The Good: Solid hardware. Great range of movement; Pans 360 Horizontally and 180 Vertically. Picture is good in light and dark environments. Microphone picks up sound well, and the speaker is good. Bad: Software app could be better. Sometimes was not able to move camera with app. Only one person can use the app for the camera, so not practical for a family. If software was better,I would add 1 star.

I bought this camera yesterday, setting it up was easy. I installed the app and loaded it up, app was a little wonky from the beginning but the setup went pretty well. The resolution was pretty good, night vision worked pretty well. The next day I went to work and loaded the app to check up on my new puppy. The app is horrible, it's laggy, you try to pan and it either doesn't respond or it responds several seconds later. I tried to turn the sound on so I could hear what was happening, that worked about 2 times out of the 15 times I tried it. I'm returning it tomorrow. A good camera ruined by its software.

    Not an IP Camera

If you want to be completely stuck in the "mydlink" ecosystem, this is perfect for you, other than a really sluggish app. It's labeled "IP Camera" in the search options, but it'sn't. You'd think you could plug it into your network, plug it on, and, you know, access it via IP, but no. You need to download an app on your phone, create an account with d-link, and set it up over Bluetooth. There's no IP stream option, you can only view it through the app. Some people have muscled their way into an "ip" type setup so you can get it on third party devices, but it's a hassle, and could be killed with firmware update.

Great camera, but the app disables it.

Garbage app. One tap settings don't work consistently. Regular settings don't work. No explanations in app, just a ton of "simple" icons. Motion alerts with no motion and I literally got robbed last week and not a single notification OR recording because when the app updated it shut the camera off without telling me. If you are going to buy this be sure to also get a security camera that, you know, works.

Camera quality is good, love the 2-way speaker, came in handy to communicate with our puppy. The updated app I had to start using with this camera is choppy and freezes. Easy setup.

THE CAMERA IS GOOD BUT THE TWO WAY AUDIO NEEDS SOME WORK. THE DELAY IS NOT GOOD AT ALL IN THE APP AUDIO CONTROL. THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE THE ROUTER SPEED SO I CALLED & HAD IT INCREASED, BUT IT DID NOT HELP MUCH.

The pan & tilt feature is great for scanning multiple open rooms. The free app that needs to be downloaded could be more user friendly. The voice feature is great, especially when checking in on pets.

For a PTZ at this price, it works well. Good quality choice of 1080p or 720p video recording, sound, and you can talk through the camera from the app on the phone. The app needs some work and can be a bit confusing sometimes but with updates I am sure it would get better.

I bought this camera not expecting much for how cheap it was. The camera lags often, the app is glitchy, and often times if you move the camera, the video feed will freeze and requires manual reset. Don't waste your time or money. Buy an Amcrest or other similar brand instead, more bang for the buck in every area and they cost about the same.

Bought the camera with high hopes of a nice wireless camera. At home, I was unable get it to connect to their app. After 1 hour on the phone with their tech support and 25 failed attempts to get the thing to connect, they informed me that it's a known problem with this cameras firmware, they CANNOT fix it and they don't know when they will be able fix it.....and they are still selling it. She said some of them may work but they don't know why. My advise, steer clear, save your time and money

Purchased this model based on the Best Buy reviews and a DLink at another office. WiFi setup proved too time consuming, so a wired connection was used. Wanted to view the web cam image in real time on a PC,like our other model Dlink. This model does not have portal viewing, only viewing with the App. Trying to tweak the settings to record only motion during closed hours was challenging. Instructions for setup, scheduling and configuration should be available, since there is not an intuitive interface for the user.

Neither camera would ever finish setup. Called D-Link tech support and they were friendly but could not resolve the issue. Tech told me to return the 1st one thinking is was defective. I did and the second one was doing almost the same thing. Tried Android and iPhone apps and neither worked. Tech said he would get back with me after checking with the next level of support and that has never happened. Returned the second unit and purchased a Wansview at half the cost and 15 min setup.

The camera works fine, but there were/are some minor annoyances that really left me wanting more. First, you're limited by the AC adapter to mounting the unit near an outlet. While I knew this going in, and the cord is fairly long, my original plan to plug it into a recessed outlet above my kitchen sink was thwarted by the physical size of the plug. It was far to wide for the recessed outlet, so I ended up having to route the cord down the face of my upper cabinets to reach the nearest outlet. Secondly, if you mount the unit to a wall, or other vertical surface, be aware that the camera will not rotate to keep the picture orientation steady. You're basically limited to panning up or down without having to rotate your phone or crane your neck to see the correct orientation. Not a BIG deal, but still a little annoying. The app on my phone is a little finicky, and sometimes needs to be restarted, but otherwise works fine. On the plus side, there were no issues with setup, and the picture is clear enough that I can see my dog blink and breathe from about 20 feet away. The camera has given my wife and I peace of mind by allowing us to check in on the house/dog while we're away, and ultimately, I have no regrets about this purchase.

Alright, let me start by saying I'm a moderately advanced user. I had the prior DCS-5030L. On that one, you can go into the router settings, and hook the camera up to a NAS server of your choice or one that you built, which was my case. I built a NAS server with a lovely 8 TB hard drive in it for the purpose of recording 3-4 months of surveillance. This set up worked for months, but the camera was only 720p. It could connect to my phone so I could get remote recordings and put them in my photo library and it would still shift video to the NAS. So, I decided lets do the come up -- lets get 1080p. I have the NAS space. I'm glad I didn't return the old camera just yet: I plug this one up, and uh... let's just say it is trash. You can only control the camera with a buggy terrible little app. Yeah. That's all. You cannot, I repeat, you cannot attach the camera storage to a NAS. Just an SD card or some nonsense cloud recording provided by D-Link. You are bugging. This camera is going back to the store.
