recently, I had the opportunity to use the Coros Apex 2 Pro GPS Outdoor Watch. I was a bit hesitant initially, but soon realized Coros is not some fly-by-night company, and their outdoor GPS watches are up to the task! The Apex 2 Pro comes with the watch, charging cable, instructions, and a box. The charging cable is proprietary, which is a bit annoying as it adds another cable to my “smartwatch accessories bag”. On the upside, the Apex 2 Pro charges quickly and the battery life is amazing, so just remember where you left that cable! Although I was learning a new piece of hardware and the new-to-me Coros eco-system, the watch is very easy to set up and I was using it within minutes of opening the box. Simply download the Coros app, create an account and link the Apex 2 Pro and it’s ready for action. First Impressions – The overall size and design of the Apex 2 Pro is aesthetically pleasing and works well for either men or women. Although it’s similar in size to my Smartwatch, the round design and lack of bulky edges is welcome when wearing all day and while sleeping. The always on 1.3” touchscreen display is large enough to support multiple information fields, yet not so large you feel like you’re wearing a small computer on your wrist. The touchscreen responds well and has a locking feature to eliminate unwanted screen changes or accidental commands. Simply push in the digital crown for a few seconds and the screen is unlocked and ready for use. While locked, the display can be adjusted with the additional control buttons on the right bezel on the watch. There are so many features and functions on this watch, but my focus was to see how the GPS tracking worked, battery life, sleep tracking and training options. As an avid mountain biker and snowboarder, I want to be able to track my exercise but also have the tools to create ride and route mapping for future workouts or to assist in getting home when riding in unfamiliar terrain. Although it’s difficult to compare the Apex 2 Pro with previous models as I’ve never used them, the GNSS GPS chipset in this watch is incredible. It picks up a signal quickly and never lost it even when riding in thick tree-lined trails. Along with the incredible GPS tracking, the Apex 2 Pro also provides navigation aids to get you back home if you are unfamiliar with the terrain. There’s also an offline global map option which provides yet another layer of support when getting deep into the woods, mountains or anywhere your adventures take you! Battery Life – My current smartwatch needs to be on the charger almost daily if it’s GPS and smart features are being utilized. The Apex 2 Pro’s battery has been outstanding and it’s really become a game changer for me. The watch has been used constantly for over a week now included a mountain bike ride and a couple of days snowboarding using GPS tracking and the battery as of writing this review is at 41%. This is with an always-on display and with sleep tracking and other background features running. The claimed battery life is 24 days of normal day-to-day use and 66 hours with full GPS usage. Although I haven’t owned the Apex that long, I am confident those numbers will hold true. Just remember where you left the proprietary charging cable for when it’s needed. Coros App – Coros has done a great job with building their app. It offers so many different options for customizing the Apex watch as well as getting training advice and connecting to other supported apps such as Garmin in my case. The app home screen is broken into four areas: Progress, Activities, Explore and Profile. Progress is sort of the main screen and provides feedback on activities, recovery, heart rate, Sleep, Overnight HRV, Stress levels, etc. It’s easy to read and is customizable. Activities tracks all exercise, hikes, rides, etc. Explore is the mapping area and Profile is all of the user’s vital stats which feed into workouts, body metrics, recovery, etc. My main use so far has been using the activities area to track my rides. The maps are accurate and Coros provides all the activity and training metrics cleanly and easily. One of the features my previous watch doesn’t provide is Training Load. With the Coros App, a Low, Medium or High TL is provided for a specific activity, and it also ties into recovery metrics to assist with training and recovery cycles. Pros: - The Coros Apex 2 Pro is a good size for many users with a 1.3” display and round design - Designed to be taken on adventures with titanium bezel and sapphire glass display - Water resistant to 164 feet - Comfortable and adjustable nylon and Velcro sport band - Battery life is top-notch, lasting through multiple activities and daily use - Plethora of monitoring features with the Coros Optical Sensor - GPS accuracy and mapping features - Coros App for tracking activities, progress and training options available Cons: - Proprietary charging cable - Coros removed Ant+ sensor support on the Apex 2 Pro model In summary, the Coros Apex 2 Pro is a fantastic option for any outdoors focused athlete looking to track activity, set training goals and monitor personal health. It’s design and sizing is modern and comfortable to wear daily (and at night). There are features to satisfy even the most rabid athlete, and I would recommend this watch without hesitation.

The Coros Apex 2 Pro GPS Outdoor Watch is a high-performance timepiece designed for outdoor enthusiasts and athletes alike. The watch features a sleek and modern design with a robust build quality. The watch feels solid on the wrist. The nylon band is comfortable to wear for extended periods and doesn't cause irritation, even during intense workouts or long treks. The watch is big and is noticeable. I got a few “that’s a big watch” reactions from my friends as the Coros is noticeably larger than my Apple Watch Series 8 that I normally wear. Setup was easy. All I had to do was download the Coros app on my iPhone and link it to my watch. I used the included proprietary cable to charge my watch to 100% before I used it. One of the standout features of the Coros Apex 2 Pro is its advanced GPS tracking capabilities. Whether you're hiking through rugged terrain or cycling through the city, the watch accurately tracks your location and provides detailed metrics such as distance, pace, and elevation gain. The inclusion of a barometric altimeter ensures precise altitude data, which is crucial for outdoor activities. Moreover, the Apex 2 Pro offers a variety of sport modes tailored to different activities, including running, swimming, cycling, and more. Each mode provides specific metrics relevant to the activity, allowing you to analyze your performance and progress over time. There are a lot more modes which provide more detailed info than on my Apple Watch, which was one of the main reasons I got the Coros watch. Battery life is another area where the Apex 2 Pro shines. With up to 30 days of regular use and 75 hours of continuous GPS tracking on a single charge, you can rely on this watch for extended adventures without worrying about running out of power. The one drawback to this watch is the screen is just not that bright, especially indoors. This seems to be the tradeoff to get the excellent battery life. Outside, the LCD screen seems brighter and is easier to read. The watch also features smart notifications, allowing you to stay connected without having to constantly check your phone. You can receive calls, texts, and app notifications directly on your wrist, ensuring you never miss an important message while on the go. Navigating through the various features and menus of the Coros Apex 2 Pro is a breeze thanks to its intuitive interface. The digital crown on the watch brings up the interface options. The watch's interface is well-organized, making it easy to access the information you need during your activities. The inclusion of customizable data screens allows you to personalize your workout metrics according to your preferences, ensuring that you have access to the most relevant information at a glance. Overall, the Coros Apex 2 Pro GPS Outdoor Watch is a feature-packed companion for outdoor enthusiasts and athletes seeking accurate tracking, long battery life, and durability in a stylish package. While it may not have the same app ecosystem as some competitors, its performance and reliability make it a worthy investment for anyone serious about their outdoor pursuits.

The Coros Apex 2 Pro GPS Fitness Watch is a solid pick for anyone into tech that makes life easier, especially if you’re into keeping active without going too hardcore. It swaps out the fancy OLED screens for a LED one that’s way kinder on the battery. This thing amazed me because after unboxing it with a 77% charge, it hung on strong down to 29% after 10 straight days. That’s with me doing my regular around the house calisthenics and sleep tracking. It’s got this cool set of features that doesn’t bug you too much but keeps you in the loop. I've been wearing a Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Pro, and while that’s a neat piece of gear, it couldn’t hold a candle to this one’s battery life. Plus, the Apex 2 Pro has this smart lock thing that stops me from accidentally triggering a workout session, which I didn’t even know I needed till I had it. And let’s talk about the look and feel of this watch. It’s got this durable bezel and a velcro/fabric band that feels good on the wrist and can take a bit of a beating. Opening up the box was a whole experience too. It’s got that premium vibe with some stickers and a manual that doesn’t just feel like an afterthought. It’s like they know you want the quality without making it too fancy. Even though this review sounds like all praise, there are minor downsides. You can’t take calls directly on it, which is a bit of a bummer, but honestly, when you get over 10 days of battery life, that’s a trade-off I’m willing to live with. Taking a moment to speak on the Coros app: It is pretty comprehensive a geared towards the fitness enthusiast. The app shows you your steps, calories burned, workout progress, and health stats as soon as you open it. It’s like having a fitness coach in your pocket, tracking your runs, analyzing your sleep, and checking your heart health. You can personalize it to fit your vibe, from watch faces to fitness goals, and the social features keep you connected and motivated. Although can feel densely packed with features, the UX design is driven by purpose and function. For those on the fence about getting a smartwatch or fitness tracker, the Coros Apex 2 Pro is definitely worth a look. It hits that sweet spot between being too casual and too techy, making it perfect for someone who wants a blend of both without going too deep into either.

I've been a Garmin man for most of my life however after doing some research on Coros and seeing glowing reviews, I decided to give this watch a try. Pros: This watch feels and looks nice on my wrist. It's a nice snug fit and I have no problem sleeping with it on. It has a plethora of different activity trackers that can be easily customized. Love the copious amounts of different watch faces to choose from. Software was super easy to set up with the app and the app allows alot more easier customization versus trying to change everything on the watch. The battery life is pretty solid, I've been wearing it for about a week and it still says I have another 20 days of battery (non-gps). Tracking of heart rate and blood oxygen is great and super accurate. Cons: I thought the screen was clear and nice however I wish it could get a little bit brighter in light scenarios. I think it looks great in the dark though. Overall a very solid and rugged watch with a very clean look. Think i've become a new Coros fan.

The Coros Apex 2 Pro is a fantastic piece of hardware that gives me so much useful information and data. Jam packed with features and a real aid to helping improve your athletic pursuits. The watch is very comfortable for me and feels lightweight. The styling is very nice and looks rugged and classy at the same time. Very rugged looks with a nice round bezel that measures at about 1.3 inches of display size and a resolution of 260 x 260 with 64 colors. The screen is also a touch screen with sapphire glass so it should withstand scratches during your physical activities. The bezel is grade 5 titanium alloy with PVD coating, which helps to keep this light and not weigh my wrist down. The 22mm nylon band is very nice with a velcro style quick release which I find to be super convenient, but also ensures a solid closure when worn. This strap is also nice because it dries fairly quickly when worn during a downpour on a run, in the shower, or for a swim. Three button design on the bezel is easy to navigate and operate, and this can be worn on either wrist. I'm using an iPhone and the bluetooth capability works well for connectivity with my Coros app and wifi. I've noticed that I've gotten a week of usage with the watch and it's capable of 66 hours of battery life. The watch has water resistance of up to 5 ATM, and I've only used it swimming in the pool so far and didn't test out depth ability. The watch can get a full charge in under 2 hours with the provided USB charging cable, as you'll need an available USB port to connect to. The watch allows for 32GB of internal memory and gives you the ability to store music files on your watch. Syncs up with compatible apps such Apple Health, Strava, Nike Run Club, and more. There are so many useful features I have been impressed with while using the Coros Apex 2 Pro. The watch is a powerful device that stays well connected to GPS even in remote areas of wilderness on trail runs. The GPS as mentioned will also connect to all five major satellite systems and track your location quite accurately for speed, elevation, and additional relevant data. The easy to use dial is helpful while in action because it allows for easy viewing on the display while you scroll through the data being collected. Planning your route ahead of time for a hike or run is excellent with the app and the watch together. Use the route guidance to keep you on track and ensure you don't deviate from your planned route. Using the watch when paired with my iPhone also allows me to get notifications from my smartphone in a limited format. Using the watch over the past couple of weeks has given me a wealth of data that helps me to ensure I'm training and resting for optimal fitness. There are so many data points that I can obtain from this Coros Apex 2 Pro analyzing my body. Helps me to train in a way that I work hard but don't burn myself out. The watch will give me guidance on how long it will take me to recover from my previous workouts so that I can minimize the risk of injury. Using the Coros account online with my data gives me a metrics dashboard that gives me lots of training plans and workouts that I can create. Impressive watch meant for anyone looking to spend time outdoors and maximize their workouts and outings. The GPS is highly accurate and helps to track your elevation and location. The data the watch gathers can help you to be a better athlete. The style and rugged looks are fantastic and I really like standing out from the crowd. Loving this watch and all of it's capability. The Coros app is well designed and very useful on the phone and also on a computer.

At first glance, the only thing impressive about the Coros Apex2 pro is its robustness. When I picked this up, I thought "wow, they've made a high-tech sports watch look like something from 2000". I was wrong. You have to spend some time with this bad boy to realize how elegantly it presents the wealth of data and options offered. First step- get the Coros app, and discover the myriad watch faces (this made everything better!) and then dig into the app AND their website to learn all the health and location tracking features. There are far too many to mention here. Highlights for me? Multiple sourced satellites for tracking. This is extremely important for me as I'm an avid hiker and mountain trail runner. I love that I get location-based storm alerts. It's water-resistant, according to the manufacturer, to a depth of 50 meters (5 ATM). I love the glove (and no-look)-friendly large digital dial for scrolling all the features. I have to say it now, battery life is awesome. I have gone nearly three days without charging. And it only takes 2 hours to fully recharge. While that's convenient, the more important factor is there's no panicking about losing reception and burning down the battery while out in the wild. Speaking of wilderness, the location services are also impressive. You can track sun movement, record checkpoints, check elevation, (and barometric pressure) and know your distance to a predetermined destination- which you can plan by drawing a desire route on the phone app. Cool. Other features I'm just learning to use and appreciate include (health) Recovery tracking, (phone) camera control, and even nutrition alerts. Heart and sleep sensors? Yes, of course. Thus far it seems much more accurate than my popular non-sport watch. Also, there are sport modes that track relevant details (miles, speed and elevation for skiers is one example) Finally, there are many, many workouts you can donwnload- or create your own. Cool again.

The look and feel of this watch is top notch. The internals with GPS are outstanding. The band is creative and quite honestly kind of cool. It feels great on wrist, almost like it is not there. Titanium frame, just outstanding. First thing I noticed with the watch was the weight, I thought it would feel heavy on wrist, I was wrong. It is perfectly balanced and supported by the watch band. It looks absolutely fantastic. Battery life has been crazy good. I am seeing less than 3% battery use on a light day with no GPS use. The GPS is excellent and gives great accuracy. I would estimate within 10 feet of where I am the GPS tracks me. Probably better, I think the map was slightly off. GPS connection was almost instant when outdoors. The sensors all seem to be extremely accurate. HR etc seem to be spot on. The build quality is outstanding. I don't doubt this will take a beating and not even flinch. Just great quality. There are a ton of watch faces available. Now for the drawbacks. It sounds like I love the watch. But there are some things that I can't get past. The app is very convoluted for Android. It really needs to be better designed and more straight forward. The watch is preinstalled with all the workouts out of the box. It felt like it took forever to remove them and keep only those I would use. Configuration failed multiple times. Wi-Fi setup was overly convoluted with Android. My biggest issue with the watch is the most important part of any watch. The face/screen. First, this is not a touch screen, all navigation is done via crown or buttons. The screen will lock randomly, I have not figured out what timeout occurs for the screen lock. To unlock you hold the crown for a couple seconds. Not the easiest thing to do while biking. On the other hand, randomly the screen unlocks for some reason and I end up navigating with the back of my hand unknowingly. The screen is very washed out. I have tried many watch faces and they are all very faint and hard to see outside or inside, especially at a glance with the screen lock enabled. I thought it was just me, but my wife and kids agree that the watch face is hard to see at times and definitely in bright areas. The most used and noticed part of thew watch is the screen. I just can't get past this portion of the watch. I would love to see the tilt of wrist auto brighten the screen. I could get by the washed out look if the screen reacted better, brighter and easier while you are doing other things like biking. This is easily designed to be a watch that can take a beating and keep on ... oh that would be infringing on other watch marketing... and keep on working. It does a great job with tracking location and vitals. But the one issue I can't get past is the screen. If you like the look of the display, by all means this is a great watch. I just want the entire package and the most used interface is hard to navigate and not very bright nor crisp.

Hey there! Thank you for sharing your review of the APEX 2 Pro. We'd like to respond here to shed some light on a few of your points to potentially enhance your user experience.

The app settings- To personalize your watch activity menu, you can quickly do so on the COROS app. To edit the activity modes on your watch, you can conviently go to COROS app and clicking Profile > Click on Watch> Customization > Activity Menu. Here you can adjust which activities are on your watch. Please be sure to sync your watch with your app on a consistent basis so that your settings are up to date!

Touch Screen. - Your watch does have a touch screen, it is just a matter of turning it on. Long press the back button on your watch to access the toolbox. From here scroll to Settings > More Settings > Touch Screen> and toggle to selecting Maps or Maps + Activity or Always on.
Screen Lock- You can adjust your settings for Auto Lock on the screen of your watch if it is not your preference. This support article will explain the step by step actions to take to adjust your settings. You can choose to scroll to unlock, hold the dial to unlock, or completely toggle it off. https://support.coros.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039836552-How-to-unlock-the-screen-or-deal-with-unresponsive-buttons

Screen Brightness- Due to the nature of the MIP screen used on COROS watches, the visibility is the best when used in outdoor environments under direct sunlight. The stronger the sunlight is, the better the screen visibility is. Please check out this support article which highlights some tips in optimizing your screen visibility.  https://support.coros.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039840412-Tips-for-backlight-and-screen-visibility

Watch Backlight: Raising your wrist and button operations will activate the backlight for 10 seconds. The brightness of the backlight should be enough for darker environments or indoor use. Unfortunately, you can’t change the brightness level of the backlight at this time. Please make sure that your settings are optimized for your personal preference. Main watch face > System > More Settings > Gesture Backlight > OFF or ON.
