For the sale price of $20 I paid I’d say it’s worth it. But for the $40 retail value I’d say avoid and buy something else. This Dell external DVD is very very basic. I was surprised at how thin, flimsy and cheap it felt. But it works. And it was easy to set up using the included DVD software. It does tend to hesitate and buffer at times using the USB cable but I can live with that. Not sure how long it will last since it feels so cheaply made but for now I’m satisfied.

I needed an external dvd/cd drive to load software I own onto my Surface Pro 4. After reviewing the info on available drives, I chose this one as a reasonably priced option for what I needed. It is lightweight & feels somewhat flimsy. However, despite being a little noisy and apparently freezing during one of my first attempts, the drive settled down & did it's job. It doesn't feel like a high end product but then it doesn't have a high end cost either. All in all, it did what I needed it to do without too much coaxing. A safe bet for moving already owned software to new systems that don't have a dvd/cd drive built in.

Just what I needed to add for some applications. Very compact. Easy to use. Some reviews complained of noise, but I didn’t experience that. The sound was very comparable to the drive on my old desktop, and I don’t find that loud.

Simple straight forward plug and play drive. Works well and is reasonably priced. Haven't really used the included software so I can't comment on that.

There was a time when laptops came with a built-in CD player. Not anymore. I have a vast collection of CDs and having the ability to record them as mp3s onto my laptop allows me to then transfer my music to my mp3 players. I've used Dell technology for years and they have yet to let me down.

I like Dell products and the price was great -- about $20 with a promo. It set up easily, the cable worked using a Multi-Use Power Hub. One of the reasons I bought it was that TurboTax used a CD (2023 and earlier). Also a lot of pictures and videos are still on CD and I am too lazy and too cheap to upload them to the cloud.

This helped me download all my previously purchased programs onto my new desktop. It works great and was easy to setup. It is a little noisier than a built in disk drive. It is very light.

I needed an external drive and this was perfect for what I needed it to do. It's good for CDs and playing games. It's plug and Play. You don't have to install any bloatware or anything. If your computer doesn't have a DVD drive, it's a good addition. The price was too good to pass up.

I've owned Dell products for years, but my new computer dosen't have a DVD/CD option. I'm a little old school and have a lot of data on DVDs. This drive is plug and play, no hassles. Works great and was affordable.

Great little DVD/CD writer. Excellent price. Most tower systems are no longer having a spot for internal DVD writers, but this thing is perfect to keep nearby your tower

This is a well priced external DVD/ RW Drive. It's very lightweight and slim so easily portable. I purchased this item as my new laptop did not have a DVD drive and it functioned perfectly.
