Impossible to install.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought 2 cameras about 2 months apart. Neither would recognize home network after multiple tries. Support from either D-Link and/or Best Buy was non-existant. Returned items for refund.

Eventually works after hours of frustration
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This wifi camera does eventually work but only buy it if you want to spend several hours getting it setup. Just getting it to connect to your home wifi router was (at least for me) an exercise of numerous do overs. The instructions that come in the box and available with the Dlink Lite smartphone application are minimal. Once the camera is finally connected to the home wifi network the Dlink smartphone app was somewhat intuitive but it had to be since there were no instructions in the box. The picture quality from the camera is very good and the pan/tilt functionality worked well. After testing all the functionality available to the Dlink smart phone app (by trial and error since there were no instructions) it was clear that all the settings needed to get the most out of the camera were not available to the Dlink lite smartphone app. Then came the next test of patience and frustration. You can create a "mydlink" account by going to Dlink's web site where you could access all your cameras settings. It was generally easy to get your "mydlink" account to recognize your camera. However, trying to access the camera's settings or view the live or saved clips from the camera via your laptop/desktop computer was impossible for me. If you use the most recent versions of IE, firefox or chrome on your Windows computer your Dlink account won't let you access your Dlink camera settings or video until you download and activate a Dlink web browser add-on named "uplayer." Then you discover that the latest versions of these web browsers either won't allow "uplayer" as a browser add-on or have hobbled its functionality (I assume because uplayer is not a recently updated/secure app). I found that there was a hack to get chrome to function with uplayer but I wasn't about to weaken my browser's security because DLink isn't interested in keeping its product software up to date. From your local home network you can (using your web browser) log directly into the security camera using the camera's local url address. Once logged directly into the camera you can access all the needed settings and view the live video or saved clip. However, which average users know how to discover what that url address? And how do you do this on a desktop computer if you're not home? So if you really want this camera I suggest hiring the GeekSquad to install it and provide an education session with an instruction manual. Or buy a Nestcam. I returned the Dlink camera back to Best Buy the next day. I picked up a Nestcam. It was up and running in 5 minutes and worked on my smart phone and all my computer web browsers without any add-ons. Granted it was $92 more expensive than the DCS-5030L and costs about $7.50/month for cloud storage but it works. The nestcam is considerably smaller and sits less noticeable in any room. Better field of view and so depending on placement pan/tilt is unnecessary.

Ugh.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera worked great for the first four months. The last four months, we’ve had to do reboot, reconnect, or wait on the phone with tech support 7 times. Within those 7 times, we have had to redo the rebooting a minimum of 5 times. We use it as a monitor for our son’s room. The picture quality is good enough for that, but I can’t imagine using it for actual home security.

D-Link 5030L
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed a surveillance camera to keep an eye on my mom when I wasn't there ! Voila !...Along comes this camera ! Pan and tilt covers Lots'O real estate ! Needed surveillance sometimes... for long periods of time,....something that wouldn't tax my CPU ! This fit the bill FOR ME ! I can keep a watchful eye without being intrusive, yet make sure she's safe,...as she suffers from dementia ! For the $$,...this met my needs perfectly !!!

Great camera, great price!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased the D-Link DCS-5030L Wi-Fi camera and it performs exactly the way D-Link says it does. There were no issues with setting up or connecting to the internet, nor are there any issues with the camera dropping the Wi-Fi signal either. For the price, you can't beat the performance & function of the D-Link DCS-5030L.

Video Quality is Good, App is Severely Lacking
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I set the camera up fairly quickly, but I assume this is because I'm pretty fluent in electronics and how to use them. For a person not so well versed in electronics, I could easily see them needing assistance setting this camera up with the smartphone application. The video quality of the camera was decent, but I was very disappointed with the functionality and ease of use with the app. The pan and tilt feature was very buggy, and not well set up. The app needs a MAJOR update to accommodate more users, and the ability to use the features as advertised.

Do not buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So called simple to install. LIE! cameras do not set up right with phone app. Always some kind of issue. Instructions are easy, but always has some kind of failure. Do not buy this product unless you want hours of making yourself mad. And don't ever try to swap out your Wi-Fi or modem. Add another several hours of head ache as you again try to set up cameras. Once they are set up, they work fine. Too many B.S. problems to start. Had other language, but was denied posting due to it. Very unsatisfied customer!
