Bought this one for my sister. She is going in school to be architect, by her words this is excellent laptop for this purpose due to great RAM and graphics. She can run multiple demanding programs at once. Only down side is its weight.

    A budget high-performing gaming laptop-With quirks

The Dell G15 is a budget gaming laptop that boasts top-tier hardware and a great design. Paired with the Ryzen 5 7640HS and the capable but budget-friendly RTX 3050 in a gaming-themed design, it is a performance powerhouse in a semi-light portable package. DESIGN This arrives in a dark gray with a red/orange accent ranging from the grills, key legends, and logo. The grills make up a large portion of the rear side of the body, covering the rear, side near the hinge, the front side at an angle, and across the top along the length of the keyboard, which actually houses the speakers. The edges are chizzled in many areas, with a unique pattern not found in everyday machines. While this gives it a solid gaming-like look, it's all housed in a fairly generic and average-looking plastic shell. This plastic seems to be vulnerable to fingerprints and hand oils. Even though I try to care for many electronics, just simply handling it, moving it from a desk to a couch, and vice versa, has stained it significantly. The odd port placement makes using them awkward. I can only get behind the placement of the berrel jack on the back, but HDMI, USB A and C seem odd. BUILD I'm not really a fan of this area. It's heavy and not as sturdy as I would have hoped. Picking it up from the base and lid gives it a flexing feel. Open it up to reveal the keyboard, and a press of the keys leaves something to be desired with a very plasticy feel. The keys are illuminated by a pastel red-like under-lying glow and a permanently outlined WASD keys. PERFORMANCE This is where it truly shines. The G15's powerful AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS processor, combined with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 GPU, provides a great balance between gaming and productivity tasks. It offers smooth gameplay and powerful rendering capabilities in nearly any modern game or demanding software. Add the 15.6" vibrant screen and 120Hz refresh rate for a fantastic combination. Running games from Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Armored Core IV, Ashes of the Singularity, Starfield, and Genshin Impact have all run at high or ultra settings with high FPS. The exceptions here are Ashes of the Singularity with a fairly tame FPS of about 40 and Starfield on low settings, averaging 30 FPS at 1080p and artifacting being present. This game likely needs 720p at low. Battery life isn't the best; some may even call it laughable. I got about 3 hours, maybe shy of that, while gaming. With more modest use, it's achieved about 5 hours. ISSUES/QUIRKS This touchpad works fine for browsing the web and navigating the UI, but it becomes unresponsive to any games if you're pressing any keys on the keyboard. While this isn't ideal for many, if any games at all, this is fairly annoying. The built-in camera is so-so, good enough for a Zoom meeting, but it isn't recognized by Windows Hello for keyless access to your machine. Including the "Home" edition makes it ineligible for certain Windows features that are reserved for other editions. While this might be a Windows-related misfunction, seeing as this is the first time it is occurring makes me point at the system. Oddly, this system self-activated Bitlocker and locked me out until I dug around my account for the Bitlocker key. To the best of my knowledge, this has always been an Education, Pro, and Enterprise feature, not Home. Upon first trying to run a game, immediately after setup, logging in, and downloading a marketplace for games, I noticed fairly sluggish performance. After digging around, I realized the IGPU was taking the lead. In my experience, the system has always been able to decide what to use on its own. From my digging, I realized there wasn't any AMD software installed, just drivers. Downloading and changing settings fixed that; some, if not all, of my screenshots include an overlay with both GPU devices for this reason. This gets very loud when gaming. Overall, the Dell G15 is a powerful contender in the budget gaming bracket. Suitable for both gamers and creative individuals looking for a portable option. While it doesn't have the sturdiest build in a budget laptop, it makes up for its shortcomings with its great aesthetics and powerful capabilities. This is worth 4-stars.

So I was looking for a laptop for my and my boyfriend to share in the rotating weekends and this one caught my eye. The moment I took it out of the box and then started to load it, Windows 11 was pre-installed and it was horrible. It would freeze every 5 minutes with the bloatware that was installed, but even after I scrubbed it clean of most of those programs, it still would freeze completely for about a minute. I tried repairing the OS, and I ran a ton of scans and nothing came up as inherently wrong, however as soon as I dual-installed Windows 10 to see if it would be better, sure enough the freezing went away. So I got what I needed from the original partition with W11 on it and copied over to the W10 partition, and scrubbed W11 off of it. Of course Microsoft continues to tell me the laptop is W11 compatible, but I will never be installing W11. It’s a piece of garbage re-skin of W10 with a few bells and whistles that I don’t even need, so no skin off my bones. I just wish companies like Dell wouldn’t load up the laptops with bloatware. Some of the stuff is needed, like the AMD command center software, and a few others, but I don’t need Alienware when this isn’t an Alienware PC, and even if it’s based off an Alienware model, it’s clearly not. I’m not even sure what the true cause of Windows 11 being a pain my first week of having it; I was tempted to take it back, but I knew if I got an even better laptop, it would also come per-loaded with W11, so I bit the bullet and took matters into my own hands, and now it runs like a charm. It was such a pain, but now it’s running smoothly, and everything is optimized and working great. Definitely a good ‘gaming’ laptop but unless it was just mine; remove Windows 11 immediately; save yourself the headache!

      Hello LevinSnakesRise,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your Dell G15 gaming laptop. We are sorry to hear that you are not happy with the bloatware on your device. Below I have provided steps for removing unwanted programs. We have noted the details of your statement and will use them to improve current and future products.
Uninstalling or removing software or applications that you do not use or do not need from your PC can help speed up your PC. Applications may include background processes, system services, context menu entries and other things that can slow down your PC.

Uninstall applications you no longer need using Programs and Features (previously called Add/Remove Programs). Unnecessary applications occupy space on your hard disk drive.

      1. Press the Windows logo key + R on the keyboard.
      2. In the Run dialog box, type appwiz.cpl and press the Enter key.
      3. In the list, select a program and click Uninstall.

Decent gaming laptop for the money

I was very excited to try the new Dell G15 gaming laptop. I've had and have many gaming and PC products from Dell and have enjoyed most of them for what they are, whether it's a utility desktop, gaming desktop, gaming PC or even monitor, Dell produces quality products. That's why when I started testing this laptop I've, unfortunately, been largely disappointed for reasons I will get into further into this review. First, out of the box, this is an impressive looking laptop. It looks like it would hold up to construction work, frankly. It's got a unique, rigid case that feels very durable. It's also very heavy, even for a gaming laptop. The power brick is very large as well (common in gaming laptops. of course, but still if you're going to travel to play games you WILL want this with you). The ports are a decent array, with the HDMI-out in a great location in the back, along with a standard USB and USB-C port. The power port is in the back as well, which is unique and a design I prefer (I've had to replace several laptop cords over the years that plug in on the side, due to the bends in the cord that are a by-product of that design) but your mileage may vary, as it does require more free space than normal for a laptop behind the case. There are also 2 USB ports on the side for peripheral plug in. The left side has an ethernet port plug in--which is a strange choice, but I assume things like that are due to the restrictions of the design. It's nice to have as ethernet connections definitely allow for better online gaming. There is also a headphone jack located on the left side as well. Unfortunately I ran into issues early with set up. Once the computer was powered up it started no problem. Dell makes it very easy to register their products at set up, which is a great bonus and, it turns out, HUGELY important to do while setting up, as you could run into big issues later should you opt not to do this. For being right out of the box there were a lot of updates required. This is to be expected, to a degree....just not usually to this degree. The most frustrating of these updates was to the Dell bios system. The BIOS updates, I discovered, require your 'windows encryption key' which (I believe) you only get access to after registering your computer. I'd have been pretty upset if I'd skipped that step then gotten locked out of the PC. As it is, it was still a hassle to have to find the VERY LONG key and enter it both times the bios firmware had to be updated. I was at least glad to have another laptop on the trip--I could have locked up the key from my phone, but it's a very long code and it would have have been easy. Very frustrating to have this happen with no warning (there's no real manual to speak of, but even including that information--how important it is to register right away and get access to the key, and to even copy it down would have been great). After starting I put it through the usual laptop things-websurfing, watching TV and a full movie, and even using the HDMI out to an 80" TV to watch, and all worked very well. The picture quality was fantastic, even though it was streaming over a wifi signal (albeit a strong signal). The HD looked great! I discovered a drawback while going through installation of the games I wanted to play--the fans on this are very loud. Louder than any other gaming PC I've used. Loud enough you'll want headphones if trying to watch a movie through the standard-for-a-laptop speakers. The same with game playing once the fan kicks on. It may be the placement venting behind rather than below that makes the fans so much more noticeable on this model. The specs are decent, but with any gaming pc you're always limited by the weakest part of the system. Unfortunately for a gaming PC you really don't want it to be either your processor or the video card, and those are the two biggest limiting factor with this laptop. While they are both decent components from AMD, their specs are such that they're limited on the latest games and can't really play them well at high settings. If that's not a big deal for you then I'm happy to report it will play current games on the medium settings just fine. Baldur's Gate 3 stutters at the highest settings, but will play decently well on the lowest settings. Diablo IV runs better (but isn't quite as hard on a PC as BG 3). Cyberpunk plays well on it, too, but again it won't run the graphics turned all the way up unless you want a slide show. On the plus side, the 1TB on board SSD should last a while and is big enough to hold a few of the newest games from the past few years. It also boots both the PC and games up very fast. For the price it's okay and you could certainly do worse. With costs up considerably on PC components this is a decent answer if you need a gaming laptop that will play the latest games without breaking the bank. If you don't mind spending a little more, there are beefier options from Dell (and others) that will last you longer into the future, whereas this one will likely be limited on newer games in just a couple of years, probably sooner.

Laptop computer is astonishingly powerful. I have experienced minimal issues, at best, even when playing games like Baldur's Gate III or Dark Alliance. I feel like this would be marvellous for newer PC gamers, as well as mid-range ones like myself who like to buy more affordable devices. The integrated, backlit keyboard is very practical, the ports are in sensible places, and everything is just so well-designed it's absurd! I haven't got a single complaint about that, outside of the corners being very angular, but I doubt they'll hurt anyone. This computer also has great cooling capabilities, to my experience, so if you prefer to use integrated keyboards on your laptops, you won't be burned when the computer starts to run hot. All-in-all, this laptop computer is an amazing and affordable product, and I highly recommend it to any gamer.

A Good Laptop for Play and Work

When I received the Dell G15 Model i5535 with an AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS CPU that has 6 cores and 12 threads @ 4.3 -5.0 GHz and an AMD Radeon Graphics on chip with 8 cores running @ 2600 Mhz, along with a discrete NVIDIA RTX 3050 GPU Chip that has 6GB of GDDR6 graphics ram and runs 2560 CUDA Cores @ 1.24 - 1.49 GHz and a 96 Bit @ 12000 MHz Memory Bus, I was a bit confused as to which GPU was running. The installed MyDell application showed only the Radeon Graphics in its System view. The installed Win11 x64 bit Home OS Settings / System / Device Manager showed both GPUs installed. Processes were loaded for each GPU. Then I found the NVIDIA Control Panel application. In it I found that you can set up the system to run both the AMD Radeon and the NVIDIA GPUs and utilize the CPU and 16 GB of DDR5 RAM @ 4800 MHz system RAM as needed to meet all your graphics needs. What a great idea! And the software makes up for what either GPU lacks, which I found in my tests to use the G15 for gaming and editing video. The GPUs do a good job driving the 1080p 120Hz Refresh 15.6" 1920 x 1080 LED display at 250 NITS brightness and it is very sufficient for the types of gaming, photo editing and video editing that I do. I like that the G15 is setup for both work and play, with a numeric keypad, a large touchpad, a camera and microphone, a lighted keyboard, and a fast 1 TB SSD. I am satisfied with the 2.1 HDMI port, the (3) USB Type A 3.2 ports, the (1) USB C 3.2 port, and the RJ45 Ethernet port. It has all the current standards of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 6 / AX 802.11 and Gigabit 10/100/1000 Ethernet. I also like that you can expand the 16GB RAM to 32GB. All in all, this is a solid laptop that will serve the moderate gamer and worker at a moderate price point. I would recommend this Dell G15 15.6" Gaming Laptop to a friend or family member who has these needs.

solid computer, great holiday gift. cord started breaking away at the light almost exactly 30 days after purchase, which is disappointing, but it still charges fine. great for gaming low-intensity games (no idea about games like overwatch, im more of a point-and-click style gamer lol, but minecraft runs great!) The computer is decently heavy compared to the earlier model and an hp, non-gaming laptop, but that isnt an issue for me, just something to keep in mind before purchasing.

Honestly, I got this laptop on sale for cheap and I was really excited. However, even with the specs that it claims it had it just seemed to still be slow. Also, I know this is a gaming laptop and so it’s bulky and the battery isn’t the best. I just think I didn’t realize how absolutely bulky it was going to be or how bad the battery life truly was. I’m a college student/gamer so I figured this was the perfect mix, being able to use this at school for simple stuff and well as be able to play some games. But I started to realize the performance of the computer was getting worse, ended up having a hard time running slime rancher or even Minecraft. Over all I would say maybe I got a bad batch and it’s better for some people but I wouldn’t say it was worth the price so I returned it and got something better!

Got this on black friday and for what it is i thoroughly enjoy using it. The screen is meh, but it can handle playing things like cyberpunk and hogwarts legacy. I use it attached to two monitors. When I need to lug it around its battery lasts long enough doing excel and the web. The 10 key is useful for shortcuts in editing apps and for spreedsheets

This laptop was absolutely amazing. I expected it to be awful from what I’ve heard from friends and family about gaming laptops. But this was amazing. Everything ran well and stayed cool. I never changed any of the settings and it ran forza 5 at 90fps on battery and 130 plugged in with ultra high settings. Also handled my vms really well. But the con was its weight and thickness. Also the trackpad is really small. I recommend you try it out in store before getting it, if you’re trying to daily drive it for work/school.

Laptop works well, and with its specs, can be used for both gaming and working at home. The internal storage is a little on the small side for hardcore gaming, but is perfect for casuals. Pages load quickly in your browser, and the audio drivers provide a much better experience than anything I've ever used.
