The old one still sounded great, but the connections had corroded. The new one replace them perfectly.

We bought a pair a few years back and they are still working, no problem. Decided to upgrade another outdoor area and bought another pair we liked the first pair that much. Easy installation (per my husband) too.

The clarity, crispness, and resonance of the AW5500 surpasses ANY Outside speaker I've listened to. Definitive Technology has to be a Leader in the field.
