It is light compare to my working laptop and my Mac Pro. Got it at 279$ at Black Friday for my parents, after try it a little bit, i feel this is much better than my own old laptop and especially for the touch-screen feature. It will be a great gift for my parents.

I never give five stars for anything because I feel like there's always room for improvement, but in this case this was the best deal I could have ever gotten for this particular laptop. And it was the best deal on any laptops regarding the specs. I'm so lucky to have purchased this when it was on sale because I still have yet to see the prices drop down almost a year later.

Dave,
Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear about the charging issues that you're having. We'd recommend the following tips to help resolve your issue:
We'd recommend checking the following causes of possible AC Adapter Error Messages:
1. Are you using a 3rd party or is a non-Dell branded AC adapter is connected to the PC or docking station? 2. Are you using an AC adapter with a lower wattage? 3. Is the AC adapter is not fully connected to the PC? 4. Check to see if the wall power cord is not fully connected to the AC adapter. 5. The AC adapter or PC's AC adapter port could be damaged. 6. The AC adapter is not recognized in BIOS (System Setup).

Popo,
We're sorry to hear about the slow performance on your computer. We'd recommend running the Windows Performance Troubleshooter to see if there are ways to speed up your computer:
1. Close all open windows. 2. Press the Windows logo key + X key on the keyboard. 3. Click Control Panel. 4. Click System and Security. 5. Under Security and Maintenance, select Troubleshoot common problems. 6. Under System and Security, click Run maintenance tasks. 7. Follow the on-screen instructions and prompts to complete the process. 8. Restart the PC.

I have nothing but positive things to say. I bought a second one for another family member to use. The solid-state drive delivers on speed. 8 GB of RAM is more than enough for the average user, and handles intensive multitasking smoothly. While I wasn't looking for a touchscreen this model was still cheaper than others without, and so is a nice bonus! Display is crystal clear. The unit is average weight but thinner than you'd expect, and seems well-built. I also appreciate that Dell did not pre-install tons of bloatware on this model, so initial setup was easy. The i3 processor ensures this unit is future-proof for at least the next few years. My one suggestion would be to add a back-lit keyboard, but no biggie. I highly recommend this model.

At first I wasn't sure about this laptop but after working with the settings it's pretty amazing for the price. Windows S mode took some time to figure out. It seems that Microsoft has changed their app store and in order to get the option to switch to normal Windows 10 home the app store needs to be upgraded. Then you need to restart it and go into the settings activation a second time in order to get the right option to switch out of s mode. Once that was done and I took transparency off of the display I'm very happy with this laptop for basic usage.

while not having every bell and whistle for the price its hard to beat. I bought this laptop during the recent early black friday sale and for a sub $300 laptop its specs are hard to beat. I bought this for my girlfriend who is a teacher and needed something decent to do work on and basic internet functions. This machine more than meets her needs and has the added bonus of a touch screen and the ability to upgrade the ram if needed down the road.
While it does not have a strong dedicated gpu or a higher resolution screen it is more than decent for daily tasks and light editing. You can even game on it somewhat just dont expect to be running the latest and greatest games.
Bottom line if you want something decent for internet, media consumption, and basic work tasks then this machine is hard to beat with its specs and price.

Bought this to replace my old one and loving it esp. the touch screen.
It's light weight and has excellent battery life.
The setup is super easy.
I deleted some of the apps that came with the laptop. It will free up the memory.
It's good enough for daily use.

Initially very happy with this purchase. Bought for my kids to use, but ended up using it quite a bit for work over the past few months. While I like the functionality of it, the battery leaves a lot to be desired.
Pros:
Quick to move between programs and just overall speed. Love the touchscreen.
Cons:
Very short battery life (3-4 hours MAX, which is a huge change coming from our MacBook that has seemingly endless battery life), no backlit keyboard (didn't think to check before I purchased). Sometimes it gives us trouble when trying to plug in headphones - doesn't recognize them right away.
Overall, I'd recommend if you plan to keep this plugged in, but if you're looking to take take with you on the go, or to college where you'll need it in classrooms without power supply nearby, I'd pass.

This is a great laptop for the money, especially when it's on sale for under $300! It does have a cheap feel to it but I think that’s an okay trade-off for the price. I found the texture of the shell pretty interesting; it’s kind of like a rough plastic which adds a good grip feeling for when you have to move it.
The keyboard is nice to type on and the track pad seems to be good quality. The in-line power brick is a nice compact size which, to me, is a big plus. This Inspiron is also very thin considering the price, and it's surprisingly lightweight. I was also pleased with the SD card slot included on the side.
I found the performance to be really good if you're just watching YouTube or browsing the web. The 8th gen Intel i3 processor and 8GB of RAM is great for low-demanding tasks similar to those. Playing 4K video on YouTube runs without a hitch while only utilizing about 30% of the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 GPU. This would be a great budget laptop for school or even work depending on what you do. I'm sure it could run Microsoft Word or Excel without any problems.
I was surprise at the lack of bloatware that was preinstalled. Like other reviewers have noted, I did have to go through the activation troubleshooter to activate the "home" version of Windows 10 to change out of the Windows 10 S mode.
One thing that bugs me about this laptop is the lack of backlit keys. The screen displays a decent picture but I can still tell it’s a lower resolution. I think 1920x1080 is the sweet spot for a 15 inch screen. The screen also has a glossy finish which creates a lot of screen glare, especially in a bright environment. It also lacks a removable battery which is a con for me; I like to remove the battery when I know I'm going to leave it in one spot for a while.
I would definitely recommend this over any Chromebook though. Sure, there are better Windows laptops out there but this one is hard to beat for the price!

I needed a new laptop for work badly. I am an IT Integrations Project Manager, and a lot of my work is done remotely via, Zoom, Cisco WebX, Zoho, ect ect and I needed a laptop that is fast, great RAM and Memory to handle the multiple windows that I require to be open at one time. This Dell for the price is absolutely amazing! Depending on the WiFi speed of where I am there is little to no lag with loading of screens, start-up, ect. I even forget the best feature, TOUCH SCREEN!!! The transition is so smooth with ease, Dell really did a great job! I absolutely love this laptop!

I keep forgetting that there is a touch screen. It is cool though. Everything runs great and fast. A larger hard drive would be nice but an external gives me all the extra space I need.

Was great price big part reason I bought it on pre black Friday sale. I'm bit disappointed just because I'm going from a 17.3 laptop to this 15.6. I'm kind of wishing I went with another 17.3, I'm getting older and getting harder to see things. The other part is this windows 10 is in s mode so can't use any programs but ones approved or certified by Microsoft. I like using google chrome so to do that I had to get it out of s mode. Didn't like that Microsoft limiting my choices, just something to think about.
Overall decent computer and plenty fast for an internet surfer like me.

We were in the market to replace our 12 year old Dell laptop that was getting on in years especially limited video capabilities. It came with Vista, was upgraded to W7, then W8, then W10. When this new system was Black Friday priced it was a no brainer for us. It starts up almost instantly speed tests three times faster the system it replaced. Very happy with purchase,

Not the fastest thing in the world, but for its price point, it's quite nice. Touch screen works just fine. It's a little laggy sometimes, but nothing terrible. The fan is pretty quiet, the screen looks good, keyboard leaves you wanting more, tracking pad works well. Overall a decent little machine for not much money. To be fair, I've only had it since Thanksgiving.

Got this as an open box for cheap. Can't beat the configuration and specs for the price. Hard to find a good laptop for under $275 these days and this is an i3, ssd and 8gb ram. Got it setup in a few minutes, didn't come loaded with bloat ware and definitely fast. Not to mention a touchscreen. If you can find this yet, you should buy it.
