I didn't wait the 24 hours like suggested. I just plugged it in. Turn it on, works. Great. The room's been 62° ever since I put it in. Now it's not summer yet. It's only getting up to about 76 to 80° outside during the day, and it still gets cold during the night. But so far this AC is gonna make me happy this year. It's very quiet. You can't really tell when the compressor is running or not. My fan that I use for circulating air around the room is louder than the ac.Unit

It is installed in my bedroom, however, and it is a little more noisy than my last unit. I hear the compressor and another sound part of the time, I think the other sound is the unit throwing the condensation onto the coils to self-remove the water. I love that feature - less dripping outside - just not the noise while trying to sleep:} Once I am deep asleep, I don't hear any of it. And it looks like styrofoam lining the inside; which is fine .. I just hope it lasts!
