One minute to delicious expresso. Looking for a single or a double? No problem. Insert a Nespresso-compatible pod and push the appropriate button. From standby, preheat takes under 30 seconds, then dispensing is about 30 seconds more. Less than a minute later you have a piping hot, delicious beverage with a luxurious crema topping.
It looks nice on the counter. The Cuisinart Espresso Defined is surprisingly small -- almost compact. It measures just 5 inches wide and 9.5 inches deep, so it doesn’t take too big a bite out of our precious counter space. It is mostly flat black plastic, so fingerprints aren’t an issue. It has clean lines with chrome accents and a softly lit, easy-to-read LCD display on the front that goes dark when the unit enters an energy saving mode after 15 minutes sitting idle.
It is easy to customize to your taste. I like the size of the double espresso but prefer a stronger (i.e., not so diluted) flavor. With the intuitive interface, I was able to modify the program from dispensing the default 90ml down to 70ml; it’s a nice compromise between flavor and volume. You can also adjust the volume of the single size, brew temperature, and time before entering standby.
Spent pods are collected in an internal container. It is simple to remove (slide it out the front of the housing), empty and clean. The container is integrated to the rear of the drip tray assembly, and all parts are easy to rinse/wash and wipe clean.
Delicious results and ease of operation make it simple to recommend the Cuisinart Espresso Defined.

I love coffee and I've had three Keurigs and a pretty nice full espresso machine. But I was FINALLY bit by the Nespresso bug and I'm obsessed! I fought it for a long time. But the machine and capsules are worth every red cent! I love all the flavors...from the Nespresso site.

The coffee produced by this mashine is mediocre at best. Just a little hot and bitter. After about a month the system started leaking around the pods every time. I recommend sticking with Nespresso machine by Nespresso.

This Cuisinart caught my attention because our older unit (different manufacturer) was nearing the end of its life. We have enjoyed our espresso machine for years now, and the pod-based system is easy, quick, and efficient. It also makes a pretty good espresso.
The Cuisinart uses the same Nespresso pods as the standard models by Nespresso. That was a plus for us. We're already very familiar with the different blends and have a ready supply.
Set up was quick, easy, and painless.
Using the Cuisinart is very simple. It heats up quickly and is not very noisy at all, compared to other similar espresso machines.
Flavor is very good, due to the pressure used.
My only complaint, and it is a significant one for our use, is that the machine will not accept taller cups. I tend to make Americanos more than straight espresso. If you are making straight espresso with a small cup, then this is perfect. But if you, like most people I've ever seen with these, also use it to make coffee or an Americano, you'll be incredibly disappointed with the size of cup it can accept.
You can remove part of the base in order to use a regular height cup, but you can't remove the entire base in order to use a tall cup.
It's good that it is compact. If you don't have much space, this is great. If you want just espresso in small cups, it does a terrific job. But if you use it for anything else, I'd suggest other options.

I was hesitant to buy one of these for my wife because most are very large and take up a lot of counter space. This one is small and fits nicely in the corner, is fast, and makes a good cup of coffee.

Nespresso was great, rich thick coffee and enjoying drink. But the Nespresso capsules are hard to find cause limited supply, that hugely pods took over it.
