Great Performance and Long Warranty
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TLDR: (that’s Too Long, Didn’t Read) Not a ton to write about an SSD. Assuming it meets the specs for that type of SSD, it either works or doesn’t. In this case, it installed easily and performed well. I installed some games on it and did a speed test; both indicated a fast SSD. Pros: * Large capacity. * Fast read speeds. * Fast write speeds. * Great 5-year warranty. Cons: * None. Setup and Use: Installation was as you’d expect for an SSD; just plug it in and power up your laptop. My Windows 11 laptop recognized it right away and made it available for use. Among other things, I installed Star Citizen on the SSD and it ran great from there with no issues. The game loaded quickly and gameplay was fast and fluid. According to HD Tune Pro, both the read and write speeds were pretty good with an average transfer rate of about 1.6Gb/sec for reads and writes. Conclusion: A fast SSD with a good warranty. Hopefully you won’t ever need it, but Crucial is known for making solid stuff and having great support. Not much else to say ;-)

Amazing value!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Crucial P3 SSD is one of the best values you can find in an SSD today, especially at higher capacities! The box shows exactly what is inside, the drive is well protected, and the installation is very easy and straightforward! The actual ease of installation will depend on a few factors, namely what the device is that you are upgrading and how familiar you are with opening computers or consoles. The process is pretty easy and can be readily found through a Google search, YouTube video, or through Crucial's own website! The drive is still a PCIe Gen 3 SSD, but the speeds are still very good! The actual difference between this drive and my Gen 4 SSDs is negligible at best, especially once you have loaded a game or program and leaps and bounds over SATA SSDs and a massive improvement over a traditional hard drive! The biggest benefit this drive delivers is sheer storage size and price. This would make an excellent games drive and main storage drive for a desktop computer or laptop that has two M.2 NVMe slots!

Solid M.2 PCIe 3.0 drive, software lacking
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Crucial P3 PCIe 3.0 M.2 preforms as well as all the other PCIe 3.0 M.2s. I compared it with my Samsung and Intel PCIe 3.0 M.2s and the results were similar. See attached photo. The box comes with the M.2, a screw, and a pamphlet with instructions. It installs like any other M.2. You can put it in, set it up with Windows drive manager and be ready to go. Simple installation and the drive will work. To access the more advanced features you need the software for the drive. Crucial has Crucial Storage Executive and a special version of Acronis for cloning an old drive to the new P3. I had a laptop with only one M.2 slot and tried using 3 different USB to M.2 adapters on two different laptops, and Acronis would not recognize it. I put the current M.2 in the USB enclosure but couldn't boot from it correctly. When the M.2s are in the same machine, the Acronis picked them up to do the transfer with no issues. The Crucial Storage Executive is for setting up and maintaining your P3. It picked up my P3, and one other M.2 (a Samsung), but missed 4 other M.2 (Samsung and Intel) on the computer I installed the P3 in. I don’t expect the software to do anything with other drives, but it should be able to detect them. To format from the program, you need to install a Micron driver, then you can format. The program would not over provision the P3 but wanted to on a non-crucial drive. There are no benchmark tests to see M.2 performance. Changing between options in the software is slow. You can see smart status, drive details, temp, secure erase, secure, self-test, use momentum cache, and upgrade firmware among other options. Overall, the performance is a good as any other PCIe 3.0 drive. In a USB 3.2 enclosure it got sustained 300MB transfer rates. The drive is solid, but the software needs some improvements.

Great for Gaming Rigs
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My gaming desktop’s motherboard does not have any dedicated M.2 NVME slots, but I really wanted to add this SSD to my rig. I picked up an M.2 NVME to PCIe 3.0 x 4 adapter online and plugged this bad boy into one of my open PCIe x16 slots. I was able to locate and quickly format the drive in Disk Management. Moving games and other files over was as easy as drag and drop. Everything has been working perfectly and I’ve seen a noticeable difference in the speed of game boot ups when compared to my HDD and SATA SSD, especially with poorly optimized games like Warzone. There’s a whole host of factors that go into read and write speeds of an SSD, but you can definitely get up to advertised speeds. With third party testing software, I was able to get read and write speeds of 3500.14 MB/s and 3135.95 MB/s, respectively. The 2 TB storage capacity drops down to about 1.81 TB after formatting, but this is plenty of space for my needs. If needed, this particular model does go up to 4 TB. Price seemed reasonable compared to the competition. So far, I would definitely recommend this SSD. I may even pick up another for my gaming laptop.

Super Fast SSD
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Solid State Drive (SSD) from Crucial hits the mark on everything. Out of the box, it worked like a charm. Installation is a breeze as it will only fit one way. Be sure it is pushed down into the slot completely to ensure no problems once you close everything up. I turned on my machine and was able to format it quick and easy with the disk utility. Once ready to go, I started a large data transfer of about 200gb and it was faster than I had anticipated finishing in less than 10 minutes. I think it may have been able to complete quicker if I wasn’t using any other applications. I definitely recommend making this your primary drive, with the read and write speed of 3500 / 3000 MB/s your operating system will boot up noticeably faster. This particular model comes in 500GB, 1, 2 and 4TB. Older model SSD’s use SATA and this generation has moved to NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory express). Early on, this method was mostly used in high end server and storage solutions as it is significantly faster than SATA but just as most everything else, prices have come down and become much more affordable for consumers. Another important aspect is that Crucial backs it with a 5-year warranty. If you want to increase the speed of your machine overall from boot to general gaming or media use, you can’t go wrong with this as an option. Highly recommend it!

Excellent Choice for High Storage Expansion
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Crucial P3 M.2 SSD is an excellent option for a high storage expansion. Like with any other M.2 SSD, installation is easy and my Alienware m15 was able to immediately make use of the extra space after formatting the drive. With the 2TB model, you get about 1.81TB of usable storage. Regarding performance, the drive’s read/write speeds are very comparable to my old Samsung 970 EVO, though the Crucial P3 had the upper hand in a couple of tests with an increase of about 300 and 400MB in read and write speeds, respectively. Read and write speeds range between 300MB-3GB depending on whether the drive is working with small files or large files. The only issue I had with this product is that the software that is advertised in the box to help set up and optimize the SSD was never actually able to detect the drive. This software isn’t required, as Windows’ default formatting software was able to set up the drive without a problem, but it’s still disappointing that Crucial’s own software wasn’t able to see its own drive, even with the proper drivers installed. The issue with the software aside, the SSD works great and is incredibly fast to load games and files.

Fast and fun
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Gen4 performance has impressive speed. Really good load times and data times are super fast. You also get data protection for good security. With 2 TBs you have room to spare really. Most programs, maybe all files that I need to save for work. Never worry about losing documents, photos, videos. Installation is easy. Just prepare your computer, install the SSD and install the storage and you are ready to go. Plugged it in, restarted, and I’m up and running. Fast enough fast enough for intermediate use and really fast for those who are looking for office use workspace and other professional reasons. If you are upgrading then you will be able to see the speed difference. Overall super happy with this product. There are other products similar in size and speed but this product is well-made works with what I have and tried and true. I strongly suggest doing your research before going with any of these SSDs for your existing computer. Troubleshooting may take a little bit longer but it’s fairly easy if you’ve installed one before.

FAST DRIVE
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just a solid NVME drive, it provided the speeds as advertised. My speeds reached an average 3300mbs but I was transferring files between a SSD and NVME. I am not sure what speeds you get when transferring files from an older disk drive. The read speeds were pretty quick when accessing data on the drive as well. I used it to upgrade a boot drive on my laptop and upgrade it from a 512GB NVME to a 2TB NVME. It was simple to install and setup, hardest part was cloning the drive but i have not had any bootup errors and i did notice a boost in the bootup speed. I'm not sure if that's due to the slower speeds of the stock drive or the fast speeds of the NVME drive. It does come with a screw but i wish it came with a heatshield in case it ehats up especially in a laptop due to the poor airflow when compared to a tower P.C. Overall i am very happy with the performance of the NVME drive, I have hand no bootup issues, the speeds have been consistent and I am happy with the CRUCIAL brand. I just wish there was a heatshield.

Great value for performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Crucial's newest offering in the value friendly SSD market is the P3 M.2 PCIe 3.0 2TB SSD, and it represents a great value. This SSD is aimed at the everyday consumer and as such the read and write speeds, while very fast in that market, are not best suited for the hard core gamer. Having said that, the SSD is certainly well suited for the casual gamer, as well as productivity. The rated speeds of 3500MB/s read and 3000MB/s write is really fast at this price point and is a good value for someone who is just looking for an upgrade to a SATA SSD. The SSD comes packaged well and I appreciated that Crucial included the small mounting screw, which is not always the case with other M.2 SSDs I have bought. Installation was straightforward. I first cloned my existing SSD using an external enclosure connected via USB-C, then swapped out the old SSD for the Crucial P3. Performance speeds were obviously improved, boot time was much faster and so far the computer is running smoothly. Temperature remained low.

Fast and ready for gaming.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installing this m.2 drive into my PC was and easy process. Windows recognizes it right away. I installed a few games onto this drive to see how much faster the games load and wow they load fast. The read/write speeds are phenomenal and i couldn’t be happier with this drive. I played several games of Warzone and everything was smooth. no hiccups. I also played forza and it too was smooth with no hiccups. I’m uploading the read write speeds as a photo so you can see for yourself how good this drive is. The packaging this drive came in was minimal and didn’t say much about the drive on it but here are the specs. This is only a Gen 3 not a gen 4 but speeds are still good. Crucial claims 33% better performance over the previous model. Micron advanced 3D nand. After formatting the drive which is 2tb you’ll get 1.89 tb of useable space which is the norm for 2tb drives. Windows just takes up a lot of useable area. Oh well!! I can easily recommend this for your gaming or basic storage needs. It’s fast.

Perfect HDD Replacement
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love using Crucial SSD’s in my high performance gaming rig and this one was the final piece I needed to get rid of spinning disk hard drives entirely. While not as fast as the newer P5 line, I only needed it for my regular file storage such as documents, photos, and videos. Installing the m2 drive is a piece of cake like always and my motherboard includes passive cooling via heatsink. I don’t have to worry about performance issues related to heat since it will only be low use for file transfers. The included screw fits perfectly into my motherboard and installation takes only mere seconds. I enjoy the crucial executive software so I can view statistics and optimization of my drives, though they never need any cleanup! This version is PCIe 3.0 so it isn’t quite as fast as the PCIe 4.0 version that I have my boot drive and high priority games on, but the read/write speeds are still phenomenal at over 3GB. I know I can trust the Crucial name and not have to worry about losing my data.

Easy to install and amazing performance!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This ssd is exactly what my aging home theater PB build needed! I built my own HTPC about 7 years ago with top of the line at the time everything, Intel Extreme core I7 processor, 500 GB Solid State drive Sata 6 GBs, X99 chipset motherboard, and Nvidia 960 Graphics card. I built it to play 4k video when 4k was first coming out and there were no players or disks on the market yet. The only place you could get 4k was online. Well that PC has served me awesomely, and I'm still running it in my living room today. Only thing is it started to slow down... and the new computers and programs coming out now really show how old my used to be top of the line computer has become. So I started looking around for ways to refresh and upgrade it instead of replacing it. Well it turns out that the mother board I have supports M.2 PCIE 3 so I started looking around for a nice new M.2 ssd to install and help refresh my aging PC. The Crucial P3 2TB PCIe 3.0 NVMe M.2 2280 SSD fit the bill perfectly. All I had to do was unplug my PC, open the cover, install the M.2 drive into the slot on the motherboard, tighten one mounting screw, and it was installed, just that easy. Put the cover back on, signed onto Crucials' website, and followed their instructions for how to get it set up and to clone my original hard drive and switch to the Crucial as the primary boot drive. I could tell it was fast by the fact that I was able to clone my 500 GB Solid state sata 6 drive onto the Crucial drive in less than an hour... It was actually closer to 30 minutes, but it went so fast I actually didn't notice it was done until a while after it finished. After setting my PC up to boot off of the M.2 drive, I could imediately notice programs opening and closing slightly faster, files transfer faster by a lot, I might be imagining it, but even the internet pages seem to load and respond more quickly! All from a simple hard drive upgrade. I'm super impressed! I ran some benchmarks, and the hard drive scores are off the charts, and I ran the Tomb Raider Shadow gaming benchmark, at 1080p previously the best this PC could muster was 34 FPS average on the benchmark suite, but now It's pulling 39 FPS average, and the minimum frame rates came way up, so even though it's not that much faster average, it's much smoother and less jumpy. Overall a big improvement in playability. I could go on and on singing the praises for this hard drive, I highly recommend it to anyone!

Large capacity fast drive
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical at first with the drive, but once it was installed and formatted, I ran it through my own test. I downloaded my main game to play which is not all that big but when it was on a standard spinning drive would take minutes to load. So, I first uninstalled the game on my PC and then reinstalled it to this drive. The speed at which it installed was pretty impressive. It took about 30 minutes to download and install to the drive. Compared to a spinning drive that takes more than an hour to do the same task, I was surprised. Once the game was installed, I ran it to see how fast it actually opened and loaded. Well, this was another surprising moment as it took seconds for the game to fully load, when it was on a spinning drive it would take a minute or more. Overall, with the speed I am pretty impressed. Installation didn't go without a hitch though. Once I got the computer tore down and put back together with the new drive installed, I went to Windows file explorer and did not see the drive. This was not all that bad as I knew what to do after I didn't see the drive on the list. I had to go into disk manager and initialize the drive and format it so that Windows could recognize it and it was usable. That part of the install took mere seconds to format the drive, spinning HDDs are much slower especially ones of this size. Overall if you are looking for a drive to speed up your gaming experience or your computer in general, I would recommend this as a lower cost alternative to more expensive well-known brands. The next task for me is to clone my main drive onto another one of these and use it as the boot drive. Of course, that is going to require a bit of looking at the manufacturer's website to follow their guide as they have it available.

Pretty good drive
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Crucial 2TB NVMe is a straight forward storage solution. Out of the box you get the NVMe, a spare screw (In case the motherboard doesn't have one), and an insert. Installing it takes less then 3-5 minutes depending on how long it takes you to take your case off. The NVMe comes with a thin thermal tape it seems. I wish it came with a heatsink. Considering that heatsinks cost about $8 on average, throwing one in would have been a nice touch. It's a gen 3 NVMe which means that it won't be as fast as the gen 4 models, but it also means that it won't rise in temperatures that much either. I installed it as my secondary drive, and installed games from my launcher. I have a gen 4 as my main drive, and I did not see that much of a regression in terms of games loading during gameplay. I did however see a slowdown when I was editing some videos. All in all it's a nice drive, easy to install, but as mentioned, throwing in a heatsink would have added extra value. It's the only reason I dropped a star. Other than that, works fine, and I'll be adding a heatsink to it just in case.

Fast. Good price point.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro: -Fast Gen 3 drive -Good price Con: -The P3 Plus Gen 4 ver is just slightly more expensive Though a PCIe Gen 3, it’s a fast drive at a good price. It’s all black and has a clean label. The only point against it is that the P3 Plus, a Gen 4 drive, costs just slightly more and would be a better choice if you have a PCIe 4 slot or are planning on upgrading to one. I didn’t have any issue installing and initializing the drive on my PC. There's a link on their website to download Acronis to clone the drive, but I ended up using a different cloning software. Using it as an internal drive wasn't an issue, but I did have an issue trying to use it with an external enclosure. This particular drive wasn’t recognized and gave me an error while using the enclosure, while other, faster drives I have worked fine. I’m willing to believe it’s an issue with the enclosure, but it’s something worth noting. Performance wise, I have no complaints. It has a high transfer speed among Gen 3. Games loaded in an instant and had no issues. I rendered video to the drive with OBS and again no issues.

Affordable Performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been looking for a second M.2 PCIe NVMe Drive for my gaming PC for quite awhile. I wanted something that would work great to run all of my games, and compliment my primary SSD as well as my Ryzen 7 5800X CPU and 3080ti Graphics Card. I spent a lot of money on my build and wanted something that had 2TB of storage, but also that would load my games really quickly, however my budget was about gone so I had to really shop around before I just dropped the funds on any SSD I could find. Lucky for me the Crucial P3 lined up with what I wanted to spend and it had 2TB! Install was a breeze, the same as any 2280 NVMe SSD would be. I would say it took me about 15 minutes to get my case open and get this in, and then put everything back together. The first thing I noticed was how QUICKLY my Steam downloads are now, WOW! I am downloading insanely faster and finally getting better use out of my Gigabit internet service. All of my games load so much faster than before, and I can move files a lot faster too! Overall I would definitely buy this again!
