I returned this laptop 48 hours after i purchased it.
It got so hot it left a mark on my desk.
The 4k display was far worse than my 720 display from the tv in my basement.

CMO83,
Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear about the system freezes that you were experiencing. In the future we'd recommend diagnosing the freezes on your computer with the following steps:
1. Run a Computer Diagnostic. To determine if your computer is experiencing a hardware problem, run the Dell Preboot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics. For information on how to run Diagnostics, and to determine the issue, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2iaiujA. 2. Check Safe Mode for Symptoms. To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below: a) Start the computer. b) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.) c) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter. d) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access. e) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete step 3 to see if you are able to resolve the lockups or freezing. 3. Check for Malware. Malware (Virus, Spyware, etc.) can definitely cause a Windows system to lock up or appear to hang. To check for malware on your system and to ensure that your computer is up to date on security software, visit Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2wWP1zI.
We're sorry to see that you decided to return your computer but we hope that you will consider Dell again in the future.

Fast Laptop - Pen and charger dock are great

Highly recommend.
So why did I give it 3 stars?
Because this is a real review!
Things I like: Small size but not too small. Touch screen easy to get used to. Fast startup, comes with pen and big plus is the pen's seamless recharge dock, speakers are good to me for the size, screen is bright, colorful, 4K very sharp. 16GB ram in 2020 is plenty. Love the MS Whiteboard software with the 2 in 1. This model's Black keyboard white letters much easier for me to see than lesser model's white on silver keys. Battery life seems good - in 2 hours I've gone from 100% to 75% doing normal surfing / typing.
Things I don't like: Screen is a bit too reflective - nuff said. Not enough USB ports, wish it had two regular old size USB ports, the price paid for 13 size. Soldered memory, Cannot someday expand the Ram memory - but 16GB works for me. I wish it had 1TB SSD - unlike the RAM at least the SSD is replaceable, or use cloud storage.
Neutral: 10th generation i7 doesn't seem noticeably better than my work laptop 8th Generation i7 Latitude or my 2018 "old" 8th gen i5 Acer 5. Good full screen hi res videos. Pen is hard to pull out of the dock in laptop mode with one hand, but easy in tablet mode. While 4K is sharp and looks fabulous I need to keep display setting at/above 200% zoom.
Difference between the near "identical spec'd" 7300 and the 7500 aside from price, size, easier on the eyes, and weight: 15 inch can expand the RAM. 15 has 1 more USB port. For me these were not show stoppers, I wanted smaller & lighter - 13 inch worked for me.

Bought this laptop in 2020 and up until this year it worked fine. Now after about 3 years it dies extremely fast and sometimes it decides to not have WiFi at all. Like it doesn’t even come up in the settings. So I don’t recommend it if you want it more than 2 years. Honestly probably not worth it for the over $1000 price

Karthik,
We're sorry to hear about the temperatures that you're experiencing in your new laptop. Here are some recommendations to keep your computer operating at a cooler temperature:
Tips for Proper Usage:
1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue. 2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system. Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage. 3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%. 4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis. 5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance. 6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

I wanted to love this computer. The feel and size were perfect. Came with the usual bloatware but that's typical. I went through two of these. It would get so hot and the fan would get louder than a gaming rig. It also would never shut off. I went through hours of tech support. Turned off the turbo boost. Even had someone come from tech support to replace the fan. The fan ran quieter but never stopped. I returned the first one and exchanged for another 7300, same problem. Went with the hp spectre. haven't had an issue.

I like the computer, I have had now for about 2 weeks. Everything seems ok, just two aspect that I am not satisfied with.
1. The battery life is so short. Even with battery saver, it hardly lasts beyond 3hours after full charge.
The finger print scanner is not working. out of the many times I have tried, it has only scanned successfully twice.
I am re-thinking

Bassey,
Thanks for your review. We're glad to hear that you're enjoying your new computer for the most part. If you'd like to extend the life of your computer's battery, here are some additional tips to consider:
Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon. 2. On the options list, click Power Options. 3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver. b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results. Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs. c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off. d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links. e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage. f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.
We're sorry to hear that your Fingerprint Reader is not working properly, here's a driver update that you can install that will hopefully help:
Updating the Goodix fingerprint sensor driver to 3.10.30.110 or newer will fix the issue.
To download and install the latest driver:
1. Browse to the Dell Drivers & Downloads page: Support Site Drivers Page 2. Ensure you have the correct System Type 3. Select the Operating System 4. Under Category, select Security 5. Locate the latest Goodix Fingerprint Sensor Driver (A04 or newer) 6. Click Download and save the file to your computer 7. Open File Explorer and browse to the location where the downloaded file is saved 8. Double-click the Sensor setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process 9. You will need a system restart to finalize this installation.

Thanks for your review and we're sorry that your computer is not running the way that you hoped it would. We'd recommend updating the BIOS on your computer to help with the fan noise:
An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer. You can also follow up with our Technical Support Team here - 1-800-624-9896.
