Customers enjoy the superb sound quality and comfortable fit of the VOID RGB ELITE Wireless headset. Many appreciate the long battery life and wireless convenience, along with the customizable RGB lighting. However, some users find the headset to be a bit large and heavy, and the volume control could be improved. A few also noted that the bass response and software could be enhanced.

A solid headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Corsair® Void RGB Elite wireless stereo gaming headset— what a long name it has. It feels like a tank and I have to caution you that it weighs like one, too. (It tops the scale at 13 1/2 ounces.) If you are looking for a lightweight headset for voice dictation (for example), I have to tell you that this headset is not really marketed for such use although works extremely well for voice dictation (which is something I use daily basis) – it has I believe a noise canceling microphone and it even comes with the sponge (microphone guard) that minimizes the wind noise. Setting up is very easy. It is really not fully charged, and you need to plug it in using the supplied USB cable for at least an hour, or two. Most of the controls are actually on the headset but I prefer to only use the volume control which is cleverly done. You push it backwards, and the volume goes up, and you push it forward, and the volume goes down. The top of the headset will expand to accommodate someone with a large head – like myself. The headset comes with a little USB transmitter which supposedly work up to 40 feet away (unobstructed). Pairing is already done but a little button on it can be pressed if you need to do that. It is best to download the program and I don't want to give you a website address because a newer version will have a different address. Go here instead http://www.corsair.com/support/downloads and choose iCUE software (which controls all the hardwares made by this company.) You will be able to turn on easily the surroundsound feature and you can turn on the little LCD light on the sides (or turn it basically off altogether.) According to the manual, the USB port has to be a high-power, so needless to say, it is best probably not too connected to a hub. The little dial that controls the volume can be pressed inward and it will toggle the surroundsound to off, and on. But if you press quickly it toggles the EQ setting. You really need to use the iCUE software to understand many of the settings—without it, some features don’t work. This is the type of headset that completely covers your ears. I still can hear the ambience noise and I don't think I actually wants a pair of headset that blocks all the sound probably due to safety. But with the volume set too high, you may be unable to hear the ambience noise. I played on old game—System Shock II—re-released for Windows 10. It works well with the headset, but I cannot really tell much difference between stereo versus surroundsound. I tried a newer game – BioShock II, and it became clear that when the surroundsound was on, I could distinguish the differences. This is a good (and will probably last long time) gaming headset. It works well enough for voice dictation as I am using the program right now to "write" this review. However, it is not a very light headset weighting almost a pound and you have to get use if you have a big head the initial feelings of having a vice grip on your head. The band can be adjusted to accommodate the size of your head. Eventually I think the user will get used to it but best if you tried on at the store. Gamers do expect sturdy pair of headset and not the wimpy (and fragile) ones for the others—just remember that before you buy it.

An improvement over the Corsair Void Pro
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.UNBOXING, AND INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: Once again, typical environmentally-friendly packaging from Corsair. While some companies are getting better at this, and others are still trying to figure out how to do it, Corsair has, essentially, “mastered” it. As for the headset, itself, it appears quite sturdy, and, visually, an improvement over the previous Void Pro. COMFORT & EASE OF OPERATION: I bought the Void Pro…and, less than a week later, I returned it. Simply-put, it was uncomfortable…EXTREMELY uncomfortable. If you want your head to feel like a squeezed turnip, then buy the (outgoing) Void Pro. On the other hand, if you want a really good-sounding headset, withy RGB lighting, is wireless…and is comfortable (at least more-comfortable than the Void Pro was)…then the new Void Elite Wireless will fit (pun intended) you…as long as you don’t have a big head (literally, not figuratively). SOUND QUALITY: For those not aware, when it comes to computer headsets, 7.1 audio is NOT truly 7.1 audio…it is stereo audio, with lots of processing, to simulate (or attempt top simulate) “surround sound). Some software does a decent job at this, while some create a more realistic effect, and then there are those that do an outstanding job. Well, the Void Elite Wireless doesn’t fall into that last category…but, it does, at least, fall into the middle one, albeit at the lower-end of the middle catagory. Starting with the frequency response, the Void Elite has definitely improved the sound quality over the previous Void Pro. For the price, this could be the best wireless (simulated) 7.1 gaming headset on the market. Notice I said, “for the price”…that is because there are better-sounding headsets, and there are headsets that create a more-realistic surround-sound effect, but, they also cost more…considerably more, in certain cases. Just briefly touching on the mic, the mic included with the Void Elite is probably the best built-in mic I’ve come across. THE GOOD: • Fairly comfortable (better than the Void Pro, which these will replace) • Extremely-good stereo sound quality • Great battery life (16hrs)…when the LEDs are off • Price THE BAD: • A bit on the heavy side (those with “weak” necks should probably avoid wireless headsets) • Surround-sound isn’t all that good…but, better than some others • While the fit is outstanding for those with smaller heads, and very good for those with “average” heads, those with larger heads might fit it becoming uncomfortable during extended gaming sessions (but, still an improvement over the Void Pro) THE UGLY: • Nothing I can think of FINAL VERDICT: Overall stereo sound is very good…better than others in the same price range, and better than the original Void Pro. Unfortunately, the surround-sound isn’t as good. While the headband design is improved, it could still be a problem for some. For the price, it is one of the best wireless gaming headsets, and I can recommend it. Disclaimer: This product was provided free, or at reduced cost, for the purpose of reviewing the product. Nevertheless, the above review, be it positive, negative, or anywhere in-between, is a 100% honest review, and the price paid played absolutely no part in my review.

Many Features, Great Stereo Sound, Need Improving
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless headset is almost self explanatory. It's wireless, supporting a simulated 7.1 channel surround sound (I say simulated because there's only two speakers) with RGB LED features to match your gaming keyboard. I'm not sure what the Elite conveys - perhaps the jam packed features of the headset. I'll start as usual with looks. The headset looks good and is on the large side. With my head and ears, this fit pretty well though I can see it being a bit of a problem for smaller people. Unfortunately, this is not a case where there's a disconnect between size and weight. This does feel weighty and while ok for wearing for a couple hours, I could feel that over a longer session, it will get uncomfortable. Which is a bit of a catch-22 because the headset is rated for up to 16 hours of battery life. So, you won't wear it continuously for that long, but it's nice that you could use it several days in a row without having to plug in to charge. The boom mic doesn't intrude in one's face and is onmidirectional. I'm not quite sure why, given that one's mouth is always in the same place relative to the mic. Listening to the mic, it does a good job recording though it seems like there was a lot more bass than what was in reality. Trying out the headset, one figures out a couple of the "elite" features. One is flipping the boom up - that auto mutes the microphone. The other is by pressing and hold on the mic button, you can actually pipe what the mic is recording to the headset. So you can use it in monitor mode and hear what it's picking up. The wireless feature isn't bluetooth or wifi. It's a 2.4Ghz connection that requires the included USB dongle. After plugging that in and installing Corsair's iCUE software, you can further customize the behavior of the heatset. You can switch on surround sound, mess around with equalizer settings, and configure the lighting effects. Note, running the RGB lights will cut into your battery runtime. Connected over wireless, I got about 35-45 feet of range line of sight between me and the laptop. When I moved things to my more cluttered basement, range dropped to almost half depending on the walls, columns, and chairs between me and the laptop. That said, you're usually using this pretty close to your gaming rig, so the wireless range is only a concern for quick rest stops where you still want to keep an ear on action. Given the weight, I was not tempted to use this for general media listening. The sound from this headset is great. I was blown away by the stereo sound and the detail that I could hear in games. Music and Hulu were also a pleasure to listen to with this headset. I started to reconsider whether I'd be willing to use this for some general media when I want to watch a show without waking the rest of the house. Firing up one of my favorite shows that really exercises surrounds sound (The Expanse), I switched the headset to surround mode. . .and well, this is mixed. On the one hand, the virtual surround actually worked. But, the sound quality felt worse than on stereo. It was like when I had to hunt around the various mode on my audio receiver to find the one that decoded best - it just felt really dim or muted with some channels and didn't really combine very well. Unlike my audio receiver, there's only one multi-channel mode here so not real option to explore different decoding mechanisms. Full disclosure, I receive this for free to do my review. It had enough features that I liked but I was leaning towards a 3 star rating due to the relative quality of the recorded mic, surround sound and weight. But seeing that this is only around $100 puts the quality in quite good perspective compared to my sense of what makes for a great gaming headset. So, these caveats are still here, but for a $100 headset, this boosts my rating to 4 stars.

Great headset, excellent software
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Corsair Void RGB Elite gaming headset is Corsair current entrant in the closed back mid-range gaming headset market. If that previous sentence isn’t enough to make your head spin, realize it’s a tight market in the gaming world, and we’ve never had more choices than now. So given that statement, where does the Void RGB Elite fit in the market? Pretty high up the list in my opinion. Headsets are tricky to review, as their primary purpose is to reproduce sound, which is mostly a subjective experience. That said let’s talk about audio quality before moving any further. The Void RGB Elite is decidedly mid-range, but that is ok. The sound itself is slightly bass heavy on flat, but not overtly so. Mids can struggle a bit, but the EQs in the Corsair iCue software can help tremendously. Bass kicks in precisely at 20Hz, and is vibrant. Highs can be a bit soft, but again the EQ can help bring a bit more ‘brightness’ if desired. Overall the drivers are capable, offering above average, but not outstanding sound. EDM feels less lively, and classics like Pink Floyd Money don’t sound as crisp as more pricey sets. The device shows up as having 8 channels, and with the surround sound setting turned on, the spatial simulation is enough to really feel the difference in front vs surround channels. Turning off the 7.1 simulation is desirable for music (save maybe live recordings), as the sound stage feels distant, and not in a good way. Luckily this is a button press away in iCue. Speaking of buttons, there are a small, but very functional set of controls on-board. There is a volume rocker which functions well (if not the smoothest action). When pressed in, it will cycle between on-board customizable EQ settings. Again, Corsair does an excellent job integrating the EQs in software with a 10 band equalizer. On the side you find the power button and the mic mute button. I had a hard time finding these buttons at first, but after a few tries and using the various plastic textures I had system down. Build quality is one place that Corsair made sure to focus on. So many cheap and expensive headsets crack right around the yokes. I had 2 logitech headsets that needed to be taped back together in less than a year. Luckily Corsair has made the movable parts from heavy aluminium, which feels premium and adds durability. The plastic pieces feel solid and overall rigidity is high. The weight of the headset is a bit more than what I’d like to see, but in no way is it fatiguing. It is on the bulky side as well, but not to an extreme. The materials used in the ear cups are comfortable for long periods. After about 4 hours of gaming, I feel like it's time to remove them, but I’m in no true discomfort. Battery life is pretty good. Realistic loads I’d place about 10% an hour, so 10 hours should be achievable. Unless your job is professional streaming, the battery should last more than enough per gaming session. Standby seems decent, so weekend gaming warriors will find charging to not be too much of a chore. The auto-shutdown feature appears to monitor for sound to improve battery life. This feature needs a bit of work, as its kicked in during a gaming session or while listening to music. It warns first, so you can cancel it by hitting a button on the headset to keep things alive. It’s defeatible, so I simply turned it off, as I’m pretty religious about turned the headset off after I’m done. Another defeatible feature that I actually enjoy is the voice prompts. As mentioned previously, the auto-shutdown is announced by a voice saying “Auto-shutdown initiated”. The same applies to turning surround on/off, microphone on/off, and power on/off. You can disable the voice prompts, but I found them helpful and a nice reassurance things were correctly operating. Corsair makes it super easy to adjust sidetone levels so you can hear your microphone input. This is helpful, because the mic is playing what other noises it hears, including your surroundings. It plays back at an independent volume set in iCue. The separate adjustment and inclusion of this feature is important in streaming, so it's nice to see it so integrated in the software. Another nice integration into iCue is the lighting. Of course what is a gaming peripheral without RGB? The lighting is basic, and single zone, but it does sync with the rest of your Corsair equipment. Corsair does lighting well, and the iCue setup is one of the best in the business. The microphone’s sound quality is excellent. It is ‘discord certified’ for whatever that means. Honestly for streaming or game chat, this is a great setup. Recordings had very little background noise, and were clear, if not dynamic. Overall the Corsair Void RGB Elite offers excellent build quality, good sound improved by a competent EQ implementation, amazing tweakibility, and solid mic. At the price point there really isn’t anything to complain about. If you’re already invested in the Corsair ecosystem, look no further. The combination of wireless, lighting, sound, and software make this a winning combination!

Void RGB Elite 7.1
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is actually my 2nd pair of these in 5 years. The first pair actually still works, however thanks to the cable guy "He knocked them off thew stand" broke the plastic rgb lens that covers the battery, so they glitch in and out. If i had any complaint it would be Battery Life. the first set, the battery gave out in 6 months, now mind you i do continuously use these. Another thing is I bought the White set also for my fiance, However something is inherently different between the white and black sets as the ear pieces are ever so slightly different and for myself very uncomfortable while the Black i can wear up to 8hours straight only adjusting slightly while gaming, listening to music whatever. There is also a Sound Quality difference between the white and the black.. Black having a Much higher sound Quality over the white.Don't quote me, however i believe they are using different hardware internally as it took me forever to dial in the white ones for my Fiance using the Icue software "which btw is not the greatest equalizer". gaming is awesome as surround sound is locked nice depending on the game of course, very immersive and listening to music np, great clarity. I would say for the price, out of the box the Black set is awesome!

Great for the Price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My review of the CORSAIR - VOID RGB ELITE Gaming headset. At the time of this review BestBuy has this unit at $79.99. Giving that this unit is below $100 already makes this a great deal for a mid-range unit. So when reading the review please keep in mind my opinion is based on other units of equal or lessor value. This unit does have 7.1 Surround sound and comes in white or carbon color, has Low Latency 2.4GHz wireless connection with up to 40 ft. connection range. Now the 40 ft. range may be different if you are between walls that may impede on this rule for distance. The construction feels durable and well-built and the mesh micro fiber cushion ear pads feel great after hours of use. Because its mesh, it keeps the sweat from building up. I found the sound for this mid-range unit to be adequate with heavy base sound, and the mids need a bit of tweaking to get it right. I like the ability to hear the chatter back and forth and found myself lowering the volume when playing lets say gaming with Dark Souls or call of duty. Pros: I love the wireless part of this allows you to get up stretch or get a drink. The feel is solid and does compare with units of higher value in this category, is definitely the best in this class (Below $100). 16 hour battery life is great. Easy software update. Has 10 band equalizer after downloading ICIU software. Allows you to adjust RGB effects as well as an equalizer. Cons: The fixed mic for some is an issue and I personally prefer adjustable mic. The mic quality is also not as good as I would have thought. The mid-range sound quality could be better and sound does have a good deal of base that can sound different depending on the game you’re playing. I would recommend this unit as the price and overall utility, durability and feel of the unit. It is a great dean for this price range.

Worked and Sounded great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall these are a great pair of wireless headphones that work and sound great. **Setup*** Setup is easy, plug in the Wireless Dongle (recommended in the front of your PC for best signal) and Windows 10 at least finds the drivers. I did have a Microphone issue where it wouldn't unmute, but that was a Windows 10 problem since I just had to go into the settings page for Microphones and toggle it on. I've had to do this in the past, so if you mic won't unmute check your settings in Windows 10. If you want to adjust the EQ or turn on the 7.1 Surround you'll have to go to corsair and install there iCUE software and leave it running since it doesn't look like the headphones don't have any ability to remember the EQ/surround/Mic/RGB settings. **Usage** Using it is very easy, though I did turn off the RGB for some extra wireless time, since I find it kind of silly to light the side of my head that I can't see. That said it worked in all the games I tried. I do like the fact this is a boom mic so muting is either by an easy to reach and press button or raising the Mic. Sound from the headset was clear and didn't get any drops in my play sessions. They were comfortable even with my glasses on and didn't notice them really. Only issue is I wish iCUE had a battery indicator in the software and allowed me to set a reminder at low power to plug them in. Other then that these seem like a good set of headphones that work and sound good enough for me to enjoy my games.

Nice Big Headphones to Cover Ears
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones have the type of design points I love. They are large enough to go over my older drooping earlobes, they have excellent adjustment features, they have some lights for pizzazz, they don’t make my ears sweat due to the soft but sort of venting earpad material, they absolutely don’t pinch my head and they sound great. They also have 7.1 surround sound – nice. You can control these phones using the Corsair iCue software. I also have the Corsair K57 keyboard and the software handles both of these devices. You can control lighting, sound equalization and more in the software. The battery life can be extended greatly by not using the lights but they sure are sharp and not overdone. I did have one problem. I could not get the mic off mute. I called Corsair support and actually had a tech in less than a minute. However, I found while on the call that if I stored the mic fully in the ‘vertical’ position (push until it locks in place), the mute function now went off when I then lowered the mic to a horizontal position. You can also control muting via a button on the headset. What I think is that it was not an obstruction, but rather pushing the mic all the way to its locked position caused a reset of the mic auto-mute switch in the headset. I think this because it seems to be a permanent fix now. I did google this problem and found many times folks had this same mute problem and tried all sorts of restarts, resets and firmware upgrades. I think the solution I stumbled on, may be the real problem and is a permanent fix and/or procedure. Subsequently I did not have to put the mic all the way up to the locked vertical position, i.e. just lifting the mic muted it as designed. Now the mute button also worked properly. There is a large USB dongle that you must use for the wireless connection. Maybe the dongle could have been a bit smaller like the one the Corsair K57 keyboard uses. I definitely recommend these excellent headphones which come with a 2 year parts and labor warranty from Corsair - now that is great.
