Customers are saying

Customers are satisfied with the HS45 SURROUND Wired Stereo Gaming Headset's sound quality and comfort. Many appreciate its lightweight design, detachable microphone, and reasonable price. While some users found the bass response lacking or excessive depending on their preference, and others noted minor software or volume-related issues, the positive feedback on sound, comfort, and price outweighs the negative. The headset's compatibility with multiple devices is also a frequently cited advantage.

Even Being A “Gaming” Headset It Is So High Quality And Sounds Like A Studio Headset, The Surround Sound Is Realistic And Helps You Get into A Game Very Quickly, Strange That The Box Both Said Stereo And Surround Sound But The Construction Feels Great And Its Easy To Use But If The Audio Doesn’t Work First Try Check If The Surround Sound Adapter Is Fully Plugged In, But Overall Amazing Product

The Corsair HS45 Surround – Stereo Gaming Headset with 7.1 Surround Sound is a well-designed headset that is not only useful for gaming applications, but it is also just as useful for more serious needs such as web conferencing, or any other use for a headset. This adds to the value that this headset provides; especially with the budget-friendly $49.99 price tag. This review will be done in 3 parts – features, usage impressions, and pros/cons. Features: The features of this entry-level gaming headset are well thought out and useful. This wired headset provides multiple ways of listening to audio on your devices (PC- either directly or using the USB external sound card), cell phone, tablet, or game controller). The headset comes with a USB external sound card for use with the PC, a detachable boom mic, and user documentation. This headset is made of quality plastic and metal materials that help it to be used for long usage periods of gaming. This headset is an over the ear design allowing one to concentrate on the task at hand - be it a teleconference, listening to music, watching a moving, or a gaming session. The earpieces do provide some level of noise reduction due to the padded design. The headset uses Corsair's iCUE software to aid one in adjusting the settings especially when using the device with the included 7.1 Surround Sound USB adapter for PC. The software provides for 5 EQ presets – Pure Direct, Movie Theater, FPS Competition, Clear Chat, and Bass Boost – to aid you in your listening enjoyment and the activity you are using the headset to enjoy. You can also create and save your own presets to further customize your listening. You can also turn the 7.1 surround sound on or off as desired in the software. The ICUE software appears to have many uses across the Corsair product line and can different things for different devices. Usage Impressions: The headset is a nice addition to one’s setup, especially for those just starting to use a headset for their gaming. The price point especially allows one to begin using a headset for a relatively inexpensive manner and have the benefits of 7.1 surround sound while gaming. I tested the headset using multiple tracks that were recommended for testing audio systems to test them across the sound spectrum form deep base to soaring highs. The tracks allow testing spatial separation of sounds and the dynamic ranges of the piece being played. From all of these tracks, the sounds were very good. While they may not have been as good as other headsets I have tested and reviewed, they were still very good. This headset might be a little bit “tinnier” than these other headsets; but not enough to be a large distraction. The 7.1 surround sound adapter and the detachable boom mic are nice additions. For audio and video conferencing functionality, this headset works well. The headset and accessories are portable enough that one can travel with the headset and take advantage of it for a quality audio experience for this use case. The mute function via the button on the back of the left earcup is well-positioned. The volume control is also on the headset and works well but does not actually adjust the systems volume level as you raise or lower the volume on the headset. I also testing this headset via a wired connection to my cell phone and the audio qualities extended to that use case as well. Pros: Price/value, Audio quality, versatility via the iCUE software Cons: Not as portable as it could be

You Won’t Miss a Beat In Music or Gaming

In Box: Headset with attached cord 7.1 surround sound USB adapter Microphone Instruction User Guide Features: 7.1 surround sound for your PC. The noise-cancelling unidirectional microphone (adjustable and detachable). Comfortable mesh and memory foam ear pads. On-ear volume & mute button. Headband adjustable for comfort. Download – Conair iCUE software. This headset is not just for gaming. The surround sound is perfect for gaming in multiplayer battles (quick and clear response to hear what is around the corner for you to confront), yet great for listening to music and not missing a beat. The Corsair surround sound wired gaming headset includes a 7.1 surround sound USB adapter for your PC, otherwise it is in stereo mode. IMPORTANT NOTE: The 7.1 surround sound USB adapter requires a high power port (USB 2.0 or better). Good to know just in case you have a really old PC. Without the iCUE software download, some features will not be enabled. You will probably want this to use the equalizer to get the exact sounds you enjoy on your headset. With the software, you can adjust the microphone volume, change your equalizer settings and turn your surround sound on or off. Recommendation: The price is very reasonable. Quality is great for novice game players. I even found listening to music enjoyable with this headset. For the price of this, you can’t go wrong.

The Corsair HS45 Surround is a budget headset, with good sound and good all around comfort. It offers a noise cancelling mic, and surround sound on PCs using the provided USB dongle, or standard stereo with it's 3.5 mm plug. It's soft ear pieces come with plenty of headband support, and it's light weight should allow you to wear this for many hours without issue. The microphone mute button and volume wheel are on the left hand side of the HS45 Surround, keeping the controls in easy reach. The microphone is detachable, but it's a fixed mount, and adjusting the mic is done with its flexible boom. Its sound quality is much better than you might expect to find at this price. Build quality seems solid, and the sound quality is on par with headsets in this price range, which is very good and not that much below those of the premium headsets. It does us 50mm drivers rather than the more common 40mm drivers found in this price range, which does improve the sound a bit. The HS45 Surround is a very affordable headset with solid sound, decent features and offers excellent comfort.

This Corsair HS45 headset is multi-platform and it is excellent for casual PC and console gaming. The design is basic, very lightweight, and it does not compromise audio quality. Suitable for daily use or entry-level gamer. The microphone arm is detachable and works as expected — noise cancellation seam to work reasonably well since my friends hear me clearly, especially during intense gaming. The headset has an excellent aesthetic design, color is black matte, and it is incredibly lightweight. The set is entirely plastic, except for the metal piece, which guides the ear cups extension. Ear cups are an oval shape(which fit well on my ear) and cushioned with soft mesh fabric and plush memory foam. The lightweight and ear cups design make the headset comfortable for long hour usage. Buttons and controls are easy to locate and use; they are not complicated at all. Included is a 3.5 mm to USB adapter that makes this headset great as a multi-platform; I use it with PC games and XBOX One console. If using on a PC, I highly recommend using the USB adapter and downloading the Corsair iCue software; with both, I experience the full 7.1 surround sound quality. The software enables more features, such as adjusting the surround sound, audio equalizer, and the microphone input volume. Overall, this headset feels nice, very comfortable, the surround sound is clean, and it is excellent for gaming. I have not encountered any issue wearing the headset for long hours.

Needed a simple headset to play video games with my friends and this did the job just fine as far as microphone and audio quality. However the included USB adapter would malfunction and I needed to disconnect then reconnect it multiple times during individual game sessions and the plastic headband snapped after about 4 and a half months when simply removing the headphones, not even having used them daily.

    Fantastic Low-Cost Gaming Headset

A low cost, simple gaming headset that uses the traditional Corsair padding for both the ears and top of head. The microphone is detachable (for travel, storage, upgrading, etc), however the cable is not. The sizing adjustments have just greater than 8 full stops, giving plenty of room, even for my melon. Volume and mic-mute are located on the left headphone, where the microphone is also located. The ear pieces are ‘truly’ “over the ear” for me, whereas my other gaming headphones are ‘mostly’ over the ear. During the iCUE software install, I was alerted that some running NVIDIA software was a conflict during install and needed to be closed. The installer was able to close the ‘offenders’ and continue with install. A reboot was needed -- but even if it wasn’t, I would have rebooted due to it closing some of my graphics apps. The iCUE app can’t be made under 1200px wide, so I can’t use my vertical 16:10 (1200x1920) screen to keep the app open without losing what’s on the sides (image attached). There isn’t much customization for the headphones in the App, so here’s what you can do. Make presets for how things sound and flip from Stereo -> 7.1 surround. iCUE doesn’t allow you to test your mic, so you don’t know what you sound like. I used the Logitech DAC to record audio from the headset and even without the BlueVO!CE manipulation, the headset did sound pretty decent; some obvious ‘pops’ with certain words/sounds, but for a budget headset, this thing is alright! After removing the DAC and going traditional analog, I immediately noticed that there is a substantial clarity difference between using the USB Adapter / Decoder & using traditional 3.5mm plug on “Stereo” mode. As for the in-game sound, I was pleasantly surprised! For the PC, in CS:GO Dust II, I caught myself looking to the side when I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. On the Switch, some great sloshing sounds can be heard Splatoon II. So, yes - I recommend this headset and with some saved up Best Buy points and a sale, you can get probably get this thing for under $40, which is a steal!

This headset is comfortable and easy to adjust, but the headband just snapped yesterday after 12 months of use. The microphone picks up *all* the sound in the room, so I had to get a different headset with a noise-cancelling mic for team calls.

The headset is comfortable and feels like a solid build. It has good but not overwhelming surround sound audio. The ability to attach and detach the microphone is a big plus considering I have my own separate mic so it makes it less of a hassle to set up. I also like that I can use this for either my PC gaming or my PS4 gaming. It would be great if Corsair offered a version of this headset that is noise canceling. All in all a good buy and good quality headset from a well known brand.

The Corsair HS45 Gaming Headset with 7.1 Surround Sound is the perfect headset for throwing into your pack and traveling. I was impressed with the sound quality and the durability for such a reasonable price. The sound quality is crisp and has enough range to satisfy my gaming needs. The microphone delivers excellent voice quality along with reducing any background noise. I really appreciate the solid connection for the microphone and being able to adjust it easily. I like the position of the volume control and the mute button. The size adjustment is snug. When fully collapsed, it felt a little tight, but when I extended the earcups, it was more comfortable. The use of the USB adapter for enabling the 7.1 surround sound is amazing. It adds depth and directional sound to the gaming experience. It even improved the quality of music. I especially appreciate the durability of this headset. I can throw them into my backpack without worrying about damage. The cord is durable and comes with a rubber cord wrap. A small rubber cap covers the hole for the mic connection. It is easy to lose, but an extra is included in the packaging. A nice addition would have been a cloth drawstring bag for holding the headset, mic, and USB adapter. They don't compare with my expensive headphones for listening to music, but for gaming and chatting, they are perfect.

I bought this for my daugther for her gaming sessions and she thought they were very comfortable and her friend hear her clearly. When i tried them on, they felt really comfortable and not too heavy. They are good for long gaming sessions. Though i would have like buying her the wireless version, this works across her devices such as her iPad. This is a good value!

The Corsair HS45 SURROUND is a really good budget headset. First off, it's INSANELY comfortable. Out of 4 different headsets I've had, this one took the prize for most comfortable. Onto the sound quality, DON'T USE THE USB ADAPTER FOR GAMING. When I used the USB adapter, it sets itself to Surround Sound mode, and I've noticed some audio cutting out in-game. It's like it can't decide which side to display the noise on, so it just doesn't display it at all. I've switched on the iCue software between modes, and there's no difference. The audio quality isn't as good sounding on the 3.5MM, but I would recommend using the 3.5MM for gaming, and the USB adapter for music listening and video watching. Overall, however, the audio using the 3.5MM is still very good and very clear. Just don't use the USB adapter if you're gaming. Onto the mic, it's not bad. I really wish it would've come with a Mic Windscreen (Puff Ball), but it didn't. Fortunately, I had a puffball from an older headset I have. I would absolutely recommend getting a puffball because if you don't, you can hear breathing into the mic, which sounds bad. However, the mic still sounds quite good. Headset mics generally aren't that great, and this mic isn't really all that better. However, it's very easy to understand what people are saying, and it doesn't peak unless if you talk really loudly, which is nice. If you're looking to get a well-priced headset with a good mic for gaming, go for this headset. Overall, this headset is a 4/5. The audio quality is really good, but I wish the USB adapter was good and didn't cut out on the audio. This can be solved by just using the 3.5MM, however. The microphone is pretty good, it's about what you'd expect from a headset. If you're looking for a very good budget headset, go for this headset.

I bought this headset in order to use while working from home - for Zoom meetings, Cisco Jabber calls and for listening to music online during the work day. I'm not an audiophile, but I know when headphones don't suck. And these do not suck. I'm very pleased with the sound and, from what I've heard from colleagues, the mic sounds great, as well. Also, the ear pads are very snug and comfortable around my ears. The whole headset does not feel heavy or bulky - I often don't realize that I'm wearing something that is covering my ears or there is a band over my head. 5 stars. I very happy and impressed by the quality and price of this headset.

I'm doing a lot of remote support these days, and using Teams and Zoom often for work. It's hard to find the light-weight office-style headsets now, so I bought this for me and cleaned up my other headset for a customer service rep, since they have to use them all day. This is better for me -- sounds better for music, when I have time for that, and works well for video calls during the limited time I do those. The headset has an iPhone-style segmented 3.5mm audio plug, so it works with my iPad for video calling, and it has a USB adapter for my work PC, which does not support the segmented 3.5mm audio plug for more than just headphone use.

I bought this as a step up from a basic Logitech headset I was provided for work. Since then i've used it for gaming, movie watching and video calls. It is surprising how comfortable this is and how good the virtual 5.1 sound is. The bass is a little too heavy for music, but it works great for movies and games. Overall, a good choice for a budget.

My microphone jack is broken on my PC so I needed a headset I could plug into a usb port. I searched everywhere for a inexpensive solution that would deliver a stereo listening experience with a microphone that didn't sound bootleg. The Corsair HS45 Surround Wired Stereo Gaming Headset wasn't with the other gaming headsets at Best Buy, but boy am I glad that I searched around long enough to find them! The padding for the earpiece circles my ears without compressing my average sized ears to my head. This design allows for hours of comfortable wearing! The sound quality is very decent as well. I found myself getting jiggy with it whilst listening to music on these bad boys. Thank you, Corsair!
