I'd like to start off by saying I have a big head. I was skeptical at first if this was going to be a fit but I put it on and it felt like it was going to fall off. I did the ole' "HEY DINNER'S READY" head-turn and surprisingly, they stayed on. Second, they're extremely comfortable and ergonomic. No you don't have to resize them (you can but I didn't) because they have this neat elastic band that basically forms its head and uses gravity to fit snug but not too snug. Third, the iCUE software is really easy to set up with your existing corsair devices. Luckily I already had this installed since I like to jump back and forth from companies with different peripheral devices. That suit my needs. Last but not least is the sound. The sound is really great and all customizable from the iCUE software. It also lets you change your voice, albeit not for free but this is a third party software company that teamed up with iCUE. Lucky for me I bought a license in 2018 so I'm enjoying talking the smack online on my extremely nice headset and they can absolutely hear me on the other side. Me and 25 of my voice mod faves.

I own and love the wireless version of these gaming cans and wanted to see how the wired version compares on my gaming PC. I'm happy to report that the USB wired version sound just as good with the same tonal qualities of the wireless version. While the wireless connection has never given me any issues, some may prefer the stability of the wired connection and the lower price. One of the things I love about these is the amount of control the iCue app gives you over them. I need sidetone when I use a mic so I can hear myself, and the app allows me to do that and set the level of sidetone. Also included is a 10-band EQ. This is important to me because with just a little tweaking these are equally adept at music as they are for gaming, making them a goo all-around value. The app also allows for control of the RGB (which, sadly, is just the Corsair logo, don't expect anything too flashy) and to switch from stereo to Dolby Surround. The Dolby surround effect is awesome with games and movies! When gaming the environment becomes more immersive and it's easier to pinpoint where hostile fire is coming from. Overall sound leans toward a warmer, bass heavy sound perfect for gaming and movies. As I mentioned earlier, using the EQ to coax out some of the higher end makes music sound very good too. If you switch them into the Dolby surround mode music takes on a subtle feel of being all around you rather than in front of you. Mic quality is excellent. The iCue app allows you to tweak the mic levels. I've used these for work meetings in a pinch when my "business" headset needed to be recharged and there were no complaints about mic quality. Comfort is very good. Clamping force is comfortable and the headsets have a self-adjusting hammock type of headband that allows the earcups to sit in just the right place. The earcups are large and are the around-ear type and made of a velvet-like material. They do get hot after a while. Also, the earcups on my wireless HS80s fell apart after a few months, so I don't know how long these will hold out. Replacing them is very easy, and there are third-party replacements available in other materials. The cable length is good if you sit near your PC. I'm happy it's not long enough to get tangled up in my gaming chair. The cable is not replaceable but seems to be very sturdy and should last in the long-run if not abused. In fact, the whole headset is very sturdy and should travel well with a gaming laptop in a padded bag without breaking. These are highly recommended for PC gaming and all-around media use, especially if you want something portable to pair with a gaming laptop.

The Corsair HS80 Headset has some quality features but it’s companied by a faulty app. The build quality on the headset definitely looks and feels premium. The hinges on the earpieces are made up of metal, so you won’t have to worry about them breaking off. The mic is built into the left earpiece and does not detach. Although, you can move it all the way up, this also auto mutes the mic when in the up position. The mic is a long piece of flexible rubber that’s not very stiff at all, it doesn’t do a good job at holding an exact position. The earcups are made of a sued-like material, that does a good job at both providing comfort and blocking out external noise. There is a manual volume nob on the left ear, as well as a mute mic button…I have no idea why they decided to add a mute mic button, when all you have to do is raise the microphone, which acts as its own mute button… The headset connects to your PC via USB type B cable and the cable is built into the left earpiece, so it can’t be removed. I would have liked for Corsair to have made a detachable cable, this would have been nice in case I run out of USB B ports, and I need to attach it io a USB-C port. Not to mention, many new computers only have USB-C ports, so it makes them have to buy an extra adapter in order to use it. The sound quality on the HS80 is good. There is plenty of bass and there is a good distinguish between highs and lows. The sound is easy to hear and very smooth, not ear piercing like many headphones I’ve tried in the past. The bass in the headphone is incredible, its so effected that it almost tricks your brain into thinking your whole body is rumbling. The headset is Dolby 7.1 surround compatible, but only with the Corsair app installed, otherwise you can use Windows Sonic for headphones. With the Corsair app you can adjust the EQ of the headset, you can choose from an assorted number of presets, or you can create your own custom settings. There is also a toggle that lets you choose between stereo of Dolby Surround. As for the mic in the headset, the people on the other end didn’t seem to have any problems hearing me at all, so from what I can tell it sounds good. The Corsair App could really use an update. This is the app you use need to use if you want to change your lighting, custom controls, volume settings etc. Not just for headsets, but for all types of Corsair devices including mice, keyboards, lighting towers etc. In my experience the app hasn’t worked very well, it would constantly freeze, not apply the correct lighting effects, of just randomly stop working all together. Overall, the HS80 is a solid gaming headset. The level of comfort is great, I was able to use it for long gaming sessions without any pain or irritations. The build quality is top notch, and the sound is good. The downside to the headset is the cable isn’t detachable, so it forces you to use a USB B. Having to use the buggy Corsair app to enable Dolby surround is another downside, it makes me think this is just a software feature and not actually a headphone feature…Otherwise, this is a stellar gaming headset and I would recommend it to gamers.

CORSAIR HS80 RGB USB Headset (WOW!!!!)

Came home from vacation to this Corsair HS80 RGB USB Premium Wired Gaming Headset with 7.1 Surround Sound and have since been putting it through it's paces. Upon opening the package, you'll notice the Corsair HS80 RGB USB Headset with its hard-wired cable. On first glance you make think, man a wired headset but I caution you to not let that wire discourage you. Yes most of us today love wireless everything. At first glance, you may think that this headset is simple, which partially it is. On the left earcuff, you get a mic that when positioned down is unmuted; and when up its on mute. At the back of the left earcuff is just 2 controls (volume scroll wheel, and mute/iCUE button). This headset is RGB and so to use the full functionality of the headset you will need to head over to www.corsair.com and download the iCUE software. Once installed, you will be allowed to tweak the settings of the HS80 to your liking. On a comfortability level, Corsair hit this one out of the ballpark. I can't think of in recent time of any gaming headsets that I've recently tested that were more comfortable than the Corsair HS80. I mean the headband at the top is stretchy and allows for comfortable placement on top of your head and the earcuffs feel like softest pillows on the side of my head. And along with comfortability is the build quality. The R&D team did one heck of a job with this headset. It does not feel cheap or plasticky at all. Strong and sturdy for those long gaming sessions. This headset should last you for quite awhile. Now as far as sound goes, if this isn't the most immersive headset ever, then I don't know what is. It was like you could literally hear everything going on around you in a game. Very loud and crisp and clear. No hissing, which I've experienced with other headsets in the past. If you're looking for a headset with both an amazing comfort level and even more amazing sound quality, then I highly recommend the Corsair HS80. You won't regret it and I feel it's accurately priced for what you're getting.

These head phones provided the best audio I have ever heard on a headset. They do have Dolby 7.1 so that was no doubt part of the great sound quality. Microphone worked great. I liked the option to flip the mic up to mute or you could simply press a mute button on the headset. One feature I don't often see, but was much appreciated is that when muted, a red band appears on the mic boom so you know for sure it is really muted. This headset is wired so there is no delay which I prefer some times with super-fast-paced games. The ear cups were soft enough and do handle a little sweat easily. I did not feel a pinch when wearing my glasses. The floating headband design was comfortable but I did feel some pressure, so I used the feature where you can adjust the headband by giving out more slack on both sides. It is important to note that I almost missed this adjustable option. Since the design is so clean, one may not notice the strap can be adjusted. This ‘flex-band’ design is so much simpler than moving the ear pads via the old sliding systems. Plus you don’t risk breaking a wire that might not slide along – no chance with this nice design – tip of the cap to the engineers at Corsair. If you’d like a real audio treat. Set up your computer with an installation of the iCue software and add these headphones to the dashboard. Play someone like Andrea Bocelli. You can adjust equalization using the iCue software if you want Pure, Movie, Competition, Chat or Bass Boost. Make sure you have surround sound on. Wow, the experience is astounding. Try Piano or Violin or whatever you like, very nice sound reproduction. A tip of the cap to the software developers at Corsair as well. I would highly recommend these headphones for the great sound and superior comfort using the 'flex band' system, and the integration with the iCue software.

The Corsair HS80 RGB Headset is a fantastic value! The comfort level on this headset is insane! I wore this for hours and zero discomfort or head pain like I have experienced with so many other headsets I have tried over the years. The elastic band automatically adjusts to whatever head size, and is very well padded so it feels great. The memory foam ear pads are fantastic as well, very comfortable and breathe quite well. The mic quality is fantastic! In Discord or game chats everyone can hear me very clearly, and there are no volume issues. The flip up mic is convenient and the mute button is very easy to find right above the volume control on the left side. Sound quality is very good also, especially at this price point. Music is very rich, but gaming is where this headset really shined for me. The surround sound allows me to hear footsteps from quite a distance, giving a nice edge in any online gaming sessions! Overall the value on this headset is a home run, and I would not hesitate if you are considering it!

This is the most comfortable headset I’ve used, and the mic is fantastic. The sound quality is just plain terrible. If you play something like Valorant for example, which already doesn’t have the best audio, footsteps are muffled and it’s hard to hear where they are coming from. For music the bass has no boom just super muddy sounding. I really wanted to love this headset because it is so comfortable, but the Cloud II just sounds sooo much better

Very Good Sound But Not the Most Comfortable

The HS80 headset has a lot of positive traits. The sound quality, mic quality, and software tweakability are all quite good. However, I found that over a couple hours of game play, my head was sore. Unfortunately, the design leaves a bit to be desired in the adjustment category. Setup was a breeze. On my gaming PC, which already had iCue installed, the headset was instantly recognized and ready to use. The software gives you a pretty solid amount of options to tweak to your tastes, including surround simulation settings and RGB. This aspect of the headset is exactly what you'd expect from a Corsair product. Unfortunately for me, the headset was let down by a lack of adjustability. It has a tensioned headband, which is ok, but no length adjustment for the ear cups. At first, this seemed ok. The net result of this, however, was a sore head and ears for me. Comfort wise, this is worse in comparison to my Arctis 7 (which is sightly expensive) and downright pails in comparison to my main gaming headset, the Bose Gaming Headset (which is significantly more expensive). It's a shame it's not more comfortable to be, because I enjoyed the sound profile of this headset. Music reproduction is adequate, but it predictably shines in gaming scenarios. The headset is well tuned for gaming, which was especially noticable in Call of Duty. This game has notoriously bad sound; in particular, footsteps noises are very poorly implemented. However, in a surprise, I was seemingly able to better hear them compared to my other headsets, showing just how good these are for gaming. Unfortunately these likely won't be my go to cans for gaming. They've got the software features and sound quality, but the surprising lack of comfortability means I can wear these for extended periods of time.

I have been through the ringer with gaming headsets, tried many over the years. This one still has not replaced my favorite headset, but it was probably the one that came closest to giving it a run for it's money. I have a fair amount of Corsair products in my computer build, so it is nice to have a headset that matches and that you can use the iCue software with. However, the software as many know is buggy at times and sometimes your lighting scenes don't work well. Luckily, the build I am on now, the scenes method works and the RGB syncs with my computer to the headset. As far as audio quality, this is not a bad headset. It does not have as much bass as I would like and I feel like it is just a little too muddy for my likes. The microphone is good though, pretty clear and crisp audio and no complaints from squad mates! Don't really know how to utilize the dolby audio part, EQ is lack luster in iCue. My biggest problem with this headset is that it doesn't have a 3.5mm cable. Like. Come on??? USB only is not good, there should always be a 3.5mm option in case USB goes bad. Also, I like to use sound card features and this can only be done with a 3.5mm cable. If you want 3.5mm don't get this, if you don't care or are on console, go for it.

Overall these are great headphones to use for gaming that connect via USB. *Setup* Just plug them in and use them, worked right out of the box. Didn't need to tweak anything or download software to use. You can download iCue to control the sound/RGB but it isn't necessary which is nice because it makes it easier for me to use as a traveling headphones, since I can just plug it into any PC and go. *Sound* Sounds good with clear sound. I didn't have issues and really enjoy them for playing games. The sound quality seems on point, and responsive. The mic works well, I attached a clip so you can hear. Good enough to do a co-stream with the wife instead of my usual Mic. https://www.twitch.tv/oelshami/clip/BlushingBeautifulSpindleBloodTrail-GN2-O-v-JBQpTMwg The only issue I have is comfort. While the Memory foam is great and helps isolate the sound, but can be a bit tight on us glasses wearing people, so for longer sessions I would recommend taking breaks and taking the headphones off to save yourself some discomfort. Overall they are a nice compact pair of headphones with a good Mic that flips up to mute (has a button too) and sound great.

The HS80 RGB USB Wired Gaming Headset – Carbon is a versatile headset that can be used for many devices and can fulfill all of my headset needs. I can use it to play video games, watch videos/movies or just listen to music. The 7.1 surround sounds produced by the drivers are theater like. I can differentiate amongst all the different sounds clearly. Installing the iCUE software allowed me to fine tune my listening experience to the perfect pitch for the function being used. . I had the ability to choose amongst the five preset sounds: Pure Direct, Movie Theater, FPS Competition, Clear Chat and Base Boost. The mic produces clear audible speech and has a mute button. The HS80 RGB USB Wired Gaming Headset – Carbon is just as good as any headset I’ve had in the past. My ears fit inside the extremely cushiony ear pads with no tightness or discomfort. They can easily be adjusted for head size with the headband adjustment. I can hear all aspects of my gaming experience clearly. I will enjoy using my The HS80 RGB USB Wired Gaming Headset – Carbon.
