Owned for 6 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this laptop for school and I thought this would be a good buy and with all the feature it would be a good fit but unfortunately, I did not get what I paid for. After 6 months of use, I've come to the conclusion that this thing is too expensive for its mediocre performance and quality. Pros: Its a touchscreen and its 360. The finger print log in is nice. With one charge, the battery will last a day and half, the touchpad is nice and sleek. These are the only things that I like, the dislike are too much. Cons: Works fine but the issue is that when held in certain positions it will randomly shut down and close all tabs, basically the laptop will restart. Its weird and frustration when trying to share your screen with someone. Additionally, when I bend the screen just slightly the screen will turn just off. I don't even have to shut the laptop fully for them to do this and it's frustrating! The camera is okay but it is a bulky and heavy laptop.

Well built, but not for performance users.

It seems very solidly built. It seems sturdy, and the keyboard and touch pad are both nice for this price point. The screen is bright with plenty of contrast, and it is a touch screen. The power button doubles as a fingerprint sensor, and it features a USB-A, headphone jack, and SD reader on the right. The left side sports a full-size HDMI and two USB-C ports that both support charging and Display-Port Alternate mode. This means that you can easily use a single cable to dock this laptop to your desktop setup. It can easily drive an ultra-widescreen monitor. The speakers are mounted underneath grilles on the sides of the keyboard, so you get speakers that actually fire up at you, instead of down on the table. The speakers are quite good for a laptop of this size and price. In addition, the battery should give you around ten hours of life (more or less, depending on the task you are doing). So far, things are looking quite good indeed. The included 512 GB M.2 SSD can easily be replaced. The included SSD is only 30mm long, but it comes with an extender to make it fit an 80mm slot, so it can easily be upgraded with another 30mm or 80mm unit. ---> The Bad <--- The machine came pre-installed with junk software including McAffee anti-virus software, which can make a good computer run slow. It also came with Alexa installed too, but these can be easily removed. ---> The Ugly <--- The big elephant in the room is the memory in this computer. It only has 8GB of RAM. It is DDR5, and appears to be 4400 speed class, but there is not enough of it. I did not bother with benchmarks, as the limited memory is going to prevent this from being used for anything heavy-duty. It is fine for casual web browsing and common office tasks. But for anything serious, this limitation is going to seriously kneecap the performance. Just having FireFox and Word open at the same time used up most of the memory. Plus, the memory is soldered to the motherboard, so upgrading is not even an option. This computer is too expensive to be considered a “cheap” computer but does not have enough memory to be considered a “serious” computer. So it falls awkwardly between the two categories. If 8 GB of memory is enough, then you can get a cheaper machine that will serve just as well. On the other hand, if you need performance, then don’t get this. So it is well-constructed, but the specifications just don’t make sense. This is a shame, as the CPU itself is rather nice and would be capable of so much more.

Disappointed

However I bought this computer brand new and my speakers sound like the have been blown out. The charger has now started to make a high pitched buzzing sound whenever plugged into the laptop . As well my screen keeps flashing anytime I am full screen in YouTube or Max. The quality is really nice but I am annoyed that I am having these problems with a brand new laptop .

Was great

I work in IT, tried everything, backed up what I could, tried to repair it, use a bit locker key, nothing worked. So now I am resetting it to factory settings and hope what I saved off is what I need to have once it is done. So frustrated right now with it. Before this, it worked great, so it would have been a 5 star until now... I shouldn't have to do this only after 6 months of using it.

Some Notebooks and Tablets with Keyboards have added gesture features to the touchpad hardware and drivers. A few of these features are two or three finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touchpad driver properties. Here are some tips to modify these settings:
1. In the Search box, type main.cpl.
2. Touch or click main.cpl in the list of programs.
3. Touch or click the Dell Touchpad tab.
4. Touch or click on the picture of the touchpad.
5. Touch or click Gestures (depending on your computer there may not be a Gestures option).
6. Change the options as preferred.
7. Touch or click Save.
8. Touch or click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.
9. Touch or click OK on the Mouse Properties window.

Shoulb be user-friendlier

Also the wired mouse is unstable and requires extra clicks to stabilize it and double clicks sometimes for simple workprocessing applications.

1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built-in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.

Issues within a month of buying

They were 1, a, z, Esc. and a few others. I had the exact samr issur with my old Dell laptop, but the problems didn't start until after several years. I ended up having to get the entire keyboard replaced. It's working now but I will have this perpetual fear it may stop working st any moment. Dell was really helpful for my issues with this.
