First of all I have had nothing but good luck with all my Dell accessories. This one is no different. I was excited to see a small "docking" station offered up and had to have it. So here is the review of my item and experiences with it. Good: Light Compact Offers multiple connection options for video Has very fast RJ-45 port for network cable Has Type-C connection Has 2 high speed USB-A slots Integrated cable system that is very nice Sturdy housing made from metal not cheap plastic Has USB-C connection for video/audio and USB for fast interfacing Bad: Integrated cable it short. should be longer to let you place the item further away from the laptop or out of sight. Video connection only supports single connection at one time. So if you want 2 external monitors you are out of luck. port are close together, so some wider usb items will have to be used one at a time. Ugly: Nothing on this subject as item is quite good as is. Only improvement would be a optional power supply to will assist in supporting more than one monitor.

Dell thought of everything which is included within this adapter! This adapter truly is a must have for me as I have multiple devices some of which do not have needed ports such as display and/or HDMI. For example, I have an expensive laptop that does not have an HDMI nor display port; suffice to say, I have used this adapter which truly answered the call. I have usage for almost every port, except the VGA as of right now, I do not have any devices that would need that connection. The overall design of this adapter is very solid as it can accommodate a desk area without taking up lots of space conversely, it could be used for travel as its size is very accommodating. I especially love that the cord is retractable. I have an adapter that is very bulky, but it still works, yet, it does not have as many ports as the Dell adapter has. It is so bulky that it can literally be used as a paperweight. My hat is off to Dell for a great design and product that works well to accommodate users’ peripheral needs.

Everything you need in a compact package

This is a great little USB-C Docking Station / Port Replicator. The terms for this kind of device kind of become blurred these days - so whatever you want to call it - I like it. The compact design is the key reason for selecting this device, and the intuitive way the USB-C cable that plugs into your computer stores within the device is fantastic. You simply twist the bottom and top parts of the device and the cable comes in and out in a fluid motion. Never once has it felt like it was going to twist, tangle, or place any undue stress on the cable. I selected this to use with my 2017 MacBook Pro 13" and for all the use cases I have it works fairly well. Using one USB-C port, I was able to connect an external 4K LG monitor via HDMI, plug in a USB flash drive, and use the external NIC all simultaneously. I was able to get 4K resolution out of the monitor using a standard HDMI cord, and I was able to get almost 900Mbps throughput on the device. One area where I did run into some issues was with charging - when I had the Apple charger plugged into the USB-C port on this device and then this plugged into the laptop, it seemed like it would stop charging every so often, because I'd hear the laptop make the "I'm charging" notification randomly while I was using it or even while the laptop was not in use with the lid closed while charging through this device. Overall, this isn't a deal breaker for me - as my device has 4 USB-C ports, and I was simply able to plug the charger in directly and then plug the accessories into the USB-C adaptor. For the super technical people - I was also not able to successfully use a user defined MAC address on the Ethernet adapter, which is something I occasionally need to do for work. However, this is not unique to this device - I think it's endemic to USB to Ethernet adaptors and MacOS. I would buy this again in a heartbeat - the compact form factor is great to throw in my backpack and give me access to all the ports I need when using my compact laptop computer.

    Nice hockey puck!

Nice hockey puck! I unboxed the Dell USB-c adapter (DA310) and it was smaller than I thought. It’s nice and compact with lots of ports. Like most, I didn’t bother to read the directions or watch a YouTube video, I just wanted to see it work. I look for the USB-c plug and try and pull it out, nope, does it lift out…nope. Dang, I have to read the instructions. Well, it was easy to see where I had gone wrong. This puck spins and feeds the cord out…nice. I plug it into my USB-c slot on my laptop and try out all the ports. First up, HDMI. I attach a 24” monitor to it and voila, the mirrored desktop fires up. It does have black bars on each side, but it works. I imagine I could stretch it in settings, but mirroring isn’t what I was interested in. Can it extend my desktop? Why yes it can. Right-clicking on the desktop and choosing display properties, I drop down to multiple monitors and I have 4 choices (mirror, extend, screen 1 only, and screen 2 only) I choose to extend and it does it perfectly. No black bars and the mouse seamlessly scrolls across the laptop and into the monitor. What next… I disconnect the HDMI and try VGA. No problem there either. The desktop with black bars appears on the screen and I’m in mirror mode. Might as well plug in an ethernet cable to see if I get wired internet access. Yup, I wait a few seconds, and the icon in the taskbar changes from wireless to wired and I can see my network when I click the icon. What else? I want to see if the display port works, but none of my monitors have a display port. I do have 2 monitors that run HDMI to Display Port cables, so I figure give it a try. Nothing doing. The monitor doesn’t see any input. Windows tried to add a 2nd monitor for just a second and then nothing. I don’t hold that against the puck, my setup isn’t ideal, and I imagine it works great display port to display port. Even my setup would probably work if I wanted to fight with it a bit and give myself a headache, lol. So, with everything else working great, I’ll just choose to say it works and someday if I need it, it will. Lastly, I plug my cell phone into the USB-c port and Windows instantly sees the phone and opens it up in file transfer mode. I don’t think I could ask for better. I have a Thunderbolt 3 hub, but it doesn’t work on any of my systems. I thought it would work on my Mac Mini, but it’s only Thunderbird 2. This adapter will work on my desktop and 3 laptops, all have a USB-c port. I’m going to pick up a USB-a to c adapter for the mini and see if it works on that too. I’d recommend this to anyone that needs some or all these additional ports on their laptop. If you just need an ethernet (nic) port for the internet, it’s probably worth it. The best part is you don’t lose your USB-c port since this adapter has a pass-thru port. I can’t think of any negative except learning how to take the cord out at the beginning and that’s my fault.

    A small but versatile adapter

DELL USB-C MOBILE ADAPTER – DA310 With the current move to the very popular thinner and lighter notebooks/laptops with the latest, fastest processors, and lots of memory and SSD storage, we certainly gain a lot in the way of convenience and portability. These newer devices are now becoming many users’ primary (and oftentimes, only) computer. However, the slim profile and light weight come at the expense of many of the connectivity options we used to enjoy on the larger and heavier computers. So, in order to be fully functional as one’s sole computer, we need a solution that will allow us to connect to the many devices we use on a regular (or even infrequent) basis. Dell Mobile Adapter to the rescue. This small, hockey puck size 6-in-1 USB-C adapter offers something for just about every need. Connections include HDMI, DP, VGA, two USB-A ports, a USB-C port, and an Ethernet internet connection port. (While there are multiple external monitor connections, it’s important to note that you can only use one external monitor at a time.) I’ve read some negative comments, questioning the need to include the VGA connection port on this adapter, and I’d like to comment on that. There are probably millions of VGA monitors still in use today and many of them are perfectly adequate for their users’ needs. So, when it’s time to replace their current computer that the VGA monitor is attached to, they’d like to keep their current monitor. However, there’s a good chance that their new replacement computer won’t come with a VGA port. Again, the Dell Mobile Adapter to the rescue. Kudos to Dell for including the VGA port. In addition to adding the connectivity flexibility we need at the office or in the home, this unit is small enough to simply toss in your bag when you hit the road. And the built-in retractable cable management system ensures that you won’t lose or snag your adapter connection cable. Using this device is as simple as connecting it to a USB-C port on your computer. There are no drivers to download. And it comes with a two-year warranty. Once you've experienced the versatility of this small device, I think it will likely become a vital part of your computing arsenal. I know it has already become an important part of mine.

Unboxing the DELL USB-C MOBILE ADAPTER was a pleasure--just one piece of hardware in a small, fitted box--no cord or power adapter needed! The DELL USB-C MOBILE ADAPTER is a compact, well-designed, disk-shaped hub that sits flat on your desk and fits easily in your laptop bag. It plugs into your computer's USB-C port via a short, integrated USB-C cord. Turn the top of the disk in the direction of the arrow, and the cord comes out of storage. Turn in the opposite direction and the cord retracts. The adapter offers seven ports to connect current and legacy devices: ● 1 USB-C port for your power source, external hard drive, or to daisy-chain USB-C devices, ● 2 USB-A ports or thumb drives, external hard drives, and many other peripherals, ● 1 HDMI port for a monitor or TV, ● 1 Video port for a display, ● 1 Display port, and ● 1 Ethernet port for hard-wired networks or legacy printers. I tested the DELL USB-C MOBILE ADAPTER (hub) with a late-model MacBook Pro. I used the hub as a pass-through power source, and the MacBook began charging quickly. I connected an external hard drive to the hub, and the MacBook recognized the drive immediately. I backed up the computer to the external hard drive, and the operation went smoothly and quickly, with no lags or delays. The DELL USB-C MOBILE ADAPTER design, features, and functionality are superior to both a small strip-shaped hub I use on an older laptop and a purpose-built adapter that docks to the MacBook Pro. It is a great choice for anyone who works with two or three monitors with different adapters; for a small office or home office with wired and wireless devices; and for someone who travels with their laptop. I recommend the small investment in this Dell unit to anyone that needs to attach peripherals to a late-model laptop computer with a USB-C port.

    Great mobile hub

This Dell hub is excellent, with plenty of ports in a compact design. Like their laptops, Dell accessories tend to be sturdy, and this is no exception. The mechanism feels rock solid, and the plastic is tinted the same color as the slate-grey XPS. Small enough to fit in the palm of my hand, this hub manages to fit a lot of ports into its small form factor. Two high-speed USB, and one each USB-C, Ethernet, HDMI, VGA, and DisplayPort. The USB-C port can be used to connect your power supply, making the USB ports powered, or as an extension from your laptop's USB-C. Connection to your laptop is via a cable hidden in the bottom of the unit. This cable spools out with a twist. I had no problem connecting this and attaching my devices, and everything worked as expected. One thing to be aware of - while it gives you three display options, this unit will only allow you to use a single monitor at a time. For a mobile hub with whatever connection you're likely to need, the Dell is a great choice. It's going in my travel bag, for whenever we can travel again.

The Dell Mobile Adapter is one of the best adapters I’ve come across in quite some time. It’s patented design is one I’ve grown to love. It’s very compact. Other adapters I have that have quite a few ports are long and rectangular shaped with a cable attached to it. This device is nice and compact with its circular design, and the cable can be extended or retracted by turning the unit clockwise and counterclockwise. All ports work well with no issues. The Ethernet port is just as fast as my a stand alone ethernet adapter I purchased. It also comes with an HDMI, VGA, 4K, USB-C port, and 2 USB-A ports. The USB-C port supports power pass through. This adapter has replaced the other adapters I had in my bag, and is the only one I carry in my bag now. It’s a great all in one adapter that accommodates all of my needs.

Works great. I used it to hook my phone up to an external monitor through HDMI and it worked the first time and every time without any issues. I was also able to connect my phones charger to pass through and charge my phone while using my phones charge port to send picture to my monitor. Samsungs DEX worked correctly without any issues. I like how small the adapter is as it will easily fit in my pocket, or inside a pocket on my laptop bag. The way the usb cable winds out and winds back inside is pretty neat and easy to use. I would recommend this to anyone who has the need to be able to run external accessories from their phone as it just simply works.

This small 7 in 1 mobile adapter is compact enough to fit in a small computer case etc and does everything it should as advertised. It's a nifty twist case that reveals a short USB-C pigtail. On both of my notebooks the adapter was plug and play without issue. With my desktop PC the device was recognized only as a malfunctioning display port. But this is meant for a mobile PC and not a desktop.

I have nothing to complain about with the Dell USB C mobile adapter. I used it with an HP laptop, and my Samsung S21 Ultra and Tab S7. In all three instances, the mobile adapter performs as expected. I also tested it with both a 2k and 4k monitor. They worked just fine. Also, the adapter itself is much smaller than the picture looked. It is very portable, and will not take up much space in any backpack, briefcase, satchel. purse, or even jacket pocket!

This USB-C adapter from Dell seems very well designed, just the way the cable to connect it to your laptop twists out and back in seems smart. Once it is connected you still have a SuperSpeed USB-C port available, as well as a display connector (one of HDMI 4k, DisplayPort 4k, VGA FHD type connector, or can use the USB-C port for display), two SuperSpeed USB-A ports, and an ethernet port. This has ports that my last two thin notebooks left off, and gives me the option of connecting to a wired network (*sometimes more reliable) and maybe even to a fixed external monitor / keyboard / mouse, if not via HDMI to a projector or larger screen display). I tried it out, connected HDMI, connected an external USB-Powered SSD drive (uses two USB-A ports), transferred some large files and achieved decent performance. I'm happy with how this device works and would recommend it if you need these extra ports,

So far I have been very impressed with this new Dell USB-C hub. It makes adding necessary ports insanely easy. The build quality is solid and sturdy. I love how you twist the hub to release the usb-c cable, instead of other hubs that just have the cable hanging out all the time. Very nice design. Once you twist the unit to hide the cable, it's easy to toss this hub into a backpack and use on the go. I work in IT and with so many newer laptops not having integrated LAN ports, these types of USB-C docks are super convenient to add wired LAN, extra USB Ports, etc. while working on laptops, reimaging, etc. Highly recommend this hub for the build quality, convenience, and features it offers.

Laptops and computers are coming with less native connection types. There is also the possibility that you may simple need another connection type if you have several already in use. This device fits that space perfectly. Very user friendly and the size makes it easy to carry. The types of ports provided is also of quality. Highly recommended.

I have tested all but the display port, as I don't have anything capable of using it, but everything works great. I like how the USB-C cable coils up around the base for storage when not in use, that's a nifty trick. The USB-A ports are in the front side of it which is convenient since those will likely be the most frequently swapped ports. The only downside is it tends to take up a bit of extra space compared to squared ones. The cables shoot off it like tree roots. If you can live with the slightly enlarged footprint, this one isn't much more than the other brands, plus being Dell and having their highly rated support team, if anything should go wrong I feel better knowing any warranty replacements will go more smoothly.
