Feature packed, long battery life
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Corsair HS80 Max is a fantastic feature packed gaming headset. If you’re looking for a great all around gaming headset, you don’t need to look any further. With its numerous connection options, low-latency 2.4GHz and bluetooth, you can connect your PC, Mac, PlayStation, mobile device, and more. Switching between 2.4GHz and Bluetooth is quick and easy with a simple press of a button. The 50mm high-density neodymium drivers produce sensational sound, especially when you’re immersed with the Dolby Atmos spatial audio. Communicating with your teammates is easy with the clarity of the omni-directional microphone, especially when paired with the NVIDIA Broadcast technology limiting background noise and echo. Battery life is stunning, ranging from 24 hours maxed out with full RGB, 65 hours running without RGB on 2.4GHz, and up to an amazing 130 hours on Bluetooth without RGB. On top of that, weaning the headset for long periods of time isn’t a problem either with the stress-free floating headband and plush memory foam ear pads. The headset also had an aluminum reinforced frame, so the headset is durable and comfortable. If you’re searching for a fantastic sounding gaming headset, from a reliable brand, that has the endurance to go the mile, you definitely need to give the HS80 Max a try.

A great headset for gaming
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HS80 Max is a good headset for folks who play games across platforms. The USB wireless dongle is compatible with PC and Playstation. The Bluetooth is for Nintendo switch or phones/tablets. The headset sound seems geared directly for gaming and video content. You can use it on PC with Corsair’s iCue software and the 2.4GHz wireless dongle for control of the RGB on the headset. I ran with the RGB on and off, and strangely, they sound exactly the same either way! I like the RGB ring on the mic boom, it switches to red when you are muted. The mic mutes by flipping up or you can set a shortcut in the iCue software for a headset button shortcut. There are a lot of functions available for the button programming on the headset, a very nice feature. I think I’m going to map my volume wheel click to the Discord mute keybind like a cough button? You can use iCue for keystrokes, voice mods, your own voice loopback and others. The inclusion of Dolby Atmos is a nice perk. I tested a few games, The Division 2, Battlefield 2042, and Destiny 2. I found my directional awareness based on sounds was not terribly accurate. I do not get a feel of any directional indications beyond left/right even though Atmos is enabled and selected for the headset. I have another headset that is wired that uses Atmos, and it has much more of a directional feel. The sound in games and movies is very good though, plenty of bass and high end for brass and strings. Gun sounds get a little boost from the low-mid bump in the sound, which is fun. I did not think it was great for music, the sound feels almost too close, I’m very aware that I am wearing a headset and that headset isn’t wowing me with outstanding clarity or soundstage. I don't expect to ever use these for music listening, though. The 2.4GHz wireless dongle seems to have slightly better sound than a Bluetooth connection, but that could just be a little confirmation bias on my part. The other thing to note is that this headset will not do multipoint, which means if you are in Bluetooth mode or wireless dongle mode, it stays that way until you switch it. Some headsets will let you connect to your phone and have game sound mixed with sound or music from your phone. This headset does not do that. The microphone is stellar. I get similar sound to my desktop mic, which is really impressive. Other gamers in chat on TeamSpeak and Discord said it sounds great as well. Corsair headsets and my giant noggin have been at odds since I tried my first set years ago. I’ve enjoyed the quality of all the other Corsair gear I’ve had (and still have) with few hiccups. The headsets, however, treat my skull like a weak child doing their best to crush my head from above my ears. These are a little better. The suspension band style seems to allow just that little bit more room that they just fit. I think if you have a giant head, you’ll want to try them on in the store first to make sure they fit well. I can play comfortably with the HS80 Max for about 2 hours, so it may be a great way to remind me I’ve been gaming too long :) Another piece of high quality gear from Corsair, recommended!

Very premium headset at a premium price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Corsair HS80 Max Wireless Gaming Headset has some nice features for a premium headset. The feel of the headset feels very solid and cushiony that is very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The headset has a basic set of controls on it. Using the headset for a week straight, it appears to have plenty of battery left. Also, as a couch laptop gamer, I have no problem getting up and walking around the house with the headset still connected to the computer. That was using Bluetooth. Using the USB wireless receiver, I see the same distance walking around the house. Connecting the headset to a Nintendo Switch using the USB wireless receiver, I see the same distance to walk around the house and still connect to the Nintendo Switch. On Windows, using the USB Wireless Receiver unlocks the ability to use Dolby Digital plugin for headsets. Using Bluetooth, however, limits some of the capabilities of the headset. In order to use Corsair’s iCue app, you must connect to the computer using the USB wireless receiver. One feature that appears to be lacking is the ability to enable a mode to be aware of your surroundings. This means that in a certain mode, the headset microphone would allow some of the sound around you to be passed through into the headset such as people around you talking to you. As a married person with kids, it would be nice to be able to hear the high-quality sound on the headset but still hear the people around you. I have used other headsets that have this feature. However, if you are interested in just being focused on the game you are using or listening to music and videos, this headset is great. It does feel like for the price of this headset, it should have every feature possible or at least have more abilities to unlock features using the iCue app.

Comfortable, long battery life, easy setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upon unboxing the Corsair HS80, I immediately noticed the minimal packaging. While this simplistic approach is appreciated in the age of reducing waste, I was surprised by the absence of a manual. However, the intuitive design of the headphones meant this wasn't a significant drawback, although a quick guide to the multi-press functions of the Bluetooth button would have saved a bit of online search time. Comfort is paramount when it comes to gaming headphones, and the HS80 doesn’t disappoint. Prolonged use felt great, and the sound quality truly stands out. There's minimal bleed-through from outside noise, allowing for an immersive gaming experience. The microphone is another highlight – friends consistently reported clear audio during our gaming sessions. I was also able to use them to make phone calls without issue. Additionally, the flip-up to mute feature is a considerate touch, especially during snack breaks. On the technical front, the battery life left a strong impression, outlasting many of my gaming marathons. The Bluetooth range is commendable, and pairing it with new devices was a breeze. A point of contention, though, is the RGB lights on the sides; while some might appreciate the aesthetic, I found them slightly distracting. Turning them off requires downloading Corsair's software – a step I believe could be streamlined for user convenience. The Corsair HS80 has been a delightful addition to my gaming setup. Its performance aligns with my expectations and demands. A few suggestions for Corsair would be the inclusion of a brief instruction card and a more user-friendly method to adjust or disable the RGB lighting. Otherwise, these headphones are a solid choice for any gaming enthusiast.

Equalizer is meh but good for eyeglass wearers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are coming from Roccat Elo Air, you are not going to like this headphone a bit. Even though the connectivity is good and corsair iCue control box is easy to navigate, its equalizer suck. Its nowhere near the Roccat's level. There are no presets for music and gaming presets are probably done by a 4yo. Microphone is not detachable or flexible. All you can do with it is turn it upwards and downward, that's all. In equalizer section, there is an "Unlock Pro" button which probably just syncs your lights with music. Not worth buying imho. If you are willing to look away from these facts, its a great headphone for eyeglass wearers. Its headband is very soft and enough space around glasses so you wont feel any pressure on glasses legs. It is lightweight and mostly you wont even notice that you got something on your head weighing down. Battery life is pretty good, I have charged it only once in previous 14 days (4 hours usage everyday) The only reason I will return these is the equalizer, which just doesnt reflect the price tag it is carrying.

Nice headset, chunky size but lightweight.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TL;DR - The Corsair HS80Max headset is a nice pair of chunky over-ear gamer headphones that you'll want to use for listening to music, too. They're light for their size, they're supremely comfortable, and with the ability to pair to a Bluetooth device, the usage case is flexible. These are packaged very well. The headset itself has a little bit of peel to protect the surface printing on it. The USB adapter and USB-C charging cable both come in a little box with reusable cable wraps on them. The headset itself has a nice adjustable and stretchy headband that is easily adjusted by moving its Velcro-backed tabs. Initial setup requires downloading the Razer Synapse tool, which is a quick download and doesn't use much overhead on even a relatively basic system (these were tested with a Core i7-4770 with 16GB RAM and a Ryzen 5 5625u-based laptop with 16GB RAM). Once installed you can pair the headset with the computer by following the on-screen instructions. While using them, I noticed that the sound-deadening was very strong. These are not active noise cancelling, but I couldn't hear conversation-level talking or music playing externally. The sound these make is incredible for gaming headphones - clear dialog, deep bass, and it is easy to pinpoint where sound is coming from in-game. The Synapse software allows you to customize lighting on the headset - turn off the mute indicator and change lighting colors. It's also how you enable Dolby Atmos functionality and update firmware. These headphones can also be paired to a phone, tablet, or other computer via Bluetooth. It has two modes for this - full Bluetooth functionality, which allows you to listen to music and game audio from your Bluetooth device, and mixed Bluetooth/Wireless mode, which plays music and game audio from your computer while taking calls from your phone. If there was any drawback to these headphones, it would be a lack of Bluetooth multipoint pairing (multiple Bluetooth devices at once). Not a big deal for their intended use, though. All in all, the Corsair HS80Max headset is worth the price.

Sounds Amazing, Uncomfortable for Larger Heads
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far with this headset, I've been impressed by the sound quality and ease of connection. The sound is fantastic and the included Dolby Atmos access is incredible and simulates sound from all around you. I can hear every detail much better than through normal speakers. The ear pieces breath really well and my ears don't get too hot during extended play sessions. I also like the automatic mute feature when you flip up the the microphone. The battery life has been excellent so far as well. I've gone 16 hours without charging and it's still going strong. The reason I cannot give these headphones a higher rating is there is no adjustment options to make them fit larger heads. My head IS larger than normal but it's not that huge and these barely cover my whole ear. If I could slide the ear pieces down half an inch on each side, they would be perfect. Instead, the only size adjustment is to make them fit smaller heads using the elastic padding strap. I have the adjusted strap as loose as possible and they still don't fit me. Another negative is with the strap as loose as it will go, the metal headband digs into the top of my head and is very uncomfortable unless I move the headband on the top of my head every so often. So while the sound is great, I cannot recommend to folks with larger heads like me.

Top 3 Choice for sure.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones are middle of the road not what I was expecting at all from corsair latest headphones so lets get into it. I just don't like the bungie strap adjustment on this unit, it's adjustment movement or Velcro straps just wasn't enough. I like it loose fitting over the ears and I just could not get them comfortable enough. The cups also where a problem for me, my ears started sweating within 30 minutes of play. They have to be some what thick to keep outside noises out, some people like my son who plays games all of his free time he likes them thick so he can hear better. For that reason I kept my review at 4 stars, for the record he did not like the bungie strap either. Sound quality is really good, the treble and mid range was just the right amount with the bass with the help of Dolby Atmos of course. Normally when I play games I turn the volume all the way up to 10 or maxed out. With these babies I only needed 50-75% range because they were so well adjusted right out the box. So my son says he would not recommend for gamers and I thought they should be a top 3 choice because I could live with sweaty ears.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i copy pasted for the hs80 as well Going to post about this model and the hs80 max ones. I have had both of these and spent some time tuning them. Everything about these look and feel identical... So the hs80s were super flat out of the box, Down loaded a 31 point eq to my PC and i was able to make them sound better but no matter what i did they were still kinda flat.. So i tried the hs80 max ones and they sounded the exact same out of the box. Where these 2 differ is from the atmos software that is included with the Maxs.. i ran the same eq settings on both of them and the max out performed the 80 by an land slide.. From bass to highs. I then added the atmos software, which also has a bulit in EQ adjustment and WOW... Its like they made them designed to only use the atmos system. so if you can get the atmos on the hs80s then you will be good, If you like listening to music with highs and good clean low bass, then get the max.. plus with the max you get BT that you can use on you phone and use them to listen to music during your normal day or what not. Comfort is the same, I have an issue with both because i wear glasses and for some reason my right ear is killing me... So thats just something to note..

Bluetooth Good - firmware update Bad
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Corsair HS80 MAX Wireless Gaming Headset With the Corsair HS80 there has been the good and the bad. The Good: A pleasant look and feel, Nice ear cups, good microphone with easy flip up. Sound from the mic was clear on the other end but sounded like I was inside a can. Headset was comfortable but it was dependent on not wearing glasses or what kind I was wearing. Certain ear stems and I had the Pinched head syndrome. Why not put some channels in like some other brands to accommodate all glasses. Build quality was good but not exceptional with mostly plastic being used. The power and volume button are situated around the rear of the left cub and the Bluetooth button on the right with a good textured surface. USB-C port on the left earcup for charging or initial connecting. It come with a 6ft USB-C cable. The headset got warm after a couple of hours use since it wasn’t very breathable. On Bluetooth the sound is acceptable but not awe inspiring. Listing to music gives you a close narrow soundstage. In games sound was average and at times lack luster. Corsair opts for an omni-directional microphone and seems to rely on noise cancellation to filter out background noises. Range and battery life are exceptional. With it only needed to be charged every few days. And now the BAD. Most of the capability and features are available with the Wireless USB dongle and using the iCue software. Now here is where the problem arose. When I loaded the iCue software and plugged in the USB dongle while initially connected by cable the software loaded a firmware update that then bricked the dongle. Though the software said it connected – no dice the headset showed it was still trying to connect and the same thing with the lights on the dongle. So now the dongle is just a nice little blinky light. THE Bluetooth still worked but the advanced capability of controlling the headset didn’t work with it. I have seen issues before with the IQue software causing problems with firmware updates on products but unfortunately there was no way to back load the firmware on the dongle. And as a Bluetooth only headset this is now a no go and has been relegated to the Bluetooth only pile.

Less Than Great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Many gamers underestimate the importance of great audio for gaming performance. I know because I play with guys every day that are oblivious to the audio cues in game that I hear and they don’t. A great pair of headphones is crucial to pick up the slightest sound of an approaching opponent. If you’re playing with speakers you’re missing out. I’ve been using the same headset for years and they’ve treated me well. They are however starting to show signs of wear and tear so I’ve been looking for a replacement. I’ve owned many high quality Corsair gaming accessories over the years so I was happy to try the Corsair HS80 Max Wireless Gaming Headset for PC, PS5, PS4. Unboxing you’ll find the headset, the wireless transmitter, a usb charging cable, and a warranty card. You’ll also find some info on Dolby Atmos prompting you to download a free copy from the Miscrosoft Store since the HS80 supports Atmos. I’m familiar with Atmos for movies and music so the idea of Atmos for gaming was exciting, at least briefly exciting, more on that later. The headphones themselves are nicely designed with a quality feel and weight to them. But not too heavy. Trying them on I found them to be really comfortable with memory foam ear pads. There’s a touch of RGB lighting on the logo on each earpiece. You can change the color within the iCue app. The wireless transmitter looks very much like a usb flash drive so much so that it went missing for a few days when I accidentally took it to work thinking it was my work drive. Once connected there were multiple firmware updates available. One thing missing from the box is any kind of setup manual or direction on where to find it online. So flying blind, I simply used the charging cable to connect to my pc initially and inserted the wireless transmitter into a usb port. I have other Corsair gaming accessories so I had their iCue software installed. Both the HS80 and the transmitter showed up in iCue but I had no sound from the headset. I was able to easily pair via bluetooth. Only after contacting support did I learn that to connect to the wireless transmitter you do a short press on the power button. After finally getting connected, I was excited to try the HS80 in game and particularly excited about the Dolby Atmos support. This excitement didn’t last long. I just didn’t like the sound quality of this headset which sounded oddly muffled and murky as if almost under water. Particularly unpleasant was the execution of the surround sound which instead of being seamless as you move through a games sound field, the sound dropped out as it moved from one ear to the other. I found this incredibly distracting and it definitely negatively impacted my gaming. I tried every setting in iCue and in the Dolby Atmos app without significant improvement. So ultimately the HS80 Max looks great, feels great, but sounds less than great. Disappointing.
