Best bang for your buck gaming laptop

Runs a little hot but i use a cooling pad on it to keep temps in the high 60s to low 70s. Be warned without the cooling pad this thing would litterally get so hot it would shut itself off after several hours of hard gaming. But for the price you can't beat the performance of it!

It runs hot if you play for longer period of time and fans are noticable loud. Note: the laptop is not bad for mining... Dell please stop put trash software on your laptops!!!

Great Laptop

Installed RE3 and Serious Sam 4 as soon as I got it and they ran fine on high settings. VR also looks good on it. Going to upgrade the ram and ssd since it was cheaper to buy the parts than purchase the upgraded version.

I was told by the associate that the AMD Ryzen 5 is the equivalent of an intel I5 processor. The PC is fast and the design is great, the keypad is soft and elegant.

I gave this to my 16 year old son for school and to have a little fun with it too. I has all the needed capabilities to get him through his Junior year of Distance Learning and does just enough to let him play all the latest games online.

Runs a little warm but that expected with a gaming laptop. The ram and ssd is upgradable.

Best Buy did not do the best job restoring this to factory settings. I did a quick Windows Reset and it runs like a dream.

I also replaced the ram with one 16gm ddr4 hyper x. way better than their 2 x 4gb ddr4 samsung, junk ram. I knew what i was getting with thier 60hz monitor. i hope the gpu is as good as i hope it is. I also had to download software that they do not educate their customers on. their employees have very basic knowledge. they would rather have 20 ok employees, cute. than 10 smart ones.

It is a set of tools that will clean junk files, install system updates and drivers, diagnose hardware and software, and optimize your system performance, and network all with the press of a button. 1. Restart your computer regularly
2. Run the automated tools provided in the SupportAssist tool
3. Run a complete hardware diagnostic test
4. Scan your computer for malware
5. Restore your Dell computer using Windows System Restore
6. Reinstall Microsoft Windows

We want to thank you for taking the time to leave us your review. We sincerely apologize for the overheating problem you are having with your Dell G5. Below, I have provided some tips to help resolve the overheating issue, along with a link to the full article, should you need further information. We do recommend making sure your BIOS is up to date on your PC. I have provided a link to the Drivers and Downloads page for your system so you can check for and do any applicable updates. I have also given you a link to help maximize the gaming performance of your G5.
Tips for Proper Usage:
1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat, and can cause permanent damage.
3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

Love this computer

She started off with an IPad but had to many unresolved issues. When I went to look for a computer Bestbuy hardly had anything on the shelf due to the demand. I have owned many Dells over the years and after reading the reviews I chose the G-5. For schooling it has a bright screen, illuminated keyboard, fast response time, and I haven’t had any issues. After the first day I did buy a laptop cooling pad but that’s it. Fantastic unit and I would recommend it.
