I think it is not necessary to talk about the specifications, however mentioning the 2-1 feature, which is very well built and fast, is one of the primary characteristics of the nature of this laptop / tablet that really stand out. Aesthetics: this laptop has a fairly simple and clean finish which allows the screen to be the center of attention, the color evokes simplicity and professionalism as well as a fresh touch, unfortunately the material with which it is made, makes fingerprints visible everywhere. It is large and thin but not too much, the weight is something that in the long term could be not very comfortable, it depends on the use. The stylus has an excellent weight and size but in a matter of design it is like the computer itself, simple. Performance: The speed at startup is fast, but it will greatly influence that applications and files are stored over time. Due to the low capacity of the hard disk it makes me recommend the use of an external memory of the capacity of your needs since that could reduce the possibility of saturating the memory of the laptop. The speed when using the applications is a little bit over the average, responds quickly in the laptop mode, I have only found problems in the tablet mode, but this is directly related to the touch screen as well as the interface that changes a bit but It is not as intuitive as a tablet per se. In the tablet mode I recommend activate the automatic mode, so that every time the screen is flipped and enters in tablet mode, the operating system does not ask you every time activate this mode. As I mentioned above, in tablet mode sometimes you feel that clicking, dragging or selecting does not respond very well. Nothing really overshadows the great capacity that this laptop has 2-1. Security: In terms of security, it has a fingerprint reader, which although it is not the fastest and most efficient, but if it is configured with patience, it can be a great ally when you turn on the laptop to log in. Optical Pencil: it fulfills its work in a great way, however it does not have many options on both buttons that it has, it may not be necessary, but a couple of extra shortcuts would be great. The space to store it is a plus that characterizes this computer and that sometimes makes you forget that it is there. Screen: In the graphic question the laptop put an effort in the colors and has an excellent resolution, because of the size of the screen, the experience becomes even better. Despite having special configurations by Dell software, sometimes when playing streaming content, it seems to not quite reach the clarity of some other 4k screens, it isn't that notorious but still a point to improve. Battery: surfing the internet, watching streaming content, listening to music and using programs for tasks or work, it could be said that the duration ranges from 4 to 7 hours, quite good for a 2-1 laptop. In short, it is an excellent laptop / tablet that shows a good performance compared to other computers of a higher price and range For use at home, office or school, it is a great option because it suits most of the needs of the consumer, the screen takes center stage and makes the experience very pleasant to find in it a lot of space and distribution, both in the operating system and in third-party applications. The stylus is a very useful alternative and also has a storage space that makes its use even easier. A good product at a reasonable price.

A lot of things just don't work or stop working. The fingerprint sensor is horrendous, had to turn it off. The mousepad is also bad. Bad tracking and really bad at using gestures, especially three finger gestures. A lot of FN shortcuts end up not working and the only way to fix it is by restarting your computer. The auto rotate messes up sometimes and the windows 10 shortcuts (CTRL+ALT+arrow keys) don't work to fix it, so you're stuck trying to fix it while it's upside down. The display settings in general just get messed up sometimes and it's a pain to fix. I'm sure there's more things I could complain about but these are the biggest things to come to mind.

      Shawn,

We're sorry that your computer's fingerprint reader is not working the way that it should. Dell has released a new driver that should help resolve this issue with your system:

Updating the Goodix fingerprint sensor driver to 3.10.30.110 or newer will fix the issue.

To download and install the latest driver:

      1. Browse to the Dell Drivers & Downloads page:

      Support Site Drivers Page

      2. Ensure you have the correct System Type

      3. Select the Operating System

      4. Under Category, select Security

      5. Locate the latest Goodix Fingerprint Sensor Driver (A04 or newer)

      6. Click Download and save the file to your computer

      7. Open File Explorer and browse to the location where the downloaded file is saved

      8. Double-click the Sensor setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process

      9. You will need a system restart to finalize this installation.

If you need help calibrating your touchpad you can follow these steps: Some Notebooks and Tablets with Keyboards have added gesture features to the touchpad hardware and drivers. A few of these features are two or three finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touchpad driver properties. Here are some tips to modify these settings:

      1. In the Search box, type main.cpl.
      2. Touch or click main.cpl in the list of programs.
      3. Touch or click the Dell Touchpad tab.
      4. Touch or click on the picture of the touchpad.
      5. Touch or click Gestures (depending on your computer there may not be a Gestures option).
      6. Change the options as preferred.
      7. Touch or click Save.
      8. Touch or click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.
      9. Touch or click OK on the Mouse Properties window.
      10. If the touchpad still does not work after following the preceding steps, refer to Dell Knowledge Base article - http://dell.to/2iaiujA.

    Keeps shutting down while sleeping

Not very happy. It keeps shutting down, while i put it to sleep. I have checked all the settings e.g go to sleep on closing the lid or idling for 10 min etc. But every time i try to wake it up. It boots from beginning as it turned off automatically with the message on the screen saying, “Machine wasn't turned off properly’. This is really so inconvenient, that i cant leave my work on screen and let it go to sleep so i can come back to it.

      Drcheema,

Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear about this inconvenience. In the Power Manager on your computer there should be a checkbox that allows your computer to shut down during sleep mode in order to save power. We'd recommend unchecking this box in order to prevent your computer to shut down when it's asleep. We hope that this helps resolve the issue that you're having.

I don't understand how manufacturers are allowed to knowingly sell defective products. Within a week of using this laptop, I started noticing my wifi keeps dropping. I google this (Google 'Dell Inspiron 7000 wifi issues) to see that this is a common and well known problem. I have tried all the recommended fixes to no avail. I will be returning this. Very disappointing and a waste of time. Not sure how this is getting great reviews when many others are experiencing this problem.

Worst laptop I ever purchased! Cost $1400 but caught it on sale. Bought a 3 year drop/spill warrenty about $170 but that doesn't cover software issues. I didn't really use it the first coulple months I notice it was slower than my other laptops but didn't return it. Big mistake! 5 months later I had to get it service because it kept locking up in programs. Cost me another $160 geek squad warrenty for software and $50 for an external hard drive to back up data before reboot! I could have gotten a mac for this price! Let's not talk about the work I can't get done while it's in the shop. Plus Best Buy is backed up if it was hardware related I'd be out of a laptop 5-6weeks. I got it for a small business I just completed paperwork for a week ago. Now I need it and it is being serviced! No loaner program either.

I was very happy to make this purchase, a certified refurbished 2 in 1, which was going to be used for my art business and digital art. I received it and it was fantastic. I enjoyed the display, performance, 2 in 1 flexibility, and was great as a drawing surface for my art. After only ten days, the CPU fan died. I updated the bios, windows, etc. No luck. I tried to troubleshoot using numerous fixes. The fan appears dead. I am now torn between returning the product outright, or trying to get it fixed under warranty. However I am afraid to do so as I may have a lemon. I inquired about returning, and there may not even be a comparable model available for purchase through best buy even if I wanted to get a new one. I am also quetioning whether of not I even want to attempt to get a 2-1 as I am a bit apprehensive since this one failed. I only have a couple days left to decide if I want to return/replace, or just go shopping for a new product elsewhere.
