In my opinion, there have not been any mind-blowing technological improvements for laptops over the last few years. I do believe that there are too many specialized devices (eg, tablets, phones, and laptops) these days, when only one should do. Many people have a tablet, but notice that it does not have enough power to run many PC games, and they normally do not have a dedicated video card. It is nice to have a true all-in-one device which has the convenience of a touchscreen, yet has the power needed for other applications. I liked how this laptop is made mostly of metal, but does not feel heavy. I also liked how Dell was able to minimize the border around the screen and included a number pad on the keyboard on this 15-inch laptop. I have been impressed with this laptop’s performance, but I noticed that the cooling fan is louder than my current laptop and tends to cycle on and off frequently. I plan to look into this more and hopefully figure out if this can be fixed with a driver update. In tablet mode this device is easy to hold, but can seem a little heavy. While using paint, I noticed the pen would not draw on the screen unless enough pressure was applied. I am not sure if this is expected, but I noticed my Galaxy Note phone’s pen felt more natural and more responsive. I am not sure if comparing it to a phone’s pen is a fair comparison, but thought it was worth mentioning. Pros Hardware can handle most games well Included magnetic pen for tablet applications Number pad included on keyboard Cons Magnetic pen uses a AAA battery and is not self-recharging on base Fan turns on/off frequently Just as long as the loud fan doesn’t bother you, I would recommend this as a contender in eliminating the need for both a tablet and a laptop.

This is a solid and impressive laptop with a lot of power packed into a slim and attractive package. Slim but not lightweight at nearly five pounds. However, most high end 15” 2 in 1 one laptops are in this same weight category. It takes a big battery to power a 4K touch screen and all the high-end power components, and that means weight. I’ve spent extensive time with HP’s Spectre line, and the specs and build quality of this Dell Inspiron are on a par. The Spectre looks flashier where this Dell is, if anything, understated by comparison. That may actually appeal to some. Here are the things I really like: Dell has brought minimalist and eco-conscious packaging to a high point. No box in a box in a box here. Just enough to protect and suspend the laptop and a compartment to separate the charger. The build quality is absolutely first class, It feels very durable and solid. The magnetic pen holder built into the hinge is a stroke of simple genius. Venting the heat out the back of the hinge was another great idea. It helps direct the warm air away from you, and when all the available power kicks into high, there is some heat. It’s loaded with powerful and impressive components including the newest Generation 10 i7-10510U processor, 16 GB of high-speed RAM, a 521 GB PCIe drive with 32 GB Optane, the very latest WIFI and Bluetooth, as well as both onboard Intel and discrete Nvidia graphics. A good selection of ports … one Thunderbolt/USB-C with power, two Type-A USB 3.1, HDMI, micro SD, headphone and charge. And then some things that aren’t as good: As with most 4K screen laptops, the battery life suffers. I’ve not been able to get more than 5 hours of run time on a full charge. I’m sure in low power mode it can do better. Although the black finish is striking, it does tend to be a bit of a fingerprint magnet. It’s only mildly noticeable and not a bad tradeoff for the stealth appearance. As mentioned, this is a heavy laptop. It’s a 2 in 1 with a 360 hinge, but I don’t see using it on my lap. In summary. It did everything I asked very well including running some high-end graphics programs. The touch screen and pen work well, and the screen is a thing of true beauty when watching full 4K videos. The top and side bezels are nearly non-existent, and the 720P webcam is at the top … shrunk down to fit into a very tight space. The speakers are above average for a laptop. This is especially true when placed on a desk, so the down-firing speakers get good bounce and separation. Also, be sure to use the Dell sound app to shape the sound to your liking. Buy a 13” unit if you’re after super lightweight and ultimate portability. Buy this guy if you want power, production and a screen that’s large enough to actually make sense of being 4K. It’s a winner.

      3. Click Control Panel.
      4. Click System and Security.

Would not recommend. Bought it new in February 2020 after needing a windows computer for a class. Within 2 months of having it I have had to make multiple calls to Dell support due to various issues. The biggest one being the computer has slide to shutdown randomly popping up and the computer will shut itself down multiple times while in the middle of using it. Dell support has been of little help, doing nothing more than updating windows and disabling the power button while the computer is on (avoiding actually fixing the issue). Since the scans show no issues with the hardware itself, I am left with no support for the computer.

My previous laptop is a touch screen and I really enjoy the ability to be able to tap quickly on the screen to complete something vs having to use the mouse to do so; so this Dell being a touch screen was really great for me! The laptop has a 4k display, a decent amount of RAM & a SSD. Boot times are blazing fast because of the RAM & the SSD. Most laptops come with a 5400 rpm HDD instead of a SSD to save money and they boot so slow it is like waiting for an old 56k modem to connect; so the fact that this one has a SSD should be a welcome addition for anyone purchasing this laptop. The stylus is really cool, I can't wait to use this at work to sign documents so that I can give that a shot. I did some playing around with it & it seems pretty solid and tracks really well. One of my sons used to have a Note8 and would always color & draw on various apps on there so I look forward to him getting a chance to do so on a much larger screen as well. He is a teenager so I trust him not to break it like I would if he were smaller of course. I didn't have a chance to try out the Wireless AX as we don't have anything over 150mbps where I live so I was stuck with Wireless AC and capping out at 150-180mbps (we pay for 150 but can routinely hit 180-190mbps). That said though, this laptop already has a WIFI 6 network adapter so it is ready for almost gigabit speeds over WIFI with the Wireless AX technology. The laptop really feels like a solid build and it looks really sleek and beautiful, it is replacing a couple year old Dell that was more geared toward gaming. This laptop here is NOT a gaming laptop so don't expect it to be, but for what it is: movie watching, browsing, business, etc it does an amazing job. I could not be happier with this product, it is literally one of the best laptops I have ever owned. What are you waiting for? Quit looking and buy this amazing laptop!

Laptop had very poor Bluetooth audio connection from the start. It was defective, didn't realize it was a bad part until after engaging Dell. Wish I had returned it. ** RETURN IT BEFORE CALLING DELL ** Dell did not find the actual problem the first time. I had to tell them which antenna was bad and send it in a second time. Now they've had the laptop for 4 more weeks, 3 of those weeks waiting for parts. I purchased it 3 months ago and between shipping and Dell, they've had it more than I have. Before calling Dell, RETURN IT and try your luck on another model.

      Dobie,

Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear that your computer is crashing. Please check the following site to see if there is a BIOS update available for your computer: https://dell.to/2O9v4wg.

If you'd like to re-calibrate your touchpad you can follow these steps: Some Notebooks and Tablets with Keyboards have added gesture features to the touchpad hardware and drivers. A few of these features are two or three finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touchpad driver properties. Here are some tips to modify these settings:

      1. In the Search box, type main.cpl.
      2. Touch or click main.cpl in the list of programs.
      3. Touch or click the Dell Touchpad tab.
      4. Touch or click on the picture of the touchpad.
      5. Touch or click Gestures (depending on your computer there may not be a Gestures option).
      6. Change the options as preferred.
      7. Touch or click Save.
      8. Touch or click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.
      9. Touch or click OK on the Mouse Properties window.
      10. If the touchpad still does not work after following the preceding steps, refer to Dell Knowledge Base article - http://dell.to/2iaiujA.

      WFWRD,

Thanks for your review. We're sorry that your computer is not working the way that it should. If you'd like to cool off your computer we'd recommend the following tips:

      Tips for Proper Usage:

      1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
      2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
      3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
      4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
      5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
      6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

      guant,

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear about the troubles that you've had with your Dell computers. Dell Computers come with a One Year Limited Warranty that you can read more about here: http://dell.to/2tNsVOs.

If you are still having trouble booting up your computer you can follow these steps:

      1. If the computer is displaying the Dell logo and does not move past that point, it has probably failed POST.
      2. If the power indicator lights up and it is amber or orange, this is usually an indicator that it has failed POST.
      3. If you see text on a black screen, the computer is currently performing the POST. If the computer stays in that condition and does not move past it, it has probably failed POST.
      4. If the video screen displayed anything at all during the startup process but is now black, this probably indicates that the computer failed POST.
      5. If the computer is beeping or if Caps/Num/Scroll Locks are flashing, note if there is a particular pattern in which it beeps or flashes.
      6. If the computer is not beeping and caps/num/scroll locks are not flashing, unplug all connections and remove all media communication devices (e.g. external monitors); reconnect one at a time and check if the computer functions.
      7. For a notebook, press and hold the Fn key and then press the power button. This starts the pre-boot testing and will launch ePSA. In case you have a Desktop at the Dell logo screen tap the F12 key to enter One Time Boot Menu and use the arrow keys to highlight Diagnostics and press enter.
