Just when I thought Death Stranding was weird, the sequel comes out and makes it even weirder. That being said, the game plays excellently and the story is told a lot simpler this time around...well, simple is relative when it comes to Kojima.

The spectacle, the ganeplay, the VO work, the cut scences all come together to make a stellar sequel. A great continuation of the story started in Death Stranding. Epic fights, one of a kind story, talking puppets, baby mech ninjas, a guitar that shoots energy, black goo, Troy Baker....this game has it all.

Very good game if you like Kojima type of story game. It has more action than the first. You also get vehicles quicker in this one. The core gameplay is delivering packages. I enjoyed the first one. The second one does everything better than the first one. So if you enjoyed the first one you will enjoy this one. You can also add the deluxe upgrade from ps store for $10 if you get the physical copy.

This game is excellent. They have improved on all the systems from the first game and the story while crazy is captivating. I was excited about this games release, my only issue was with fedex delivering the game, it arrived a day late due to their failure, but when it arrived it was packed well and no issues since I received it.

This game is incredible, and an improvement on the first (which I also loved despite its flaws) in every single way. You can tell this story was a bit more personal to Kojima, as it's even more emotionally charged than the first, but the key here is pacing: It's nearly perfect as far as balancing gameplay and story, as well as how the story is told. There are still a ton of long, Kojima-style cutscenes, but also plenty of in-game story moments that would have previously been rendered in a cutscene.
Gameplay is the same concept as the first, but polished and easier to digest, with many more weapons, upgrade options, and so on. The main appeal here is the gunplay, which leaves the first game in the dust and is not only playable now, but almost as good as MGS5. Enemy camps are much more integrated into the game, and using stealth to take out enemies one by one is an awesome feeling.
I'll leave story elements out of this review but it goes into some truly amazing places, and is very cohesive while not losing any of the weirdness of the first.
Probably one of the greatest games ever made. Yeah I said it!

Phenomenal game and experience so far, many quality of life improvements over the first game but still has so much of the wonderful charm and incredibly intellectual story and world to explore. I am floored by how good it is already, Kojima and crew really made a masterpiece with this game.

I loved the first Death Stranding. This one is such a step up. I feel more involved in the storyline and there’s more activities and action. Im excited that its going to take over 60 hours to complete. It’s so fun for me to immerse myself in another world thats so well put together.

Perfect sequel, expands the story without making it boring, visually it's spectacular and it continues to keep that Kojima charm. If you enjoyed the first game, this one takes the first game and adds in so many quality of life improvements and makes the experience better in every way.

This is one of those games you should definitely be playing on your PlayStation 5! It being a direct sequel with immediate connections to the first Death Stranding while expanding on the story in a new and mysterious way is really fun to watch unfold.
There are so many QOL improvements from the first game that I truly is one of those games you need to experience if you loved the first one. The new equipment being both weapons and delivery gear you have access to as you build a deeper connection to other preppers and Distribution Center managers scattered throughout Mexico and Australia. Simply things like the sticky gun attachment for your pick-up truck make traversal a lot better.
The combat and stealth aspects of dealing with enemy camps and making your way through BT territory is a lot more fun to do with the gear allotted to Sam this time around.
This game is a absolute recommended must buy. It's a Best Buy of 2025, if you will.
There's a lot of exciting things and events to experience in DS2: On the Beach, so pick it up, and enjoy the time spent connection the world!

A refined version of the original game's loop. As a huge fan of the first, its exciting to see an expansion of combat, enemy variety, and the strange meditative vibe of the first, while taking the story in a more straightforward and streamlined direction. Worth it just for the playlist adds.

This game reminded me of why video games are so amazing. Kojima Productions have created one of the most unique and expressive gaming experiences I’ve witnessed to date. It improves in every way from the original, and the story pacing is excellent with a more focused, plot-driven, narrative. It’s as wacky as the original and then some - this is a proper Hideo Kojima game after all. The graphics, lighting, environment, character models, and character animations are a true technical showcase of the Decima engine running on PS5 as a native hardware title. I haven’t seen anything like it since the console launched in late 2020. Highly recommended experience for PS5.

A well-made and enjoyable game with fun gameplay, great visuals, and a strong story. There may be some minor issues like bugs or slow sections, but overall it’s a highly recommended experience, especially for fans of the genre.

There is a lot of quality of life improvements in DS2, and the story is just as great. If you loved the first one definitely pick this one up, but don't expect to be a complete different game.

**Death Stranding 2: On The Beach** is a bold, bizarre sequel that builds on its predecessor’s unique delivery-sim foundation while leaning harder into action and accessibility. Hideo Kojima’s signature weirdness is in full force, with a sprawling story tackling climate change, AI, and human connection, set across vibrant yet haunting Mexican and Australian landscapes. Sam Porter Bridges’ journey, now joined by a quirky crew aboard the DHV Magellan, feels more dynamic with improved tools like monorails and a tranquilizer sniper rifle, making deliveries and combat more engaging. However, the narrative can feel overstuffed and overly expository, and the increased action sometimes dilutes the original’s meditative charm. Visually stunning and mechanically refined, it’s a 30-50 hour experience that’s unforgettable for fans but may alienate those who didn’t vibe with the first.
