Having just purchased my first turntable in decades, I had to pick the album that would debut my new toy. The choice was easy. ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ is Pink Floyd’s masterpiece. Without question, one of the greatest albums of the Rock era. Produced by a then, unknown Alan Parsons, it’s a sonic voyage, the likes of which we had never heard before or since. It’s easy to take it for granted, after literally thousands of listens. Yet, playing it on vinyl makes the experience go full circle. By the time the alarm clocks where going off at the beginning of the classic ‘Time’, I was once again 16 years old, in my parents basement, listening to every track like my mental health depended on it. In some ways, it did. It was my duty, as a ‘Professor in the College of Musical Knowledge’, to know the words to the songs, the backstory and message. Dark Side has it all and then some. Lunatics, us, them, brain damage and an eclipse. Spoiler: There is no dark side of the moon. As a matter of fact, it’s all dark.

Dark Side of the Moon is an absolute classic. it is one of the biggest selling records of all time and on vinyl it sounds even better. This is the way the record was supposed to be heard. Brings back a lot of cool memories. Makes it easier to synch it with Wizard of Oz too!! Brilliant!

The remastered version of DSOTM on vinyl is unbelievably good. If you don’t own it you need to get a copy now.

I bought the vinyl remaster at our local BestBuy store and played it as soon as I got home. I found it to be far superior to the original album and the original CD, both of which I own. I also own the 1979 Mobile Fidelity audiofile pressing and find this album comparable in quality though noticeably different in several passages. I like both very much and would not want to have to choose just one over the other.

Quite possibly one of the greatest albums of all time. #1 on many lists from trusted publications. The themes and David Gilmour's guitar playing are legendary.
