Customers consistently note the affordability of the Inspiron 15.6" Laptop, often describing it as a great laptop for the price. Many customers also mention its suitability for schoolwork and basic tasks, with comments like "It served its purpose" and "Perfectly suited for my needs." While some customers appreciate its lightweight design and ample storage, a few express frustration with the lack of a CD/DVD drive and the challenges of adjusting to Windows 10.

This laptop has been really good for my needs, which are basic computing, downloading and streaming. It has enough RAM and hard drive memory for what I need, and all of the standard features that are to be expected of a laptop these days. The only drawback is that it doesn't have a internal CD/DVD drive, but a lot of laptops don't have those installed as standard these days, unfortunately. An external drive is only $25-30 so it's not that big of a deal compared with the value this laptop has brought me in the short time I've had it.

Great prices for a basic home machine

Bought this to replace my LAST basic home machine. We do word processing, spreadsheets, web browsing and basic PowerPoint (on occasion). It runs pretty fast, and has decent memory and storage. It lacks an on-board DVD drive, but we have portable ones so no problem. Would have preferred a more sturdy body (the all-plastic frame concerns me a bit) but otherwise seems pretty solid.

Purchased this for my mother to replace a nearly decade-old laptop. This does well, keeps up for all her web browsing and there's enough storage to last longer than the life of the laptop. The only downside is the laptop has a slower 5400RPM hard drive. So I am planning on replacing it with a 500GB solid state hard drive.

It’s not only a little slow but what disappoints me more is that it doesn’t have a cd/dvd drive. I thought that was obviously included but no. You have to read all the small print.

I just got this from best buy, it is relay nice, I taught it would be a downgrade from my XPS but not at all, it's even better in some way's. Nice big wide screen, Silent, Lot's of Memory 8G/1TB. It is very usable with all my attachments WD drive, Logitech External speakers, an old mouse from Compaq, PNY zip drives. Hooked up to my WIFI and home group with no problem, The i3 7th Generation Chip is pretty fast with 2 cores/ 2.70gh. Dell is the best alway's trust Dell & Best Buy I always get stuff from Best Buy great company, Fast service and delivery, good prices.

I bought this to replace a 10 year old Sony laptop that was starting to show signs that it was finally on it's way out. This laptop is very basic. My main criteria was that I wanted to have a processor that had decent performance (I didn't necessarily need an i7, but wanted something better than an Atom or Celeron) and that I would be able to expand the memory to 16GB eventually, and this laptop met that. A couple of things to note that are mild annoyances--these low end Dell laptops don't have a power light, so you can't tell when it has completely shut down, and to show HD activity you have to use a function key combo (Fn H). Also, the HDD is large, plenty of storage, but it's 5400RPM so if you're used to SSDs it's going to be painfully slow. I replaced it with an SSD within a couple of weeks of owning the laptop. Given those two annoyances, and working around them the way I did, I'm now really happy with this laptop purchase. If the laptop and SSD hadn't both been on sale when I bought them, replacing the HDD with an SSD may not have been cost effective, but I was lucky there.

Scored this nice laptop during a sale. It was cheaper than other laptops and other stores. Just be aware that this one didn't come with an optical drive. I have already started using it for awhile before I realized that I needed the optical drive in order to install the software for my printer. This is my first computer using Windows 10 so I'm trying to get used to all these weird apps already installed onto the computer. It's kind of annoying if you don't use it and can be very overwhelming because all these apps clog up the Start menu. The staff was also very helpful and patient with me. Really appreciate it!

I bought this laptop as an open box return (no box) when my 6-month-old Asus corrupted and died, so it was not fully brand new when I bought it but close enough. This is the first laptop I've owned that was not an Asus or an Acer and I was a little nervous about it at first but I've had it for a couple of months now and it has worked well. It's a little slower to start up than my old Asus was, but once it's fully up it is a speedy little computer. I can have multiple webpages, several file folders, photos, photo editing software, and a document or two up and it doesn't slow down in the least. There are a couple of downsides to it: the audio is not the best and it makes an odd noise whenever another webpage is loading but only when I'm listening to music with headphones. The other downside is that it has a panel on the right side that looks like it is a disk drive but it is not and I'm extremely disappointed with that. Overall, though, for someone who mostly needs a laptop to surf the web and do a little writing and photo editing, it is a solid little device.

The product itself is good. The initial computer load done before I purchased it was not. I had to take the computer back to the store and purchase a seperate maintenance agreement to get the product to boot up and run without taking an hour to start up. This was bad and cost me more than planned.

I think this computer has great features for a computer of this price. It was not the least expensive, nor by any means was it one of the more expensive computers. My husband relies on his computer, and uses the computer daily, and with this computer he is able to accomplish all his tasks.

This is my second Dell laptop my last Dell laptop lasted for over 8 years (it still runs great but is a little on the loud side). I picked this one up for under $500 and thought it would not preform well because of the price, I was wrong! It is super fast and does well with multiple screens, windows, music, and movies all at once! I would highly recommend this computer!

I purchased this computer for my daughter. Overall, it meets her needs and seems to work well for her. The price was good, but the customer experience was not so good.
I understand them trying to up-sell me to a better laptop and sell me additional software I did not need, but what I truly do not appreciate is them trying to charge me for software (anti-virus software) that I did not approve and did not authorize them to charge my account. Imagine my surprise to get an e-mail from best buy asking me to update my credit card information on my account so they could charge me for Trend Microsystems Antivirus software. This is after I told them I had a 5 user account with Norton's 360 software I would be using. If I had a current credit card on my account I would have been charged for the software without any interaction with me.
I reviewed the incoming e-mail to ensure is was not a spoof or a phish. They had my account information in the e-mail and all of the phone numbers and web notices belonged to Best Buy. It appears the e-mail is genuine. I tried to respond to the e-mail and was directed to best buy's customer service, which has no option to complain about services not requested.
