Dark Souls was a great game to begin with. This remaster polishes up the graphics and fixes all FPS issues from the original version. Runs nice and smooth.

Still the same great Dark Souls you remember. But now it runs at 60fps and it runs flawlessly. And that is the best thing that could help this game.

Still the same old dark souls just with revamped graphics, lighting and textures. Incredibly difficult gameplay remains however. I wouldn’t recommend this one to any of my casual gamer friends as they might end up breaking a controller in a bout of rage.

Dark Souls is easily one of the best games ever made and this remaster takes everything the PC version has had for awhile now and makes it available for console players. All of the best parts of DS remains exactly as you remember, but with some nice quality of life changes. However some of the new bonfire placements are a little tedious and troublesome for newer players. If you’ve never played DS before, there isn’t a better time than now.

Dark Souls Remastered Edition is slightly better than the original in terms of graphics. Blight town doesn’t have the lag like the original had. That’s about it, doesn’t really feel like an upgrade. On the bright side, it does include the DLC also but you already knew that. DLC has some good boss fights, items, and dark magic. Recommendations: If you are new to the Souls Series - Highly recommend this game. If you played Dark Souls but not DLC - Get this game If you have played Dark Souls with DLC - Don’t really recommend

Amazing game. What else is there to say that hasnt been said already? If youve never played Dark Souls, you are missing out on one of the best, most unique experiences in gaming history. Everything about it is impeccable - from the intricate and interwoven design of the world, to the incredible and challenging boss fights, to the beautiful music. Every gamer owes it to themselves to play this game at least once.

The remastered version doesn’t look absolutely amazing as it’s still the same game from 2011, except in Full HD. Could have done more with it, but now it’s playable on PS4 with 0 lag and 60 FPS so it’s defintley worth it!

I never got the chance to play the original Dark Souls back when it was initially released, so getting the chance to now on newer platforms with this remastered version truly is awesome. The Dark Souls franchise are some of the most addicting games I've played. Some how while being brutally frustrating with tough enemies and constant deaths, it keeps you coming back wanting more and more! Great game that will keep you hooked and will be playing for many, many hours!!!

The original Dark Souls was released on last generation hardware (PS3 and XBOX 360) close to eight years ago. This remaster of the game improves on a number of features. First the textures have improved and are significantly higher quality. Secondly the game takes advantage of the modern hardware and the game plays at a smooth frame rate, and is even better on the premium consoles (Xbox One X and PS4 Pro.) If you haven't played Dark Souls and you're looking to play it, these remasters are a good way to go. They essentially took all of the features in the PC/Steam release and added it to the Xbox One and PS4. (I purchased this on both Xbox One and PS4, and am reusing the review I wrote for the Xbox One version.)

I have always loved the Dark Souls series, and Dark souls 1 was the best by far. When this game was announced, I initially was not too excited for it, but then I started to reminisce. I remembered all of the good times I had with this game, and the many hours it robbed from me that I'll never want to get back. I decided to pre-order and pick up this Remastered version, very excited to put it in and play immediately when I got home. Let's say this: It is EXACTLY as good as the original version. That's the best review I can give, because this game is almost exactly like the first version in every way, including the graphics. Sadly, this game falls prey to the phenomenon that happens to ALL memories of video games from the past, in that you remember them looking so much better. The graphics are from an era where this was considered good but not great, and in this era, the are nearly so painstakingly bad that it just about ruins the immersion. However, after about 4 or 5 hours of gritting my teeth and sticking with the blobby, fuzzy, and smeared graphics of the scenery, I became desensitized to it's atrociousness, and I don't even think about it anymore. There are a few new features, but I haven't had a chance to explore them. I've played this game so many times, I basically know what I'm looking for and what I'll get out of it as an experience, so those aspects of the game are immediately what I made for. This game is DEFINITELY worth playing if you HAVE NOT played the very first Dark Souls, as it was a masterpiece of a game. However, if you've already played it, and nostalgia is not knocking on your front door, skip it. Leave those memories looking pretty and intact, lest you lose them to the original game's clunky mechanics and smudgy graphics. PRAISE THE SUN!

if you've never played a souls game, then this will take some getting used to. If you've only played Dark Souls III or Bloodborne or Sekiro, it will still take getting used to. But, like all of the souls games, it is deeply rewarding when you do. The journey is as important as the destination and the game is constantly pulling you in to search every corner and find every item. It also has epic boss fights that are punishing to the uninitiated. The only complaint is it moves very slow compared to the quicker pace of say Bloodborne. Some may prefer the more deliberate pace though so, to each there own...
