The Corsair iCue LT100 lighting towers are really cool, and make a great addition to any setup. The starter kit comes with 2 towers, 2 tower stands, a link cord, a power cord and a headphone stand that sits on top of either tower. The tower stands, or the base - each light up at the bottom making them that much more brighter. The towers themselves are made of metal and have the led strip built into the edge, making it look flush. You can use the towers without a computer, but you won't be able to customize the lights, you will have to cycle through the 11 presets that are installed in the light base. Setting up the towers is pretty easy, they are mostly plug and play. To really enjoy all the features of the lights, you'll need to download the iCue software. From the software, you can fine-tune the exact colors and color patterns of your liking, you can also download countless of custom created lighting effects. My personal favorite lighting effect is the movie effect, which works with everything you do and it basically matches the color of your screen on each side. This is really Cool when gaming and watching movies because it makes your screen appear bigger and gives the illusion of being fully immersed in the content. Overall, I really like the LT100 lighting towers. I think they add a great custom look to your set-up, and they make gaming and watching movies feel more immersive. With the countless customization options through the iCue software, you'll never run out of color patterns and options. I do wish you could set the movie effect as default when not running the software, like you can do with other presets. Other than that, I think they're great and would recommend them to anyone looking for a full package of LED lighting.

The Corsair iCUE LT100 Smart Lighting Towers Starter Kit is the premium RGB lighting kit to spice up your gaming setup. Included in the box are the two light towers, 6ft AC Adapter, 5ft micro-USB to USB-A cable, 5ft RGB cable, and removable headset holder. Setup was simple, just plug and play. Lighting towers can play one of 11 preset effects without the Corsair iCUE software running. Lighting towers are reversable, allowing for direct or indirect lighting. Removable headset holder is a thoughtful and convenient addition. Power button is located on the front of the main base. Bright LEDs are enclosed in a sturdy, light diffusing enclosure which creates an appealing, seamless effect. Expansion kits can also add 2 additional towers. Overall build quality is solid and well designed. To unlock the full potential of the lighting towers, the Corsair iCUE software is needed. Software allows you to check for firmware updates, adjust brightness, and choose between 31 different lighting effects. Corsair iCUE allows for custom lighting effects as well. Personal favorite lighting effect is called “audio lighting.” This turns both lighting towers into a stereo audio visualizer which looks fantastic. Another fun effect is the “fireplace” effect. The “video lighting” effect synchronizes the lighting towers to what is displayed onscreen. However, this effect did not work properly with my personal setup. Overall, the Corsair iCUE LT100 Smart Lighting Towers Starter Kit is the cream of the crop when it comes to RGB lighting.

    Gamer Lamp

iCue's smart lighting towers pretty much exemplify the gamer aesthetic. They are flashy, surprisingly robust, potentially quite cool, and excessive in the most fun way imaginable. I'm not going to try to sell you on the idea that there is some kind of practical application for this thing (though I suppose with enough tinkering one could figure out a few) but rather let you know how these things work as the high-end gamer lamps they are. First up, Corsair's brought their a-game as far as overall asthetics. The towers are mostly machined metal, with the exception of the diffuser and the plastic headset hook. The LED's are bright and provide very vibrant colors, though getting the colors to match what you're getting on the screen may require a little bit of trial and error. the silicone diffusers are just a little sticky, which makes me wonder if they might have issues with dust collection long term, but seem like they should be reasonably easy to wipe down. And the iCue software offers a tremendous amount of control over the effects you can create with the lights, giving you plenty of control over the light show. The one thing that did cause me some grief at first was that before I had them hooked up to my PC, only the master tower (with all the I/O and hookups) lit up. I tried manually detecting the second tower by holding down on the power button as the instructions suggested, but didn't get any response until started setting the device up in iCue. At first I figured I was looking at a wirebreak (more on that later) and I'm very glad I tried with the software before reaching for tech support. Unfortunately there are a few more practical concerns that keep me from giving it full marks, which Corsair can hopefully improve on going forwards. First up is the cable linking the two towers together. The RGB cable it's using is pretty much built like the RGB cables you'd use for your case lighting. While there's something to be said for standard parts, I have some concerns about its durability. The individual wires leading into the plug are unsleeved and lacking any kind of strain relief. In a perfect world you'd have the cable run along the back of a desk with tie downs or a hidden wire channel keeping it safe - but in the real world all too often this long crossover cable is going to be left out in the open on a desk that frequently sees junk being strewn around on its surface or bored cats batting at anything that looks remotely similar to string. It seems worryingly plausible that this thing could be getting regularly shoved around or caught on something, eventually leading to a wire break near the socket. Even though it would add to the cost it seems like it might be worth investing in a slightly more robust option to link the two towers together. The second thing that I think could potentially use some improvement is the power cable. It seems the towers draw down a bit too much current to run from USB alone, so they've got their own power brick with a cord that turned out to be about 8 inches too short to get around to both sides of my 32" monitor when plugged into the UPS under my desk. It's an easy enough fix, but given how slick the towers themselves are and how long the crossover cable is it feels like the kind of thing that shouldn't be necessary. Ultimately though I'd say these are fairly minor issues to have to deal with if you're looking for a literally flashy way to store your headset. And let's face it - you already know if this is something that's worth having for your setup. As extravagant gamer lamps go, this is definitely one of the better ones!

This is a very cool way to add some fairly inexpensive cool lighting to your computer desk. Out of the box they were fairly easy to set up. You just plug the light bar into the base plate. One of them has power cable that you plug in and then there is one single cord that runs from one light to the other that provides the power to the second base. I wish that cord was a wee bit longer, but that's just my personal preference with the setup of my workstation. When you plug them in they are able to work independently of a PC. There is a button on the main base that you hold down for a couple seconds and it will switch between the preset light patterns that are stored on the unit. You can also plug it into your PC with the included USB cable to unlock a ton more features. Once you install the app on your PC you are able to customize the lighting patterns, adjust the brightness, and sync your lights to any other lights you have in the corsair ecosystem. Meaning if you have keyboard and mouse lights and lights in your tower they can all be synced together through the app. I found these tower lights to be nice and bright and go through the different colors very smoothly. If you want a cooler effect you can turn the bar around in the base and it will shine the light on the wall behind your desk for a more muted effect. There was one thing found odd about these lights, and that is that (at this time) there is no app for your phone to be able to customize the lights, they have to be plugged into a PC to get all of the customization options. It would be cool to be able to use these in other areas of the house and not just on a PC, but without that option you are stuck with only using the presets and you cant control the brightness. Not sure if this is something that can be added in the future, but that's the reason for a 4 star instead of a 5 star review.
