    Terrible Sound with Unbearable Treble

Don't get me wrong, I was looking forward to using this fabulous machine when I saw the specs on paper. I ordered the Excellent Certified Laptop Dell 15 7000 (on sale for $901), which came with all the gadgets in perfect aesthetic condition. However, once I set up my laptop I noticed an appalling drawback. The quality of the sound with headphones was awful. My first guess was that my earbuds are not functioning properly. So I switched to my beats headphones. I used multiple earphones and still could not get rid of the high treble, poor quality sound with low bass and not so comfortable crackling audio (especially when you hear someone speaking). So I compared the dell sound quality to my previous laptop's sound quality. I was using a pixel-book (Chrome OS) which is a not so good machine to say the least. Even though my pixelbook works in a good condition, the only reason I was looking for a new laptop was because of Chrome OS, which is an extremely unfriendly system. Apps are limited, using word, office or akin softwares is literally impossible. This overall usage as a laptop is pointless, not to mention the glitches in he softwares that are available as well. I have suffered for 2 years and every day I wished to gather enough money to find an escape from Chrome OS and shift to an equally cool windows system. Any way to my misfortune, I nearly found a perfect laptop in my price range but the sound was extremely unbearable especially when I compare it to any other normal laptop including to Pixel-book. Now I have tried all the hacks online. I have tried to revert the sound driver from realtek to native sound driver. I have tried to disable the Dell incorporated Waves Maxxaudio software which many people blame for the issue in Dells sound quality. I've tried all the possible fixes but nothing has worked. I just cannot afford to invest in another machine which has a glaring drawback that will haunt me for years to come. If someone can let me know a fix to the issue with sound quality of this new Dell laptop, I would be ever grateful. Otherwise I have no choice to return this machine and buy a simple laptop, with no graphics card, no 4K and basic 2in1 function with a decent motherboard. I would encourage you to do the same if you think listening to good music and streaming is an important part of your usage. Will appreciate help or feedback ASAP! Thank you, Haider

This is Dell's one of the latest Inspiron models. The build quality is pretty good and has a solid feel on the heavy side. This is a 2-in-1, which means you can use this laptop in different modes: tent, stand, laptop, or tablet mode. The setup was a breeze. The laptop comes with Intel's latest 10th Gen i7-10510U processor, powerful for a variety of users to get their work done. The display is a 15.6" touch screen with 4K resolution. The resolution is stunning on this and I really like the narrow border with less bezels. The included 16GB RAM (max capacity as well) handles the tasks very smoothly. I had couple of browsers with few tabs open on each, listening to music, doing some light work, and didn't feel any lag and everything was loading very fast. It is also equipped with 512GB SSD + 32GB Intel Optane. The loading times are really fast. Not to forget, there is also a 2GB dedicated GDDR5 graphics card onboard which helps with photo/video editing software, some gaming, movies, etc. There are plenty of ports on this sleek laptop. You get two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one universal headset jack, 3-in-1 MicroSD card reader, one HDMI 2.0 port, and a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type C (Thunderbolt 3) for power and extended display. It also has Intel WIFI 6 adapter (future proof) and Bluetooth 5.0 module. The keyboard is backlit and Dell has managed to include the full numberpad. The trackpad is not exactly positioned by the center of the keyboard, so it might take few uses to get used to this placing. The power button is placed inline with the keyboard and has built-in fingerprint reader, which you can setup to use with Windows Hello. The included webcam is a standard 720p camera and doesn't support facial recognition for easy login. But it serves its purpose of video chats. The included Dell Active Pen is similar to Surface Pen and it works seamlessly. I use it to take notes and some of the Windows Ink functionality. It is not rechargeable, and uses an AAAA battery, which does last long (from Surface Pen experience), depending on how heavily you use. The best part is that there is a storage on the laptop hinge where you can keep the pen secured. The included speaker does a good job of stereo output. You can customize it using the included Dell audio tool. Since I mostly connect my headphones, I am not going to leave it as is in default mode. The battery (nonremovable) life is pretty good and has the Dell's version of quick charge. It lasts 5-7 hours, depending on the usage and the settings. A solid laptop from Dell that is good for various users with wide spectrum of use cases. Do take a look at this one if you are in the market to buy/upgrade to a new computer.

So far this laptop has been hitting all the marks. I've had no issues with it whatsoever. My last laptop was a Dell and I didn't like the way the keyboard felt. I went with Dell again, because other than the keyboard size feeling small, it was great. It lasted 11 years! This laptop feels comfortable and has performed well.

My daughter bought this laptop for college and it’s working great. Soon after purchase she saw that it went on sale, $400 off the price we paid. I got on the BestBuy app, chatted with a customer service person and the difference in price was credited within five minutes. I am truly glad we purchased from BestBuy!

By no means am I a techy , but I did my research on this computer. I compared it to many models relative to its specs and overall performance. This one was hands down the Best Buy. 4k resolution, digital pen comes with computer and an I7 processor and much more. I’ve had no problems and highly recommend this machine.

I looked and searched reviews for a long time before purchasing. All reviews always returned me to the xps 15. It's a little more power than I currently need, but it will grow with me which is exactly what I intended. Nothing more frustrating than getting a device that falls behind. I got the power and love the capacity.

It's a nice laptop, but for a 2in1, it's way too heavy. I have another 2in1 that I was going to replace with this one, but continue to use the original because this one is heavy.

The laptop works great with a 100w USB C power adapter also with a 100w PD pass through the docking station. The only thing that's missing is the Windows Hello login feature but it does have a great fingerprint reader. Overall, the laptop will last me a few years before I replace it with a newer one.

I just purchased this laptop and I love it. I used to work for Dell and I love their products. It has everything I could want and it's fast. I love the fingerprint login, webroot internet because I have yearly tech support, and I was able to set this laptop up with voice prompts. Easy, love it, very happy.

This has been a great laptop. It's fast and images on screen are really sharp. The area where this laptop severely lacks is in network connectivity. It doesn't have a LAN connection built in either so you have to purchase one if you want a high speed connection. I am able to get a maximum of 10 mbps wireless speed. I have gone through the troubleshooting steps both online and with Dell with no success. Every other device connected to my network has a minimum of 118 mbps wireless connection speed.

I wanted to like this laptop, I really did, but it's simply too loud. The fans kick in every minute or so (just idle, no heavy computing) and they ramp up to max RPM and stay there for 10-15 seconds. I just don't understand why it needs this much cooling the way I'm using it. I've decided to return it for this reason. My previous laptop of 4 years was almost silent, and it was a $1400 Lenovo from 2015.

      Edward,

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that you decided to return your computer because of fan noise. In the future you may want to check to see if your computer's BIOS is up to date. Many times updating the BIOS on your computer can help lower the fan noise that you're hearing.

Love the 2 in 1. Quick start, fast. Great size and perfect for taking to meetings. Everything we needed in a laptop. It is so nice to have the laptop start up as soon as you open it. This laptop is great for work easy to take notes zoom meetings and the 2 in 1 makes using it convenient.
