If I could return it, I would.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I missed the window to return this because I have a crazy busy schedule. I hope to contact Dell and ask them why this computer is so awful. I’ve used Dell desktops in the past and really liked them. This computer, that I’ve only had for about 35 days will just stop working sometimes. All of a sudden I can’t move the cursor. One time I was turning up the display light and when it was only at 50% of its brightness, it wouldn’t let me increase it again until I put it to sleep and then started using the computer again. By the way, the screen is not bright and poorly calibrated for photo editing. It also often gives me error messages. All I have been doing is using the internet for nothing more than social media, email and a little online shopping. I’ve been using Lightroom as well but running that hasn’t been a problem. I was actually really worried this would happen, I would get something I didn’t love. I’ve dont lots of research to find something I could afford and use for Lightroom and email. I thought this would be one I would love but I’m really disappointed.

Posted .King,
Thanks for your review and we're sorry that your computer was running too hot for you. There are several tips that we would recommend if this happens with another computer that you're using in the future:
Tips for Proper Usage:
1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.
You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2uJ8AdG.
There's also an article that we have about troubleshooting your fingerprint scanner: https://dell.to/32bckET.
We're sorry to hear that you decided to return your computer but we hope that you'll consider Dell again in the future.

Nothing but good statements!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Dell - Inspiron 2-in-1 14" Touch-Screen Laptop - AMD Ryzen 7 - 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD - Taupe is a great addition to add to help me with my technology needs. Its smaller size makes it easier to travel with, but the processing power it produces is comparable to the larger more expensive laptops. The Dell - Inspiron 2-in-1 14" Touch-Screen Laptop comes with Cortana which initiated the setup process for me. All I had to do was answer the questions stated to me. I was up and running in a matter of minutes. The 2-in-1 capacity of the Dell - Inspiron 2-in-1 14" Touch-Screen Laptop makes it very beneficial for me, because it allows me to have a basic laptop operating system when needed and an Android tablet when app usage becomes necessary. The Touch-Screen function is a great addition to have with app usage. The camera works excellently with in depth clarity and pixilation and the volume is perfect for a small laptop. I installed several software packages and apps to test out the Dell - Inspiron 2-in-1 14" Touch-Screen Laptop. The laptop function is problem free and processes data instantly and the android function performs as any large tablet would with commands from my fingers. I have nothing but good statements to write about the Dell - Inspiron 2-in-1 14" Touch-Screen Laptop - AMD Ryzen 7 - 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD - Taupe.

Posted .Hi Jace73,
Thank you for the feedback you have provided. I am sorry to hear about the overheating issue you have mentioned. I can understand how frustrating this could be. Here are some tips for proper usage to avoid overheating your computer,

Also, here are some steps you may take to create a power plan for your battery to improve the performance,
Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

Bad out of box experience with LCD and CPU Fan
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was extremely disappointing. Out of the box the laptop LCD panel had very bad white lighting coming from the top bezel in three spots. Black would not look black. Additionally the CPU fan would not stop running even on a zero CPU load. Was excited to try the AMD processor but the overall experience was extremely disappointing. Dell needs to improve their quality control. Best Buy service was not happy about my return until I purchased a more expensive laptop, then their attitude changed.

Fully Disfunctional
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unless you want your head to ache every month, do not purchase this product. I bought it in Aug, got it with a damaged screen, returned. Worked for a month, brought it to Best Buy as speakers and mic are not working, they had it til end of December. They replaced the motherboard. Now, its camera’s not working. They would need to take it back again for God knows how long. And most probably once I get it, something will break again. It’s a total waste of time and money. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Posted .pdxdennis,
Thanks for your review and we're sorry that your laptop does not have the ethernet connection that you were hoping for. If you ever need to troubleshoot your WiFi connection you can follow these steps:
1. Download and install the latest Wireless Card driver. (https://dell.to/2th3Tpe) After updating the driver, re-establish the connection with the Wireless Access Point and check the wireless performance.
2. If the issue persists, proceed to step 3.
3. Power-cycle the local network. Shut down the Dell system, the Wireless Access Point/Router and the Modem. Wait a minimum of 60 seconds before powering up the components in the following order:
4. Power ON the Modem, and wait for it to boot fully.
5. Power ON the Wireless Access Point/Router, and wait for it to boot fully.
6. Power ON the Dell system.
7. Open Network and Sharing Center
8. In the left side navigation pane, click on Change Adapter Settings
9. Right click on the wireless connection icon and select Properties followed by the Configure button
10. Under Wireless Options, select the Wireless N mode
11. For Windows 8 or later systems click the Advanced tab and look for 802.11n Mode on the right you will be given the option to Enable or Disable. If the mode is not visible you may need to update your drivers and firmware.
12. From the drop-down menu, choose Disable followed by Ok
13. This should restore the wireless download and upload speed. Internet speed can be tested at http://speedtest.net.

Unusable
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop early March to upgrade from my old one. Things were working fine up until three weeks later when the WiFi card failed. I brought it in, and my local Best Buy was nice enough to let me exchange it out. I just got the same one since, asides from the WiFi card failing, it worked nicely. I thought it was an odd one-off issue, but now, three weeks pretty much from my exchange, the WiFi card has yet again failed. I cannot even begin to describe my disappointment in this product. The laptop I owned before this was roughly 300 dollars cheaper and lasted me four or five years. Do not purchase if you want a computer that lasts longer than a month.
