Great Price for product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great laptop for the price. great speed and has the storage needed for everyday use. With the 15.6" screen the HD resolution helps to see the display clearly. I would recommend this product with this price to many people. - Alexander Taylor

Great Budget Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you keep in mind that this is a low-end, budget laptop, then you will not be disappointed. Works great for surfing the web, composing emails, online banking, etc. The touchpad sensitivity is hit or miss, and the keyboard is a bit "bouncy" (meaning it needs more structural support underneath), but overall it gets the job done. On the first couple of start ups and uses it will run slow because Windows, Dell and McAfee are all trying to download updates at the exact same time - and these are not just simple patches but large, version updates and such. My advice to let it run and do its thing. Don't get heavy handed and start hammering away on the power button or forcing reboots because you are impatient. Once it sorts itself out you won't notice any speed issues. Hope this helps someone!

I'm in love!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start off by saying why it lost one star for me was because I cannot stand the touchpad. But because I use, and just already had, a wireless mouse I don't even have to use it unless if I want to stream some movies or watch YouTube. My last laptop was very slow, and I like to game but the games I play don't require much ram yet it still ran slowly and would lag like no tomorrow. With this laptop I feel so free with the games I play. So if you are just using this laptop to surf the web or for work I'm sure this will be perfect for you! And for those who like to play small casual games it's also a dream! Have yet to try any of my harder ram games but either way I'm extremely happy with my purchase!

Good PC, Good Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this laptop on sale for just $279.99, and I have to say it was a good value. Pros - Good quality screen, 60hz Refresh rate, Fast CPU, 6GB of Fast RAM. Good gaming on E-Sports titles and older games. DVD Drive, Good audio ports, Plenty of USB ports, SD Card readers, Material on the laptop feels nice, but gets smudges rather easily. Handles 4k content easily on YouTube and runs Netflix well. Cons - Occasional freezes when using chrome, very rare, Came with some bloatware, Disk usage was at 100%, read other thoughts on how to fix, Some visible back light bleeding on the bottom of the screen. Other Thoughts - I extremely suggest doing a clean install of windows before using this and installing applications. This will prevent any slow downs from pre-installed software on the laptop. Also about the 100% disk usage, I suggest checking this toms hardware post on how to fix it. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2813275/disk-usage-100.html Overall, even though this computer does have some bugs, for the price you can't get to much better for a brand new computer.

Good laptop for less than $300
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just got it for two days. Overall I am satisfied with it. What is good: 1. Newest CPU, which is 7 series; 2. The overall quality feels solid. 3. Sound is not bad, Wireless is fast as expected. 4. Has bluetooth 5. The power cord is long enough and the power adapter is cute, which is more convenient than a huge one. Which is not good but acceptable. 1. The screen quality is just so so. Worse than the expensive one. If you are picky for the screen, do not purchase this one. Since I also use Mac, it took me several hours to get along with this relatively poor screen quality. However, the screen quality worth the price. 2. 6G Memory may not enough for heavy use, but enough for the normal use, like text editing, web browsing, and video watching, etc.

OK but can be Great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this laptop but actually with 4GB ram. So with Core i3 CPU, 4GB memory and 5400rpm HDD it is very slow. this is the basic configuration and it is just good for very basic stuff, like internet browsing. But if you want to spend 200$ more to get Core i5 one, do not do that. you can make this laptop a great one. I replaced the 1TB HDD with 250GB SSD lie below: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-850-evo-250gb-internal-serial-ata-solid-state-drive-for-laptops/1661028.p?skuId=1661028 and I added extera 8GB memory to that. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/pny-8gb-pc3-12800-ddr3-dimm-desktop-memory-green/5429091.p?skuId=5429091 now, with SSD and total of 12GB memory it is much much faster than even core i7 model. with total of 500$ you can build a very good laptop from this little one for multiple purposes. what is good about it: 1- CPU (comparing to price) 2- Good graphic card (comparing to price) for external monitors or TV 3- Weight 4- Battery 5- DVD Drive 6- USB 3.0 ports 7- SD card reader 8- HDMI output 9- Keyboard What is not good about it: 1- LCD (Resolution is not high and quality is just OK) 2- HDD (is 5400rpm but you can replace it with SSD) 3- Memory (it is just 4 or 6 GB but you can add up to 16GB)

Great Laptop for the Price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely amazing little machine once of all the updates are installed on it. For the price along with the newer Intel HD video is impressive. I just can't get over this price point! You can't go wrong with this.

Good price, average machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this machine cause it was a price too good to pass up. My old machine is almost 9 years old so I was ready for an upgrade. My needs for a computer are basic...web surfing, email, Office files. I tried to like this computer knowing it was a basic budget machine. It works well and does the basic things it needs to do. I felt it was a bit sluggish and that's not what I expected from an Intel i3 with 6gb of ram. I used it and tried it out for the duration that I had it and was overall not happy with it. The screen on this computer is a budget screen and I was not looking for the highest quality screen. I felt it was more of an eye strain than I was expecting. My previous screen on my laptop was just about the same but I feel like the Dell one just wasn't as clear for me. In the end I returned it because it wasn't suited for me. I feel this computer offers a great value when you can get it on sale for under Three Hundred Dollars. It's good for most people and the basic needs of being able to get online and do home office work. I hope this was helpful.

Great for the Price, much faster once updated
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Seems well built and I'm impressed with the quality. At first I thought the hard drive was really slow but have since realized that updates and virus scans running in the background the first day or two were the culprit. Runs like a completely different machine now that everything is updated. Also, wish it had a hard drive light but the Windows 10 task manager does show hard drive activity with details. Also, I would like to be in full control of the timing of Windows Updates but there are some options provided and regardless it's a Windows 10 thing and not anything specific to this computer.

Cheap but slow
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this computer for my wife as a replacement for an old HP laptop that had died. I chose this model based on specifications (i3 6100 processor, 6GB RAM, 1TB HD) and generally good reviews. It was also very inexpensive, which should have served as a warning. Compared with my ASUS laptop, which is a year old, this Dell has horrible graphics and a really slow network card. Accessing the internet is about 10 times slower than my ASUS, based on tests I run using speedtest.googlefiber.net. Fortunately, my wife only uses it for email, Word, and a few other things which don't require much power. This proves once again that you get what you pay for.

Good deal!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop for myself for college online courses. It's a nice and fast laptop for daily use.Great disk space, RAM and good processor. I mainly use it for online HW and Office program and it get the job done for me. I initially was inclined to purchase due to special price at the time of $289 which was a steal for this!

fine for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this is a perfectly good laptop for the price. have realistic expectations about the power and portability. my application is a home laptop that i keep on a desk for non-gaming uses (email, shopping, very basic photo/video editing). only "problem" that i can see is that the screen has a lot of glare and the resolution is poor. you sometimes have to adjust the angle a bit to be able to see clearly. minus one star for the meh screen but besides that this is a perfectly functional budget laptop. -robbie

Spend a little more...it could be worth it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased initial Dell Inspiron in August. Returned in early September due to major problems. Exchanged for same brand and model as I had been satisfied with it up to that point. Here it is October 2.. problems with this second Dell laptop. Getting Alert messages re AC Power Adapter. Will make the trip again to see the Geek Squad later this week. Back in my working days, I worked for a company that used Dell computers exclusively. Guess In the last seven years, Dell has gone downhill!

Posted .Dear Ducky, Thanks for your recent Dell laptop purchase. We're sorry to hear that your first computer did not work the way that you had hoped. Here are some causes to consider that may be related to your AC Power Adapter message:
1. 3rd party or non-Dell branded AC adapter is connected to the PC or docking station.
2. Using an AC adapter with a lower wattage.
3. The AC adapter is not fully connected to the PC.
4. The wall power cord is not fully connected to the AC adapter.
5. The AC adapter or PC's AC adapter port is damaged.
6. The AC adapter is not recognized in BIOS (System Setup).

Doesn't last buyer beware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Son is a sophomore in college. Last year as a Freshman we bought one of these. It died in the second semester. It would start to power on then black screen and shut off. He had an issue with a cracked screen and we thought maybe that had something to do with it. We just bought him a new one for his Sophomore year which began in August. It's now October and this one has done the same thing. He can't power it on to do his homework. He pushes the power button it makes a clicking noise starts to power up then the screen goes black and it shuts off. I'd say you get what you pay for, but I think we paid for more than 3 months of a working laptop.

Posted .- CollegeDad, We can assure you that this is not the way that our Dell computers are designed to work. All of our Dell products do come with a One Year Limited Warranty that you can view the terms of here - http://dell.to/2sH7Qlm.
In order to troubleshoot the issue with the computer not turning on, we'd recommend the following:
1. If the computer is displaying the Dell logo and does not move past that point, it has probably failed POST.
2. If the power indicator lights up and it is amber or orange, this is usually an indicator that it has failed POST.
3. If you see text on a black screen, the computer is currently performing the POST. If the computer stays in that condition and does not move past it, it has probably failed POST.
4. If the video screen displayed anything at all during the startup process but is now black, this probably indicates that the computer failed POST.
5. If the computer is beeping or if Caps/Num/Scroll Locks are flashing, note if there is a particular pattern in which it beeps or flashes.
6. If the computer is not beeping and caps/num/scroll locks are not flashing, unplug all connections and remove all media communication devices (e.g. external monitors); reconnect one at a time and check if the computer functions.
7. For a notebook, press and hold the Fn key and then press the power button. This starts the pre-boot testing and will launch ePSA. In case you have a Desktop at the Dell logo screen tap the F12 key to enter One Time Boot Menu and use the arrow keys to highlight Diagnostics and press enter.

Excellent Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought it 2 months ago. Good machine for the money: decent processor, RAM size, and hard drive. Nothing fancy, Though not a cheap one. Excellent Value. Took me two days to clean out the bloat ware and reclaim my privacy in Windows 10. On the third day installed Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Linux. Dual boot. Installation went smoothly. Running Ubuntu for more then two months now. Never booted to Windows again. Did not have any problem and very happy with my purchase. Would highly recommend this hardware for a nice budget Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Linux laptop!
