Perfect for the lazy and incompetent chef

I'm a terrible cook. And I'm lazy. Enter the Crock-Pot. I find this quite convenient and a must-have for anyone who can't cook or is lazy. I am both. What I really enjoy about this is that its pretty much set-and-forget for the most part. I tested this out by making something basic; chicken noodle soup. Really it's as easy as chopping up some veggies, cutting up some chicken and throwing everything in here along with some broth. A few hours later, I have 7 quarts of chicken noodle soup which is GREAT. Really simple and easy to cook with. This thing is somewhat of a pain to clean due to the size/weight of the cooking bowl. Something definitely for the dishwasher and not hand washing. Buttons and cooking instructions are pretty simple/straightforward as well. I do recommend you looking online for some recipes and I think you'll have a great time cooking with this thing.

Our main test for the 7 quart Crock-Pot was using the Beef Stew recipe that comes with the unit. While we're normally beef burgandy folks, we thought this recipe might become a second-place favorite for us. First, though, the appliance itself. As it's fashionably "platinum," the Crock-Pot definitely looks great standing by itself. We really appreciated the four feet that are attached -- this helped keep it stable. The digital timer is simple yet modern, and we really appreciated both the Slow and Fast settings once all of the ingredients were in. The only word of warning about the appliance is that while all handles (two on opposing sides and one for the glass top) had non-conducive material (I think rubber) attached for carrying purposes, these areas still get very warm to the touch, so it's advisable to sill use kitchen gloves or some other protection to keep from getting hurt. All in all, it turned out to be a great meal -- even our almost-teenage daughter loved it, which is definitely saying something. Therefore, yes -- the Fast setting (still at least 5 hours) seemed to work as good as a normally Slow setting. This is a definite appliance recommendation.

After 2 1/2 hours on high the diced potatoes were raw. This was a replacement as the first one cracked entirely on first use.

Great Crock Pot. This a a large unit, especially our old one was a 5 quart. This is a digital control panel that also supports a digital timer. Very convenient. Very attractive and useful appliance. I would recommend to a friend. **PLEASE NOTE** This product was provided to me at no cost in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. This review is exactly that: Honest and unbiased. The price played no role in the tone or honesty of this review.

Crock-Pot Slow Cooker of a Feast

What a great time of year to purchase this Crock-Pot Digital Slow Cooker with the sleek stainless steel durable structure that's 7 quart plenty. I started out making a delicious chili dish in using customizing feature where you can program cook times from 30 minutes up to 20 hours while you are away and be cooked to perfection once you get home. The Crock-Pot is designed to shut off automatically and even stays warm for late arriving home family members. The Crock-Pot removal insert is very convenient and washes up easy by being dishwasher safe. Like the Crock-Pot Digital Slow Cooker motto says what could be better than set it and forget it.

Nice Update on the Classic Slow Cooker!

I'm only going to focus on the differences to me on this slow cooker versus ones from my past. All crock pots are sized for your use, this 7 qt is good for families and is I believe the 2nd largest standard size next to the 8 qt. The stoneware is very heavy and distributes the heat very well, the lid and stoneware can be dishwasher washed, none of these things have changed at all in many decades. This is only the 3rd Crock Pot to grace my household in my adult life (they tend to last a long time and you get used to how each one works) and its been a while since the last one. The first one was the classic dial control, all manual. The second one had buttons and indicator lights instead of a dial, but it was the exact same functionality. This ones claim to fame is the timer and auto to warm after cooking feature. You choose the temperature it will cook at, high or low, and the time it will spend cooking (default is 4 hrs for high, 8 hrs for low). When it is done with that time, it will auto switch into warm and stay on warm for 4 hours. The time display will show how far into that 4 hour window it has been on warm. After 4 hours, the heat will turn off completely. You can also delay the start of cooking with the delay timer. Very useful if you are trying to hit a target time for much later in the day, or you are doing some basic math with thawing times. It will take a bit of getting use to, in not having to check on the crock pot to switch it from cooking to warm, but the convenience of set it and forget it meal prep will make that a short learning curve I'm sure. We cooked two dinners this week and had no issues, slow cooking to known recipes and times is about as sure as death and taxes. If you've had your Crock Pot for a long time and or are looking for a replacement, I can't think of a better replacement for a family sized slow cooker used at home than this one.

    It doesn't get better than a Crock-Pot

This thing is awesome. Chuck in whatever you want before you leave for work, set the timer, then come home to a fantastic, hot meal. And it's huge. With the holidays around the corner, it will be nice to have the extra capacity for the extended family. It will always look like a Crock-Pot, but the stainless steel handles, unique to the 7-quart cooker, make it look a little more classy. Crock-Pot is the original when it comes to slow cookers, and I wouldn't buy anything else.

I needed a new crock pot, and this is exactly what I needed and expected. It looks very nice out of the box and is pretty heavy duty. At 7qts, its plenty big to hold a big roast and plenty of veggies and you'll still have leftovers! My favorite features are the timer that automatically sets itself to a "warming mode" once the cook timer has expired, so you wont have to worry about coming home to cold food, it will keep it warm, but wont burn it! My old crock pot didn't have anything like that... The other feature I love is the up to 20 hour delay timer, I don't think I would need to delay something that long, but If I want my dinner to start cooking at 10am, but I leave for work at 8am, I can just set the timer for a 2 hour delay and it will start cooking! I love that, that the kind of convenience I expect with all the technology nowadays.

I love this crock pot. I have one of the originals that I have been using frequently for years. This one makes my life much easier because of the timer, now I don't have to wake up to turn it on in the morning. The price and functionality makes this purchase a no-brainer.

Overall, it performs just like any other Crock-pot slow cooker. The 7 quart bowl is quite big enough for a full meal or two depending on family size. Where this cooker wins out is the digital time settings. You can set it to 30 minute increments up to 20 hours. After the timer goes off, it automatically switches to warm mode, which to me was a life saver if I didn't make it home in time from work. My only complaint is that my older Crock-pot had latches on to secure the lid to the bowl for transporting. This does not have that feature...other than that it's excellent.

This is by far the best slow cooker that I have ever had. I had it up and running in 5 minutes, and that includes washing it before the first use. My favorite feature about this slow cooker is that once the timer is up it switches over to keep warm mode all on its own! I normally cook a lot on Sundays and this has really helped me be able to multi task more and get a lot more done in my limited time. My only drawback is that while it is very nice looking, the chrome type finish does get dirty very easy. Other than that it is perfect!

    Do Not Buy

I can not give this thing any stars. It stinks when on and takes longer to cook. When putting in something that should take 6hours to cook it took almost 12d and then dried out my food. It gets super hot on the outside of the cooker even on the handles so if you have small children keep them away from this it may burn them. DO NOT PURCHASE...... Send this back to Best Buy and let them send it back to China.
