This is the greatest thing since sliced bread!!! I am drinking more water as well as cleaning off some items like my phone and such. I have done a couple of taste comparisons and find after the water is amped with UV, it tastes crystal and clean.

Great water bottle…but, is it truly “clean”?

I’m going to be straight-up honest – I like the bottle, and I’m very intrigued abou8t the4 claims made by the manufacturer, but I can’t verify the claims. Ok, so what, exactly, am I talking about? The manufacturer claims it “completely kills microbes & pathogens”, even though there’s no filter. They claim the UV cap “prevents germ growth inside the bottle”. Are the4se claims true? Honestly, I have no clue…while I’ve always been great at science, I’m ot a scientist. However………. I can confirm that independent testing has proven that UV lights can be used to sanitize…so, there is science to back up the claims. How much it purifies the water depends on what mode you use. What do you mean, “what mode”? The bottle’s cap…the ‘secret’ to the whole system…has two “modes” – normal, and “crazy” (thus the name “Crazy Caps”. Normal mode takes 60 seconds, and, according to Crazy Caps, kills up to 99.99% of contaminants. This is to be used for ‘low to medium’ contaminants, such as water from the faucet, and water fountains. For those who are extreme germaphobes, that’s where “crazy” mode come into play – it takes 2.5 minutes, and (supposedly) kills up to 99.9996% of contaminants. This is for when getting water from such locations as lakes & rivers. What I really like about this is how the cap is charged. There’s no rubber flap to lift, or any micro/miniUSB port to plug a cable into. You simply slide the charger over the cap, and the cap is wirelessly charged. Even better, the cap fits most standard 17oz water bottles. I have an almost-identical looking bottle from a Casting Crowns concert, and the cap fit it perfectly. If my wife and I go hiking together (like that’s ever going to happen), one Crazy Cap would be good enough to purify water in both bottles. For those wondering how long a single charge lasts, the manufacturer claims “up to 2 months”. I haven’t had it long enough to test this claim, but I don’t see it as impossible. A ‘side benefit’ of the4 Crazy Cap is that you can remove it from the bottle, and use it to sterilize eating utensils. Again, this is calling all the germaphobes reading this. If you fear using restaurant utensils, believing they haven’t truly been sanitized, use this, as you should be good to go. Obviously, Crazy Caps isn’t the only game in town. There are others…some larger, some smaller, some cheaper, some more costly…but, as far as I’m aware, the Crazy Cap is the only one where you can buy the cap with a bottle, or just the cap (with the others, it’s cap & bottle only). So, would I recommend the Crazy Cap water bottle? That depends. Are you the type of person who will drink out of anyone’s glass? Are you the type of person who doesn’t ever bother looking at how clean the glasses are in a restaurant? Are you the type of person who just picks up the restaurant’s utensils, without looking at them, and starts eating? If you answered “yes” to any of these, the Crazy Cap water bottle is NOT for you. On the other hand, are you the type of person who carefully inspects the restaurant’s utensils before using them? Are you the type of person who rarely drinks from other people’s glasses (unless it your wife’s/husband’s/child’s)? Are you the type of person who is always careful about the water you drink when you’re ‘out & about’? If you answered “yes” to any of these, then the Crazy Cap water bottle is probably for you. And, if you answered “yes” to all three of those final questions, then WHY are you still reading this? I would have expected you to have already bought yours. Disclaimer: This product was provided free, or at reduced cost, for the purpose of reviewing the product. Nevertheless, the above review, be it positive, negative, or anywhere in-between, is a 100% honest review, and the price paid played absolutely no part in my review.

Review of Crazy Cap 2 Carrying a water bottle has become standard practice when going on a hike or long bike ride. That’s not a problem if you either don’t go so far that you run out of water or you have access to a clean source of water to refill, but what if that’s not the case? I’ve long thought that I wanted to be able to get a drink of water even if I didn’t have access to clean water, but I haven’t always liked the options for doing that. I’m a fan of Life Straws, and even have the family version, but I wanted something a little easier to use on the go, so I got a Crazy Cap 2 cap and bottle. Crazy Cap 2 is a truly innovative product that provides a wonderful, healthy service. You can use your own bottle, but I got the cap and bottle together. Mine has a beautiful marble pattern on it, and it keeps liquids cold for 24 hours or hot for 12 hours. I once forgot about how well the bottle insulates, and I filled it up at night with tap water, ran the UV cleansing cycle, and put it in the refrigerator to get it cold for the next morning. When morning came, I took the bottle out of the fridge and took a sip--it was as warm as when I filled it! That’s when I remembered that the insulated bottle keeps heat and cold from entering the bottle as well as keeping it in! Unlike other water purification systems, the Crazy Cap is not a filtration system. No, it’s a powerful UV light that sterilizes by killing bacteria, viruses and any other organism that might be in your water. It features 2 modes: one that takes 60 seconds, and one that takes 2.5 minutes. Use the shorter one to purify tap water, and the longer one for streams, rivers, and lake water that is likely to contain organisms. The cap is where the UV light is located. Included is a nicely designed charger that fits around the cap, so there aren’t any charging ports in the cap itself, a nice touch to keep things smooth and waterproof. Once charged, just tap on the center of the cap to start the sterilization cycle: 2 taps for 60 seconds and 5 taps for the 2.5 minute cycle. A single tap will cause a colored led light ring to illuminate to tell you how much charge remains. That’s really all there is to it--this is a very simple and effective tool! I normally filter the water that I drink at home, so I compared the results of Crazy Cap 2 with my filtered water, and the UV sterilized water tasted just as good! While I don’t have a way to test the claims of the manufacturer, you can find test results on their website. A really neat bonus feature is that you can also use the cap to sterilize other items, such as your cell phone. Just hold the cap over the item, moving it slowly throughout the cycle, and it will kill all the nasties on your item. In these days of worry over viruses, this is a very welcome feature! I plan to take the Crazy Cap bottle with me whenever I’m hiking or running in the mountains. Now I won’t have to worry about drinking water out of a river or stream. Of course, it doesn’t filter out particulate matter, but I’d rather deal with that than bacteria and viruses. It’s even great to take with you when you’re at a store or mall where you’re not quite sure about the quality of the water in the water fountain. With Crazy Cap, I don’t have to worry about finding clean water away from home again!

The cap's blue light stopped working after 2 months but the disinfecting light still works. I contacted CrazyCap and they offered a warranty replacement, but expect me to pay for shipping and handling. Water also has a tendency to get moldy smell even with light, I have narrowed this down to the rubber ring on the cap.

The CrazyCap is a very useful and easy to use product. It comes with a USB charger that fits snug on top of the cap for easy charging. Once charged and placed on your bottle you simply tap twice to activate the UV light. The light indicator flashes blue while its working and ends with a solid green. I will say I have accidentally activated the UV when putting the cap back on the bottle after taking a drink, but no harm in that. The bottle itself feels a little top heavy with the cap on but it does its job keeping the water cold. Now, I'm no scientist to be able to tell if the UV is doing its job, but I'll trust the experts and I highly recommend this as an easy to use product to anyone looking to make sure their water is safe to drink.

    A nice approach to sterilization

This is my first foray with a sterilization product. The CrazyCap Gen 2 comes with both bottle top (the Crazy Cap), the bottle, and a USB adapter that fits over the CrazyCap to charge it. No charger is included so you will have to provide one yourself. To start, place the USB cap-adapter over the top of the CrazyCap and plug the adapter’s USB Type-A end into an appropriate USB charger. Once power is applied, the light sensor on the top of the CrazyCap will blink orange if charging or green when fully charged. A full charge is estimated to be ample for up to a week’s use. Once fully charged, remove the USB-adapter from the CrazyCap, fill the bottle with water and then screw the CrazyCap back on. Press the top of the cap twice – this is Normal Mode - and the sterilization process runs for 1 minute. This is good for low to medium contaminated water like from your home’s faucet. Press the top five times – this is what they call Crazy Mode - and the sterilization process runs for about 2.5 minutes. Crazy Mode is deep cleaning and is good for moderately to highly contaminated water - like lakes and springs. When the sterilization process activates, the top of the cap will display a slow blinking blue light. When completed, a solid green light is shown. What with the Covid-19 pandemic underway and most people taking extra steps to prevent contamination, you can also use the CrazyCap2 to sterilize items like your phone, computers keyboards, toothbrushes, and more. As before, press the top of the cap 5 times to place it into Crazy Mode and point the UV light at the item you want to disinfect from about 4-5 inches away. Move the cap slowly over the item until you’ve covered the entire surface. To determine how much battery remains, single tap the top of the cap. A Red color will indicate under 25% remaining. Orange indicates 25% to 50%, while Green is 50% to 100% battery remaining. Battery life is dictated by how many times during the week you’ve used Normal Mode or Crazy Mode. Use just the Normal setting 5 times a day and the battery should last a week. Use Crazy Mode or Normal Mode more than 5 times a day, and the battery may not last a whole week. The CrazyCap also has an auto-clean function, which turns on six times per day for 20 seconds. This periodical exposure to UV-C light prevents microbial growth and odor. The manufacturer recommends using alcohol wipes on the mouth of the bottle since the UV doesn’t reach there. They also recommend swirling the liquid around during the sterilization process to ensure complete coverage. Before using it the first time, I made sure that the CrazyCap was fully charged. I then filled the bottle with tap water, screwed the cap back on, and then tapped the top of the cap twice for Normal Mode. At first a slow blue light was displayed, followed by a green light indicating that the sterilization process was completed. A real painless process! One extra benefit to the sterilization process is that you’ll never have to manually clean out the bottle again. The bottle itself is insulated and – according to the manufacturer - can keep warm liquids warm for 12 hours and cold liquids cold for 24 hours. The bottle is constructed of stainless steel and has a 17oz capacity. The CrazyCap2 looks well thought out. I have no previous experience using this type of product, so I can’t offer any comparisons. And while I never go camping or swimming in lakes, I can appreciate how this could benefit those who do. I will be using this when hiking with my dog. And, as the pandemic continues, I will also be using it to sterilize mail and packages alike. I’m giving it 5 stars.

Very pleased with this water bottle. In the age of COVID, having the extra layer of safety with a UV-light in my water bottle means I haven't thought twice about drinking from any faucet or drinking fountain. I charged the cap overnight the day it was delivered, and it still hasn't given me a low-battery signal. The purification process is super simple - just a few taps on the lid and it does its thing. Not much more to say about it - it keeps my water cold and sanitized, and it does a great job. I would definitely recommend.

I was really curious and excited about this product so when it finally arrived, it didn’t disappoint me. First at all, the look of the bottle is wonderful, sleek, perfect for traveling, and very stylish 17 oz/500ml bottle. The material feels durable and good quality. It preserves cold water for 24 hours and hot for 12 hours. The package includes a little booklet, very clear and easy to understand, a couple of rubber cap rings, 2 alcohol wipes, usb charger for the cap, and a nice cinch bag for travel. The easy setup is first just attach the charger to the cap, it may take up to two hours to fully charge, while the amber light is blinking it will display on top of the cap, and once it is fully charge the color will change to green. Once it is charged, depending on how many times you will be sterilizing the water, the cap will shoot a ray of UV light o the water that will kill 99.99% of all harmful bacteria. There are 2 modes of sterilize the water, the “Normal Mode” which is for tap water and the “Crazy Mode” designed for highly contaminated water, like water from rivers, lakes or ponds. To activate “Normal Mode” press the cap top sensor twice, and the UV ray will work on water for 1 minute, and “Crazy Mode” will last up to 2.5 minutes. In both cases a blinking blue light will be on until it turns green once is finished. But one plus I like the most about this product, is that you can shoot the UV light to any surface, like your Cell Phone, keyboards, Toothbrushes, laptops, etc, and sterilize them with the UV technology, obviously you have to be careful to avoid the uv light in your eyes. In this days sterilization is a great matter and I love this extra feature from CrazyCap. This is an Smart Bottle product, highly recommended for everyone that is concerned about keeping cleanliness and free of harmful bacteria environment.

This is an absolute game changing product for a whole lot of reasons. Quick background, I am a nurse and we use UVC light “scrubbers” to disinfect contaminated rooms in the hospital. The ability to bring this technology to the general public for clean water is amazing. I take this hiking with me now all the time for clean drinking water for both me and my dog. I was nervous at first testing this on river water but after multiple hiking trips and no stomach issues, I’m confident it works... please note, it does not removes particles from the water and only disinfects. Not that you should ever, but If you try to drink ocean salt water, you still have ocean salt water, it’ll just be disinfected... BIG Bonus also! There is a pandemic still currently going on and you can use the UVC light to disinfect your cell phone, steering wheel, car door handle, bathroom sink or toilet handles or whatever else you touch frequently that may be contaminated! The light is in the lid of the bottle and comes off like any other bottle lid. How cool is that!? Multiple studies have found your cell phone to be very dirty and potentially infectious. Quick clean it with the bottle cap! Absolute game changer and perfect timing to release this product. Amazing amazing amazing!

For my normal day-to-day routines, I may not need this, but there are those times where, "i'm not so sure." Odd fountains, streams, water holes, even tap water, will sometimes raise a red flag. In these times, this has given a great bit of comfort. UV rays are consistent with killing bacteria/microbial that we worry about on a daily basis, so having a powerful UV on the go gives me on less thing to worry about. The water bottle is your no frill double wall insulated container(which does hold up), but it's not the highlight. The cap is universal in the sense that it fit on various bottles, which is very convenient for reusing water bottles at the airport. It is very easy to use. Simply tap 3 times for regular cleaning, or 5 for a deeper clean. Both of which are done withing 2 minutes. It obviously won't remove particles, but killing the bacteria is key anyway. What is a simple added bonus is that it doesn't have to be attached to a bottle to work. You basically have a super powered mini UV light wherever you go. It actually is a lot more handy than I thought it would be! Battery life has been excellent. I've only charged because it was in use for a week, and felt like I should, not because it ran out of juice. I could get you through an entire vacation. But, that's where my only negative comes in, the charger. The charger is proprietary, so you have to keep it handy. I would have preferred a simple mini usb or usb-c for convenience of having one less thing to pack, but that's small potatoes as long as it holds up. Longer review for a simple sentence: it works, it's convenient and it adds the luxury of having one less thing to worry about.

The CrazyCap is a great innnovation that fullfills so many needs. Charging the CrazyCap is pretty simple with unique charging by tapping once to get battery color level. I first used the CrazyCup to purify tap water for use in my Kuerig coffee maker. Just tap touch sensor on the CrazyCap two times for normal tap water and five times for deep cleansing. The Blue UV LED light technology does the sanitizing in a few minutes. In drinking water from the CrazyCap and comparing it with tap water there was definitely a difference in taste. I even use the CrazyCap to sterilize my laptop keyboard. CrazyCap is excellent for travel and for my office work in sterilizing and safety for our new normal living times.

This is an excellent idea! The cap actually kills germs in the water as well as in the bottle! No more funky water bottle smell or stale tasting water. It’s particularly great for times like this where keeping things germ free so important. It also pays for itself over time. No more bottled water. Just fill, activate the cap and that’s it! This is especially great for travelers. Not only does it kill germs in the water, but you can use tha cap to kill germs on surfaces too, like a tooth brush! This is great for staying in a hotel. The bottle that comes with this is super high quality as well, but if you have other bottles the cap fits most 9, 12, 15, and 17 ounce cola-style bottles. I highly recommend this for anyone who carries water with them wherever they go like I do.

I'm assuming this UV process really does work to purify the water in the bottle, but obviously I don't know for sure how effective it really is. The process is pretty simple and only takes a minute for say tap water. The bottle included is nice, but I do wish it was larger. I guess maybe it has to be this size for the UV process to be effective? Anyway, this cap can be used on other bottles provided they have the same size neck to fit the cap.
