I recently replaced my desktop pc with the cute little Dell Optiplex and had no disc drives, only usb and usb-c. This small DVD usb drive is perfect and comes in handy.

I bought this almost 15 months ago and it is still working perfectly. No issues with the performance as I'm using it very regularly. Compatible with HP Docking station as well.

Immediately was told I needed to upgrade to newer version, OK. After I upgraded I tried to burn video files to a DVD, was told in a pop up window that this feature requires that I purchase an additional feature upgrade for $39.99 What's the point of buyer the DVD ripper if it does not include the appropriate software, its a RIPOFF!. This player is very limited to what it can do without the additional software, IE; play cd's copy files to disc. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS DISC DRIVE

After reviewing the info on available drives, I chose this one as a reasonably priced option for what I needed. It is lightweight & feels somewhat flimsy. However, despite being a little noisy and apparently freezing during one of my first attempts, the drive settled down & did it's job. It doesn't feel like a high end product but then it doesn't have a high end cost either. All in all, it did what I needed it to do without too much coaxing. A safe bet for moving already owned software to new systems that don't have a dvd/cd drive built in.

Quality is good as expected from Dell product. Watched a couple of DVD movies on my laptop and worked flawlessly. In a true sense, it is plug-and-play. The box contains a DVD containing software for writing DVD. But Haven't written any DVD yet. Very pleased with the purchase and product and service by Best Buy.

It's good for CDs and playing games. It's plug and Play. You don't have to install any bloatware or anything. If your computer doesn't have a DVD drive, it's a good addition. The price was too good to pass up.

I own an older external DVD drive but it's much bigger, it's very noisy and it requires its own power source. This was literally plug and play -- just plugged into a USB port and I was able to install some older software that I wanted on this new pc. It's thin so it fits right under my pc -- I leave it plugged in all the time. It's much quieter and faster than my old DVD drive. This is almost as good as having a built-in DVD drive.
