Camera system is good, but if you buy a 6 camera/8 channel system you cannot buy 2 more cameras at a later date. They ONLY offer it as a bundle, even through Defender directly.

Installed this system without any issues. Software setup was also pretty straightforward. Will need to use it for a couple days to provide any cons; 2 days in and didnt run into any yet.

I’ve been a security camera installer and I’ve had cameras on my business and home for over 20 years. These are, without a doubt, some of the worst cameras I’ve ever used — and honestly, I don’t even know where to start.
They power down randomly and don’t turn back on unless you manually reboot the entire system.
You only get two motion detection options: detect everything (which triggers nonstop, every second), or human-only detection, which misses a lot. There’s no in-between.
The app is terrible, plain and simple.
Playback is almost impossible because the system doesn’t highlight motion in the timeline, so you’re basically scrubbing through hours of footage blindly.
The cameras also randomly turn off and on, with no explanation.
And the remote connection constantly drops or becomes unstable, making it completely unreliable if you need to check cameras away from home.
For a company selling “security” products, these issues make the entire system feel anything but secure.
