The Crucial T710 is a beast. As a Gen5 SSD, it is quoted to hit 14,900/13,800MB sequential read/write speeds, and in my experience using my laptop with its Gen5 NVMe slot, it is blazing fast. I started by copying over my entire steam library from the Gen4 SSD I previously had loaded into my laptop, onto the new Gen5 crucial, and was shocked how quickly it moved the entire library, even from a slightly “slower” SSD to the faster SSD. I also spent some time downloading games and writing them to disk, doing some file transfers on the same SSD, and running a few stress tests in addition to some daily gaming. In all cases, the Crucial was almost shockingly fast, to the point where I don’t think most folks would really be able to appreciate just how fast unless they are doing a lot of heavy file moves (such as with video editing). When it came to gaming (my primary use case), I actually found the SSD was so fast that it exceeded the needs of many games. I tried to benchmark some loading times, but they were so fast that we are talking seconds rather than minutes when it comes to noticeable loading. Playing games with more strict SSD requirements, like Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart and Spider-Man 2, I had absolutely no issues, loading in the world, loading screens, or anything in between. I played some classic games from my library, like Batman Arkham Asylum, Mad Max, Knights of the Old Republic, & Bioshock, and all loaded so fast it felt like playing a remaster on a console. These SSDs are just so blazing quick now, you are really hitting the upper bounds of what most games require, which makes me excited as these become more standard, how future games will be able to leverage them for real-time streaming & asset loading in games. Where I have been most impressed so far, and maybe something not as many people think about, is in heat. I did add a fairly cheap aftermarket cooling pad and heatsink to the SSD before I added it to my Asus ROG Strix G18, and even when trying to stress test the SSD, I rarely saw temps in excess of 60 degrees Fahrenheit and when actually running day to day, was regularly sub 40 degrees. I always add additional cooling to storage given how hot they can get, especially in laptops, but this seems to have really taken to it well, lowering the chassis temp as a whole as a result and giving me more confidence in the longevity of the SSD. Excellent product all around and money well spent if you need super fast storage.

I have only ever used two M.2 drives in my computers before. The one before this was Gen 4. I have noticed the transfer speeds have been quicker. I don't believe it to as big of a jump between HDD and SSD, however. Depending on what you're transferring, you will save seconds or even minutes. I have however, noticed a performance gain on the games that I play. I notice a lot less stuttering/lag spikes/frame drops. The other M2 I had was from another company. Without mentioning them, I will say their software was easier to understand and the UI looked more modern. Meanwhile, this drive has a lot more statistics behind it in the software. Once you download the Micron Crucial Storage Executive software, there are many options. There are so many features I have never heard of. I've never heard of "PSID Revert," or "Momentum Cache," or "Flex Capacity." This drive comes with many features that are not even mentioned on the product's landing page. The best part about the drive will be the S.M.A.R.T. page. This was a feature my old drive had however, it was not as detailed. This page will have device temperature, power cycle counts, unsafe shutdown counts, and more. This page is a lot easier to understand but it still has terms I'm not familiar with. If you've ever looked at the "video stats for nerds on YouTube," this drive is definitely for you. This has features that either someone knowledgeable would know or someone who wants to research and get more out of their drive. If you buy any other brand, you'll get a simple version with fewer features and less performance.

I’ve been using the Crucial T710 2 TB PCIe Gen 5 NVMe SSD for a few days now, and it’s been a stellar performer. Equipped with the Silicon Motion SM2508 controller and Micron’s latest 276-layer TLC NAND, it consistently delivers sequential transfer speeds around 14,500 MB/s read and 12,800 MB/s write in my testing with CrystalDiskMark software. However, I am a little concerned about the thermal efficiency. I read that Gen5 SSD’s can run hot. I have it in a desktop configuration, so its not that big of a deal for me, but its something you should be aware if you’re planning to put this in a laptop configuration. It also might not be the absolute fastest Gen5 SSD in synthetic benchmarks, but coming from a Gen4 SSD I don’t really care because in my real world testing I’ve seen a noticeable improvement and this just flies. I am able to copy massive amounts of files in just seconds. No more waiting around. Overall, the Crucial T710 2 TB is a great choice if you want bleeding-edge Gen 5 speeds at a solid value. Whether for creative workloads, gaming, or future-proofing your rig, it’s a smart, high-performance SSD.

The Crucial-T710 2Terabyte Internal Solid State Drive PCle Generation 5 x4 NVMe M.2 in comparision to the previous generations conducts less heat. Since it has less heat, the power of the drive is more efficient. Can only see full potential on Generation 5 compatible motherboards. It's fast read/write for using video editing software and playing games. The games that support DirectStorage will especially be better for this type of drive. You may not see a difference if not used for heavy tasks. Please keep that in mind when your doing smaller tasks. This also comes with an Adobe CC 1 month subcription which is nice. Pros: More efficient and speed Less heat-producing Faster read/write capabilities Nice they offer Adobe Subscription. Easy to install. Cons: None at this time. Thank you for the opportunity to test the Crucial-T710 2Terabyte Internal Solid State Drive PCle Generation 5 x4 NVMe M.2. It was a pleasure. Yes, I would recommend this drive to a friend and/or family member.

Everything in life consists of tradeoffs. Especially in this drive. It makes NO technical compromises, but the tradeoff is price. Whenever given the choice of choosing speed over price, speed won. I should not that I am a fan of Micron because their products have always been reliable. FAST performance, and even includes a DRAM cache so that HMB is not needed. This costs a bit more, but improves the performance of the drive. It stores 3 bits per cell, so that also boosts speed and longevity, but at the cost of needing more physical memory, which also increases the cost, as larger density memory chips are needed. Because of this, the endurance is rated at a total of 1200 TB written. Simply stated, this comes close to its advertised speed ratings. The issue comes down to price vs performance. If you are the type of person that NEEDS the fastest storage available, then this would be an excellent choice. This should be considered as a great option by people who need to handle a large amount of data: video creators and data scientists among them. For people who make a living and need to read and write a LOT of data in a short period of time, this is a perfect fit. If you want to have a program go through multiple gigabytes of data quickly looking for patterns, then this would save you time. If you are editing video and want to be able to load and save as quickly as possible, this would do a great job. But now for the elephant in the room: gamers. A gamer would be better off saving money by getting something cheaper and putting the money towards a better graphics card. Most gamers would not notice the difference between this and something cheaper. Even a SSD with PCIe gen 4 is enough for playing games. Even if your level takes an extra ½ second to load you are not going to notice. If your budget is unlimited, you could get this for bragging rights, but that is about it. This final note is about temperature. I very strongly recommend using a heat sink with this drive. This review is for the one without the heat sink, so you will need to provide your own. Many higher-end motherboards already come with one, but if not, they are not that expensive. Finally, this might not be a good choice for a laptop drive, as the heat cannot be dissipated very easily, and heat will slow down the performance. Also, to take advantage of this, you need a recent motherboard and CPU that both support PCIe gen 5 for the SSD slot. If not, then the performance will be cut in half So, this is a drive for people who NEED uncompromising performance and don’t mind paying for it. If you are one of those people, then you know it. On the other hand, for light gaming and desktop usage, this drive is overkill. Micron makes several drives that are slower, but cheaper, and those would also be good options.

The Crucial T710 is a PCIe Gen 5 NVMe M.2 SSD so before you make your purchase, double-check with your motherboard to see what generation of PCIe your M.2 slots are on, while also bearing in mind that each slot may have different specifications. PCIe 5 is backwards compatible, but you'll be spending money on a SSD you won't achieve its maximum speeds with. I don't think it's great for future-proofing if you don't have a PCIe 5 slot because it may be cheaper later down the road and faster, better tech may be available by the time you do have one. Installation will vary depending on your system. Some motherboards and laptops have built-in locking systems, some you'll need to screw on. It's your standard m.2 installation affair. But no screws are included, as they're usually supplied with your motherboard. All that the T710 comes with is the SSD itself, and documentation. This version of the T710 SSD does NOT come with a heatsink. But it may not be necessary to have included if your motherboard has a heatsink for the M.2 SSD slots. With no heatsink, it also makes this more compatible with different laptops as some laptops can't fit SSDs with heatsinks. Crucial's claim on the box says, "reads up to 14500 MB/s" but I wasn't able to get that using the CrystalDiskMark benchmark. Sequential read: 13956.52 Sequential write: 13206.51 Random read: 93.80 Random write: 306.93 They're slightly less than 2x as fast as my old PCIe Gen 4 SSD I've upgraded from. The biggest speed benefit I got was from transferring single large files, such as ISO images and backups of my bluray videos. Bear in mind, that if one destination doesn't support PCIe 5, then you'll have a bottleneck and the transfer speeds won't be as fast. I never experienced any overheating or slowdown using the m.2 heatsink from my motherboard. If you save/move around large files, or move a large number of files at once, pretty frequently, I'd suggest getting a heatsink for it as performance typically slows down if it gets too hot. PCIe Gen 5 SSDs are still relatively new on the market, as are the motherboards that support them, so I can't really speak to how it compares to the others. But I did find the T710 satisfyingly fast as an upgrade to my PCIe Gen 4 SSD.

Solid, fast M.2 NVME memory from one of the best in the industry! If you’ve ever been in the market for RAM, then you probably know Micron/Crucial and their hard drive storage is just as good. I installed the T710 in my ROG Zephyrus laptop and it was immediately recognized after booting it up. All I had to do was format it and was good to go in less than a minute. The T710 is part of Crucial’s PRO series and while I honestly don’t know how that differs from their other storage options, it’s Gen5 PCIe compatible and backed by a 5 year warranty. It’s also blazing fast. Speed tests show it’s about on par with the stock M.2 NVME hard drive which is already incredibly fast for real world usage. I find for this type of drive, price, durability, and thermal performance set them apart more than what a speed test would show. Like does it maintain fast speeds while gaming for hours as it gets hotter? Is it compatible and reliable? With Crucial you get peace of mind for all of the above. Should you get the T710 PRO M.2 NVME storage from Crucial? Yes! It’s fast, reliable, comes with a 5 year warranty, and is compatible with most PCs and gaming systems. Can’t ask for much more from a hard drive.

The Crucial T710 2TB is one of the fastest drives you can get right now. It’s PCIe Gen5, so if your system supports it, you’re looking at read speeds up to 14.5GB/s and write speeds around 13.8GB/s, that’s more than double what good Gen4 drives hit. What makes this drive stand out though isn’t just the raw speed, but how efficiently it runs. Crucial built it with a new controller, so it pulls less power and stays cooler than earlier Gen5 SSDs. That means it’s less likely to hit thermal throttling, if you’re concerned there is a version with a heatsink that would reduce heat related issues even further. What I really like is the decision to make it a single sided drive, so it fits nicely in tighter builds or laptops, which isn’t always true for these high-end drives. Endurance is solid at about 1,200TB written, and Crucial backs it with a 5-year warranty. Realistically, you won’t notice the full 14GB/s every day, games and Windows boot won’t suddenly feel 3x faster compared to a good Gen4 drive, but when you’re moving massive files, working with 4K/8K video, or just want the absolute best, the T710 delivers. It’s not cheap, but if you want top-end storage that’s fast, efficient, and future-proof, this is it. I have this setup as a storage drive on a Windows laptop that I use for car diagnostics. The internal drive was running out of space so I moved the main program I use, all 550GB of it, over to this drive. It took about 5 minutes to move the entire file/program, impressive since it was reading from a very slow 2.5” SSD that’s about 10 years old and an old Gen4 slot. While I don't get full speeds with my setup, this thing still flies with it's lightning fast TLC memory. If this was setup as the main system drive, things would get even better. This is about as good as it gets right now compared to other Gen5 NVME drives.

WARNING: This doesn't come with any mounting hardware or thermal pad. Check your PC before hand to know what you need. Pros: Easy Install, Fast, No Thermal Issues Cons: No mounting hardware The Crucial T710 SSD was super easy to install in my gaming desktop. It took minutes to locate the PCIe Gen 4 port and get the drive screwed in. My only issue is that Crucial didn't include the ten cent screw and my Alienware didn't either. I had to get a handful of them on Amazon because no one was selling just one. I'm using this as extra storage for games and studio recordings. Even being a Gen 5 plugged into a Gen 4 it still performed well. Sequential writing was fast, CrystalDiskMark clocked in at 6154 MB/s. Sequential read speed was 7027 MB/s. I had no issues installing and running games. I didn't use a thermal pad because I didn't have one but that hasn't caused any problems. I would recommend this for anyone gaming or creating but I am annoyed that it didn't come with everything you need for mounting.

The Crucial T710 2TB SSD is a super fast storage option for those wanting extra space for games or work. I mainly game on my PC and having the extra storage space has been really nice. I already had a 2TB SSD dedicated for games, but that was getting full and I found myself deleting games to make room for others. The size of video games these days is absolutely crazy and it seems that every year games get bigger. Having the extra space is awesome. Installing the SSD was pretty easy as I built my PC. My motherboard has a built in heat sink so hopefully I don’t have to worry about any over heating given the read/write speeds of the T710 2TB version. So far the overall experience with this SSD has been solid. Haven’t had any overheating, games load fast, and having the extra 2TB of storage is super nice. I am contemplating getting a second 2TB for my OS as well. My current SSD is several years old and it would be nice to have a much faster drive for programs and OS. I definitely recommend the Crucial T710 whether for work or play!
