Overall, this headset is great. It feels sleek and high quality in my hands and on my head, it's very customizable, from the RGB to the headband to the sound profile, and the mic is alright. Here's some notes to anyone interested in buying this:
- The battery is very long-lasting; despite my unhealthy use of this 10-12 hours per day at ~30% volume, this headset can go about 3-4 days before needing a recharge, which you can still use while it's plugged in.
- The headset connection is switchable between the 2.4 GHz via the USB dongle or Bluetooth, but you can't use both at the same time.
- The microphone quality is average, doesn't sound great nor horrible. It's one of the only pieces of the headset that feel flimsy, and it's nonremovable for anyone who has concerns with being able to remove your microphone. The light constantly stays on (red when muted/off, and white when active/unmuted) which some people may dislike.
- The sound quality is great and customizable through Corsair's RGB software, allowing you to manually adjust the sound curves or choose from a few different profiles. I recommend looking up a YouTube video on making a Harman curve profile (a sound curve that works and sounds great to most ears). However, I ended up uninstalling Corsair's software, since whether or not you allow it to start up and run in the background on your computer, it'll still run services in the background which caused high CPU usage from Windows' audio device graph isolator process and made my audio come with a lot of static. To get customizable sound curves again without Corsair's software, I installed an app called Equalizer APO and followed a YouTube tutorial to apply the Harman curve to my audio, and there's been no problems.
- You will need Corsair's software to update the firmware on both the headphones and the wireless dongle. I highly recommend doing this first if you plan to uninstall the software since it's likely your headset will arrive with older firmware that has problems with the audio/mic quality and needs to be updated. The RGB should be customizable with an alternative like OpenRGB which works with almost anything from major brands (Corsair included) and is generally a much better option from the software that they provide.
- The headset has a power-saving mode that toggles automatically and can't be manually toggled on/off. If your headset isn't receiving audio loud enough for more than 10 seconds, it'll automatically stop transmitting audio and will only start giving you audio 1-2 seconds after it starts receiving it again; meaning you won't hear those first 1-2 seconds of any audio you're hearing/listening to. There is no way to disable this from what I know.
- The earpads for the headphones are average, but shallow. I've seen many people complaining about them feeling scratchy and rough on the ears, but I didn't feel this at all. I did buy the WC FreeZe Cooling Gel aftermarket earpads since the stock ones from Corsair were too shallow/thin for my liking, and pressed down on them rather than fitting around them like I prefered.
Long story short: if you don't mind the flimsy microphone, ditching Corsair's software for a lightweight, non-problematic alternative, and possibly spending an extra $20-30 on aftermarket earpads, then these headphones might be the choice for you. The battery can last you 3-4 days under constant usage, the headset can be adjusted to fit your head size, and the sound curve/profile can be adjusted with/without Corsair software to fit your liking.

As someone who has a big head, like fitted hats are a large/xl. This headset fits perfectly. I can comfortably wear this headset for hours. The sound quality is equivalent to a bose car stereo system. Battery lasts what seems like forever. Charge it once or maybe twice a week depending on use.

HS80 Max is a "worth it" upgrade from the HS80. Let me tell you why it impresses me:
Battery life:
About 3x as long as the previous headset. To me, having to charge it less often is one of those QOL things. I use my headset pretty much all day and the first thing I noticed was that I didn't notice a notification of low battery as often as the HS80. I go from charging the headset every day to now once every 2-3 days. Huge plus.
Sound quality:
I had my HS80 and Max as close to the same settings as possible in Icue and the Max seems to sound a bit better. The bass thumps a little harder and the "clearness" of chats and individual sounds stand out.
Mic:
The mic on the HS80 Max advertises noise cancelling and while I'm not quite sure about that, people I've chat with say I sound more clear to them. So take that how you will.
Range:
The Max advertises a shorter range than the HS80, however, for me, it maintains a more stable connection farther from my PC. Not sure how that works and I don't know much about the technicalities or the software or whatever but I can go farther on the Max than I can on the HS80 and that's something worthy of a note.
My experiences probably will be a lot different than yours, however, just the better battery alone is worth it for me.

Awesome with one minor gripe

This review was done on a Windows PC.
Out of the box you get the headset and a USB charging cable.
The HS80 Max gets a lot right, and one minor thing wrong.
The build of the headset is pretty nice. The earpads are a nice fabric. This is quite comfortable. The downside is that my ears got pretty warm after about 30 mintues of use. The fabric also attracts a lot of debris. There's a band that helps with the comfort.
The earpads rotate so they can sit flat on your chest when not in use.
You have two options in regards to the functionality. You can use the USB dongle. Your PC will detect it and if it needs any drivers, it'll automatially download it. The other way is to connect it via bluetooth. You simply press the bluetooth pairing button and then pair to your pc and you're done. I use the bluetooth method as it saves a USB slot.
You'll want to donwload the Dolby app. Once you set Dolby Atmos, you'll see a big difference and experience awesome surround sound. I watched a movie and loved the total surround sound that the headset provided. I felt immeresed in the action with the loud explosions and subtle sounds. The gaming experience was just as awesome. When playing a FPS, you can hear ambient noise as well as specific noises from specific directions.
One minor gripe is that the mic doesn't come off. It rests in a vertical position when not in use, but the fact that you can't remove it makes it less incognito when using it out in public.
All in all Corsair has set a high bar with comfort and sound.

The sound quality and long duration wearability are best in class. Gaming for hours use to be painful woth tight clunky headsets but with the CORSAIR HS80 MAX WIRELESS GAMING HEADSET it feels like youre acrualky in the gane with how immersive the Dolby ATMOS high fidelity audio is. The ear cushioning feels like clouds surrounding your ears and the noise cancelling is like no other. Not to mention superior battery life compared to other headsets I have purchased.DO NOT WAIT BUY THIS HEADSET

Great audio, great build quality, and great battery life. The headphones are comfortable even hours of wearing them. If that’s all you care about then this is perfect. However, the mic quality is so bad. I’ve tried to adjust it as much as possible but nothing seems to work. I use the mic a lot and everyone noticed that it’s worse than my previous headphones. I had to return it and it kinda sucked because everything else about it was nice. I’ll give it a 3 star but if I didn’t care about the mic it would be a high 4 star. I heard the older version has better mic quality so I might get that one

Great gaming headset with amazing sound quality and wonderful comfort for long hours of gaming. The battery life says 65 hours and I belive it though I have yet to let it get that low.
Only complaint is that it is a little on the higher price end

These headphones are light and super comfortable. I'd say they are more comfy than the Virtuoso line. Being made of plastic helps with that but I'm not sure about durability. I have a pair of the regular HS80 and the piece of plastic above the ear cuffs indicating which side is left or right broke into pieces. These headphones are identical to the HS80 so the same could happen.
The bungie strap is what makes these comfortable and it's adjustable. The earpads are a soft fabric instead of whatever synthetic leather the Virtuoso are made of that start peeling.
The microphone is a flip up mic to mute, which is great. I don't need to check if it's muted, I just lift it up. The mic is easy to adjust as it's bendable.
Battery life is pretty good. They last a long time and you can turn off the LED for longer life (on PC with iCue).
The Bluetooth is a great addition to the existing HS80 but there's a huge flaw that comes with it: It doesn't work in tandem with the 2.4ghz connection to the receiver. You have to press the power button to switch between both mode. You can still take calls but the Media audio in your phone will not play unless you switch to Bluetooth. This may be good enough for you. The Virtuoso XT allows 3 simultaneous connections: 2.4ghz, Bluetooth and AUX. You do get what you pay for in price difference.
In the end, I ended up returning the headphones as I like the ability to use Bluetooth at the same time for music or playing a random video a friend sent me.

Pros:
Headset is comfortable once adjusted.
Battery life is really good and will last for multiple play sessions or full day of virtual meetings.
Bluetooth connection to phone while also connected to PC so you can quickly answer phone calls without having to change modes.
Volume knob is small enough that it doesn't hit the chair when laying back into seat.
Cons:
The iCue software is very lacking in features and mostly just advertises for Nvidia. Some features just stopped working entirely, such as the voice prompts stopped working even with the setting turned on.
Missing audio due to headset goes into a sleep state after a few seconds of no audio playing. This is not configurable and is separate from the auto-shutoff feature which powers off the headset.
Audio will sometimes be messed up when computer restarts and requires the USB dongle to be unplugged and reinserted to fix.
Headband adjustment is a pain to get right. Having to take the headset off and guess at how far to pull the straps repeatedly until it finally feels good.
Difficult to determine remaining battery life. The iCue software does not use a percentage and only uses things like full and high to describe the battery.
Overall I feel that it is on par with the Logitech Gaming headsets I have used for several years. Comfort is similar. Sound quality seems the same. Both have buggy software. And I have a suspicion that the plastic construction will eventually fail in same spots around the lower headband with the tiny screws just like the Logitech headsets do.

I'm coming from the original release of the Virtuoso headset, the HS80 sounds better and is a lighter headset so you won't have pressure from the top of your head due to the weight like with the Virtuoso. Material used also should last longer since it's not the Faux Leather. So far haven't found anything I can say is a downside to switching.

While the HS80 Max is by no means cheap, I find it a very well-rounded headset for its price point. They're comfortable, have good battery life, and sound great. The only catch is that you are required to download the iCUE software and Dolby Atmos to get the full feature set. Nothing too new for those who have purchased modern headphones today, but it can be annoying to have multiple brands of software on your computer if you don't already have iCUE for some other part of your PC build.

I always buy razer for headsets but this was my first time giving Corsair a try. Overall, it's a good headset - it's lightweight, audio quality is decent.
My razer nari ultimate has significantly better bass, but the battery only lasts a few hours. For this headset, I've had it a couple weeks and haven't charged it at all yet. If you're looking for a headset to last a long time between charges, this is the right headset for you.

Headset is comfortable and sounds pretty good, and the battery life is really good, but the icue software can be frustrating at times. If icue isn't opened then the headset mic stays muted. I have had to reinstall the software since it would crash every time I opened it so I couldn't use my mic for a good 20 minutes after I initially turned on my pc.
