Customers are saying
Customers express satisfaction with the G15 gaming laptop's performance, graphics, cooling system, and build quality. Many appreciate the smooth visuals from the high refresh rate display and the good value for the price. However, some users point out that the laptop is heavy and has a smaller-than-ideal trackpad, while others mention the need for a RAM upgrade and less-than-stellar battery life. The large power brick is also a recurring point of feedback.

Easy to upgrade- Good choice
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With a few upgrades, this is a great little machine. The design of the laptop allows for easy upgrading to RAM and hard drive. I've upgraded to 64GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD drive for under $300 extra and still saved about $400-$700 on purchasing a laptop with similar specs.

Great powerful mid level gaming rig
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Dell G15 5530 gaming laptop is a solid contender in the mid-range gaming laptop market, offering a balance of performance, display quality, and storage capacity. It has a respectable 15” FHD 120Hz screen, an updated 13th Gen Intel i7 core CPU teamed with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 6GB DDR6 GPU, sufficient starter storage with one 1TB SSD, and a bit limiting 8GB of Ram memory, but is future proofed with DDR5 4800mhz. It has the specs to deliver a satisfying gaming experience on a budget, with the ability to upgrade easily to a dynamic gaming experience with a second DDR5 slot and M.2 pcie. I’m not sure why Dell prepackaged this G15 with an i7 Intel processor and RTX 4050 with only 8GB of RAM??? It’s almost a tease of power, but with prices dropping, and the ease of serviceability of this laptop, it is worth the entry price of a decent 1080p gaming rig. I want to give it a 5-star rating, but can’t due to Dell skimping on an extra stick of Ram, because of that, this gets a 4.5. The Dell G15 5530 keeps its design that's typical of Dell's G15 gaming laptop lineup. It features a sturdy build with a matte black finish, orange accents, and orange-backlit keyboard. The laptop feels solid and well-constructed, making it suitable for both gaming and everyday use. It is, however, a bit heavy for a laptop with a massive 330-watt ac power adapter. So, this is not going to be very conducive to portability. But with the power hungry i7 Intel processor with a base speed of 4.9 ghz, 14 cores, and the impressive RTX 4050, I can understand the need for the power supply. Not to forget the 6-cell lithium-ion battery. Yes, this laptop eats through battery life if not plugged in, so do not expect you will get more than 3-4 hours of play on battery. The 120Hz display provides smooth gaming visuals, reducing motion blur and making fast-paced games more enjoyable. The 15.6-inch screen size is a good size to provide a level of immersive gaming. Some might have preferred a higher refresh rate, especially for competitive gaming, but this G15 is an entry level “gaming” laptop and will be more than sufficient for any casual gamer or creator. With an Intel i7 CPU and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 GPU, the Dell G15 5530 delivers commendable gaming performance. It can handle modern games at 1080p resolution with ease, offering good frame rates and graphics quality. I can get an average of 60fps – 120fps on high for some games and must take it down to medium settings on graphic intensive games. The inclusion of a 1TB SSD ensures quick load times and snappy system responsiveness, which is crucial for a gaming laptop. And with 1TB, you have plenty of storage for a few big games stored on the device. There is a second slot to add another SSD if you really want to up the storage. You can control your game performance and settings with the included Alienware software to overclock the CPU. Advantage of having the 13th Gen i7 Intel, but without the addition of other essentials, it doesn’t pay to adjust these settings until you add the additional Ram. As I stated in the beginning, the 8GB of RAM may be a bit limiting, especially for multitasking or running memory-intensive applications alongside games. An upgrade to 16GB would be advisable for a smoother overall experience and I plan on upgrading to at least 16GB and maybe even 32GB as soon as possible. I’m sure the performance of this G15 will be phenomenal on a quick and inexpensive upgrade. The serviceability of this laptop makes it an easy upgrade and should be considered due to the reasonably priced ram on the market now. Now to the basics, the keyboard is comfortable for typing and gaming, with responsive keys and an orange back lighting. The touchpad is precise and works well for everyday tasks, although most gamers would likely prefer an external gaming mouse for gaming sessions. The laptop offers a good selection of ports, including USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, and an Ethernet port. It also supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 for fast wireless connectivity. The laptop's cooling system does a decent job of keeping temperatures in check and doesn’t get loud at all. In conclusion, the Dell G15 5530 gaming laptop offers a good balance of performance and affordability. It's a capable machine for gamers who want to enjoy their favorite titles without breaking the bank. However, consider upgrading the RAM for a smoother multitasking experience, and be aware of the limited battery life during gaming. Overall, it's a solid choice for mid-range gaming enthusiasts.

Great Gaming Laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After thoroughly testing and exploring the capabilities of the Dell G15 5530 Gaming Laptop, I have gained a very high respect for the newer Dell gaming laptops, especially after dealing with many issues in the past on previous laptops reviewed. Starting with the positives, the overall design of the Dell G15 is visually appealing, and is not an eyesore to look at. It has many high speed USB ports, along with a HDMI port in the back for direct video projection, that provide the user with many ways to attach accessories to their machine. Although heavy, the laptop does not feel cheap to hold, and the plastics used are higher quality than your typical gaming laptop. The finish on the plastic feels similar to a matte material, which is comfortable and works well with the overall design. Heading into the usage of the laptop itself, the processor and graphics card contained within the G15 are both powerful and stable, providing high frames on nearly every game I could throw at it. After testing Doom Eternal with maxed out graphics settings, I can confidently say that this laptop is able to consistently provide 120fps (the hard limit on the display) while being put under heavy load. The display is responsive and shows a wide range of colors, providing amazing video and image clarity during daily use. The battery life is sufficient, although limited, while playing games, and allows for multiple hours of usage when being used for video playback, schoolwork, and any other task that isn't graphic intensive. Tweaking some of the settings and messing with Alienware Command Center, an app utilized by Dell gaming systems to monitor and change performance, helped to increase the base battery life while doing regular tasks to well over six hours, an impressive feat for a gaming laptop in the current day and age. The keyboard types beautifully, and has a visually appealing red-orange backlight that can be switched on and off depending on the user's preferences. Charging through the use of the 330w power brick that was provided with the laptop allows for extremely fast recharge speeds, and allows for games to be run at high graphics without the risk of losing power. However, there are some downsides that negatively affected my experience with the laptop, although very slightly. The built-in webcam, very much like all other gaming laptops, provides very poor visual quality, and shows a lot of static while viewing the camera app or other camera-related software that may impede on the quality of meetings or video recordings, like most YouTubers rely on. The default amount of RAM provided with this system is DDR5 8GB, which is lower than the standard 16GB on most other gaming laptops, which is disappointing considering the restrictions low RAM brings to users that rely on high amounts of RAM for video games and video editing in general. Another issue with the laptop is the heaviness and thickness, making travel with this laptop difficult without a specific bag or pocket in your backpack. The power brick, being 330w, is massive and takes up a huge chunk of space while traveling. The battery life, although fairly decent, did require setting tweaks that the average consumer may not understand, and causes a majority of battery life to be locked behind features many may never access. The backlight on the keyboard is also locked to the single color, and can only be replaced if you swap out the entire keyboard unit in favor of one with RGB capabilities, otherwise red-orange is the only thing usable. The bezels on the screen are also noticeable, and cutting back on the overall size of the screen definitely makes it more apparent than not. Overall, much of my experience with this laptop has been heavily positive, but some things could definitely be worked on in the future, such as the awful camera system needing a complete overhaul, and the battery life and size not being adequate on a clean installation of Windows. This product deserves 4.5/5 stars, but adjustments to the aforementioned issues would push the device to a 5 in terms of gaming and daily use!

Great gaming lab too!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Actually works better than I thought. I was a little skeptical at first since it was Dell for a gaming computer, however it has exceeded my expectations. The built in fans are amazing and are actually quite.

Good bang for your buck
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With upgraded RAM to 16 GB and an added another 1 TB hard drive, this computer works great. Like other reviews said the charger is very big but not a concern for me. Would have liked another HDMI port but with an aftermarket dock this works just fine for my dual-screen setup.
