A Premium Feel on a Budget: The K70 CORE Delivers

The CORSAIR K70 CORE RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard blew me away right out of the box. The build quality feels really solid, with a sturdy aluminum top and a surprisingly comfortable wrist rest that snaps on magnetically—something I didn’t know I needed until now. The keys themselves are super smooth and satisfying to type on. I love the red linear switches; they're quiet enough for late-night gaming but still give you that nice mechanical bounce. The RGB lighting is next-level—every key lights up with vivid colors, and the effects are really fun to play with using Corsair’s iCUE software. You can customize everything, and it just makes my desk look way cooler. The volume dial and dedicated media keys are simple but super handy when I’m in the middle of a game or watching videos. Honestly, for the price, I wasn’t expecting it to feel this premium. Typing on it is a pleasure, and it handles any game I throw at it with zero issues. Between the sound-dampening, the smooth keys, and the customizable lighting, I really can’t find anything to complain about. Highly recommend if you want a keyboard that feels and looks awesome without breaking the bank.

Arriving in classic Corsair packaging, inside you will find the keyboard, a small pamphlet and......that's it. There's a QR code inside the box and the K70 Core page on Corsair's website with updated iCue software ready to go for download. I'm not sure what I was expecting keyboard wise, but this is a full size keyboard but with minimalist edging so it looks and feels smaller than a traditional keyboard yet it is not. I like that the USB-A cabling is adequately long as I need to run my line a bit to the left to snake around my case. There is no wristguard included so I used the one that came with my EVGA Z20 gaming keyboard which also happens to be one of my favorite wrist guards and current favorite gaming keyboard. Keycaps have a smooth finish and typing is a touch quieter than most other gaming keyboards I've tried thanks to the red switches. For gamers who use the classic 'WASD' config, there is no differentiating textures like some other keyboards. I prefer this approach as I do not use WASD when gaming but a more outlier config. It comes defaulting to the "Rainbow" lighting and you will need to use Corsair's software to control the keyboard lighting. I tested OpenRGB to see if it was compatible and it is not so you will need to accept the Rainbow splash or run iCue. The iCue software also gives you more granular control over polling rates and other things too. I tested the K70 Core with iCue software v5.7.106. iCue will inform you that your K70 Core needs an update. My update actually said it failed but it actually did apply the update. After the update your keyboard will go dark and none of the LEDs will be visible. This is because the iCue software defaults to Brightness set to low/off after the update. Just go to Device settings in the software and turn it back up to your desired level. iCue will also default to starting up with system start up too. You can toggle this off if you so desire as the K70 Core uses programmable memory for its settings in 7 different slots. Kudos to Corsair for not forcing users to perpetually run their software every power on to restore settings. This is a major plus. Everytime power is restored to the keyboard, you will get a quick rainbow pattern and then it will default to your selected, programmed profile. Compared to my previous gaming keyboards from EVGA, Razer, Corsair and more, I will say I definitely prefer the lighting on the Corsair the best. There's something about the keyboard tones itself and the lighting on and below the keys that really compliments the look much more than even my EVGA. Aesthetically and visually pleasing are the two terms that spring to mind. As for gaming, I played Fallout 76 and World of Warcraft running a multiplayer encounter in Fallout 76 (Scorchbeast Queen) and a Raid in WoW as a healer and the keyboard is a solid performer. I like that the keypress force falls right between to light and requiring too much force. I had no problems adapting to it quickly and I can say it is a slight step up over my EVGA keyboard in terms of responsiveness, tactile feedback and feel. Ergonomically, the keyboard is a solid contender. Another plus is due to its fullsize layout yet overall more compact size and thin and light USB-A cable, I'll be able to take this with me and use it with my laptop with ease. As much as I love my EVGA gaming keyboard, it is much bigger and bulkier and the USB-A cabling is monstrously large and overkill. The Corsair is firing on all cylinders in regards to fitting optimum full size functionality in as small a form factor as possible. Overall, I will be using this as my main system driver as I very much like it.

The K70 CORE RGB in steel gray is hands-down the best keyboard I’ve ever owned. The linear switches are buttery smooth and quiet, the RGB is vibrant and fully customizable, and the build quality feels premium despite the affordable price. I love the volume dial and media controls, and the typing experience is top-tier for both gaming and work. For under $100, this keyboard punches way above its weight. Highly recommend!

I have owned a few gaming keyboards over my 20+ years of PC gaming, and the Corsair K70 Core RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is a very nice addition to those starting out or looking for a mid level upgrade. There are some wonderful features with this keyboard, but there are also some pain points to work around. It’s a pretty simple unboxing process. It’s literally just the keyboard in all its glory. After taking it out, I connected it to my gaming rig. I already had iCue installed since I have another Corsair product already, so I was met with a firmware upgrade for the K70 Core. The effort there was painless, but that’s about where it stops with iCue’s configuration and performance. My iCue exposure is for a set of headphones, so there’s not much to do there. The setup, configuration, and reliability of it for the keyboard was definitely a challenge. I could have everything configured and performing, but then I would close the app and see it all revert. It took some trial and error, but I finally got my Rainbow Wave and my hot keys to stick. There was one other thing that I was perplexed by. The volume/brightness/whatever you configure it to do dial says it should light up per iCue. However, I don’t think the K70 Core can do that. I am not 100% on this, but everything I tried resulted in no changes. I think this might be for other K70 models. If that’s the case, it would be nice if iCue recognized that. When getting beyond the iCue “fun”, the keyboard is pretty stunning. I thought the brightness was good and pretty vivid. It certainly met my expectations, and my desk is right next to a window. It was even better at night. It complemented the rest of my RGB very well. The feel of the K70 Core is really nice. I thought it had a decent weight to it while still feeling very light. It was pretty interesting to have a mechanical keyboard that was so quiet. That is thanks to the sound dampening of two layers embedded in the keyboard. As someone that is used to the clicky mechanical environment, this was a unique change. The keystrokes were very responsive and typing was pretty fluid. I will say that the keys are super sensitive too. I found several instances of just slightly touching the top of a key, and I would see it react as if I was holding it down. A tad annoying, but that’s something that can be conditioned for the user to not do. From a gaming standpoint, I didn’t have any issues. I was able to flow through the various games I played with ease. I don’t know if I saw an upgrade using this keyboard versus my previous one, but I certainly didn’t see a downtick in any way. It can hold its own there. I know there are various versions of the K70, but this one didn’t come with a wrist rest. I definitely think not including that is a miss. It definitely made using it a little taxing and my hands, wrists, and forearms felt the difference. Corsair includes that on most, and I know I can get my own, but I feel like any good gaming keyboard will do what it can to make the gamer more comfortable over an extended period of time. When it comes down to it, the Corsair K70 Core RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard would be a great addition to any desk jockeys setup. After you get beyond iCue, it’s hard to complain about the performance of the keyboard. It performed well in all avenues, takes up less space than most, and has a great look to it.

Note: Before reading too far into this review, this is my first mechanical keyboard. Before using this keyboard, I was using a full-sized wireless logitech keyboard with low-profile keys. I know, yikes. As for my experience with this keyboard, I absolutely love it. The sound, the typing feel, and the high-profile of the keys makes the experience excellent. I'm, personally, not a huge enjoyer of super clicky keyboards, and this keyboard is clicky but not to the point of being super loud and annoying... It's quite pleasant to me, surprisingly! The lights are beautiful, and the knob (in the upper right corner) is perfect for volume adjustment while gaming. I have already used this keyboard a few times for gaming sessions (mine typically last 5-6 hours at a time), and my fingers were not fatigued, and my teammates were not bothered by the sound of the keyboard (they couldn't hear it). Overall, as a new user of a Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, this is an excellent choice!

The CORSAIR K70 CORE RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is a fantastic keyboard for both gaming and everyday use. The build feels solid and premium, with responsive mechanical switches that give a satisfying and accurate typing experience. The RGB lighting is bright, customizable, and looks amazing on the desk without being overwhelming. I also like the dedicated media controls, which make it easy to adjust volume or skip tracks while gaming. Setup was plug-and-play, but the iCUE software unlocks tons of customization options for lighting and key remaps. It’s comfortable for long sessions, reliable, and performs exactly as you’d expect from Corsair. If you’re looking for a high-quality mechanical keyboard that balances performance, looks, and comfort, the K70 Core is a great choice.

I intially got a defective product due to buying one of the earliest versions of the keyboard that was having issues with double inputting. After fixing that issue through the wonderful support team, this keyboard is revolutionary and has so many hardware configurations that I can use to make macros on my playstation if I wanted to do. Sleek design and fairly quiet keys.

I’ve been using this K70 Core for a few weeks and it’s been great. The keys feel nice and responsive, the RGB lighting is easy to customize, and it’s comfortable for both gaming and typing. It’s missing a few premium extras you see on higher-end boards, but for the price it’s a solid choice.

I’ve been using this Corsair K70 Core RGB keyboard for a while now and it’s been one of the best upgrades I’ve made to my setup. The typing feel is really smooth and the switches have a satisfying response without being overly loud. I use my PC for both gaming and work, so I needed something comfortable for long typing sessions and responsive for fast gameplay. This keyboard hits both perfectly. The RGB lighting looks clean and not overly flashy. I like being able to change the colors and effects depending on my mood or the game I’m playing. The software makes it easy to customize without feeling complicated. The build quality feels solid as well. The frame doesn’t flex, the keys feel stable, and nothing rattles or feels cheap. One thing I appreciate is how comfortable it is for longer sessions. The spacing of the keys feels natural, and I don’t get hand fatigue the way I did with some other mechanical keyboards. The keycaps have a nice texture too and don’t get slippery. Gaming on it feels great. The response time is fast and consistent, and it handles quick inputs without missing anything. I’ve noticed a difference especially in shooters and rhythm games where timing actually matters. Overall, this keyboard is a solid choice if you want something that looks good, feels premium, and performs well for both gaming and everyday use. It’s definitely worth it if you spend a lot of time at your computer like I do.

What a great keyboard! The build is solid and the key strokes are very accurate. Actually, the response to the stroke is at the very top of the press, so even soft button attack is picked up. The keys are also muted and quite enough not to bother your coworkers in the office, yet haptic enough to feel the physical response one needs for the proper feel of a mechanical keyboard. I don't use this for gaming. Its used in my graphic designing work station. That being said, the area is more compact than expected for a full sized keyboard, so I still retail ample space on my desk for the mouse and notes. The light-up feature is not the most important feature on this product for me, but it is useful for spotting keys and for low-key entertainment. ha! Type fast! Be productive. Make money. Buy this keyboard. Its priced great for the quality and brand.

For a “budget” keyboard it exceeds all expectations. Smooth clicking, good RGB, sleek design. For a keyboard with all keypads it is relatively small. Not bulky whatsoever. Checks all the boxes.

Solid. Feels Mechanical. Light display is cool, adjustable and helpful to have in low light. No key issues. Durable. It feels heavy duty, and that makes me feel like it will Last a while (one year of daily use and zero problems). What I don’t like is that it is heavy…SOLID. I also don’t Like invasive company app dependency for color and theme creations…since, if you read the legal stuff to “AGREE” to…they gather data…and that seems risky to me, so…as a basic gaming keyboard, it’s good but might be overkill if you aren’t into all the bells and whistles that LED light-themes impart. I don’t need that, but I can adjust basic light themes on the board itself. It’s good enough!

Do you want a mechanical keyboard that won’t make your family think they’re living in a 1940s noir detective thriller? Do you long for the ability to write numbers with your right hand? Do you want a good keyboard? I ditched a razer because it kept on waking my daughter up, and then I broke two cheapo keyboards in a year of only gentle use. So I took a chance on this one because it had a bunch of sound damping. It’s perfect! It sounds SO nice. Somehow, my kids were slamming on it and changed all the colors. Cool!

What a great keyboard! After purchasing a PC, we were told by the Best Buy advisor that purchasing this keyboard would be a great addition to the computer. I guess the other keyboard that came with the product wasn’t as nice. We tested both after getting home and this one blew the other keyboard out of the water! The product is built very well, the keys feel nice and it’s super easy to set up and go. Would definitely recommend!
