5 STAR HISTORY I have enjoyed our family’s Defender Security Camera system and due to our experience, I recently purchased the Defender - AI POWERED Sentinel 4K Ultra HD Wired 8 Channel PoE NVR Security System, 8 Metal Cameras & 1TB HDD. This system will help me keep an eye on my rental property and help keep them safe. The clarity of the 4K footage is simply breathtaking, capturing every detail with remarkable sharpness—day or night. The user interface is intuitive, making it easy even for those less technically inclined to navigate through recordings or adjust settings. The motion detection is reliable, minimizing false alarms and giving real peace of mind. In short, Defender continues to earn my trust through both innovative technology and a genuinely caring customer service team. I had this camera system installed over the weekend and could not be happier with it. The night vision on the camera is in color and crisp. The deterrent red and blue lights are a big help since we live in an area with constant construction, and they help chase away unwanted company. The AI detection helps eliminate the false alarms of detecting passing cars and only alerts when people are near them. In the couple of days we have had he camera up, it has brought me great peace of mind when I'm at work or asleep at night. Highly recommend.

I was so impressed with the previous Defender camera system I purchased. So I decided to purchase this system for my parents house. The AI system is great because it recognizes humans and will only alert you if there's someone near by. This will cut the random alerts on the mobile app. Since my parents aren't so technology savvy, this feature will only alert them for people being close by and eliminate all the random stuff that passes by. Highly recommend this system who want reliability and peace of mind.

Bought this system for my garage area and Alley.  I had the last model for my house and was pretty happy with it, great picture, good value, nice iphone app.   This new model has all the things I liked about the last model, but upgraded software on the NVR box.  Its easier to setup, the interface looks sleeker, and setup process was faster.  Most of the time I check the alerts and views on my iphone app, and it can show you all the motion alerts with a nice little link that takes you to the right spot in your recording, from there you can watch, skip back or forward to get more context. I like the look of the cameras, they feel pretty sturdy, and you can set them up to have a security light type response, or go more stealth with just the infrared option.  Setting that up took a bit of poking around in the menu, but now that its setup, I have it setup differently per camera, which is nice.  I like that I can add up to 4 additional cameras if I need later, 4 was enough for my needs now though. I also really like the POE format, power of ethernet, which means one cable sends power and picture/sound signals, no need for extra wires, and you can use most any cat5 type ethernet cable (this comes in handy if you need to setup outlet plates and a few disconnectable wires).  ANother bonus to having this wired system is its harder for thieves to use wireless camera disrupters to block signals. II was already able to get footage right off my phone for a neighbor when someone broke into their adjacent property to send to the police.

This was an upgrade from a BNC-wired security camera, and I must say I have definitely no regrets upgrading to a PoE system. Whereas my previous security system was only video data, the Sentinel 4K also recorded the audio -- making it more useful when needed. The casing for the cameras were a metal alloy, whereas my previous system was made of plastic, so I feel more comfortable with the durability of this system in the Texas weather. The spotlight/flashing lights feature is an added bonus, and when needed, I can imagine the lights surprise sending instruders running. Because our house is almost 5,000 sq ft, the included 60-ft of ethernet cables were not enough on 2 of the cameras that were installed unto the farthest end of the house. However, the advantage of having a PoE is that I can use my spare ethernet cables lying around in my office and connect them to the included 60-ft cables to make a longer run; I just had to buy an ethernet/RJ45 coupler that supported PoE, which was relatively inexpensive. I was very surprised by the plug-and-play ease of installation, and after following the setup wizard, I was up and running in no time. Overall, I would recommend this Sentinel 4K security system, especially if you're in the older BNC-wired 1080p systems. Performance, value, and quality wise, this was a needed upgrade for me!

I have had it about a month and it works perfectly. The app takes a minute to figure out but once you do it works well. Cameras have a nice picture. Good system.

Would be 5 stars however, if you go to do the software update, it renders everything useless and you cannot use the cameras or even get into the dvr to stop it. Just have to unplug and dont update. 2nd, there is no way to put a 60ft section of POE cable onto another, they dont make or include a POE coupler. You can get one on the internet though Not really a bad thing just would be nice. Last but not least, all the QR codes on the packaging do not work. For instance, 1 says to scan code to learn how to instal the waterproof connector. They all just route you to, (in my case, since i am an android user) samsung notes where you'll find nothing but a bunch of meaningless numbers. Overall though, GREAT equipment and dang good, crystal clear high quality video. I wish the user interface, within the dvr, was a bit more user friendly and more simplified though. If you are thinking about getting this, its worth it. Most the stuff I "complained" about up yonder isn't all that bad and i think its a great system so far

I have several Defender camera systems because they are quality made and user friendly. The Defender 4K Sentinel system is no exception. Putting the system on the monitor and online took less than 30 minutes. If I can do that, anyone can. Running the lines, of course, can take more time depending on your set up. The picture is crystal clear , the color is great and the human detection was effective, even my cat didn't set it off. The audio pickup on recordings is good and when detecting movement, using the option of flashing red and blue light or white light is a nice touch to alert people they are being watched. Over the years Defenders customer support has been greatly appreciated with their reliability and perseverance in helping me with a variety of issues. Phil

Wow!! These cameras are amazing! I installed them and right away I was impressed. The quality of the picture is amazing. I can zoom in on things I didn't even know I could see. The human detection works from 4 houses away when turned on medium sensitivity. You can set up alerts if you want know every movement or if you don't then turn it off. Either way it records 24/7 so you can always go back and see what you missed. I would strongly recommend these cameras if you are having to choose between these and others. I have had others but once you see the difference you will wonder why haven't you switched sooner.

I have owned sentinel camera systems before,this being the first p.o.e. unit. I like that it has a good zoom as well as a good wide field of view on the cameras. Plus the system has room for four additional cameras if you need added monitoring. Overall im very pleased with my purchase and the p.o.e. system is a no brainer for me.

This was a great upgrade from our original Defender security system. The image quality is great and the night vision on these is a great improvement to what we used to have. Having them being powered by Ethernet is also a great plus. Overall happy with our new system!

Excellent security system! The pictures of home crystal clear.

Installed this system without any issues. Software setup was also pretty straightforward. Will need to use it for a couple days to provide any cons; 2 days in and didnt run into any yet.

Quick and easy setup. I love the single cable POE connection. My only complaint is that it does not appear to connect to my old Defender Sentinel cameras. I hoped to slowly migrate to the new camera after switching to the new NVR.
