Customers are saying

Customers are satisfied with the HS45 SURROUND Wired Stereo Gaming Headset's sound quality and comfort. Many appreciate its lightweight design, detachable microphone, and reasonable price. While some users found the bass response lacking or excessive depending on their preference, and others noted minor software or volume-related issues, the positive feedback on sound, comfort, and price outweighs the negative. The headset's compatibility with multiple devices is also a frequently cited advantage.

Got these in august and they were fine. Wire tends to coil up. It is now Jan and they no longer work. After five months they stopped working is not a good quality product. Especially when your kids are upset over it. Not worth getting.

I’ve used this headset for my Xbox, and it’s had some issues sometimes where it won’t connect. It’ll often do static over the microphone, and the volume slider will easily get knocked around when you momentarily take off the headset. Would recommend, but this has a fairly poor build quality.

I suppose these are ok for $30, but the sound quality is quite terrible if you're looking for something to help you win games. I would use these for non competitive games and never for FPS games. They are seriously bad for FPS.

These were recognized right away by my Windows 10 PC without the need to install any additional drivers or software however if you want to take advantage of the added features along with experiencing 7.1 surround sound you need to install Corsair's ICUE software. I'm a huge Corsair fan so I already had ICUE installed for my keyboard and mouse however I did have to update to the latest version so it would recognize the H45. Unfortunately that's where I experienced a big problem. Upon installation of the new version of ICUE my headset would drop and add frequently and add to the frustration I started getting the dreaded "Blue Screen of Death" (BSOD). I tried uninstalling the drivers and then uninstalled ICUE and got so frustrated I tossed the H45 back in the box from whence it came. I was running a DAC so I thought possibly that could be interfering with the headset so I uninstalled ICUE, uninstalled my DAC driver and software and then rebooted. Upon the reboot I reinstalled ICUE and then plugged in the headset and fortunately I have not had a BSOD since... fingers crossed. However I am a bit upset that I lost the use of my DAC. Now that I played a few hours with the headset here are my observations: - The HS45 headset is fairly lightweight however with the plastic they do have a cheap feel to them. They are also very plain looking with no frills. - The sound is good considering the price point of under $50. Kicking it into 7.1 using ICUE added a better experience in FPS games as I could hear sounds behind me. - The headset does have a 3.5mm stereo/mic plug that you can plug into any 3.5mm audio jack however ICUE with the provided 3.5mm to USB dongle does give you 7.1 surround sound and an equalizer to fine tune your output. - Earcup padding is adequate but not near as comfortable as my higher priced headset. I wore for about 2 hours without any discomfort. - The mic boom is removable which is a nice feature if you want them more as a plain headset - On the left earcup there is a volume wheel and mic mute button. Controls are easy to get used to and placement is instinctive to reach. I can easily see myself using these for video conferencing as well as gaming. I do wish that gaming headset manufacturers would start providing a carry bag at least so I can easily toss in in my gear bag. All in all a great headset for the price, worth every penny!

The Corsair HS45 is a entry level headset for those looking for a decent 7.1 headset without breaking the bank. Anytime you look at budget headsets the last thing you want to do is sacrifice quality. Let's dive in to this review and figure out if this is going to be a good buy. First lets talk about what you can expect to receive out of the box. Your going to get the main headset, 3.5 mm detachable mic, 3.5 mm audio cable, and the 3.5 mm to usb adapter. First impression of the design was that it definitely looked very simplistic. The band and earcups appeared to very basic and your buttons are limited to a volume wheel and mute button to toggle voice chat on and off. This is fine as i didn't expect much flash on a budget set, however what matters most to me is audio/voice quality and comfort levels during high levels of gaming. First lets talk about the audio quality and voice chat for a second. Voice chat is actually pretty good with voice output being crystal clear and very low to no ambient noise bleed through. This headset boast about having noise cancellation on the mic side and one thing i can say is it seems to do a pretty good job. While on discord on voice quality was good with no drop outs or interference. I wanted to really test the noise cancellation so i put some music on and my ceiling fan set to medium. Most times when im on discord most of my teammates often complain about my fan the most due to it bleeding through. This time around i asked if anyone could hear it and the noise cancellation worked so well that no one even knew i had the fan on. My music did get through the mic but while on the medium volume setting it was very minimal and not much of and issue to really cause a disturbance for my teammates. The good thing about this headset is the fact that it is pretty much universal. What i mean by this is you can use to game on xbox, ps4 and pc. If your not gaming on pc but rather find yourself on console, you can still be a part of discord via the 3.5 mm cable and your phone through the discord app. However in order to truly utilize the 7.1 channel surround sound you will need to use the usb adapter. Let's move to the next reason for buying this headset and that is sound quality. Sound quality was actually very impressive at this price point. Audio quality was crystal clear with no static distortion or muffling of the lower bass sounds. I did notice however a big difference in sound between the PC and console gaming. While on PC that's when i noticed the headset shinned the best. The headset uses Corsair's ICue software to be able to get in to the settings and modify your audio preference based on the gaming your doing and then map them to presets. When i saw the ICue software i thought there would be some RGB set up on this headset however there is not. Not that big of a deal as i really don't care for RGB on my headset as it can be distracting for me during gameplay. The headset can be switched between stereo sound and 7.1. With the built in equilizers you can build your audio set up based on the gameplay you plan on doing. Example you plan on playing FPS then you may want to favor the heavier bass and mids more. Playing some MMO's? Then you may want to configuring a setting that has more emphasis on voice and highs. The 7.1 channel surround sound does a good job at placement of audio that during pvp matches you are able to pick up sound and the direction your enemy is coming in order to help give you the upper hand. Here's my final take away guys. Over all this is a budget headset so don't expect flash or a fancy build. However one thing i will say is this is hands down the best headset at this price point that i have ever tested. Even though it comes at a lower price point Corsair did a very good job at cutting cost where it needed to be and added quality where it should be. The design is basic but the audio and chat quality are superb. Voice chat always been a issue for you on discord? This headset will solve that problem for you. While i wouldn't exactly recommend it for streaming it is perfect for causal online gaming with your friends and ally's. Over all if your looking to get in to a good set while on a budget this headset is a sure fire way to go and is bound to leave you satisfied.

So for this price point I wasn't expecting these things to blow me away or even be remotely close to my Astro A50 or Logitech Elite headphones but they were actually pretty darn good! I plugged them directly into my XBOX One controller as well as into my Logitech USB controller that my Elite's plug into just for kicks and giggles. The sound was very clear with me being able to hear other players in COD MW as they were approaching me. They are also very comfortable to wear and I was able to chat without any issues. I did go into my headset settings in the XBOX options to ensure that the audio was turned up to the max with the right amount of chat/game audio how I wanted it. I also like the ability to quickly adjust the audio on the headset and there is a mute button you just push in on the headset to mute the microphone. Overall for the price I was pleasantly surprised by how clear the sound quality was with this headset and sounds I was able to hear while wearing them and playing COD MW. The construction feels pretty solid and I have only had them for a few weeks but they feel like they will stand up over time.

Pro: -Lightweight and comfortable -Detachable mic -Stereo 3.5 jack or 7.1 USB Con: -Feels flimsy -Simulated 7.1 surround has some distortions This is a nice budget headphone. It may feel somewhat plasticy and a bit flimsy, but it’s light and doesn’t have heavy clamping force making it much more comfortable. The foam is nice and plush. There’s no advanced control other than volume dial and the mic mute button. The stereo sound by itself is good. It’s clear and has enough bass to emphasize loud booms and explosions. When the simulated 7.1 is turned on, it improves on the sound direction and space a bit, but also adds some post processing distortion. During gameplay, sometimes there’s a slight metallic echo to it. It doesn’t sound terrible but at times it’s noticeable, especially during some dialogue scenes. The mic is fine. It’s not the best but your voice will come through clear with no echoing or hollow sound to it. It’ll pick up some background noise, but minimal. The mic is compact, flexible, and removable. There’s two rubber plugs included to keep the dust out, but I’d imagine it won’t be long till they’re lost. Within iCue, you can toggle between stereo and 7.1 as well as adjust the EQ. Between the 5 presets, I didn’t notice much of a difference so I just left it at Pure Direct. You can also create your own profile and link it to a program and customize your icons and background. For the price, these are really good. They’re comfortable, and the audio is clear. The 7.1 can add some unwanted echo or distortion sometimes, but for the most part is still good. It’s also nice that it can either use a headphone jack or the USB dongle. Definitely a good bang for the buck.
