Did not like the laptop 1) not touch screen 2) screen not wide enough 3) too much space allocated to the frame and not to the screen. Also slow compared to my previous Toshiba laptop

Drivers need to be downloaded for everything. Does not recognize a stick drive or an sd card but there is a slot for it - absolutely ridiculous'

Great machine for home power users

I purchased this machine for my wife as a Christmas present (shhh... don't tell her). Upon getting it, I found it larger than I expected. Not unwieldly so, but I am used to smaller machines. Not sure why I thought it would be smaller, but it is a good size.
My first thought when booting it up (after set up) was that it was slow to boot. That is easy enough to fix. I imaged the HDD over to a SDD, swapped that in, and instead of 45 seconds boot time, it was 4 seconds. While I had the cover off (to get to the insides, you basically take off the bottom of the laptop), I swapped out the standard Hynix 8GB module for two Crucial 8GB modules. So this machine has been upgraded as far as it can be. I cannot stress enough how much improvement a SDD makes in the general snappiness of a laptop. It is night and day difference.
I haven't used it enough to comment on battery life (if it gets 4-5 hours we will be happy), but in the few minutes I worked on it getting it ready for the Mrs., I have noticed that it performs very well at everything I had to do. Virus scanning is fast, updates install in a blink, and the Recycle Bin empties itself immediately. She uses her current Dell (a 10 or 12 year old Vostro) primarily for photo editing, MS Publisher, and other project items for the kids.
I think I am going to unpack the machine and give it to her in a different box... and then stuff a shirt or something in the Dell box. That should be fun!

I'm just getting to review after buying on black Friday. I love my new laptop but don't get to use it much because I have dialup at home and only get to use it when high speed is available but it seems to be a great computer.

I purchased this computer on Black Friday. The first one I got in the mail had a part that was not working right so they sent it back. I got the second one in the mail this week and took it to the store to have them start it up. They did so and said it was fine. I got home and downloaded the security software that came with it. After about an hour, some of the keys stopped working, everything was slow/delayed, etc. I finally had to shut it down leaving pages open because they would not close. I will drive back to the store again tomorrow. I am very disappointed and upset as I need this to work well for school. My old computer that is 7 years old works better and faster than this one.
