    Nothing like the OLD DLink Cameras

    Alright, let me start by saying I'm a moderately advanced user. I had the prior DCS-5030L. On that one, you can go into the router settings, and hook the camera up to a NAS server of your choice or one that you built, which was my case. I built a NAS server with a lovely 8 TB hard drive in it for the purpose of recording 3-4 months of surveillance. This set up worked for months, but the camera was only 720p. It could connect to my phone so I could get remote recordings and put them in my photo library and it would still shift video to the NAS. So, I decided lets do the come up -- lets get 1080p. I have the NAS space. I am glad I didn't return the old camera just yet: I plug this one up, and uh... let's just say it is trash. You can only control the camera with a buggy terrible little app. Yeah. That's all. You cannot, I repeat, you cannot attach the camera storage to a NAS. Just an SD card or some nonsense cloud recording provided by D-Link. You are bugging. This camera is going back to the store.

    Connection problems

    I bought this camera to put into my mom’s house so I can check on her. I took it out of the package, read the setup instructions and started the process. The first 5 times I tried to connect it to the WiFi it gave me an error half way through the process. I then hardwired it - same error. I called the support desk - eventually told me the camera was faulty and I should return it - I did and got another one. Same friggin issue so, they told me that it will only connect to 2.4ghz connection. So after an hour on the phone with Xfinity, I split the router so I could connect to the 2.4G - after several attempts - SAME THING. Back to D-link support. Told me I should return again but find one with firmware 1.01 or 1.00 (instead of the FW 1,02 on the one I had) RIGHT - I’m going to go back and forth to a store to buy a product that obviously has not been fully tested on a leading cable system!! Taking it back and buying a different camera.

    I purchased this camera primarily because it would accept a 128 GB micro sd. card. I tried several times to get the camera to store every thing on the sd. card with no luck. I contacted customer service several times and was told I would have to the app to change record to sd. card but, was told the web site was down. I watched an on line setup video from D-link and it showed how to change the record setting to record to the sd. card but again I was told the web site was down. I called customer service and they told me you could not change the settings on this settings an you could only record to the cloud, if this is true what is the purpose of the 128 GB sd. card. I could not use this camera because of this. The end story is, I returned the camera. So Sorry!

    I bought this camera to put into my house so I can check on it while I'm away. Got it home and took it out of the package, after reading the setup instructions attempted to get it going. The first time I tried to connect it to the WiFi it gave me a error half way through the process. So instead I hardwire it and attempted it again. Once again I was met with the same error. After getting mad that it wouldn't connect I called the support desk and asked if there was any tricks. They told me that it will only connect to 2.4ghz connection. So I disabled the 5.0 on my router and attempted it once more. About 3/4 of the way into connecting it gave me an error again. Lets just say I'm returning this camera all together.

    Camera worked in live view but it had a few issues. I could not get it to send notifications to my android or my wife's iPhone. This meant someone could be in my house taking everything and I would never know unless I went to live view. Called customer service 3 times and they couldn't get it to work either, so I finally returned to camera and cancelled my subscription, the kicker was Dlink would not refund the 50.00 for the subscription , said they don't control it Google does and the policey is no refunds. Thank goodness Best Buy gave a full refund for the camera! I personally will never buy another Dlink product as I also had trouble with a router from them.

    Neither camera would ever finish setup. Called D-Link tech support and they were friendly but could not resolve the issue. Tech told me to return the 1st one thinking is was defective. I did and the second one was doing almost the same thing. Tried Android and iPhone apps and neither worked. Tech said he would get back with me after checking with the next level of support and that has never happened. Returned the second unit and purchased a Wansview at half the cost and 15 min setup.

    L00ks cool - but.. So I had 2 of the earlier 720p models (3-4stars). This newer Dlink 1080p can only be accessed using a Phone/Webapp. There is no way Or easy way to access this using a web browser. The phone app is kinda glitchy. Limited viewing time and the app times out (you cant just let it go on and on to live view - you have to keep reconnecting due to DLINKS settings/terms of use). If you are wanting to connect this to a NAS for constant recording - I don't think its possible for the Average User to configure. Might not even be possible at all.. SKIP THIS DUD.

    Don’t buy, bad out of box

    Bought the camera with high hopes of a nice wireless camera. At home, I was unable get it to connect to their app. After 1 hour on the phone with their tech support and 25 failed attempts to get the thing to connect, they informed me that it’s a known problem with this cameras firmware, they CANNOT fix it and they don’t know when they will be able fix it.....and they are still selling it. She said some of them may work but they don’t know why. My advise, steer clear, save your time and money

    I purchased this camera and after an hour of trying to make it work I broke down and called customer service for D-Link. The agent appeared to be talking to someone else while on the line with me. After he walked me thru everything I had already done he wanted to open up a case. I told him no I was just going to return it. Best Buy gave me a refund so I can't fault them for the product.

    Garbage app. One tap settings don't work consistently. Regular settings do not work. No explanations in app, just a ton of "simple" icons. Motion alerts with no motion and I literally got robbed last week and not a single notification OR recording because when the app updated it shut the camera off without telling me. If you are going to buy this be sure to also get a security camera that, you know, works.

    I bought this camera not expecting much for how cheap it was. The camera lags often, the app is glitchy, and often times if you move the camera, the video feed will freeze and requires manual reset. Don't waste your time or money. Buy an Amcrest or other similar brand instead, more bang for the buck in every area and they cost about the same.

    I could not initialize, activate or “Bind” this camera with the D-link application (My Dlink) necessary to use this camera. The D-link customer service rep and their supervisor told me this was a known problem and they had notified their management. Why continue to sell what will not work? No reply!

    This is the second day of using the cameras. I bought two of them. I am at work now and have been trying to connect and no success! My phone internet reception is great and still i am not able to connect. Also when i could connect, the picture was so blurry! I will probably return it

    This thing is complete junk. It cannot connect to any network although it has an IP and is sending traffic across the network. Terrible design and zero quality control make this a camera to avoid. I returned it.

    5 to 10 attempts to connect to WiFi failed. Contacted DlInk customer support and all of their suggestions failed to get the device to connect to Wifi. Very disappointed in DLink. Will not be buying from them again.

    Did not set up at all. Wasn't able to get to connect to WiFi or even get it to connect to Ethernet right they need to impove the set up process. Will not buy another d link product.

    i have a google phone and my husband has an apple and when we were both away at work an by chance we both checked on the puppies it would disconnect one of us .

    So after 4 hours of reading the manual and replacing it with an idental product and speaking with their tech support I was unable to get this piece of junk to work. Would not recommend ever.

    This camera was HORRIBLE!!! It only lets you get like 4-5 pics per month and then forget about trying to view anything online. If it does ever let you on it just freezes!
