Semi-Good Gaming Laptop with short life expectancy

I had purchased this computer back in September 2022 and it’s now May, so about 9 months and I had upgraded the computer to 32 gb ram which is the maximum it can go and 1 tb of storage. So I’ve invested a lot because I was planning on using it until I moved out of my house in a year or so. However, the computer is already starting to break down and I have taken it to the computer repair shop at least 3 times. In order to play games you need to constantly have keep it plugged in order to have the optimum performance, but in exchange it leads to poor battery life which is not good. I had purchased a cool pad due to the fans not working well and causing the laptop to overheat, but it still doesn’t help because the computer heats up very quickly and I can hardly play games like Vanilla Minecraft on the lowest graphic setting without it overheating. The charger doesn’t fit completely inside, poor model design (In the picture, it’s hard to tell, but I am pushing the charger and that’s as far as it goes). As well as a slow start up since purchase. Everything I’m stating is unbiased because I genuinely think this laptop in terms of performance is great and I’m actually really sad that my laptop is barely surviving only after 9 months. I wish this laptop could’ve been better in terms of quality of life I would’ve saved a lot of money because it’s a very cheap laptop despite being able to perform pretty nicely on games and I would’ve easily recommend it for someone whose purchasing their first gaming laptop. Overall, this laptop is very high maintenance and requires a lot of modifications and I wouldn’t recommend it for people new to laptops or anyone at all purely because the amount of effort needed to keep it lasting longer.

      a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
      b) If running Cortana, type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
      c) Turn the Battery Saver On or Off.
      d) Additional settings are available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.

From the moment I laid eyes on the Dell G15 gaming laptop, I knew I was in for a treat. Sturdy Build Like No Other: The first thing that captivated my attention was the build quality. In a market awash with plastic, flimsy laptops that feel they might break at the slightest pressure, the G15 stands out like a beacon of durability. Its chassis feels robust and reassuring, with a tactile quality that speaks volumes about Dell's commitment to excellence. The aesthetic design, while catering to the contemporary gamer, does not scream 'gaming laptop,' making it apt for both professional settings and intense gaming sessions. Unprecedented Graphics Performance: Now, let's dive into the soul of this machine – the graphics. The 120Hz FHD display is nothing short of breathtaking. Games come alive, bursting with vivid colors and intricate details, making the gameplay feel immersive like never before. The fast refresh rate ensures buttery-smooth transitions, effectively eliminating any ghosting or lags. This isn't just a screen; it's a window to other worlds. Battery Life That Keeps You Going: A powerhouse machine is of no use if it can't sustain itself, and this is where the G15 truly outshines many of its competitors. The battery life is nothing short of impressive. Whether I was gaming, streaming, or multitasking between various intensive applications, the G15 stood by me, making the constant hunt for a charger a thing of the past. In conclusion, the Dell - G15 15.6" FHD 120Hz Gaming Laptop is not just another laptop; it's a testament to what happens when impeccable build quality meets cutting-edge technology. It's evident that Dell has not only listened to its user base but has gone above and beyond to deliver a machine that stands tall in both form and function. If you're in the market for a reliable, fast, and enduring gaming laptop, your search might very well end here. Highly recommended!

This computer is wonderful! I'm finally able to play my games at a wonderful speed. Even the largest games like Call of Duty: Black Ops III run smoothly. The only drawback I'd say I have would be that this laptop doesn't hold the best charge, but being a laptop meant for games, I'd say that's to be expected. If you plan on playing large games, definitely have your charger close by. Overall, a wonderful computer that can play some wonderful games!

Use it strictly for Gaming and it’s amazing! Now I also do my resumé but it’s 98% of the time used for gaming and it does not let me down! Amazing graphics, fast loading I play The Sims and have a TON of mods and it keeps up I recommend it to anyone looking for good quality but not a crazy price!

The first thing I noticed about this laptop while unboxing it was how heavy it is. I carry a 2-in-1 for work every day, so the weight difference is noticeable. I often carry a 14" which feels much lighter as well. Let me dive in... THE GOOD ~ 120hz ~ RTX 3050 video card ~ 802.11AX (wifi) ~ 1 USB-C port ~ 3 USB 3.2 (Type A) ~ SSD Drive ~ Backlit Keyboard ~ Front facing camera ~ Good colors ~ Almost zero banding THE BAD ~ Heavy ~ The power cord block is massive ~ Not 120Hz all the time THE MEH (Could go either way) ~ Heavy ~ 512GB SSD ~ Power Cord massive ~ Proprietary power ~ No Display Port output ~ Only 1 HDMI ~ Color of laptop ~ AMD Ryzen 5 ~ RTX 3050 video card OVERALL Although it's made from plastic, this thing feels far heavier than it looks. It's 5.5 pounds and feels like a brick in your hand. I'm not sure how I feel about the speckles in the gray, but the overall design looks good. The backlit keyboard is very nice and the color of light against the keys is eye-pleasing. With three USB 3.2 ports, there is enough to hook up a mouse, a headset and an external drive or charge a phone. It also has a USB-C. (As a gaming laptop, a wired mouse is probably a must. It is for me and the games I play.) After unboxing the Dell G15, I updated everything as required by Windows. Although it's a 512GB drive, only 456GB exists after partitioning. Of that, only 377GB is actually usable. It isn't Dell's fault Microsoft takes up so much space, but I wonder why any company uses such a small drive. Once updated and fully charged, I grabbed an extra USB mouse, set the laptop up on my table and downloaded World of Tanks (298GB left now). The game was absolutely unplayable. I was getting 29-30 frames per second. I tried lowering the setting a couple of times and got the same awful performance at the lowest settings. Then I wondered... I plugged in the power and my FPS shot up. I was able to put the game on max settings with a 120Hz refresh rate and pulled the full 120. (The game said between 120-135fps). So, if you're going to use this for graphic gaming, a first person shooter or such, make sure the power is plugged in or go into the power settings and change the "On Battery" settings to max performance. I'm used to playing on a 27" 2K at 240Hz, so playing on a 15.6" 1080p monitor was a bit challenging, but it's definitely playable. For the most part, the graphics look very good. I had to go into the in-game settings and change them some because the laptop rendered everything darker than I am used to. There were zero issues with tearing or lag. Everything was smooth and crisp. Although I said inside the game, it seemed dark, outside the game the colors are very bright and vibrant. They look very good. The blacks are very black and there was almost no banding in the videos and such I ran. So, overall, it's a positive experience. Despite that, there are some drawbacks or things that might prevent others from purchasing this. The brick on the power cord is massive. It is literally almost as large as your average house brick. I'll post a picture so you can see it. The 512GB SSD seems small by todays standards. As I commented earlier, of the 512, after Windows took its share, there is only 377GB left. If you plan to do a lot of graphic work or videos, I'd suggest getting an external drive to save everything. The CPU is very good. I have both AMD and Intel CPUs in my desktops. The Ryzen 5 series is typically considered a gaming CPU. 8GB of RAM is ample. More is almost always better, but 8 is a bare minimum these days. I didn't look to see if it's expandable, but it's DDR5 at 4800Mhz. It will handle most daily tasks. It may be a little small for large video editing, but it will work. The RTX 3050 card is decent. It has 4GB graphics memory and should play most games smoothly. If you're a pro, you probably want a larger, better card. THE IMPORTANT QUESTION Would I recommend this to someone? I would. For the price, it's a decent build. I still think it should come with 1TB SSD for the price, but other than that, it's a good value. For an average computer user (work, YouTube, surfing, etc), this laptop should last you well into the future. For a college student who needs to do papers and wants to game sometimes with a portable computer, this would probably be a good fit. As I pointed out, it's a little heavy, but it feels sturdy as can be. I would actually give this 4.5 out of 5 stars for the smaller SSD, weight, and massive power block.

I absolutely think this is one of the best computers I’ve bought. It does everything I need and then some and having an orange light up keyboard is definitely an added bonus. I would highly recommend for anyone bc it’s so easy to use, gives you all the storage and power you’ll ever need!

I LOVE this machine! It's heavier than what I'm used to but that's not a bad thing because the weight of it makes me feel better that if I were to accidentally drop it then it probably would not effect the internal components! Its rugged design also shows how strong the case is!
