INTRO The P3 is Crucial’s entry into the value NVMe market. The P3 Plus is a step above the base Crucial P3, as the P3 Plus supports the newest Gen 4 NVMe architecture. To keep costs down, the P3’s use QLC NAND, instead of the more desirable TLC, MLC, or SLC NAND. However, the P3’s use high quality NAND manufactured by Micron and come with a very generous 5-year warranty with up to 440TBW. While the Terabytes Written is slightly less than some of its competitors, it is still a generous amount and likely more than anyone would see in the drive’s lifetime. SYSTEM CONFIGURATION My test computer is a new 2022 Acer Nitro 5 laptop. The laptop sports the latest 12th generation Intel Alder Lake Core i5 processor, 16GB of RAM, and most importantly, supports the latest Gen4 NVMe interface. While it seems illogical to put a drive in a new laptop, I’ve been less than impressed with the performance of the Micron drive installed in the computer. The OEM drive offers mediocre performance, at best, often on par with a Gen3 NVMe drive. Stress testing the factory drive quickly revealed that the Micron drive was unable to maintain thermals during testing, quickly reaching maximum temperature and slowing performance for survival. Hoping for improved performance, but expecting to be less than impressed, I installed the P3 Plus, a fresh copy of Windows 11 and began testing. How did the Crucial P3 Plus perform? In one word; EXCELLENT. Sequential Read and Write speeds were exactly on point of what Crucial said they would be. Often real-world results are dramatically less than manufacturer’s marketing hype, but not with the P3. It easily matched the manufacturer’s rated specs. Outstanding. As pleased as I was with the speed of the drive, I was even more impressed with its efficiency. The same stress tests that quickly over-heated my Acer installed Micron drive, proved no challenge for the Crucial. The P3 Plus saw a maximum temperature of only 52C, well below the maximum limit allowed. The drive was speedy at the beginning of the testing as stayed consistently fast throughout. After running my Crystal Disk Mark tests, I wanted to test the ability of the drive to recover from heavy sustained usage. Having a clean installation of Windows 11 meant that the drive had no previously installed games, a perfect chance to see if the drive could keep up with the PC. Turning to Call of Duty: War Zone seemed like a proper challenge. The game clocks in at a ridiculous 186GB. Could the P3 Plus keep up with my gigabit internet service, or would it tank and start chugging after being bombarded with so much data? I’m happy to report that the Plus handled the workload without falter. The download varied anywhere from 75MB/s up to approximately 105MB/s (rates slowed due to network traffic and congestion) for the entire 186GB transfer. The P3 didn’t break a sweat. The drive kept taking in data as fast as my ethernet connection could provide it, never slowing and never overheating. Max temperatures during this long, sustained write to the drive never topped 40C. Great work Crucial. FINAL THOUGHTS This is one of the very rare products that I can’t think of any negatives about. Honestly, I’m at a loss for words. To be on the safe side, I wish it would come with a heat spreader. But, I can’t knock the product because it didn’t, as the temps never reached the point to where a heat sink would have been necessary. At the end of my use and testing, I have nothing negative to say about the P3 Plus. It is very fast, keeps its cool even under heavy workloads and even comes with that odd, little Phillips screw that you never seem to have when you want to add or install an NVMe drive. A pleasant addition. I wish all drive makers would include that screw with their drives. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I cannot believe how far memory has come. I have owned other crucial DDR RAM before and I had no issues in the past. This was back in the day when building your own PC was the in thing. From super loud spinning disks to diskless to now solid state chips (ie jump drives on steroids). AND they are getting smaller and smaller and smaller. Wow. Incredible engineering to stack the chip. 2 TB in such a small compact form just blows my mind. Setup was super easy. I popped open the bottom of my PC and slid the solid state drive in and fired it up. I went through the formatting and I was in. Windows 11 was easy to format. External hard drive via USB C was lightning quick. I transfered 96 GB in 5 mins. I was moving raw 4K data back and forth between my other hard drive and the portable drive via USB C with ease. No lag. Game play and saving my game data was great. No issues with using this as my main storage. Would highly recommend this product to augment your current storage needs that are demanding and require the need for speed.

So far it's read and write speed are pretty good. I normally use this for gaming. And works quite well so far loving the product been a while with it too and no issues.

2 TB of internal SSD with fast performance and for only $124.99? Yes please. So far this is performing as expected and has zero issues. This was easy to install and recognized by BIOS and Windows. It's a great deal if looking for extra storage

This ssd is great if you want something that is fast and affordable. I recently bought a laptop with less space purposefully, so that I could buy extra space for cheaper and install myself... it's a great ssd and easy to install I highly recommend if your more on a budget like I was.

The Crucial P5 is faster and more expensive than this P3 version, but as this is a PCIE4 level NVMe drive, it can support PCIE speeds. Since I was using it as an external, not in a motherboard, the speed ceiling was all in the enclosure, so it made no sense to buy anthing faster, Performance has been excellent, at a very reasonable price to two TB.

Summary: The prices of NVMe have come down so much in the past few years. The Crucial - P3 Plus 2TB PCIe Gen 4.0 NVMe is a good balance of fast speeds and reliable memory at the same time of being low cost. On several test with CrystalDisk, I was able to reach Crucial's stated read and write speeds. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking to use as their main operating system drive or additional storage. In the Box: Crucial - P3 Plus 2TB Gen 4 NVMe Hardware (screw) Manuals While most motherboards can take M.2 style NVMe drives make sure your MB can accept this form factor. Use: I used this as my spare drive on my gaming/video editing computer to keep all my working video files. It does a great job of quickly loading project files. Using CrystalDiskMark benchmarking tool I was able to get Crucial' read and write stated speeds or very close to it in some other testing. (See images for more details) I ran several test and posted a few random test results with not just 1gib testing but also 32gib. Conclusion: Crucial - P3 Plus 2TB Gen 4 NVMe is a good choice as a main or spare drive. I'd recommend this for anyone looking to get a good balance of speed and low cost.

It is always fun to test the speeds of today's latest SSD drives. They get so fast, how do you know which is the fastest. I was able to test out this drive. I have used many NVME high speed drives so have a good idea of the performance one can expect. The setup was pretty smooth. I installed in the spare slot of my desktop and used the included Acronis True Image software. This would normally be a smooth process. However it failed numerous times during the cloning process. I spent 2 hours trying to get it to move my existing ssd to this one so I did not have to reinstall anything. In the end I was unable to get Windows to boot. I had to reinstall Win 11 with the new SSD installed and then everything worked. To be fair I could have tried support in case there was something I was missing but it should just work and I have had other brands successfully work like this so I just reinstalled the OS. Finally in use it is hard to tell how fast the drive is. It peformed just as snappy as any SSD appears. I copied large files to/from. I loaded games and large .Raw files and all worked instantly. I did run a speed test against the drive that came with my Desktop and unfortunately this was slower. Most users will not notice and if this drive is cheaper then I would go for it. However if there are other brands in the same price range I would recommend checking actual reviews for speeds as this is not the fastest of their class for a PCI 4.0 SSD.

One of the best affordable NVMe SSDs on the market right now it benchmarks just about at Samsung speeds as well as any of the other big competitors for its price point and my experience with the warranty with crucial is I can work with them way easier than any of the other competitors like Samsung which creates so many hula hoops of fire just to get your warranty through that you give up whereas this one is easy you just got to keep the box and I know that's a big thing for some people but keep the darn box and packaging at least for the first year and then save it aside to throw it aside That being said works with just about every computer out there that will take a m.2 and VME SSD but you need to keep in mind that this is different than a m.2 SSD which is older technology and this will not work with those type of laptops or desktops.

Did the trick. My previous NVMe blew up. Slapped this into my pc with minimal hassle and works like a charm. I use it as a gaming drive mainly since the Drive cache is using QLC and is not as fast as my main drive. Overall it is a solid budget drive.

This is supposed to be part of the "budget" line of drives, but the performance is quite good. The speeds of this gen 4 drive can generally match or exceed the "mid range" gen 3 drives! This drive does not come with a heat sink, and the board is single-sided (no parts on the bottom of the board). Also, being a budget drive, I strongly suspect that it does not have a DRAM cache, but I could not confirm this and I am not going to peel the sticker off just to find out. Modern budget drive use "HMB" which means that some of your CPU DRAM is used for the cache. But the speeds are good enough for just about anybody. Sequential reads are 5GB/s and sequential writes are 4.3GB/s. You can spend more for higher speeds, but for the average user (office usage, gaming, etc.) these speeds are more than good enough. Is it worth extra money to shave 1/10 of a second off of the level loading time? Another nice feature was that the package even included a screw. You can supposedly download disk image transfer software to copy your OS onto this drive, but I did not test out this functionality.

Crucial is a reliable brand, so this SSD is excellent for storage for reasonable price. I got one for my laptop and now I have a extended storage/backup without saturate the main drive.

The Crucial P3 Plus is incredibly fast and worth the upgrade. Unboxing: In the box you get the Crucial P3 Plus and a mounting screw. There is no heatsink or thermal tape. I'm not sure if Best Buy/Crucial sell this with an included heatsink option. Fortunately my motherboard already has a heatsink for NVMe drives. Installation: It's really easy, assuming you know what you're doing. If you need to clone your old drive to the P3 Plus, it's easy to do but I did a fresh install. Performance. WOW. Mind blowing fast. The Crucial P3 Plus 2TB was faster than my WD SN850 and smoked the drive it replaced which was a WD Blue 2TB. Benchmark screenshots are uploaded but also written below WDSN850: Sequential Read 1,709Mb/s Bench 304% WDC2TB: Sequential Read 434Mb/s Bench 114% Crucial P3 Plus: Sequential Read 3,124 Mb/s Bench 478% Yes, not a typo. Wow. Wow. Wow.... The Crucial P3 plus is 1.8x faster than what I considered to be amazing performance. Games are loading at phenomenal speeds and I cannot recommend this drive highly enough. I rarely, if ever, give 5 stars but I am just blown away by the difference. This is an incredible drive and if you're ready to make the move to PCIe 4.0 you cannot fault this drive. Just. Make sure you protect it with a heatsink.

I got this super easy to install, and I still have space to download more games. Its speed is also not bad in most all of my games I am the first on loaded in due to the high speed of the memory transfer.
