Coil Whine

When putting it under load the sound goes away. Had same experience on 2 different units. Previous RM750x/RM850x models did not have this issue. Since these are no longer sold new I switched to an EVGA 750 supernova gt for a little more money and have no issues.

But my unit had a terrible high pitched whine right off the bat at low idle power draw. It’s bad enough that I’m returning it. Maybe I got a defective one but unsure whether to risk again.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this was for a backup computer so i didnt work on the build regularly. with that said i wish i had come to the conclusion the PSU was bad much sooner and used BestBuy return. this is the first DOA Corsair product ive ever purchased, and ive purchased lots of different gear from them. im not sure what that means but there it is. Corsair with few questions accepted my RMA but now have to pay $23 to ship it back to them, lucky me

In order to even hear the whine, you had place one's ear near the PSU in the rear. Afterwards the whine got progressively louder at idle which could now be heard over an arm's length away from the case. This was exacerbated by slight load. Now when the PSU fan turns on, it's louder than all my other case and cpu cooler fans. Presently waiting on a support ticket from Corsair at the moment.
