The materials used to make this feel so cheap and flimsy. The touch pad sucks you have no way of scrolling like my old HP so i signed up with Dell and they rewarded me $25 dollar to spend on their cite so i bought a wireless mouse that works wonders. The laptop itself is pretty good as it does what it has to remember update it right away or you will not be impressed. The size is pretty big which I thought I was going to be like my old HP but it wasn't so I don't take this to school it's too big but like I said all that aside it's a pretty good and quick laptop that is reasonably priced.

Bought it on a best buy store and was a open box item as per our choice. Geek Squad did their best to make sure product was in super condition. Happy with the service.

I regret cheaping and buying this model. There are a few major design flaws. The bottom panel of the laptop is clipped in to the main chasis so any upgradability (whether it be RAM or hard drive) is out of the question. Beyond that, the small plastic lips that hold the bottom panel to the rest of the chasis are made of thin plastic. The repeated strain of opening and closing the laptop hinge pulled that lip out over time. That corner of the bottom panel is no longer attatched to the chasis and when opening and closing the laptop it actually pushes the bottom panel away from the rest of the system creating a gap. This is only accentuated by the fact that the components it exposes when doing so are the power input and battery. Dell customer support was no help either. Since the panel is not an "internal component" i would have to pay 160 dollars to have that part replaced. Ridiculous. This is a shame as i have had many good expierences with dells in the past. I will most likley be switching to HP after this.

this is the second time i buy laptop on best buy black friday deal. I was very impressed by the fast shipping this time! i was very happy to open box, it seems like not a brand new one ! packaging is different unlike others they will have everything in bag and sealed . so sad, i believed the laptop i received is defective/ refurbished. when i plugged in the power cord and press the power, the screen is not light up but the cpu is working! the problem i had last year was the laptop cannot be charged. i go back to the store the next day right away and the staff refused to exchange me a new one and tell me that i only can buy a new one for original price! i would never trust best buy again! same experince over and over again ...

Has everything for a small business or just home use. Touch screen, 8Gb ram, 1TB HD and an i5 processor. I have bought this for clients and have one myself. Long battery life is good, but the overall use is limitless, and got each one for under $400 at the time. Have had no slow down with processing multiple work applications. Didn't think I'd use the touch screen too much, but it really does make work easier when you can just move windows around instead of the click and drag of the mouse.

    Outstanding Performance for the Money

This laptop PC has outstanding performance for the money. It has an i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, 500 GB hard drive, touch screen, separate numeric keypad, and Windows 10 64bit. It's performance is great. It does lack some little things that I wish it had that most laptops do have such as a hard drive activity light and numlock indicator light. It would also be nice to have a lighted keyboard. I gave this an excellent rating based on the price vs. performance. I would buy it again.

What can I say, but WOW! This laptop has some fantastic features for a tiny price! DVD-RW, 3 USB, hdmi, bluetooth, ac wifi, spill resistant keyboard, & full keyboard with 10key to name a few features. I wanted to stop by my local store to put this unit thru it's paces and I was impressed. It sat between a Lenonvo and an HP, both substantially more money with less RAM and lower chipset than this Dell. Startup is fast and unit is light. Although unit is not "full HD", it is HD and the display is very good and responsive. This u it is also Energy Star rated. I can't say enough great things about this Dell laptop, and with 1TB of disk space, it doesnt dissappoint. This is a fantastic Black Friday deal and no other retailer comes close! Everyone should grab one of these while they still can!

    Dell i5 Touchscreen Laptop

I picked up this laptop on Black Friday for $349. It's got an i5 processor, 15.6 inch touch screen, 8GB ram, and 1TB harddrive, I picked this one up to replace an aging Windows7 machine. The build quality of this Dell is fairly good. Starting up the machine for the first time took longer than expected, but once it was set up, everything was fairly quick. The only complaint that I have is that this laptop (as well as many others I've seen) does not have an easily accessible ram expansion bay on the bottom of the laptop. To upgrade the ram or SSD, you need to disassemble the laptop. For most people, 8GB of RAM is fine, but a "power user" might be disappointed that it's not super easy to upgrade the memory or harddrive.

    Good laptop for basic functionalities

Pros: 1) Great price (thanksgiving deal), 2) Touch screen works well, 3) 5+ hours of battery backup (basic browsing, YouTube viewing), 4) Good speaker. Cons: 1) The laptop is very sluggish at times, especially during multitasking (switching between windows, especially from a YouTube video window to Word, browser to Word, etc.) though it has an i5 processor and 8 GB RAM. Does not behave like an laptop with an i5 /8 GB RAM for sure. 2) There are NO status lights for Hard drive in use, Caps Lock, Laptop ON, etc etc. There is just one LED which gives an indication of laptop being charged when connected to the adapter, but this too goes away once the laptop has 100% charge. So, in this scenario we will have no clue when the laptop is turned ON till we see something on the screen. Moreover, if the laptop screen goes blank due to some OS issue, user will have no idea if the laptop is powered ON. There's no visual blinking LED indicator function too to know if the laptop is in sleep mode. Overall, I personally believe that the design is very bad in omitting some basic visual LED indicators, especially for a user who's not tech savvy. 3) The touch pad could've been a touch smaller with easier button press towards the bottom of the touch pad. The button press requires considerable pressure as there are no dedicated left and right click buttons. 4) The integrated webcam quality is very poor and images are very grainy. Low light makes it worse. Overall, it is an OK laptop if the purpose is to just browse, basic utility use (MS Office suite, Email), YouTube etc. I wouldn't buy this at the full price. Surprisingly this laptop series is the only DELL laptop in less than $400 laptop sale for the last 3 years during thanksgiving! The RAM and the processor have changed, but the underlying structure is the same. Ironically I purchased the same series laptop during both previous thanksgiving deals only to receive defective laptops and I ended up returning them. Hoping 'third time is a charm' :). The only rationale for me to buy this laptop albeit knowing all the above drawbacks (except #1) was that there were no laptops available for this price, this RAM and processor combination with touchscreen capability. Hence the purchase!

I currently have a 5 year old i5, and I knew the speed would be enough for me. I was looking for a touchscreen, additional RAM, and I always enjoy when the keypad is to the right of the keyboard. I can tell you it is so much lighter and thinner than the model it replaces. It almost feels like my old one was on steroids with a louder fan, and runs much hotter. I expect this model will stand the test of time in speed..... and it will be much cooler on my lap

This is one of the door buster deals, that I have been consistently buying every year for 3 years now to gift friends and family. It is robust and has decent battery backup. Flawless touch sensitivity is a huge advantage this one offers for this price. Only reason why I gave 4 stars is because it is bulky due to DVD drive, I hardly use DVDs, except for that reason, this is the best laptops you could get at this price.

I have been using a Dell Inspiron 1525 for about 10 years and amazingly it is still working. Based on that I decided to purchase this on in black Friday. The laptop performance is fine as I expected but I think for a corei5 it is not as fast as it should be. I rum MATLAB on it and time for running a code is good. The touch seems to be fine and battery last long time. The cons are its screen resolution which comparing with my previous Dell it is not better as you expect after 10 years!! Also the thing I don`t like about it, is that there is no light anywhere when you push the power button so you don`t know if it is on or off!!! no light anywhere!!! usually power button has a light in its back but this one doesn`t have it. and also they removed light on NUM LK and SCR LK which is not cool at all!! with this specs if you want sth to work fine this is a good option but appearance is not good.

Really well functioning laptop with touchscreen

The laptop features: touchscreen, keyboard with keypad, DVD ROM drive, and Windows 10, with 8GB of RAM, really works well together. The package is smooth and very functional. The software will get updated by Dell and Microsoft for several days before it is stable, but that seems to be a function of any computer. The I5 processor seems quite fast enough for the work we do do with it at the house, and it seems to run cool, not getting warm when on my lap, unlike my latest i7 core version of the Dell laptop. The screen is very clear at a good resolution. The laptop screen housing is a thin plastic that flexes when you carry it closed, so that seems to be an area where a more expensive version of the laptop may improve things. The Inspiron touchpad is not the greatest, but my wife is generally able to work it, and I try to use a wireless mouse whenever I can.
