This computer is great for college students attending online classes. It also supports Adobe cloud programming for art design students. The hinges allow for easy access for sketching and not taking. As well the magnetic charging station for the stylist pen, prevents you from misplacing. Another Awesome feature is a sliding little screen to cover the camera while not in use. The camera recognition allows access of your face to unlock the screen. It well only open to the owner of the laptop. Legit, tried testing it with friends. If this isn’t a feature you agree with there is an access code as well. The quality of the pixels are HD. Again highly recommend this computer for designers. It’s simple, lightweight, has touchscreen features, and hold quality battery life.

I'm a software developer and I was looking for a laptop which was 1) small sized 2) powerful and 3) in a student's budget. I came across this laptop deal on BestBuy and the specs were unbelievable for something in this price. And to top it off, it arrived the very next day from when I ordered it! So far, it has served very well, I'm really enjoying my experience with this laptop.
Pros: CPU's very powerful and fast, large RAM, display's brilliant, the 2 in 1 feature is really convenient, fingerprint sensor makes logging into system very quick, budget, touch screen can help a lot in design and development, the machine's just so small, slim and light-weight, you can have a powerful workstation on-the-go
Cons: battery area heats up very quickly when used while charging (and it gets uncomfortably hot, I recommend using it on a desk/surface while charging), dual screen feature is sticky, I'm having trouble with my second desktop connected via HDMI, only one USB 3.0 port (would've preferred one more conventional USB port), Intel UHD graphics card, not dedicated card (but I guess you get what you pay for!)
I would've definitely given it 5 stars but I had an issue with my product. You get an Dell Active Pen with this laptop which is like a stylus with extra buttons on it. When I was setting up my laptop, I followed the instructions but even two days after using it regularly, the stylus didn't work. If you're buying the laptop for that feature, I'd recommend checking the Pen immediately when you get it and if it doesn't work, you can have it returned and get a new device

My favorite part of this laptop is the size and weight. It provides a truly convenient and compact option for productivity. The only downside is the single SS port.

So far so good. Bought as a backup to our 2019 xps 13 i7 10th gen that experienced motherboard failure x 2. Dealing with Dell on that one but this device is fully capable of anything our family has thrown at it. Noticeably heavier than the xps but the quality is there. Looks and feels like a premium laptop. Like to see the mix of input methods compared to the xps limited usb c. Only downside was no pen included in our open box spec model which was sold as all accessories included. Lost a star for that.

Used to a bigger laptop, also different brands, but took a chance on this bad boy & it did not disappoint! Also love the smaller screen as opposed to carrying around a huge 15". Worth it!

Brand response from YourDellTeam

Lily,
Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear about the performance of your new computer. Here are some steps that you can try in order to turn your computer back on:
1. If the computer is displaying the Dell logo and does not move past that point, it has probably failed POST. 2. If the power indicator lights up and it is amber or orange, this is usually an indicator that it has failed POST. 3. If you see text on a black screen, the computer is currently performing the POST. If the computer stays in that condition and does not move past it, it has probably failed POST. 4. If the video screen displayed anything at all during the startup process but is now black, this probably indicates that the computer failed POST. 5. If the computer is beeping or if Caps/Num/Scroll Locks are flashing, note if there is a particular pattern in which it beeps or flashes. 6. If the computer is not beeping and caps/num/scroll locks are not flashing, unplug all connections and remove all media communication devices (e.g. external monitors); reconnect one at a time and check if the computer functions. 7. For a notebook, press and hold the Fn key and then press the power button. This starts the pre-boot testing and will launch ePSA. In case you have a Desktop at the Dell logo screen tap the F12 key to enter One Time Boot Menu and use the arrow keys to highlight Diagnostics and press enter.
There were several new driver and software updates released for your computer that you can find here: https://dell.to/2G21dFy. Once your computer is running again we'd recommend installing these new drivers in order to improve your computer's performance.

I bought this for 999.99 on sale with a student deal. That price combined with the specs of i7/16 GB RAM were a selling point for me, as others in this price range are often 12 GB. I also love the pen on this. It fits perfectly into the wedge, out of my way but also convenient when I need it; its rechargeable so I don't have to fuss with batteries, and it recharges automatically when I put it in the dock. I haven't used or longer than an hour or so but its never died on me so far, so the battery life is decent at least. Its also magnetic so it snaps right in and I never have to worry about losing it. Features pressure sensitivity.
The computer itself is pretty good as well. the display is crisp, although it sometimes dims and brightens without me doing anything? Probably a setting I have to turn off, I don't know. I like where the trackpad is placed, the keyboard has a slight texture to it, and the backlighting has 2 brightness levels. The fingerprint scanner is also integrated into the keyboard layout, unlike some other designs that seemed to get in my way. Touchscreen is very responsive.
I knock off a star for 2 reasons. 1, the task manager consistently shows that it runs at 40-50% memory capacity, even with minimal tabs/applications open. This also causes the fans to not so quietly wheeze in the background as it tries to cool down for sometimes 30 minutes. Left side of the keyboard metal, top and bottom, both get pretty warm to the touch. This is mainly concerning to me looking further down the road. 2, it seems to have this *occasional issue where when I open it from a sleeping/idle state (not a shut down state), it pretends my Wi-Fi is out? Like it acts like its connected but no signal is going through. My wifi plan has 2 different bandwidths, a 2g and a 5g, so when this happens I can just flip to the other one quickly, but I know I would find this irritating if I only had 1, and had to forget the network, reconnect, and put my password in every time this happened.
Hope this helps! :)

This computer is absolutely everything I could have dreamed it to be. First off, the battery is amazing. I have been student teaching since I bought this computer and I could make it through a full day (8-3:30) without having to charge it. It is super light weight and portable and can fit on the smallest of desks.
I LOVE the 2-in-1 feature of this computer. As a teacher, my school lacks white boards but the stylus allows me to annotate presentations and PDFs SO EASILY. Again, the size of the computer and the large screen make the tablet mode feel like a natural tablet instead of a 2-in-1 computer.
This is my fifth year of college and I am so sad that I waited this long to upgrade my computer! If you are a soon-to-be college student - GET THIS COMPUTER. Sure, it's not a Mac, but it is so light and portable and can fit on the smallest of lecture hall desks. The battery will last you through a full day of classes and even an all-night study session. Sound and video are great for Zoom calls. The 2-in-1 feature makes taking notes SO EASY (especially with the SmartStylus - it doesn't pick up your hand when you are trying to write on the screen - similar to an Apple Pencil, but with a built-in charging dock).
I could go on and on, but long story - short, this computer is FANTASTIC and you need to have it.

This laptop is absolutely the BEST laptop I have owned in years! It is SUPER FAST, graphics / screen resolution is phenominal, size / portability is perfect, and overall performance is exceptional. I use this for work and home both, however more for work. The ability to flip this into a tablet and use of the pen is cool! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Did I mention the size is perfect for a fully functional PC and portability aspect? Love it!

Purchased this computer for going back to school. I'll be doing a lot of online classes. The convertible aspect of it is was the initial draw. The "garage" for the stylus is a big plus. It charges as well as stores it for use. Resolution between the pen and screen is great. Sports the 10gen i7 processor from Intel. I have found myself downloading Steam and gaming on it as well. The screen resolution is amazing. Laptop charges very fast on the wall charger and have not encountered any heating issues. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars is I wish the battery life was a little bit better. I keep it on eco mode and still would like a little more out of it for long rides and plane flights. Granted, this thing is super thin. It fits in tablet section of my big gaming PC's big bag. Construction is very sturdy, does not have that loose cheap feel that some convertible's tend to end up feeling like. I would recommend this to anyone interested in a convertible PC for travel, school or even for kids doing home schooling. Just stay close to a wall plug.

Great display, battery can be a little better and it tends to get hot on the bottom, the fan goes a little noisy and runs pretty often to keep it cool, over all, I am very happy with it, right size and very light, I will highly recommend this laptop to everyday users, email, movie watching, surfing and some work apps but not for video editing or other CPU hogging programs.

Couple of Improvement ideas

I really love this laptop, it's been very portable and easy to work with. This laptop came with the pen for me and I love it! I only wish the battery life could be better but it makes sense that the 4K Ultra HD touch-screen takes a lot of power and uses the battery up. On the pen I would prefer one of the buttons that is close to the tip to be higher up on the pen. It would work better this way so users don't accidently keep pressing that button just from holding the pen and using it against the screen. I would also prefer to have more than one regular USB port on the side. There is a USB-C port which I am grateful for but doesn't support charging. I forgot my laptop computer when I was gone for a weekend and I thought that the USB-C port would work and just charge a bit slower but it turns out it doesn't charge at all. I had to purchase a universal charger and the one that fit didn't even charge the laptop at all, it would only keep it at 3%. I don't know if that was just the charger itself or the way the laptop was designed that made it difficult to charge. Those are the only things that I could think of that would be an improvement.
TL:DR
Improvement ideas:
1. Better battery for the 4K Ultra HD touch screen or the same laptop without the 4K Ultra HD graphics as an option.
2. The lower pen button to be higher up on the pen to prevent accidental push.
3. More than one regular USB port.
4. The USB-C port charging compatibility.
Overall an excellent laptop.

I was looking for something to replace a basic entry level laptop with something faster and capable for the next 5 years. This not only had the great specs but come from a reliable Dell line. The build quality is excellent and seems durable. I can confirm you can charge via USBC or traditional plugin. It is also compatible with universal docking stations. The screen is fantastic and dynamic for media and long work sessions.
I had to see it in store to confirm the size and port availability. This was one of the main reasons for choosing over the XPS line. The only drawbacks... Battery life is just ok now and we'll see what happens years from now. Also it is surprisingly dense. I expected it to be lighter given its size.
Anyway this will be my primary system for awhile. Good job Dell.

I wanted to love this laptop but there are few things that I just can't brush off. I've had this laptop since September 9, 2020. Cons: First off the battery life is pretty bad. It doesn't last as long as I expected it to. I always make sure to carry the power cord with me because of the battery life. Second, the touch pad gets real laggy. Sometimes it freezes and I have to use the touchscreen. This happens often. Lastly, when I open a new app or a zoom meeting, it kicks me off. Overall I give this laptop 3 stars. Not the best but it does it's job for the most part. I just expected better. Pros: Very nice graphics, and audio sounds pretty good. Although the touch pad lags/freezes at times, it feels amazing (which was one of the reasons I loved it) It's very smooth and has a nice feel to it. The keypads are also pretty nice. Touchscreen works well and comes with the S pen but sometimes when I use the S pen, I have to tap the screen harder than I'd like to.

this is a pretty powerful little PC, equipped with 10 gen I7 its been handling everything i can throw at it which is mostly Zoom for now. Screen resolution is really amazing, i was skeptical about 4K but it just is easier to look at for long periods of time. Super small, super portable. things i don't like is the proprietary charging port (doesn't charge through USB-C like most computers in this price catagory) and the battery life doesn't seem great although in all fairness i have everything turned up. Other than that though i think its a great machine so far.

Main points are in the summary. We bought this for our daughter’s online classes, and so far it’s working great. Lightweight so moving from one room to the next is not an issue. Display is crystal clear and 4K compatible. Includes a pen that we’re not sure what to do with. Deduct one star for battery life, which is just ok and it’s an expensive machine so it better work well
