Great sound quality, loving it better than my last set of headphones. Don’t have to turn up the volume more to hear where my shots are coming from the accuracy of the audio direction is great. Not to forget the battery life on this is insane didn’t charge for a good 2 days and even left it on while I went to work still had battery up to today.

They’re a little heavy (i like), super loud when gaming. Noise suppression is on point and voice feed back is great. I recommend.

SOUND 7.5/10: - I did my testing on the flat EQ profile. Stock sound I personally enjoy, but to get the most, you’ll need to EQ. As very receptive towards it. Which only saves on PC (I think). Which is a shame at this price point. Do notice a difference between each preset EQ. No onboard switching of sound profiles. But can put noise cancelling button to have that setting if you want in ICUE. 50 mm graphene drivers are great. - Sounds can be compressed at times. Making them sound different than I’m used to on other headsets. However, I still got full sound from both a bass and treble standpoint most of the time. Sound is very clean and bass is some of the best I’ve heard. - Directional sound for FPS/Competitive was good where I could easily tell where enemies are with good precision. I could hear footsteps most of the time. However, sometimes sounds would be masked from say too much bass or treble. And the treble can be sibilant (harsh over time). Mostly tested on Escape From Tarkov. Also Silent Hill 2, GTA, Halo Infinite. - I enjoyed them for music and media listening as well. Making them a robust enough headset where I can use them for single player immersive, media, music, and competitive gaming. But I would say the Astro A50x and Stealth Pro overall sound better. - Able to hear a bunch of different sounds at once. With the ability to pull them apart. Everything does not just blend together and turn into a garbled mess. Which is the sign of high-quality sound. - Volume is very inconsistent. At times being at 100% and still not being able to hear everything while at others being at 10% and it being deafening. Even without going to sleep or something happening all the sudden the volume would change dramatically. Also, very different depending on source. So say iTunes, Hulu, YouTube, personal recording would all have different sound volumes by a noticeable degree. Very strange and have not seen before. - I had several instances where my sound would just stop working out of the blue. Making me have to unplug and replug the dongle to get working again. Also, times where if my PC was under high load my sound would start to fall apart. But in general very solid connection even when away from system. - Closed back allows for natural noise isolation. Paired with active noise cancelling allows for lower listening volumes (as I can hear a noise floor) and better location of enemies with faint sounds. COMFORT 5/10: - The biggest weakness of this headset. The pads on the earcups look huge. Unfortunately, the majority of that is plastic to attach to the side of the headset. With the actual padding being less than a quarter of an inch. Like a half of a quart of an inch. Very small. - The top of the headband is the same material and about the same thickness. - The material used on the earpads/headband is a bit rough/scratchy. Being more of a mesh material. - Earcups are large enough for my medium sized ears. But I think any bigger and you might be rubbing against the side walls and/or the drivers. - Should be able to fit medium to very large heads. I’d be concerned about very small. - Grip strength is on the lighter end. Where if you lay down the headset will fall off. - For long periods top of head gets sore. Additionally, does not do well with glasses. As padding is too minimal. - I’ve been able to wear for long periods of time. Which has been surprising. But definitely the worst in comfort out of the other flagship headsets I own. BUILD QUALITY 10/10: - This is made almost exclusively from metal which makes it feel and look premium. - Joints are all solid, appear metal, without any noises. - The buttons don’t wobble. Feel great to press. - When adjusting height, dedicated clicks, metal, feel great. - One of the main reasons why I want to use it as my main headset going forward. Along with the controls. RGB 10/10: - You can save lighting profiles directly to the headset without the need for ICUE. - Off by default. Except for when it is just turned on, is connecting, or has lost connection. So, works as a notification. Which is neat. - Lighting looks distinguished but minimal. Very accurate. Bright. No complaints here. CONTROLS 9/10: - Absolutely love the controls on this guy. - Left and right earcup have wheels that encompass the entire earcup. Left for PC/Xbox volume. Right for Bluetooth volume. Rough edges for grip, moderate pressure to move. Love it. - Left earcup is a slide to power on, slide more forward for Bluetooth on, hold forward to go into Bluetooth pairing. Then you have the detachable microphone. Which also has a button where pressing mutes/unmutes. Holding that turns on/off sidetone. - Right earcup has a dedicated button for noise cancelling on/off. Then you have another slide toggle. Where if you press it plays/pauses, press forward to go forward, and backward to go backwards. I love this as well. When on PC it will play/pause PC instead of Bluetooth even if you’re connected. If you are not playing anything on PC then it will play Bluetooth audio. - No game/chat mix except for on Xbox with Xbox Mode. MICROPHONE 7/10: - Good tonality (can hear the different timbres in my voice). - Easily hear the compression. Which can manifest in me sounding nasally, inconsistent, and less clear at times. - Nvidia Broadcast enabled. Which does amazing at cutting down background noise. Assuming your GPU supports it. - Announces when you mute/unmute. Along with turning capsule red. I like that a lot. - Beats most other headset microphones. Double points for being wireless. I recorded a YouTube video with it. I won’t do that again. As the quality is not consistent enough. - Microphone is detachable. Also, very flexible to get into ideal spot. - Side tone is terrible. Need to be at 80% or higher. Likely 100% to hear yourself. At which point you sound very compressed, it is slightly delayed, and you get a constant humming destroying the otherwise silent noise floor. - Volume is very loud. Default at 50% has me nearly peaking while speaking quietly. This to me is a pro. Means you have a lot of room for adjustability depending on if you are soft spoken or very loud. - Do hear a click when you mute the microphone. NOISE CANCELLING 6/10: - Apple AirPods Max and Sony XM4’s are better. - Similar to the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pros - Better than Turtle Beach Stealth Pro. - It does a good job at eliminating mild fan noise, noise floor from a room, and reduces voices/music a mild/moderate. But doesn’t silence everything like some of the flagship noise cancelling earphones do. - Turns on/off by holding button on right earcup. - I didn’t notice a difference in sound with it on/off. - The transparency mode works well. Not quite Apple like. But still quite good. Where I can hear everything around me with pretty good accuracy. But does sound a bit compressed. OTHER: - Comes with an awesome pleather case. Which is very protective and form fitting to the headset. Which holds the long USB braided charging cord that is semi stiff and USB-A to USB-C. Along with the detachable microphone. - Can use Bluetooth and 2.4 Wireless at the same time. - 2 Year warranty is good. - Charging, red for low, orange for medium, green for high all pulsing. Then fully charged will be solid green. When first turning on it will also show you one of those to alert you of battery level. Love it. CONS: - Headset padding is almost non-existent, which is a shame. - No game/chat mix on PC/PlayStation but does work on Xbox (Need to go into Xbox Mode by double pressing custom button (noise cancelling button) where the right volume control is now chat control over controlling Bluetooth volume. Which would then be controlled on your Bluetooth device instead of headset). - Noise cancelling is adequate. Would like it to be better. - Sidetone is horrendous. - Comfort could be a lot better. - Not good for glasses. - No 3.5 mm aux to be used on everything. Either 2.4 GHz wireless or Bluetooth. USB is just used to charge. Can still play while charging but connected to wireless dongle. - Had some issues where if I was just using bluetooth the headset would timeout and turn itself off despite playing audio. - Cannot save custom EQ’s to headset. Meaning limited functionality on consoles. - Random inconsistent sound volume is irritating. - Had some issues with dropouts. Which wouldn’t return unless replugged dongle. - Click when you mute microphone. - iCUE Software is disappointing. - Plugging it in to charge only charges. Does not power device. Still need to connect to wireless dongle.

A solid PC headset that works on Xbox

The first thing I will say about the Corsair Virtuoso Max headset is that it is clearly a PC headset that happens to be compatible with Xbox. I guess that is not too surprising given Corsair is primarily a PC component and accessory maker, but with the Xbox branding all over the box you would be forgiven for thinking that was the primary focus with them. They present themselves well, with a very solid build quality and high-end materials and include a nice hard-shell carrying case which can fit the headset as well as the small transmitter dongle and even the USB-C charging cable. The reason I say it is more of a PC headset is that out of the box it defaults to the PC mode, and since there are no printed instructions included you may struggle to find out how to get them to work on your Xbox as I did. Turns out you must press the circular “Custom” button underneath the right ear cup twice in quick succession to change modes from PC to Xbox, and this is not indicated anywhere on the packaging or protective film that it came in. You also should hook it up to a PC and download the iCue app to be able to change certain settings and update firmware before use to take full advantage of the feature set. For example, A.N.C. was not available until I connected to the iCue software even though no firmware update was done. Once I got all of that dealt with, and had it charged, I was finally able to get to the business of gaming on my Xbox Series X with this headset. Sound quality is excellent, particularly with Dolby Atmos for Headphones enabled. You can hear things from every direction and with every small detail clear as day. Conversations with companions and NPCs in RPGs like Starfield are easy to discern over background noise, and the bass is strong but not overwhelming. They are comfortable for a time, but their metal construction makes them pretty heavy which causes me some aching on the top of my head after a couple hours. I can shift them back and forth to avoid that from happening as much but its an issue. Controls are easy to reach and feel solid, each ear cup has a dial on the surrounding edge that controls volume and mix levels depending on the mode you are in. They have a power switch on the left that toggles between Bluetooth and 2.4Ghz wireless, an action switch on the right that can play/pause and change music tracks from your phone on Bluetooth, the aforementioned mode change “Custom” button on that lower right that also activates transparency mode or A.N.C. as well as turning both modes off entirely. Lastly, the boom mic is removable and has its own built in mute button, but the headset has another built in mic that can be used independently of the boom mic if that is not installed. Charging is done via the USB-C port under the right ear cup. Battery life is excellent, I have put in 6 hours since my last charge with A.N.C. on the entire time and it still has over 80% remaining. This is a really good headset and looks and feels very premium and has excellent sound and mic quality. ANC is a wonderful feature to have on a gaming headset, it really allows you to be fully immersed in your experience even if your surroundings are noisy. But it is too heavy for long gaming sessions, which is unfortunate because it has great battery life so it can go a super long time with out needing to recharge. Then, there is just too much required to get them operating properly at the beginning for anyone looking for the typical plug and play console experience. To have to connect to a PC to unlock certain features, and after that have to still figure out what button combination to press to get it to work on your Xbox when it is branded as an Xbox headset first and foremost are things that bring it down for me. I’d still recommend it but would be sure to bring up the small nuances it has.

Excellent for Gaming, Great Dolby Atmos Headset

I’ve been using the Virtuoso Max gaming headset for several days now and I’ve been impressed with its performance so far. The headset has great specs: 50mm graphene drivers, Dolby Atmos supported and both 2.4 Ghz wireless radio and Bluetooth connectivity. The microphone is detachable, and the headset comes with a good quality case. Inside the case there’s the wireless dongle that uses USB-A port and a charging cable. There’s no USB-C adapter because after all XBOX uses USB-A port. Design and Comfort Overall built quality is very good. The headset looks and feels premium, as well as sturdy. There’s no mistaking that this is a gaming headset because there’s a LED ring light on both sides of the headset. However, the placement of the LED and Corsair logo are subtle enough, and with the microphone being detached, the headset actually really looks like a normal premium headphone. Comfort is okay and it feels normal. The ear cups fit well and the headset doesn’t feel heavy. Of course, when it comes to comfort it is very subjective. I’ve been using the headset to play several games, and I did not have comfort issues. The detachable microphone is easy to move it away or closer to the mouth. There’s a LED light on the tip of the microphone so you will always know if your mic is turn on or off. Activating the microphone is easy enough as there’s a button at the base of the detachable mic. Again, a very thoughtful design. Adjusting the volume of the headset is amazingly easy. There is a rotating ring with coarse texture on each side of the headphone. Connectivity This is where you’ll be getting the best bang for the buck. Although it’s meant for XBOX gaming, the dongle works with PC and PS 5. And of course you can always connect the headset to any Bluetooth audio source. The coolest thing is that you can use both Bluetooth and the dongle for simultaneous wireless audio connection from two different sources. Choosing between dongle connectivity and Bluetooth is easy as you can do so by using the button on the headset. Performance I’ve been playing RDR 2 and RDR online on XBOX as well as Helldivers 2 and Avatar on PC and I’ve been impressed with the performance. Sound reproduction for gaming is excellent and gaming feels immersive. The headset successfully brought the environment in Avatar alive. Dolby Atmos truly shines with the headset. And I’ve been using the headset to listen to music with my phone and I like it as the 50mm graphene drivers certainly don’t fail. Having said that, this is a gaming headset first, which means audio characteristics are not primarily geared towards pure music enjoyment. Listening to music is still a pleasant experience with the headset and I can see that it will appeal to become the one headset that you all use for both gaming and music. However, while sound and instrument separation are good, performance in the low frequencies for music can be a bit more improved especially for the EDM genre. Also, while the soundstage for playing games is excellent, it is not my favorite when it comes to music enjoyment. ANC works okay and even without the ANC being turn on, sound isolation when gaming indoor is great thanks to the design of the ear cups. The headset can get really loud, so much that it can bother the person next to you if you play music at max level indoor. Conclusion This is a great headset for gaming. Period. Likes: Design and comfort Long battery life Sound performance for gaming Detachable mic Excellent connectivity options Dolby Atmos Don’t Like: There’s none really. Well, maybe sound performance for music can be better. But that’s just me being a bit more demanding as an audio enthusiast.

I want to start this review by addressing what was my biggest question while waiting for this new Corsair Virtuoso Max Headset for Xbox. That question was, 'does it only work on xbox or can it be used on other devices?' It almost seemed like a silly question to me at first, but when Corsair makes 2 versions where one specifically says for Xbox, and the other for basically everything else (PC, Mac, PS5, and Mobile), it makes it a valid question. While I do have both an older Xbox One X and the newer Xbox Series X, I do also have a PC, a MacBook, and mobile devices. So if I'm getting a high quality headset that isn't exactly cheap, I want it to work on everything. I'll just cut to the chase here and say that Yes, even though this headset is made specifically for the Xbox, it does work with all the other devices as well. I guess when you see the start guide that does seem like a silly question, since before even trying it with my xbox, I needed to set it up with the Corsair iCue software on my PC to make sure the firmware was updated. That said, in some cases at least, it's not just plug and play. I first used it with my PC laptop where I went through the initial setup as mentioned. I also use a MacBook regularly and after plugging the receiver into there, it wasn't working. I had to install the iCue software on my mac as well to get it to work. It was however a simple plug and play into my Xbox Series X. You just have to double press the 'Custom' button on the headset to put it into 'Xbox mode'. It was a bit finicky when moving back and forth though. When I'd go back to using it on my MacBook, I'd have trouble getting it to connect and would have to power off the headset, and/or re-plug in the receiver multiple times, and that was after double pressing the custom button to take it out of xbox mode as per the instructions. Which leads me to another minor issue I have in regards to the controls, and that is that they could use better feedback to let you know what you're doing. The only indication for when you put the headset into xbox or pc mode is the led color on the ring, but in my experience, each time I switched, it would flash both white and green so I couldn't quite figure out which setting it was actually in. It wasn't until it's fully connected that it'll stay the proper color. Plus you have to remove the headset to even be able to see the led. There needs to be some kind of audio prompt or better yet, a simple voice verification. Which by the way, there are voice prompts that you can enable or disable, so the capability is apparently there, but unfortunately the only thing the voice ever tells me is when the mic is turned on or off. It's supposed to also tell you when the battery is low but I haven't gotten the batteries discharged enough to hear it. Same goes for the other buttons, like switching between the noise cancelling modes. As for the Active Noise Cancelling feature, it's just ok. It works, but when I first started testing it out, I had problems even knowing when it was on, again, this would have been a great time to have some kind of voice prompt verification. I kept switching between modes and even tried listening to some test audio tracks to figure it out. While it doesn't seem as strong as other ANC headphones I have, I think part of the reason I had trouble determining when it was on is actually a good thing. That's because these headphones block out a lot of external noise just naturally by its design, so even with ANC off, it's actually probably the quietest headset I've had, which means there's not as big of an audible difference as you get with other headsets. Now the third mode, which Corsair calls 'transparency', is actually one of the best I've experienced. External sounds come through clear and without a lot of the static you get with other headsets. In fact, audio coming from other devices was picked up so clear, that for a moment I thought it was connected via bluetooth. That's because this Virtuoso Max headset does also have bluetooth, and using it that way works flawlessly. I was able to connect to my iPhone via bluetooth instantly. Unlike when using the wireless receiver, there was no software needed, no re-connecting things, it just worked. But that's not all, the bluetooth can work AT THE SAME TIME as the wireless! This is easily my favorite thing about the Virtuoso Max, and is almost a technological game changer. I really can't tell you how awesome this is. I can play Forza on my Xbox late at night listening to the game audio while listening to my own music from my phone instead of the same old game music in the Forza radio. Or I can watch videos on my laptop and keep my phone connected so that any texts or notification sounds plays through for me to hear. And there are no better volume controls out there. With the outer ring on the left side controlling the wireless volume and the outer ring on the right side controlling the bluetooth volume, it couldn't be any easier. As great as that is, none of it matters if the audio quality isn't there. I can assure you that the quality is there. Audio is super crisp and clear, even with the highest highs and the lowest lows. Although the bass isn't the hardest hitting I've experienced with headphones, it's perfectly balanced with the rest of the audio and at no time have I experienced any raspiness or crackling. The surround is nice too. I first tested it with some audio surround test tracks and I could easily distinguish where sounds were coming from. I then fired up some Mass Effect on my Xbox and I could hear exactly where the enemies were shooting from for an amazing gaming experience. Finally, I need to talk about comfort. As gamers, we can be playing for hours straight, so you don't want to sacrifice comfort for convenience. Truth be told, this isn't the most comfortable headset I own. The earpads fit nicely around my ears, but the pads themselves are pretty firm whereas I prefer a cushier pad. It's not so firm though that I can't wear these for hours. The headband part though, while its about the same firmness as the earpads, with the weight pulling down on it, you do start to feel it pressing down on the top of your head after a while. I find myself having to move it slightly every now and then. But also because of the weight of these, they don't stay still as well when you get up and move around. Overall, it's not horrible, but it's not the greatest either. To wrap-up this review, the functionality and features of the Virtuoso Max are great and really make this headset a great choice, there's just some minor issues and nit-picks that keep it from being a must-have. It's the versatility though that puts it on my recommended list. Even though the product title ends with '...for Xbox', it's capable of so much more, and because I actually do use it for so much more, it means I don't have to have as many devices. I didn't even mention the detachable mic, which lets me take phone calls or join work meetings, and then simply detach it if I don't need it.

Great Sounding, Hampered By Dolby ATMOS On Xbox

TLDR: If you are looking for a pair of outstanding sounding (to both you and others on the other side of your microphone), majestically built, and solid gaming headphones, you can not go wrong with the Corsair Virtuoso Max. The only hang ups I had with these is the lack of even a simple connection guide in the box, and the inability to switch up profiles on the fly while playing on my Xbox. I have owned A LOT of different gaming headphones over my many, many, many years of gaming, and I believe that I can say quite confidently, that these are the nicest pair I've ever owned (short of using my super high-end audiophile headphones back in the day). When you pull these out of their case, you KNOW you have a solid set of 'cans' here. I'm going to run through a quick list of some highs and just a couple lows, for the Virtuoso Max headphones that I have experienced over the last week of using them. Highs: 1. Build Quality: Spectacular. You pull these out of their nicely appointed case and they feel solid, the buttons and dials all activate smoothly, and the padding/stitching really takes the style up a notch. 2. Sound: This is arguably the most important thing next to comfort in a pair of headphones, and the Virtuoso Max has a phenomenal range and an impressive amount of power. If your game doesn't sound good when wearing these, it's the audio engineer's fault, NOT these headphones. That is actually a bit of a problem, especially if you play some older or non-AAA games. My games from Bethesda and Microsoft sound beautiful and the spacial cues are all correct. Some of my older games and some smaller studio games weren't able to put the love into the audio of their games that the bigger studio/budget games were. These games can come off 'boomy' and shrill at times. Also, these are nicely tuned for voice reproduction as well, and I've been able to understand the dialogue in a few games better than I ever have before. Music streamed from my phone also sounded spectacular and while they will not replace my main music headphones, it was nice that when I was playing some boring and repetitive sections of the game, I could put on some music, and grind away at the game and then dial back in the audio when I needed the game cues. Voice Clarity: When playing with a team online or using these to take a phone call through the dual USB/Bluetooth connection, the other side will be able to hear you loud and clear. You can also dial in the sound from the game/phone with just a twist of, well, the dial on the ear cup. Ease of Connectivity: Once I figured everything out, it was super easy to set up the connection through both the wireless transmitter plugged into my Xbox Series X as well as my iPhone 15. Once that was set up I could use the Dolby app on my Xbox to change settings and equalizers. Battery Life: I charged these things fully immediately upon taking them out of the box and have used them every day for up to 4 hours at a stretch most of the days of the last week and I still haven't had to charge them up again. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find an indicator that would tell me the battery level (other than a generic low/medium/high). Perhaps that is only in the actual Corsair iCUE app for computers. Mids: 1. Comfort: While the materials used by Corsair are top-notch, I can still only wear these for a few hours before needing a break. That happens all the time with even the softest headphones for the bridge of my head, but the Corsairs also had a pretty strong clamping feel on my head. While great for stability, I did have to give my ears and sides of my head a break independent of the top of my head. Lows: 1. Software: The Dolby app that you use on the Xbox is fine, but if you need to switch up profiles and settings for your headphones while playing, you are going to have to exit the game completely (not just hit the dashboard button), make your changes, and restart your game. This made it really hard for me to A-B between profiles to see which one was best for each game, since I have not found a single equalizer setting that sounds best for all of my games. Perhaps if Corsair puts out an iCUE app on the Xbox, we might get some more control. 2. Documentation: C'mon Corsair, you put in actual paper guides for the warranty and safety details, but couldn't put in even a single sheet 'Quick Start' guide? I shouldn't have to scan a QR code to get the manual for a headset, especially when said QR code does not go to an active page yet. 3. ANC: To tell the truth, I was unable to tell when the ANC was on or off when using these. I didn't get any of the 'ear pressure' you get with a lot of ANC headphones, but they did keep out quite a bit of outside noise passively. It would be nice if there was a definitive tone or announcement of which mode you were in. Or perhaps if the medial control toggle was changed to an on/off button since you need to use your phone to control a lot of settings during calls/music anyway (though it was nice to have the start/stop and forward/back settings close at hand). Conclusion: I would like to point out that I only used these on my Xbox Series X, and so if you are using these on a PC, a lot of the 'lows' may not even apply to you since you have the iCUE app to use. If you really dig Corsair's other gaming gear (as you rightly should), and want their latest and greatest headset that now supports the Xbox, head on out to Best Buy and pick these up, you will enjoy them.

The Corsair Virtuoso Max is a premium headset designed with Xbox in mind. I have tried other headsets but always went back to my old faithful when it comes to Xbox gaming, but that has changed now. Once you open the box you're greeted by the carrying case, inside the Headset, Detachable Microphone, Charging Cable and USB receiver are all packaged away. There is a QR code in the box to take you to the Corsair site for any manuals you may need to get setup. It took some playing around to figure out how to get it working with my Xbox, by default I could tell it was connecting but would not play any audio, double tapping the round button on R side got it working. The Virtuoso Max is well built, everything is at a premium with the aluminum build and memory foam cushions. You got RGB on the side of L+R, just outside this is a large dial; L can be used to adjust volume, and R can be used to adjust the level of chat/game mix. On L you also have the Microphone port, which uses USB-C and the power with can be moved slightly down for the wireless receiver and all the way down for Bluetooth. R has the charging port, action button and custom button, I don't touch much on this side now other than adjusting chat/game volumes. I love that I can use the headset for both my Xbox and PC. I move the USB receiver between my Xbox and PC to game, I use the Mic on Xbox and detach this to use my dedicated mic on PC, but still take advantage for the Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio. Downloading the iCUE app allows you to manage/update the headset and receiver. The headset has a long lasting battery, I am able to game for multiple sessions without worrying about it running out of battery, Corsair gives these a 60 hour battery life. I enjoy headsets that can connect to both your console/PC plus your phone via bluetooth. I game a bit at night and it's nice to have the audio from my phone come through the headset if I am scrolling through videos while waiting for the next activity. Plus it allows me to listen and control music using my phone when grinding out seasonal content or leveling. The headset also has Active Noise Cancellation which is great! The one thing to note is they do have some heft, luckily they don't bother me as I am able to run long gaming sessions without feeling the pressure of the headset. Audio is really great out of the box, I may go in and tweak the EQ a little but they are solid enough that I have gone through a few long sessions without anything really bothering me. At the moment I am mostly playing Destiny 2 and DIablo IV, but I am really looking forward to trying these out when Black Ops 6 comes out, I will mostly be on Zombies but hearing the undead around me will be great! Gaming, chatting and listening to music has all come across the drivers great, I don't have anything I can complain about with them! I'm really enjoying this headset and glad it works across multiple devices as I can use this for pretty much everything now. It lives in the house, at the moment, but I am curious to take these out to take these when I want to focus in a noisy space and test out the ANC. In the house it works great, but since I game late, there isn't a lot of noise I am truly cutting out. Great headset, tons of features!

Unboxing was easy and straightforward. It included the headphones in a nice hard zipper case, USB a to USBC cable, Mic and Xbox usb adapter. I charged it but the usb ports in my outlets was not enough so I used a usb power brick and that worked. I also downloaded the corsair Icue software only for Windows/MAC not mobile app here. Setup was pretty straight forward. I connected the headset into my Xbox and pushed the power button and per the instructions had to double press the custom button on the headset. Now I was connected. I like to spin the dial on the right ear to control the volume. It feels more satisfying to increase/decrease the volume. After several days of gameplay, the sound was incredible. I found the volume at about 50% to be loud enough and you could hear an amazing amount of detail in FPS. Also, when in matches everyone heard me crystal clear. When my family was nearby, and the dogs barked, the team on the other side could not hear anything. I slid the power button over on the left ear and put it in Bluetooth and paired to my phone and was able to hear very clear audio, movie/tv shows and played some mobile games. The quality was just as good. I did place a few video calls, and they were crystal clear both sides both audio and video. I even went to the loudest part of the house where the kids were playing, and I did not hear anything as far as outside noise. Also, the person I was talking to could not hear anything but me. As far as the ANC. I like the active as it blocks all sound outside of the game/movie, etc. that I am listening to. Transparent ANC is awesome so I could hear my surroundings while playing a match in Fortnite and not feel like I am closed off to the world. Same goes for listening to a show when I do not want to watch what my family is watching. The benefit is I can still hear them when they talk to me. Sound profiles: I liked the pure direct for mostly everything except for when playing FPS games. I found that sound profile just a little bit more sensitive to the high’s so I could hear my enemies easier. You can program the custom button so that I can switch between them but unfortunately, I need to rotate all the sound profiles so in the end I was not always sure I was on the correct profile. I do like also that you can adjust the RGB lighting colors and brightness along with how fast the headset goes to sleep. I did have some trouble getting the headset to show up in Icue which was frustrating but eventually got it to show. Also, when turning it on and connecting to Bluetooth you need to slide the power switch over which is not that user friendly. The Xbox connection is seamless, so it is best to get this headset for that primary use. Pros: Build quality Sound profile Volume control is really quality in the headset Sound quality very detailed Cons: Not that comfortable Icue finicky Switching sound profiles does not show which profile you’re on Bluetooth switching from Xbox mode is not super easy Overall, this is the best Xbox Gaming headset I have used to date.

Setup: First, before using the Corsair Virtuoso Max Wireless Gaming Xbox Headset, be sure to download and install the latest iCUE software to your PC. iCUE will automatically prompt you to install any available updates for either the Corsair Virtuoso Max Wireless headset or the included USB transmitter. The headset and USB transmitter are compatible with both Xbox and PC. For my Xbox One X, physical connectivity was straight forward. Plug in USB stick into a free USB port. Telling the Xbox to use the headset, which I don’t normally do, required me to follow the instructions provided by Corsair. Microsoft’s audio menu makes it harder than it should be. I was able to set the Xbox to use the Virtuoso Max as well as set the sound mode to Dolby Atmos. I then launched the Dolby Atmos Xbox application and ran 7.1.4 test tones that is included with the app. The Corsair Virtuoso Max played every test tone’s special position accurately and clearly. I was convinced that tones were coming from all seven base layer speaker positions as well as the four height positions. Unfortunately, the bass, which is omnipresent regardless of sound system or listening device, simply did not sound bassy enough. More on that soon. Each ear cup has a rotation dial that controls volume. Each dial runs the outside edge of each ear cup. Each ring has a diamond pattern etched into the surface for grip and easy identification during headphone use. The left dial is master volume. It works with Xbox and PC. The right dial controls the volume balance between team chat and game volume. It took me about five minutes to find the correct balance between team and game volume during my first Xbox game. For some reason, the right volume control defaulted to 100% team chat which meant I got no game effects or music. I was happy once I got this figured out. The lesson here is that I should have paid more attention when I read the instructions. It would have saved me a bunch of time. Gaming Audio: Gaming audio is really good. The Corsair Virtuoso Max is crystal clear at all volumes. However, I would not recommend playing these at full volume for very long. These get plenty loud, with enough detail, to guarantee a satisfying gaming experience at safe hearing volumes. I could not detect any audio breakup at max volume. I started out with Diablo 4. This game has a constant ambiance soundtrack and special effects going off every second of the game. Positional audio was a bit difficult to pick out since there is always so much going on everywhere. Demon sounds were loud and clear. Weapon attacks, spells, splat, wack, and squishes were also crystal clear and full of detail. Voice dialog was also clear and front and center. My only complaint here is that the bass is a bit thin. For example, the destructive blast wave that accompanies a character advancing to a new level is normally accompanied by a bassy thump. Corsair Virtuoso Max was more of a wimpy flap than a bassy thump. Next up, I tried out the new Mechwarrior 5: Clans. I’m a Battletech fanboy and this game proved timely. Again, cutscene dialogue, which there is a lot of, was fantastic. Better yet, the Corsair Virtuoso Max kept up beautifully with the cacophony of lasers, machine guns, missile fire, explosions, jump jet rocket sounds, mech footfalls, and everything else that tends to saturate a sound stage which is video games. Again, here, I was disappointed with the bass reproduction. Everything else sounds fantastic. My experience with PC games was about the same. iCUE does allow for different EQ settings through iCUE on the PC. However, you need to turn off Dolby Atmos if you want to take advantage of the EQ. Music: This will not be an audiophile type review. Just a few notes. I listened to a large array of music with the Corsair Virtuoso Max. I did this with Apple Music on my PC using Corsairs USB transmitter. The music was just as crystal clear as my games were on Xbox. However, I found myself chasing the bass. So, I load up a song that I know has a solid, strong bass beat. Masha Ray’s “Levan Polka (Dancing Donkey Mix)”. Here, I got some good bass. I turned off Dolby Atmos and Windows Spatial Audio in Windows settings and then set iCUE EQ to Pure Direct. Yes! Bass! And really good bass. I move onto a Sturgill Simpson’s, “Sing Along” which is a wall of screaming guitars, heavy bass, distortion, vocals, and just a complete saturation of the sound scape. Again, bass was clear and tight. My overall impression of using the Corsair Virtuoso Max for music is really a solid pass or me. They are really good for gaming on my Xbox but not my cup of tea for critical listening sessions. Comfort: The Corsair Virtuoso Max are very well built. The cans are all metal. Corsair did not cheap out on cans, the hinges, or the flexible headband. Even the buttons and switches are metal. The headset has a solid industrial feel to them that just screams quality. The other night, I wanted to rage quit a game and throw my headset at the TV. Except, I knew the Corsair Virtuoso Max would shatter my TV or, if I missed, leave a hole in my wall. Funny how rage quitting loses that romantic expulsion of emotions when you know that acting out that romanticism can do real harm. Unfortunately, the padding of the Corsair Virtuoso Max follows that same hard and industrial feeling. The padding on the headband is made of soft foam but not enough of it. On my head, the foam is just shy of the top of head leaving the clamping force and my ears to keep the ear cups in place. The padding on the ear cups are even thinner. There is so little padding that the headset sits hard against my head. My ears and jaw feel fatigued after about two hours of wear. The paddings fabric also has the office chair kind of industrial feel. I would have preferred the plush, soft, and fuzzy ear pads of previous Corsair headsets. The headband does extend to fit larger heads. Corsair built in stops along the extender arm in the headband that will ensure the custom adjustments will not move when putting on or taking off the headset. The band is also flexible enough to expand to fit even the largest of human melons. Microphone: I really like the microphone. The Microphone connects to the left ear cup via USB C connector that has a special shape ensuring that the Left ear cup is the only ear cup the microphone will connect to. The boom arm is a fabric covered flexible arm. The microphone itself sits at the end of the arm. There is a mute button built into the base of the mic just below the USB C connector. The other end of the microphone arm has an LED light that will illuminate red when Mute is active. The headset will state, “Mute on”, or “Mute off” when ever the status of mute changes. Voices are crystal clear. I spent the night playing Mechwarrior Online with my clan the other night. We use Discord to communicate. They reported that I sounded absolutely clear and was very easy to hear. iCUE offers additional options to optimize recording, including volume boost, if I ran into any issue. Nvidia also offers an optional AI voice optimization, through iCUE, for those who live in noisy environments and need some kind of voice optimization or noise cancelation. Noise cancellation modes: Noise cancellation is good. I generally play my Xbox in a quiet room. However, I do have an air purifier, a heater with a fan, and my furnace to deal with in the same space. I also have overhead LED lights that hum that a very high, audible frequency. I normally keep these lights off. During testing, I turned my air purifier to 100%, Jet engine, cleaning. My heater was also turned on which made quite a racket. I turned on the Corsair Virtuoso Max’s noise canceling. The fan noises were reduced to a whisper. I didn’t even hear my furnace turn on in the other room. And I could not hear the LED lights hum. All the background sounds simply vanished once I started gaming. Passthrough also worked very well. Outside sounds sounded very natural. This includes talking, keyboard typing sounds, and I can even hear the TV in the next room. Off, or no noise cancellation or passthrough, did an ok job of isolating sound. Noise cancellation works better. Changing between modes has an audible queue. Which makes it difficult to tell what mode you are in. I would like Corsair to change this to vocal cues like Mute. Please, leave no doubt in my mind which mode I am using. Final thoughts: There is more to like here than not. I would be the first in line if Corsair offered a set of comfort or plushy padding for the Corsair Virtuoso Max. As is, I can game for about two hours before needing a break. That may be a good thing, but I want the choice to be mine. The construction and material are fantastic. Audio is not audiophile great but is excellent for gaming. I just wish bass was easier to adjust for on the Xbox. Connectivity options are fantastic. Dolby Atmos works very well. The mic is loud and clear. And the overall function of the Corsair Virtuoso Max is excellent.

What qualities make up the perfect gaming headphones? When I think of all of the wireless gaming headphones I have purchased in the past the most important qualities were sound quality, comfort, battery life, sound volume, and mic quality. I believe Corsair Virtuoso is the first headset to offer all of these. This is the most complete set of gaming headphones made for Xbox, but this gear can also be used for PC gaming. I’m going to step through each of these important categories and tell you why I recommend them. *Sound Quality The sound quality is absolutely top tier. Powered by 50mm Graphene Drivers you pick up every small detail while gaming. This can be the edge needed in an FPS game, or it might alert you to something right around the corner. I was blown away by the location and detail of the sounds coming through these headphones. Dolby Atmos is available on PC. You can also download the Dolby Access App to use it on Xbox. Whether I was gaming, streaming music or movies, the sound was amazing. It’s rich, detailed, and it feels like you’re in a movie theater. *Comfort This is the first set of headphones that actually nailed the comfort with its design. I feel like all of the headphone manufacturers attempt to provide hours of comfort on your ears while keeping the ears cool, but Corsair delivered. There’s a good seal which also supports the Active Noise Cancelling. Memory phone sits both at the top of your head and ear cushions. There isn’t any more than usual, but it just works so well. Typically, wireless headphones have felt heavy on my head, but not this time. These Virtuoso Max Wireless don’t feel like they weigh a ton and they don’t feel tight on the ears and head or at the top band. The headband also adjusts more than I typically experience so those with that extra large head shouldn’t have any problems. There’s no excessive heat or slow build of heat over the course of a game. These headphones manage to stay cool on your head. Bravo Corsair! *Battery Life The battery life is amazing coming in at 60 hours. If your headphones die and you need a quick charge, a 15 minute charge will net you about 6 hours, Impressive. *Sound volume What’s the point of great sound if you can’t get the volume loud enough? These headphones reached the volume levels I needed and I actually had to turn them down in a few games and movies. With ANC it really helps to block out the outside noise. *Mic Quality The mic is high quality. All of my friends let me know that my voice was clear and easy to understand. Corsair is known to have great mics on their headphones and they proved it once again. The mic is omni-directional so it is good at capturing my voice and blocking out the background noise. Those are the most important features in gaming headphones to me, and Corsair surprisingly delivers in every category. Now on to a couple of other features: *Build Quality This is a premium build. Corsair ditches the plastic for aluminum. There’s quality memory foam for the ears and head band. There’s also a leather accent at the top of the headband. The Corsair Virtuoso Max headphones feel durable, and well made. There’s a dial on the side that you can use for volume control. Nothing feels flimsy. The buttons feel fairly typical for headphones. *Software Corsair ICUE software lets you set RGB lighting, and the dial can also be custom programmed from this software. You can also setup your audio profiles. *ANC There’s active noise cancellation which helps block out the extra noise in the background so you can focus on the sound. You can also set transparency mode if you need to hear what’s going on around you. The Corsair Virtuoso Max are premium headphones that really deliver a great sound experience in gaming, music, and movies. By offering Bluetooth and Wireless at the same time, it allows you to connect to the phone or listen to music while playing a game if or anything else you can imagine. If you’re looking for great sound, comfort, and exceptional battery life with a quality build, this is it. Personally, the Corsair checks all the boxes, and I highly recommend them.

These are one of the most expensive pair of gaming headphones i own today. So lets talk about the way they feel they are very well built a solid set of headphones. They are heavy so you know it's not all plastic holding them together. The ear cups are solid in the there is not a lot of soft cushion kinda hard. But i guess that is to help with the noise canceling and the big sound you get. I have to say i have really enjoyed the sound that comes out of these. The only thing i have heard about the way they sound is from the boom mic that i don't come in very loud like all my other pair i own. The mic does come off it wraps around to the front of your face i tried moving it back and forth to see it it makes it better and all heard was not much better. I will have to mak some kind of adjustment to them. I like that each side has a volume wheel on the earcup it the size of the earcup not a little wheel like a lot of others. The connection was to easy to get ready to play. Each side of the headphones lights up red white. These are built for some serious gaming in mind to the active noise canceling Dolby Atmos, and being able to set it up the way you want to hear the game. This is a pro set for sure i'm not sure if i will get another pair to try out might just have to stick with this pair for a while. The price is high but for what you get in a set of headphones i don't think you can complain to much. so these are very well built a little heavy the sound is awesome the buttons are easy to use connection was fast and easy. BAD you come in to soft on the mic the earcups are a little to hard. But overall a great pair to have to game with

The Corsair Virtuoso Max Wireless Gaming Headset for Xbox offers a premium experience in terms of build quality, which is exactly what one would expect for the price. The weight and overall feel are excellent, giving it a solid, durable impression. However, the ear pieces feature cloth material, which feels slightly out of place given the headset's high-end positioning. For the cost, I would have expected something a bit more premium in that area. In terms of sound, it's good but not groundbreaking. The drivers are decent, though I suspect they might benefit from a longer break-in period to reach their full potential. While it handles most soundscapes well, it's not the audiophile experience some might expect at this price point. The controls on the headset, including the buttons and volume knobs, are well-designed and easy to use. That said, the action button controlling the active noise canceling (ANC) function is a bit too sensitive in its out-of-the-box configuration. I’ve accidentally cycled through EQ settings multiple times, which can be frustrating mid-game. Speaking of ANC, while it works well, it does seem to function better in specific environments. I also ran into occasional issues with microphone volume and sidetone settings, and I suspect there may be some interference. These issues were especially noticeable in iCue software, which has been a consistent source of frustration for me. Settings in iCue didn’t always apply as expected, and this lack of functionality was disappointing. Overall, this headset is a solid product but feels slightly rushed. I hope a future firmware update will improve audio quality, and I really hope Corsair addresses the persistent iCue issues. As someone who uses several Corsair products, I like their hardware, but the software experience continues to be a point of concern.

The Virtuoso Max Headset is yet another fantastic consumer electronics device developed by the great team at Corsair. I have used Corsair products for years, including custom towers, keyboards, mice, and various computer parts, but this is actually my first set of headphones from this great company. To summarize up front, the Virtuoso Max offers exceptional comfort, crystal-clear sound, and superior build quality. The immersive experience it provides is truly remarkable. I use these headphones exclusively for my Xbox as that is what they were designed for. Here are some features that I appreciate. COMFORT AND BUILD QUALITY It is easy to get lost for hours playing my Xbox Series X with these headphones on. The memory foam earpads are some of the best I have ever tried. They are not too soft, or hard, they just feel right to me. It’s hard to describe comfort in words, so if you get the chance to visit your local Best Buy and these are on display, try them on and you’ll see what I mean. The earpads, crown, and inner earpad (driver cover) are made of a durable woven material, instead of faux leather like most brands. I have had to replace the faux leather earpads on several other sets of headphones in the past, which is a tedious job. The Corsair woven material simply feels more durable, comfortable, and premium, which leads me to believe it will last much longer. The entire package, from the included custom cutout clamshell case, to the quality of the braided USB-C charging cable, to the headphones themselves, feels premium. All of the switches respond well and the unique custom large dials on each side have just the right amount of friction to control your volume and/or Bluetooth volume which can be customized to either side with the iCUE desktop app. iCUE DESKTOP APP One thing to note with the iCUE desktop app, is that you need to have the included USB dongle plugged into your computer to access the settings and customize the headphones. I have found that you cannot adjust settings over a Bluetooth connection alone. When connected properly and updating settings inside the iCUE app, you can customize and save one lighting preset to your headphones. All of the standard RGB presets are available here, from various pulses, to waterfalls, to static colors, and even a rain setting. Upon initially setting up the headphones for use, you have the option to update the firmware inside of the iCUE software. This process was easy and relatively quick. I did notice that after initially updating the firmware to the current version, then clicking on the “check for updates” button, the software displays an “Update Failed” message in red below the current firmware version. Then when hovering my mouse pointer over the small white info icon a popup says “Firmware update is unavailable.” This seems like a glitch that should be addressed by another firmware update. Instead of displaying “Update Failed” in red text, I believe it should say “Latest Version” like it does under Software Settings > Software Updates. This could be a bit confusing for some people and my guess is that they will fix this soon. See my review photos for screenshots of this issue. SOUND QUALITY Incredible to say the least, and quite simply the star of the show. These headphones utilize 50mm drivers (speakers) that are made of a substance called Graphine. I wasn’t sure what that was exactly, so I had to visit the Corsair website to find out. As a musician and audiophile, I was intrigued and ultimately liked what I read. According to Corsair, Graphene is a super lightweight, yet extremely durable substance that is made from carbon atoms. I will be learning more about this soon, but with my initial testing, I do believe that this is a step in the right direction for speaker material. The sound and immersion factor these provide when gaming and even listening to music, or watching movies is simply a fantastic experience. I have been stuck on Diablo IV for quite some time. The music and sound effects of this game are incredibly full and detailed and the Virtuoso Max headphones bring out all of the intricacies perfectly. Sound plays a HUGE part in video gaming, and these headphones deliver. The included detachable microphone is extremely flexible and easy to position in just the right spot which ensures your voice is heard loud and clear while gaming, or making phone calls. Lastly, the ANC works perfectly, and is a great feature to have on a gaming headset. Active Noise Canceling takes the immersion factor to a whole new level, separating you from the outside world so you can truly enjoy your gaming experience to its fullest, most focused potential. While the integration of Dolby Atmos is a noteworthy feature that may have the potential to enhance gaming experiences over time, it's important to note that not all games currently support it. Among the games I've played that are compatible with Dolby Atmos, the impact has been subtle at best. Ultimately, you have one speaker on each ear, so the sound stage is stereo. When enabling Dolby Atmos in your Xbox device settings, these headphones do have the ability to slightly trick you into thinking the sounds are coming from different directions, but nowhere near the separation that a true multi-speaker setup has. IN CONCLUSION The tools we have available these days take gaming to the next level. We have the displays. We have the gaming systems. We have audiophile level headphones like the Corsair Virtuoso Max Headset. This headset is extremely comfortable for long play sessions. The sound is among the best I’ve heard for any gaming headset. The build quality is fantastic and feels premium. Having the added bonus of a custom travel case included makes this package a real winner and one that is worthy for your consideration. :: PROS :: Rich detailed sound from the new Graphine drivers Excellent build quality Extremely long battery life Flexible clear detachable microphone Active noise canceling Included custom fit travel case :: CONS :: Post firmware update glitch in iCUE software, but should be an easy fix for the developers

I am always looking for the ultimate gaming experience. From having the best picture quality, the most responsive controllers or the most detailed audio available. It all matters in the life of a gamer. Your tools for escapism are very important. I’ve been aware of the Corsair brand headsets, but I have never used them until now. I never expected an elite experience from a headset. Package and Setup: The Virtuoso for Xbox comes with the headset, charging cable (headset uses a USB-C to charge), microphone and a hard shell carrying case. Minimal packaging for a big experience. Before you start setting up your Xbox Virtuoso headset, I recommend that you utilize the charging cord. Out of the box, my headset was low on battery. Take the time to read the instructions for your headset that are accessed via the QR code on the inside of the box. You will need to download the iCue PC application in order to update both the dongle and the headset itself. Also, you can customize the type of listening experience that you may want for your Virtuoso headset including the RGB light pattern display around the ear cups. There isn’t a mobile app for this headset. Once the updates are applied, you are ready to plug the dongle into your Xbox and utilize the headset. But How Does It Sound? This Xbox headset is truly one of the best sounding headsets that I have ever used in all my years of playing on any of the Xbox consoles! The Virtuoso embraces the Dolby Atmos sound technology and puts it to work for the gamer. I’ve been playing Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition on my Xbox Series X and compared to my more recent headset, headset; I could detect a noticeable difference when it came to sharpness and special effects. Another game that I fired up on my Xbox was Cyberpunk 2077 which also uses the Dolby Atmos sound, it was another incredible moment as I walked the streets of Night City and simply appreciated the sounds of traffic, random NPC chatter amongst other things. I should mention that you do not need to pay for the Dolby Atmos service through the Xbox. The Dolby app detects your Virtuoso, allowing your free access to the technology. Even if you are playing games that don’t use the Dolby Atmos sound such as Red Dead Redemption 2. You Do you know what game that I am really looking forward to playing with this headset? Black Ops 6. I can only imagine the impactful sounds that will be poured into my ears then! Easy Access and Comfort: Another great feature for this headset is that the volume control is located around the left ear cup. I don’t have to memorize small wheels or mistake tiny buttons in order to change the volume. And if I want to change the balance between the game and my chat? Then I can do that on the dial around my right ear cup. When it comes to comfort, the Virtuoso didn’t let me down. I’ve worn this headset for several hours playing Vampire Survivors (game is addicting) and I never felt that tired ‘pinch’ around the ears that you might get from other headsets. And if you wear glasses then you’ll find that the ear cushions accommodate nicely. I have to mention the cool feature where if the headset doesn’t detect any movement for more than five minutes, it will shut down in order to conserve battery life. I found that really cool since there have been times where I have taken off my headset and forgot to turn it off only to later discover that there was no more charge left in it. Voice: The Virtuoso has your voice covered when it comes to game chat or if you are a streamer/content creator. The audio quality is top notch leaving no hollow backdrop sound when recording your voice. My friends that I chatted with didn’t have any issues hearing me clearly either. Again, the microphone is fantastic if you are streaming or making content. Closing: There is going to be the inevitable, “Can you use this headset on PS5?”. To which I will say, not really. I plugged it into my PS5 and sure, sound came out, but it sounded weird and not any kind of quality that you’d want your gaming experience to be. It feels like Corsair dedicated this version of the Virtuoso to the Xbox console.

Straight out of the box you know you're getting special as the protective case for the Virtuoso Max has a very nice soft faux leather finish to it. There isn't a rough, abrasive textured finish to anything, just nice feeling materials all the way around. Inside the case are your headphones, the mic attachment, dongle, and the charging cable. There are no manuals or paperwork included, everything is digital and found within the app. I have no problem with this but could see where others might want to have some sort of physical literature included with the device. The design is sleek and elegant, nothing is loud or shouts "GAMER" in any way shape or form. The headband has a nice stitched foam underside while the outer edge is the same material as the protective case. The can housings/volume controls are metal and the various buttons are a mix of metal and plastic. Everything has an extremely nice feel to it, if something is meant to be pushed it has a solid action. If something it meant to be turned there is a nice bit of resistance to it, it doesn't just spin wildly. Those aforementioned volume controls are probably my favorite feature. Your left side outer ring controls one set of audio while the right side controls another. In the app you can customize which one does what, so if you prefer to have your game audio on the opposite side and your system (music, mic, etc) on the other you aren't stuck with it having to be where Corsair assigned it out of the box. There is an equalizer within the app with a button on the right side of the headphones to toggle between the various pre-installed EQs. You can also make custom ones, remove the pre-installed, so on and so forth in order to only have your exact wants/needs there to cycle through. Along with that there is a light ring integrated into each can, this too is very understated and not loud/shouty. Again, I love this direction for the Virtuoso Max as it is nice to see a more mature design aesthetic in the gaming realm for a chance. Sound quality is great, Dolby Atmos being compatible is awesome and sounds lovely. The mic is perfectly fine and being able to remove it when not needed is a plus. Just wish there was a place to store it on the headset, but not a deal breaker by any means. Recommended for anyone wanting a top-spec headset for gaming, listening to music, and/or home theater use (Dolby Atmos!!!).

    LUXURY HEADPHONES- GREAT COMFORT

The headphones have a an amazing luxurious feel to them, even the way they are packaged. It's an amazing presentation down to the box, the carrying pouch and the quality feel of the material used to make the headphones. PRESENTATION-QUALITY As soon as you open the box, you are presented with a quality molded carrying case which is semi-rigid which provides protection when stored. The headphones have an amazing feel to them, no loose flimsy parts, the speaker cups adjust for a perfect fit with solid clicks to keep it from sliding whenever you take them off. The buttons have a nice silver accent to them and when pressing or toggling, they have a nice solid response and fluid springy response to the toggle switch. The earcups themselves seem like they would be too firm but I have had them on for hours, about 3hrs, and I didn't experience ear fatigue, pain or uncomfortable warmth. SOUND The sound is good, robust and rich. When you combine it with the noise cancelling, it provides a very immersive feel when gaming. The rotary dials encircling the speaker cup to control volume and chat are waaaay easier to use as opposed to searching for a volume button. The DOLBY sound was a nice touch but i wasn't able to really tell the difference too much when playing games that had the feature. MISC/APP The corsair app lets you customize the LED lights and the shortcut buttons but I really don't see myself using that too often after i set it once but it is a a nice bonus feature. The included MIC, toggle and charging cable are well made and seem very durable. The pairing process was easy, the bluetooth option was easy. The RF/Toggle option was also easy to pair and allows you to use the headphones on the PC, PS5 and XBOX. It's all in the instruction manual, not sure why it's labeled an XBOX controller. OVERALL- VERY LUXURIOUS FEEL, GREAT SOUND AND VERY WELL THOUGHT OUT VOLUME CONTROLS AND PLACEMENT.

Corsair Virtuoso Max: Epic Sound, Ultimate Comfort

I love this headset! When I first unboxed the Corsair Virtuoso Max, the size caught me off guard—these things are humongous! But once I settled into a gaming session, I realized they are incredibly comfortable, even for those long hours. Initially, I was concerned about the minimal cushion on the ear cups and headband since they looked and felt a little stiff, but those doubts disappeared as soon as I put them on. The headset has a snug fit that gently conforms to your head, sealing in the sound perfectly without feeling too tight or uncomfortable. Design & Comfort The ear cups and headband may seem hard at first glance, but they sit comfortably, making it easy to wear them for extended periods. I also love how well-built they feel; the weight gives them a premium heft without being too heavy for prolonged use. The layout of the buttons is super convenient, with everything in easy-to-reach places. One standout feature is the large dials on both sides of the headset—one for volume control and the other for adjusting the game/chat audio mix. This has been a game-changer for me during multiplayer matches with the boys, especially since you can tweak the settings with just a flick of the dial mid-game. iCUE Software Customization I highly recommend downloading the iCUE application on PC before you dive in. Not only does it ensure your firmware is up to date, but it also gives you full control over the headset’s settings. The first thing I adjusted was the mic monitoring and volume, as I found I couldn’t hear myself well at the start and ended up yelling. Boosting those levels through the app made a huge difference. The RGB lighting customization is another awesome feature. You can really fine-tune the lighting to fit your setup—mine is set to a gradient shift between pink and blue over 4 seconds, matching my PC and Nano Leaf wall lights perfectly. Corsair did not cut corners here; the lighting options feel polished and detailed with seemingly infinite options. Sound Quality & Performance This is where the headset shines! The sound quality is incredible, and Dolby Atmos made FPS games like Call of Duty and Insurgency: Sandstorm feel immersive in a way I’ve never experienced before. I could hear footsteps and distant gunfire clearly, and the directional audio is incredible and gave me a real edge in gameplay. Even the music in Rocket League and Fortnite sounded better than ever, adding an extra layer of fun, I was absolutely blasting the music, pushing the headset to the max and I was not disappointed. What I also love about the Virtuoso Max is its multi-platform compatibility—it works across PC, Xbox, PlayStation, mobile, and even Nintendo Switch. This versatility makes it my new go-to headset, whether I’m gaming, listening to music while working, or watching movies. Noise Cancellation & Modes The noise cancellation and transparency modes are top-notch, effectively blocking out or inviting background noise when needed. However, one small gripe is that activating these modes disables sidetone (mic feedback), so I can’t hear myself when talking. It’s not a big deal when watching movies, but it can be annoying during gaming sessions, especially when I need to communicate quietly—my kids are usually sleeping when I get my game time in! So, I tend to use “normal” mode with sidetone on. Pro-Tip: you can toggle sidetone on or off by holding the mute button for 3 seconds and a pleasant voice confirms your setting, which I found to be a thoughtful touch. Build Quality & Extras The build quality is solid—this headset feels like it can withstand serious use. Premium materials, real metal, smooth hinges, quality bolts, soft fabrics, and leather. The included travel case is an awesome bonus, made with a leather-like material and a soft mold inside to keep the headset secure. The case even has a smooth zipper that doesn’t snag, which I appreciate for peace of mind. I’m a big zipper guy, they have to work well, and this one does! In the box, you’ll find: - The headset - Carrying case - A 6ft USB-A to USB-C cable - USB dongle - Detachable boom mic - Standard paperwork Final Thoughts Overall, I’m thoroughly enjoying my experience with the Corsair Virtuoso Max. The combination of premium design, incredible sound, and easy customization makes this headset a must-have for serious gamers, music lovers, and movie watchers. Corsair really knocked it out of the park with this one—it not only looks stunning but performs just as well. If you want a headset that offers both style and functionality, the Virtuoso Max is worth every penny!
