Not a good buy for me!

When I made this purchase I was torn between and IMac and the Dell. I should have chosen the IMac. Two months after the purchase I received a message stating that "'The power adapter attached to your system is not recognized. Attach a supported power adapter with at least 45 watts" after it previously worked for those two months with no problems . I went back to the store and the cord was replaced. The laptop worked for about four months when I received the same message. Again I went back to Best Buy. This time they tested the laptop keeping it for three days and said it worked fine. I
A few months later I received the same message. I was told I needed another power adapter. By that time I was close to the warranty date with not much use out of the laptop because I was frustrated and afraid to trust its reliability. In addition to receiving that message, it was then restarting in the middle of preparing returns. I had gone through the tax season still using the desktops and not the laptop as I intended. I was not a happy camper and the laptop nor cord was replaced free of charge. No more Dell brands for me!

My wife needed a new laptop and I bought it open box(saved some cash). We were both pleased with how quick and convenient this 2-1 is for her. Works great, however, battery life is not the best (6 1/2 hours). Therefore, keep that in mind.

I recently purchased this Dell Inspiron convertible laptop powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 processor, and I must say I’m very impressed.
I usually use my desktop for most of my PC work (and my phone for everything else), but I’ve been spending more and more time on domestic flights, and I needed a laptop that I could fit on a tray table in economy seating. So, I gave this Dell a shot.
I was really surprised that not only was I able to use the laptop for the basic email ,online and productivity apps, but I could also play a number of my favorite games like Civilization 6 without missing a beat.
I thought I needed a desktop graphics card to have this level of gaming performance, but it turns out this AMD CPU has Radeon Vega Graphics built -n and it played the game just as smoothly as my home desktop PC with a dedicated graphics card.
The convertible screen also lets me turn this laptop into a tent or a tablet that is convenient when watching on-plane movies on Southwest or Netflix at home. The battery life held up great and I was able to watch multiple saved shows on my Amazon app without worrying about recharging in-flight.
I would absolutely recommend this laptop. It is elegant, the perfect size for travel, and the added graphics performance and processor horsepower really make it a homerun.

Everything worked as I wanted, and I really enjoyed the laptop a top. The upgradable RAM slots are great to have in such a small form factor, should you want to go that route. You can upgrade the storage and the wifi if you like as well.
Unfortunately for me, mine had issues with sleep functionality causing it to restart instead of sleep, and the screen had a few dead pixels.
Other than that, and I can highly recommend this AMD laptop. Glad to see such a great AMD system in such a small package.
For those who consider gaming on it, it runs older games with ease. For newer games, I was getting maybe ~30 FPS in Fallout 4 at 720p low settings, and 18-20FPS in Far Cry 5 at 720p. Not a power gamer, but good for old stuff.

This had everything I wanted, plus being the deal of the day about 4 months ago made it steal. Overall it's fast as far as doing things on the web or local HD, but windows updates can be disappointingly slow to install. I have never tried it for gaming so I can't comment on that. It's built well and I do think it will last years. Fast bootup is a plus but was expected with a SSD.

I like the speed of the computer, it’s thin and lightweight.
Wish the battery life was a little longer but lightweight is better I guess.
I wish there was a tab to open the laptop as it is slim enough that it can take a focused effort to get between the screen and keypad.
Very happy with this computer!

Got it for $600. Fastest Ryzen mobile and Radeon Vega 10. Dual ram slot, with dual channel support. Battery last between 4 and 6 hours. Added an active pen and now is like a Surface but faster and cheaper.

This particular unit has a backlit keyboard with two light settings. A full HD touchscreen. An infa-red camera for windows hello which is a really nice time saving feature. A Ryzen 7 2700u processor that is comparable to the Intel 8550u but with much better integrated graphics. In fact, the integrated vega 10 graphics can perform almost as good as the Nvidia MX150 dedicated graphics card which means you can play most modern games at decent settings. This pc has 12GB of dual channel RAM unlike most others in this class with single channel RAM. A 256GB SSD also comes standard.Overall this is just a fantastic machine which is a pleasure to use.

Great performance from the cpu (2700U) preforms right there with an 8th gen i7 but has a better igpu. In order to get shadow of the tomb raider to run i had to force install rx vega graphics drivers on it through device manager. I am using 18.1.1 for reference any version newer would not allow me to change the in game resolution from 1080p. so stuck for now though. Just wish dell themselves would release a version 18 driver that would probably fix that issue. But otherwise very happy with the laptop. Good battery life about 6 hours while doing schoolwork on battery saver mode and can play aaa games when i'm away from home albeit at lower settings but still good for the price . Hope my review helps someone! PS the SSD is a sata not an NVME it is in M.2 Form factor though!

This laptop is a fast and sleek machine. However there is a reason they do not list the run time on battery if they did people would look elsewhere. I had to return only able to get 4.5 hours run time (web, email,Netflix,) on the best battery life option. So if you need a laptop that will last moving around without an outlet look elsewhere.

This was bought for casual use, however does perform quite good for games like Minecraft. The fan does run more than it should, and hasn't quieted down after installing updates. Will try installing a Linux build on it to see if that quiets the fan down.

Great features include: Touchscreen, 2 in 1, feel of the keyboard is solid, doesn't heat up or make annoying noises, and it has an AMD processor. Here's the not so good: Battery life is not great, even with casual use, and I'm not a gamer.

I use it for school stuff, writing papers, accessing webpages for homework, research, and looking at PowerPoints. It performs smooth and fast with sufficient space. It did take me a little bit to get used to Windows and the touchpad is a little too responsive, engaging when I'm typing with a graze oh the palm. I'm thinking of just getting a wireless mouse to alleviate this problem. Like the title says I'm not a tech guy so it's probably my inexperience that causes some of these issues. What drove me to get it was mainly the price, it was on sale for about 550 and I was tired of relying on outside sources for computer access.

I first chose this laptop due to the pricing. I was under the impression that Ryzen was an equal brand of Intel and that a Ryzen 7 would be better than an i5. From my experience, that wasn’t true. This laptop was pretty slow. Along with that, the fan was very loud, and it heated up pretty quickly. When comparing this to a Dell or similar specs, but with an i5 processer, it is also much thicker and heavier. I returned it.

Brand response from YourDellTeam

Brooke,
We're sorry to hear that you ended up returning your computer. Most computers need a BIOS update in order for their fan to operate normally. Here are some tips for keeping your laptop operating cooler in the future as well:
Tips for Proper Usage:
1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue. 2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system. Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage. 3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%. 4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis. 5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance. 6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.
We hope that you will consider purchasing a Dell again in the future.

The CPU is powerful, maybe too powerful. This is a 13 inch laptop, so the heat go through the laptop body, you can feel it is hot on the keyboard. And also, the fan is always running, noisy.

I needed something that was portable and lightweight, yet strong enough to handle the documents, email and presentations that I need to keep open for work. SSD drive is great.
