Good-looking, but don't touch while toasting

Being an all-metal design (save for the base), this toaster has an old-school look to it. It nicely complements my stainless steel microwave. Toasting is even; however, the highest setting doesn't get toast done nearly as well as I like. I have to set the dial to about 3-1/2 and run it twice. (Note that I like toast *very* dark.) The crumb tray slides out easily and is easy to slide back in. Being all-metal, the upper area gets very hot to the touch. (I wonder if my unit is missing insulation.) I have measured the top at 128 degrees F, the upper sides at over 100 degrees, and the lower sides about 85 degrees. The base doesn't get very hot at all. One needs to be careful when plucking toast from the slots. I would not let younger children use this toaster unsupervised, if at all.

The toaster works great. Toasts the same on both sides. Easy to set the brownness. Has settings for frozen waffles or bread. Also looks great, but does show fingerprints. Easy to clean though.

This toaster has classic design, durability and reliability built in. I previously owned this model for more than 15 years with no issues, so I bought another one. The controls are easy to use and I appreciate the feature that doesn’t allow the toasting lever to be pushed down when it’s unplugged. Highly recommended!

Classic toaster, makes even, nicely toasted bread and bagels. Easy operation with pre-sets for bagels, defrosting and reheating. Solid construction, fits easily on counter top.

Nice looking toaster. Fits on my shelf. Knobs and buttons work. It makes bread turn brown (or black if not set to correct setting). It's a toaster. Really what more can be said? The price was right because I had "points" to use. :)

    Toast That Is "Just Right"!

A "Classic 2 Slice Toaster" is a fitting description. I like the simplistic design and smaller footprint of this toaster, by comparison with others that are available. The dial allows me to make toast that is 'just right'. The wider slots are perfect for breads that are hand-sliced and thicker than pre-sliced bread, whether homemade or purchased at the store. That was exactly what I was looking for when I purchased this toaster, and I am really enjoying using it!

This toaster is really good. It has settings for the level of browning you want on your toast and always produces perfect toast as to the setting. The stainless blends with the stainless appliances in my kitchen.

Good basic toaster. Toasts evenly and quickly. Slots are wide enough for bagels and thick sliced bread. Silver color looks clean - no smudges.

We moved into a tiny house and had to part with our big burly toaster but this is an excellent replacement. I think it may feel a little widdley when you pick it up but it works great and is easy to keep clean. There are these 4 buttons that I have never bothered with but I bet those are handy too.

Does its job as a toaster. Does not get too hot. Nice appearance with the stainless steel. Doesn’t burn my toast the way I like it but I love burnt toast haha.

I mean, it's a toaster. But our Cuisinart 2 Slice lasted us 14 years and I'm not surprised that the design is unchanged in that time. It's easy to clean, unfussy in appearance. It works. And when our 14yo toaster died, it was a manual part (the lever handle) that broke. It was still toasting evenly, reliably, consistent with whatever setting it was at. I still don't really understand what the "frozen" and "bagel" settings do, but I use them because I am a sheeple. And because I live in California so any bagel I'm eating needs to be toasted. I have never used the "reheat" button. Maybe I'll try it today.

Works well but needs a better power cord

My last toaster was also a stainless steel clad by Oneida which lasted about 8 years. Construction of both my old one and this one are largely stainless with both having a plastic bottom. I mention that as when I first tried mine out it off-gassed the stinky plastic smell which fumigated all of us downstairs. After that funky business it was just fine and worked well. Another comparison to my old toaster is that the power cord isn't very flexible and doesn't seem as robust as my old Oneida which had a more flexible rubber insulated cord which used a good heavy gauge copper conductor which never got warm or hot like the power cord to this model does. I think that the power cord is one place where many manufacturers cut costs and on a large inductive load appliance (like a toaster) a quality power cord becomes a very important part of the design. Copper conducts better than aluminum and won't get hot like the aluminum cords will do. I would certainly pay more on a toaster that touted "heavy gauge flexible COPPER power cord" in lieu of stiff plastic aluminum cord that is hot to the touch after using the toaster. I'll continue to use mine for certain but I would not recommend using this in a hospital or retirement facility where it may be more difficult to monitor how hot that cord is getting. I wish there was a better quality toaster available that could fit that need but unfortunately it doesn't look like we make toasters in the United States anymore.
