I use this as an additional drive for a Mac Mini. Read and write speeds are really fast.. I was able to copy over about 500gb off an older external SSD that this replaced in just a few minutes.

Warranty replacement is basically useless

I purchased this SSD less than six months ago, and it has already failed. I contacted Crucial/Micron for a warranty replacement, but the replacement unit was shipped from Malaysia and I was later charged import duties and clearance fees by FedEx. That is almost 1/3 of what I originally paid for the drive.
This essentially means the warranty service does not truly exist unless you are willing to pay a large unexpected fee. Between the premature failure and the ineffective warranty process, I honestly cannot recommend this product. There are other brands with more reliable drives and more consumer-friendly warranty practices.

I love this SSD because it's compact and blazing fast. It also has a small hole to hang onto a keychain. Can't go wrong with it.

On Mac OS, two of these failed! Totally bricked. I bought 4 X10 Pro 4TB in November of 2024. 2 of them have bricked. I'm not going to risk using the others. They can no longer be mounted on a Mac. I went through customer service Crucial. We couldn't resolve the issue. Terrible. What a waste of money!

Two drives failed after a few months of use

I purchased two of these and both failed within a couple of months. I lost a ton of data and the $450 I invested in them. Thankfully, I have backups. There are a bunch of Reddit posts where Mac users are experiencing the same issue. After some use, you will be greeted with the following message:
“macOS can't repair the disk. You can still open or copy files on the disk, but you can't save changes to files on the disk. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can."
At that point, you should quickly salvage as much data as possible. These are the last SSDs I will buy from Crucial.

I've been using this drive to migrate from my old computer's 3 TB internal SSD (a desktop), to my new computer's 512 GB SSD (a laptop). The idea was to use this drive as a permanent location to store most of the large and media-related files from my old computer since they won't fit on the new one.
After copying most of the data, roughly 2 TB, the drive is now unrecognizable by both machines. It says it's not readable. Thank God I didn't delete the files from the old computer yet! I'll be returning and trying again with a replacement drive.

After using 2 of these drives for just over 3 months, one of them crashed after returning from a work trip. I almost lost 2 episodes-worth of a tv show that my team shot. Luckily we had back up files and a lot of the footage wasn’t formatted in camera’s cards. Other than that we did had to recover alot of other files to finish the shows. This was something thag I didn’t expect from SSD that is supposed to be very good and fast. Definitely never buying from this brand again.

“Known issues” with Crucial ~ Crucial Support

I purchased this X10 pro last week. I followed all directions to the letter. After turning my computer on, it would not boot up.
I called support and was told this was a “known issues with Mac”. In utter disbelief I asked him, Why are you still selling this product?” After trying to troubleshoot, he said I would have to reformat which would mean losing all of the data I saved on it. We’re talking 2.5 TB. I mean the whole point of having a back up is to back your stuff up isn’t it? Fortunately, I am able to retrieve the data. I would normally have to pay for it, but the geek squad is going to do it for me tomorrow at no charge. I happen to be a member of whatever their program is at Best Buy. I should have bought a Samsung, which is what I wound up buying again anyway. For a few bucks more you know you’re getting quality. This is absolute garbage, if you value your data, do not buy this product

Don't Buy Crucial X10 - Junk

Crucial X10 failed after only a few months. For a SSD drive that costs this much, I would expect better. I contacted Crucial Customer Service and they claimed they would replace it, but I am still trying to get them to respond after providing the needed info for replacement. Don't waste your money or time on Crucial!

Unit crashes randomly. Fortunately, you do not lose your data. I just did not expect to have to reload the tools whenever there is a problem. I would never buy this type of drive again. I have already switched back to the original type of drive that I was using before.

I bought three of these drives to use with Final Cut to video edit. Two are working well, but one just died. We lost all footage and the projects we were working on. If you use these drives, make sure to do regular backups to protect against data failure. Crucial does not recover data (I did contact the company).
