Using these as reference monitors for my mobile recording setup. These work great for what they are and are tough to beat for the cost. The larger sized offerings from this and other manufacturers would have more bass response, but these suit my purposes just fine. These allow me to listen and monitor what I record for the punk band I’m in as well as let my daughter play dj on rock band with plenty of volume.

I actually got the Mackie CR4's and they are definitely very good sounding monitors. I'm using them as a stereo output for a BOSS GT-100 Multi FX guitar board but they also sound great as externals for my TV, playing back audio files or whatever. These would make nice PC monitors for home recording. The fact that they have stereo RCA, 1/4" and an auxiliary micro inputs is very nice. many monitors don't give you that many connection options. The CR4's are ported enclosures and they do put out some nice volume with decent bottom end for their size, after all they are 50w. The Left/right switch alleviates any placement problems and they are well made and look nice also.

I read several reviews before i purchased these speakers. I even went to my local guitar center to check these out but unfortunately they didn't have them in stock. I'm a musician and i like to record out of my iMac using GarageBand. I wanted some studio speakers so i won't have to use my headphones all the time. I wanted to upgrade, now.. after having these speakers for a couple of weeks, i notice something; these speakers are good for multimedia just like stated above, not so much for recording purposes. Another thing, these speakers lack bass. If you like classical rock, rock, piano, and music that's not to bass heavy then these are nice. I read in some reviews from Amazon that you can use a subwoofer to this and use these speakers as twitters instead... but it requires some additional cables and tech savyness. For $100ish these speakers are not bad definitely an upgrade from computer speakers. Oh they include cables and everything you need for setting up and play.
